Nice tutorial bro. Other channels would make it 12 minute video, here you give tips in concentrated manner. Maybe include info for when its good to use and such, additional usefull information.
Just an observation. Many players do this also, they think they turn into the serve whilst practising, but they don't their body stays along side the table. If you watch back your examples, you'll notice you do the same. When you finish the serve your body needs to finish facing your opponent and the energy then goes forward. 👍😀 Even when practicing, you should do this. Good habits should start in practice. 👍 Keep up the good work.
@@Technical.Table.Tennis sure I understand, it's so easy to create bad habits when learning, I've been there! 😄 Even harder to correct as a coach. Rotation and weight transfer is the thing to get right very early on, then the technic and touch comes much later. Touch is very hard to perfect, but it's like a light bulb, once you have it you can turn on and off very easily.
@@Technical.Table.Tennis that's great, you just need to show in your coaching vids then. You may also think about using more side spin serves as this is more effective on the plastic ball 👍
It’s funny how much I am learning while trying to help newbies. It’s fun! I agree with you on adding side spin. It’s a lot harder to return short. What country do you coach in?
Hey, to make the serve better id recommend you to get a lower first contact, also short serve isnt always the best option. To make it dangerous maybe hit it a bit longer so the 2. bounce would be close to the end line of the table. This makes it harder for the opponent to make a good short return and unsure if he should attack or chop.
Hey Chris. All great points!!! I love the feedback. This is a Ghost Serve tutorial. I know it’s not the most effective serve at higher levels but people want to learn it for one reason or another. I agree though, in game I serve half long and get lower to make a lower bounce. The ghost serve gets mixed in randomly. Anyhow, thanks for taking the time to help out!.
Great video! I Can tell you’ve played for some time, I’d guess around 5 years. Your serve is great, but to take it to the next level, you need to use your body too, in order to put even more spin in. I hope you are motivated to play alot, because you’re skilled. Again, great tutorial, wish your Channel the best. :)
Frederik, thank you for your feedback and kind words. I really appreciate it all. I've been playing for 3 years now and plan to keep on training. Best wishes to you.
I love this saved it for when im back at the club to practise a lot and hopefully master it in a few months and even if i dont master it i learned somethings :D Thank you and part twoo is use the frederik comment to make it better :) Thank you man :)
You are so right. I was playing around with it and we actually have to open the paddle up so much that it's facing more behind us than in the direction of the ball. What a wild serve!
Try slowing down the arm movement and just start by making touching the ball a focus. Make the toss consistent too. This way the timing is always the same. Good luck!
I also find the ghost serve very easy to return. That said, I really enjoy doing it as a display of control and touch. It can come in handy at times when you have done multiple medium long serves and your opponent expects another medium long serve. Then you do a very short, heavy backspin serve like the ghost serve. The ghost serve is only good when it is tactically mixed in with a variety of other serves.
it's better if u try to lose the weight of ball like Ma Lin I mean do not push the ball forward so can make extra spin and even it can stay or go back after second jump of a ball
Just a few cm over net height Gaurav. That is correct. If you contact it below net height, the only way it will clear the net is if it is a long serve. In the beginning level this can be effective, but as you start playing better opponents, it will be your worst enemy lol. Thanks for your question =).
Hi Ribash, You can still do all of these serve with a regular shakehand grip. Be sure to pull your fingers at ball contact to make the bat snap for extra spin! To do this you must loosen your grip, and then quickly tense your grip at contact.
In the time of a pandemic who doesn't lol?! Thankfully this table is in my dining area and my living room is free of table tennis clutter. Thanks for watching!
Hi. I am not meaning to be mean by saying this, but when you make contact with the ball your paddle is over the line of the table, therefore making the serve illegal and the other persons point.
I really appreciate you making that point. I promise it’s the angle of the camera. Watch my other video on the pendulum serve. I don’t serve past the end line of the table. I know better than that.
Thank you. 😆 Playing two days a week for three years straight, and always choosing form over trying to win a point, even if it means me losing the game.
Use more body when serving and it should generate more spin... Also, try to aim lower and don't worry if its less spinny. I'm a semi professional and that looks quite easy to return with a flick. Great video, none the less!
Hi dear Jeon. Hope see and reply my message. I'm 22 rn and I have been playing PingPong less than a year. Is it too late for me to try to reach the professional levels ?? I remember once I said this idea of being professional player to a friend of mine, he replied:" boy! The professionals start playing and training when they're so young, like when they're teenager or even sooner than that." Is ma friend right ? Hope you see the message again. Peace and love to you.❤️
Hi Foad, To become an ITTF level pro you would have to start training at a very young age. Definitely around the age of 10 or younger. That is the bad news. The good news is, if you learn how to play correctly now you can still achieve the level of an amateur pro within your lifetime. Most people with this goal should get high level coaching early on and practice technique more than they play for the first couple years.
I've been trying to practice this serve for months! I get some spin, but when I try and get the acute angle, it seems to always miss, when I serve fast, or not get enough spin, to be a service winner, or ace, perhaps because I'm not hitting it, at the right contact point, or turning my waist, enough, like you said, to generate enough spin and direction!
Hi Paul. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching the video! I remember when I first learned this serve I would miss all the time! Try pausing for just a tad bit longer before beginning your forward swing and you will hit the ball more often. Be sure to keep your eye on the ball until right before it makes contact with the bat. Follow the tips in the video to increase the spin and be sure the bat is completely open or even angled back a little bit!
@@Technical.Table.Tennis gradually better, I sometimes get the short angle ace, on the edge of the table, it's the cross court angle, that I find tricky, it goes too wide, or I don't get enough backspin, and my brother reaches it!
