You wouldn't even need toothpicks if you wrapped it in saran wrap, squeezed out all air, then place it in the fridge for 30-60 minutes. Same or better results, coming from a Bennigan's employee.
While this method may yield good results I can assure you as a former Bennigans line cook we did NOT chill the Monte Crisco before deep frying. This simply is untrue.
@@DeAnnsUTube Bennigan's must have altered the recipe after I left. I was a "fry guy" on the line, and the recipe stated tightly wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate at least overnight. There were times when we had to make these on-the-fly without wrapping and refrigerating, and they typically came apart in the battering process. Wrapping and refrigerating also eliminated the toothpicks that was actually part of the official Bennigan's proper preparation technique for the battering process before plopping in the deep fryer.
Unless you don’t like it, you forgot the American cheese. For me also, I would get a shaved ham and turkey and “accordion fold” them for better texture instead of the thick slices. For some reason it just works better, perfect example is the “Hook and Ladder” sandwich from Firehouse Subs.
Make sure that the oil is the exact temperature and maintain it. If you followed the recipe than the oil temperature is the only other thing that can go wrong. Hope this helps.
Using the basket like he did the first time, it will stick to the basket. The batter was dripping through the holes.. and then cooked when it hit the oil. So... don't use the basket.
A Monte Cristo should not be battered and fried, that's a California BS thing. If you want the real thing, go to DuPars at Suncoast. Ask for fresh fruit, not fries You'll thank me later.
Disney version sucks om sorry it just does. There is no American cheese w the ham and its supposed to be a triple sandwich the swiss on the turkey and American w the ham. Look up benniganns recipe. Soooooooooooooooooo much better and use raspberry jam w it along w the powder sugar
I used to get these at a place called Bennigan's. They had a great Monte Cristo.
This turned out great. I tried following the recipe as much as possible.
Thank you and God bless you for sharing this wonderful Monte Cristo recipe. Everybody here loved it!
Made these today. Phenomenal. Literally.

Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Had fun making it. Thank you for watching.
This is a true Monte Cristo. I’ve watched a lot of videos on this sandwich and this cat nailed it.
Thank you Chris. I tried to replicate the sandwich I had at the park.
Right, I hate the stupid french toast versions.
The results of your recipe came out looking the most delicious out of all the recipes for this sandwich 👍🏾
Thank you 😋
Check out my Disney Grilled Cheese Sandwich video. It turned out great as well.
He uses less water, so his batter is thicker and coats better.
@@parksandpizza2366 Really?

That looks so delicious! You make me hungry!🤤
Thank you! It was delicious!
Check out my Disney Recipe Monte Cristo sandwich. It turned out great.
Frying 101. Fresh battered itens never go in basket than oil. You get stuck on bottom. Duh.
Found out the hard way. Lol
Looks good
Thank you!
I once made this and the bread soaked up the oil, why?

Can you provide the amount of this ingredients
Recipe
Batter
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 tbsp. Baking powder
1 1/3 cups water
1 egg
Sandwich
1 Oz. Sliced turkey
1 Oz. Sliced Swiss cheese
1 Oz. Sliced ham
2 slices bread
You used a crap load of oil for that fryer. Why not use a skillet and use 1/4 the amount of oil?
I just purchased that fryer at the time and wanted to test it out. It was my test cook. Lol
@@parksandpizza2366 Good job P&P using the deep fryer. That's the only way these sandwiches will come out perfectly good (as you demonstrated).
Delicious
It was the real deal👍

So... don't use the basket.
Exactly right. That's why I made the second sandwich without the basket.
Nothing like the internet to make everyone a Chief.
