Because most people dont have the galaxy brain it takes to make the right decisions on Singed and move like a boss instead of like a feeder on Singed. Also makro knowledge
yeah, the complexity is not in the champion itself, but in the way you have to use his strengths and in knowing exactly what to do against your matchup or team comp. I am a Singed main, I've played it in basically every role except ADC and I can say without a shado of a doubt that he can be played in every role (and maybe carry too) except ADC if you know what you are doing without any problem. Of course, it's way weaker in jungle, but it's a good counter to nunu if built right or to champs like viego/yi, in the midlane he can get cc'd easily but if you play it right you can win the majority of the matchups (with few exceptions like lux), same goes with support, matchups are more favorable and you are a perfect CD magnet (+perma-diving with certain champs like kindred). It really comes down to your game knowledge and way less on your mechanical skills.

Most of Singed's skill cap is actually macro play, rather than champion play. The champ himself has very low skill cap, but knowing how and when to use him in a game is where the skill ceiling flies up

The difficulty on this guy is exclusively positioning and macro and he's hella difficult at it. Thinking that "high skill cap" means "how fast can I button mash" Riven or Irelia-style it's just wrong, that ain't skill or intelligence, it's muscle memory at best. Honestly speaking the only tweaks I could see for him are his passive and his R: cutting some of that unjustifiably high uptime for the R (or cutting the current R as a whole) in exchange for an active effect (dashing or spreading poison in a different pattern, like releasing a poison cloud ring centered on him)could really make him much more proactive, also far as I know no champion has "special gimmicks" revolving around potion consumables, wouldn't it be a really interesting idea to have him interact in a peculiar way with some of the potions available?
@@tehrik0020 it used to be ingrained when Dark Seal had the potion bonus. You would always get Dark Seal and the refilling potion. You would proxy farm a few waves then die to tower to get a corruption potion. One of the few champions i know that can call corrupting potion a power spike.

Longtime Singed Main here. My favorite thing about Singed stems from his low mechanical complexity: playing Singed makes you better at league. The amount of macro knowledge needed to play Singed effectively (enemy champion positions when proxying, common ward placements, best flanking paths, how to deal with unbeatable matchups, TP timings, strange summoner spell combinations) forces you to expand and hone your knowledge about everything in league of legends, and that's what makes him fun, to me at least. Well, that and sprinting at the enemy at 1k MS, flinging their carry into a mega adhesive to root them, and getting that sweet sweet "summoner disconnected" message afterwards. That makes it all worth it.
Weird and diverse rune choice is also another reason why I love Singed. I tried Aery with Conditioning and Gathering Storm and by late game, I was an unkillable tank with 440 AP.
Singed is so free i stg. Start of game go mid. Clear two waves with q Ignore poke, if theyre melee trade with auto and posion if theyre ranged commit hard to clearing. After 2 waves leave lane, never look back, predator, get a kill, congratulations you won thr game.
They also can't change him too much, I'm a Singed main and every single one of us is very attached to his playstyle, a rework would literally make every old Singed main leave him
Riot doesn't care about loyalty to a character. Iiterally all of my old mains got reworked to the point where I don't know them anymore. Fiora, Akali, and Irelia. None of their kits are remotely the same as it use to be.
Singed's kit is designed in such an unique way, that it doesn't allow skill expression as much as it allows macro and decision making to be even more impactful. I love it

@@imanafdarslow in pushing? that is the one and only singed strength from level 1. he is the one and only champion which main ability can 1) have a permanent uptime with no cast time and 2) be applied to any and every target you tag. when designing such champ you NEED to make him extremely weak, just like sona is: Sona can empower up to 4 allies and herself at a given time, therefore if that theoretical situation is where she shines the most, she should be considerably weak in a 1v1 or 2v2 in comparison to champions who specialize in those. same deal with singed but with self-to-enemy interactions instead of sona's self-to-ally therefore this champion is by design weak in 1v1s, weak in early game, without mentioning the awful itemization problem. he is a champion that will force you, his pilot to see the game in a different way, interact with many game systems that you would usually not interact with, just to barely pilot it. and the payoff is also flipping middle finger to every league player who will be forced to play singed's game, instead of the usual league of legends you are used to. this concept is in no way unique to singed, every champion warps things around them to create their own ruleset of what they can and cannot do, singed does it in the most topsy turvy way possible. he gets to flip you, break an unbreakable freeze to any other champion, transition into a proxy into backing because those two things costed you literally your whole health bar. so yes i get why you hate him, and i love him for the same reasons you probably didnt read half of that, here is a cookie if you did 🍪

I'm actually happy that Singed has a very low pick rate. I like having a niche. I always tried to find a place in League, swapping from one role to another, mostly playing tanks or mages top or support, always getting destroyed by solo carry champions. Then I developed item builds like "yellow build Alistar" (Ancient Coin, Righteous Glory, Ryleis, all that stuff) before Riot "reworked" their support items, or "victory Sion" rushing ZzRoth, Steraks and Phantom Dancer, before they removed the best item ever from the game. *theatralic outcry* Now I'm stuck in a meta so bursty, that I just don't feel like dealing with those thirsty solo carries anymore. That's when Singed arrived. I love how ALMOST NO mythic item is good on him as a first item and I love even more, that he really is a walking middle finger, especially to champions that crushed me in the past. It is all about mental stability and movement with him. No ridiculous animation-canceling, no dumb pseudo-fencing or stack-grinding towards a guaranteed win. You just move and push one objective after the other, being to annoying to let live, but too slippery to kill, reworking my old Alistar-build for the current season. You need to re-learn how you move in order to survive ridiculous encounters, having thirsty tryhards breathing down your neck. When three men gank me and I die, it is worth it to me, because I take a turret and farm and even if I don't, they left two enemy players exposed to my teams remaining four. I stopped giving a fuck about proving myself in League through KDA and other meaningless bullshit. That was the beginning of my love for Singed. Now champions aren't a target anymore. Stickers, emotes and flame don't reach me anymore. I just want those yummi minions and turrets, no matter the cost. Currently I play him top and as a support against melee champs and fiddle for everything else. I'm an unrelenting split-pusher and meta-troll and I love it. Fuck the haters. Fuck the bruisers and fuck Viego especially.
I think the most fun I've ever had in league, was when bible singed was around, having a fat 25% cut on summoner spells let you spam ghost every minute or so, and not to forget when minions didnt have as much hp and do as much dmg, one cpot charge for 3 waves, now you end on the verge of death trying to lvl 1 proxy.

Every champ on the top lane has tools to pretty easily shut you down quickly, via stuns, slows or just general burst damage. You killing someone means that, despite the enemy having considerably more tools to deal with you that you have to deal with them, you killed them. You "outskilled" them because you used your limited tools to the fullest, like knowledge of the enemy champion, your movement speed, you positioning, etc. Also in some parts of the video you suggest that "Singed KDA does not matter" but trust me, if your able to get kills early as singed (yes, there are a lot of ways of doing that) you transform Singed into a HUGE anchor for your team that can easily help the ally ADC and midlaner.
I think out of all the Champions, getting a kill on Singed is the most satisfying because of what you said. You got next to nothing yet despite that, you managed to beat someone else who have many ways to take you out.
true, i also disagree with the sentiment that getting a kill on singed isnt satisfying. as a fellow singed main, when you get a double kill after enemy jungler ganks you on top its one of the most satisfying thing ever. i mean, "forcing" your opponent to "commit a mistake" is essentialy outplaying them, who the hell doesnt feel satisfaction after doing such a play? i mean, this video has some false assumptions which when ignored make perfect sense, but as a singed main i notice them immediately.
You are right, but he meant for the general playerbase it isn't as satisfying, because it isn't flashy and new singed players don't know how weak he is. So the kills aren't really satisfying.

The FIRST game I decided to play Singed I met literally the only other person I've ever see pick him on the enemy team, we then both met on mid because I got left there. For a moment we both just looked at each other and started dancing. We both had a moment of enjoyment before we each attempted to throw each other like ragdolls into something dangerous
There's nothing quite like the primal joy of flinging a riven out of her third q, or a camille out of her e, or a jax out of his jump, etc., and launching them into a pile of angry minions. It literally never gets old.

Similar to me. I started playing League as Shaco for the mental anguish of others. But I wanted to be more "useful" So I moved on to top and just gravitated towards Singed. Maybe because I'm a sadistic fuck but he just clicked with me. Granted, I almost never play top anymore (moved down to the bot lane and support) but Singed is still my pocket pick top and most people have no idea how to deal with him. I love it.
I love that Singed his KDA says nothing about his performance during the game. I believe he is actually good because you shouldn't focus him during a team fight since the enemy team can do whatever they want that way, but at the same time you HAVE to focus him because he will otherwise wreck havoc in the middle of your team
i got 900k and I love singed but his early is so weak and volatile that it's hard to go even let alone get a lead into the mid game as singed. Plus his build paths are a bit lackluster for mythics. At least I think so. He's fun though. Edit, march 8th: Conqueror Singed, with riftmaker is actually really fun. Also fucking stridebreaker... the hell are riot thinking?

Predator/Chemtank/Cosmic Drive/Deadmans/Boots and then whatever last item you want for defense or whatever. Go Ghost Teleport. And just gank the shit out of all the lanes. FLY INTO THE ENEMY TEAM LATE GAME, that shit is fucking hilarious!!!!
As a Singed main if they changed his kit I would have a very hard time playing him in the same way. Singed pisses people off so hard core and thats why i love him. I also have to disagree that you've basically said Singed takes 0 Skill and you may as well play a different champion because you could do the same thing. I have seen so many people play signed that have 0 idea and constantly feed because they think hes just a farm horse. I often go toe to toe with Irelias/Urgots/Camiles and come out winning the trade as singed, in my opinion when you are winning trades regularly vs those champions its taking skill especially without the help of a turret. but you are correct when you say you need to punish their mistakes, but thats true of any champion/player this is a league fundamental. Lets put some respect back on this Champ :D
give the singed poison a grievous wounds effect and he got to be every useful in current meta, completely countering all the many live steal and healing effects currently in the game. I also think singed ultimate could be made more interesting. I think a "heimerdinger" approach could be fun and also increase singed skill ceiling. Make singed ult turn his other abilities into a more powerful form and you have to choose which is best to use: - Singed poison -> current singed ult effect - Super glue -> now turn into choking gas: Bigger area, stay for longer, silences everyone in it and reduce their vision (like nocturne ult), but much weaker slow effect and no fling combo - fling -> Put a sticky gas tank on the target while flinging them, which will inflict singed poison dmg to the target and everyone near them for the next XX seconds. This way singed improves on his "I'm the most annoying champ in the game" theme, while getting more useful in the meta. [edit] crazy follow up idea: How about singed getting an ability which can slow down the whole game for a short time. Literally grounding players, giving negative ability haste and a movement slow effect? And to balance it, it would affect every player in range (team mates as well as enemy champions). I'm sure everybody would hate this! :'D
11:10 "Singed doesn't belong in the current state of League of Legends." I disagree. Singed represents a creative design philosophy that is all but dead in the game. New champions are all starting to become rehashed versions of existing concepts and at times each other (e.g. Viego is just 4 - 5 existing champions mushed into one). Having them on a set release schedule limits the amount of playtesting and is probably one reason they can't push the envelope on completely new ideas. Riot encourages unique, boundary pushing gameplay but design their champs in a way where they pre-determine how they're played. There was a point in time where one of the most active Singed players ran him in the Support role with Smite and he got banned for "trolling" despite actually playing to win. When Riot said they wanted creative ideas from the community and got this as a response they immediately said "lol no not like that." So many creative ideas come from this champion's existence. This game *needs* Singed and the community of enthusiasts, OTPs, and mains that pick him.
2 months ago the guy across from me said he'd never seen a singed before. I had a 3/0 lead before 10 minutes. He constantly asks me what kind of character is this, so ridiculous, why does it poison etc. He kept saying things. this was just a very normal day for me on the turkey server. At the end of the match, I went 12/3 and he kept telling me that I was just playing a ridiculous character. He was playing mordekaiser by the way.
If Rito added his old passive back scaled as an always on passive on Q or R, he could get some more build flexibility without bodying people early. If Rito added a little shieldless Riven Dash only available when R was in use, maybe the whole enemy team wouldn't out speed him even when he goes ghost flash. He used to be like the 3rd fastest champ! He doesn't need much, just some QoL to compete with these newer champs.
My solution to all of the downsides that come with playing Singed in top lane? Take that bad boy into the jungle. I've had multiple enemy junglers complain that my clear speed is unfair, gank potential is high early game with predator and W, and a Liandry's rush just wins the game most of the time. I don't believe this would work nearly well in high elo, if at all, but it just completely dominates low elo if you know how to jungle in the first place.

Singed has the major advantage that as long as he has a poison trail, all of his kit can change without too much of a change to his mechanics. The hard part is respecting the fundamental Singed playstyle while making it a healthier playstyle. Like, I wouldn't mind a more traditional laning phase, but Singed absolutely must retain his niche of being this super-slippery champion that excels at distracting the enemy team. As in, he can't 1v5, can't even really 1v1, but you need to deal with him or he'll either run around harassing you during the team fights or go grab an inhibitor by himself.

Riot changed his passive to try and capitalize on how people we using him to engage, but the problem with that was, his old passive was what made him tanky enough run through fights. By changing his passive they hamstrings him, and singed mains have been struggling to find builds and keystones that make him viable in the meta. Tank singed almost never viable anymore, so you have to go full damage... Which as you pointed out means he can't be tanky. Thankfully in season 11 items have made it so you can at least get good health and ap, and his poison was buffed to help him be more of a threat.
Well i like his new passive you don’t actually have to build mana on singed anymore and get slightly movements speed when the catch up to you and yes sometimes that movement speed save your live.
His old passive was the reason why rod of ages was a core item on him, now with the two gone he has neither the tankiness nor the damage to be impactful in any way.
Singed is a truly unique champion with the next closest in style of play being Lillia. I feel Singed requires a selfless play style. As for your observation on MaoKai yes they nerfed his saplings. Thanks... now you can't really play MaoKai anywhere since they nerfed the saplings into oblivion & didn't buff any other part of his kit to compensate. Is it wrong to miss the old tank meta?
Imma just say the buff to his poison damage feels REALLY nice. Makes early proxy+corrupting so much easier, when you used to need to take the extra AP from DS/DR. Singed is all macro. Most people's mistake is just taking Conqueror every game and not adjusting based on the comp/lane.
The problem with singed is that nowadays proxy isn't as effective as it once was because champions tank the waves and have some form of sustains and in lane fights singed rarely ever will win as hr doesn't have any instant damage
Its actually really crazy, I just started picking up singed recently and I have tried him early on in my league career and totally hated him. But now, after playing the game for so long and with the new items singed just feels so chill and fun.
THIS IS VERY EFFECTIVE!!: I play Singed but never played him as a tank, I play him as the new sub role 'Distraction' which is available to selected champs only like Jhin, Quinn etc. Basically you get predator, enhanced boots for runes (the others can be anything) and build chemtank, deadmans, ghostblade etc. if you are reading this you prolly have the idea of the whole build, and the logic here is basically fling the enemy before they can react, then go to the enemy back line keep on running around as distraction till the enemy you fling is killed, then fling another one. you will understand fun in league if you do this. HAVE FUN
Singed Jg. His W and throw work really well with celerity and predator, and Jg items mostly fix any mana issue you may have. gathering storm and mobility make him a constantly increasing threat that WILL need to be dealt with to win team-fights. I usually build leechingleer - rylai's - riftmaker or a more useful item for mobility depending on if current mobility is enough and I need healing or the enemy team is too fast at running away.
The one that thing that frustrates me the MOST about Singed is that in lore he's a merciless cruel mad scientist who does horrible things to people, the environment and entire societies... and then in game he's a trollface meme: Boring, outdated, ugly and only recognizable as a troll
I’d say his skill ceiling is deceptively high. I’ve played against a few Singed mains that just get in there a hard stomp and carry. It’s wild when they do and I don’t understand how they stomp so hard early. Clearly they’re more skilled than most
Hello, singed main here. yeah it's so hard to play the champ right now that his main build is literally rylas and a support item. Liandrys doesn't give Health anymore and conqueror is only 9% healing and has 12 stacks now, old conqueror of 10 stacks and 12% was actually the only reason singed had a high winrate last patch. Almost every champ has mobility or cc. And some of the new champs are even faster than singed with his ultimate. The champ isn't even that tanky and is easily one shot, u have to wait 25mins and farm 140+ creeps for u to start popping off which isn't that easy when most champs are stronger than you and are able to zone u off cs. Proxying isn't an option any more because of his fast champs snowball of mills and most jglers will simply camp u if see u doing so. Mythics only made the champ weaker, with old liandys and rylas, I was able to get an average of 30-50k dmg a game and would carry a losing game if it reached 25mins. Now I'm 4 ap items in and just nearly reaching 13k. But I still rather play him than be a meta slave.
Fleet Footwork and Phase Rush are pretty fun on him, though. I mostly go Rylas or Demonic first, then into Force of Nature and DMP, prioritizing one over the other based on the enemy team, but always building both. Nightharvester and Cosmic Drive are pretty fun, jsut like Moonstone and Staff of the Flowing River (don't know the english name) as a support. Don't fight, just split, farm, or protect your carry and dissrupt the enemy lane, so he/she can clean up after you and pick off idiot champs like Rengar, Heca, or Khazix since you completely counter their engage and burst with ur glue. Distract the enemy team, so your team can clean up, while you get gold from assists and minions. It's actually pretty fun, especially with Moonstone.

really think they need to buff something to encourage his play style. Like have him pick up some movement speed as long as he doesnt stop moving, making using skills other then poison a bit of a risk to use but also allowing the option of just running around. Maybe make it his skills have a bit of scaling with this passive buff so the faster he is going the farther the toss
So I think the thing you didn’t understand about singed is that singed is one of the most powerful champions when his ult and ghost are active. Singed is extremely ult reliant. A monster but only for a short window. If enemies know to bait that you lose if you get them first you win

Imo, few things are as satisfying as getting a kill with a champion like Singed. If I outplay someone with Riven, then sure, I mechanically beat them and was the superior player. But imagine you get a kill on a champ who is designed to suck at 1v1s because of his amazing teamfighting potential. The rush I get from picking the proper fights and seeing an opportunity where I get to solokill my opponent as Singed just feels so much more amazing because Singed isn't designed to solokill and snowball. But maybe I'm just weird
I'm not a top main, but I really wanted to try Tahm Kench once cause I really enjoyed his kit. First match I met a Singed main, and if I didn't play as carefully as I did then I would've been completely dominated. His positioning was always perfect and he put so much pressure on the lane I was under tower 90% of the time. Had no idea how to play against that hahah.
just so you know the most important point is that he don't have the right item to play this season. if rigorous glory+hextech gunblade used to be his main item, now you have to pick between the gap closing or sustainability.
@VarsVerum To me, the complexity of matchups is challenging and that's exactly what makes it extremely satisfying to get kills on Singed, even in season 13. Most people have a boost of confidence when they end up facing Singed, so you'll have to learn every single other champ abilities to get pixel perfect on your macro, to fear no opponent, but it's worth the ride! The fact Singed is more mesured in terms of "spectacular ults" doesn't make it less enjoyable at all. Less is more. You gotta love the process, heat the kettle, let it simmer until it is ready to boil. Not having immediate results actually gives you a boost of endorphines that makes Singed games so flavorful wether you win or lose. Mastering Singed increases your knowledge of the game, consistency makes it a viable champ for any lane - A Singed OTP
Singed belongs to an ever-shrinking subgenre of champion, as more and more members of the class get reworked out of the game. Old Warwick, Old Mundo, Old Udyr, Singed... I think there are a few others, but those are the ones that come to mind the most. I like to call them "Jogging Tanks", but essentially they are very tanky characters, usually tanks and bruisers whose only mobility is a boost to their movement speed that either lasts a very long time or is spammable. Rather than any big, dramatic escape mobility, these characters just kind of... casually jog at you or away from you in defiance of any CC or mobility you have. It doesn't matter how mobile you are or how strong your CC is, they *will* catch you (or escape from you) eventually. The fun factor for these characters is always the "I can't believe I got away with that" moments where you do something insane like diving two towers deep on your lane opponent to pick up a kill or being chased by 3/5 of the enemy team with all their mobility and CC and just walking your way back to base, probably giggling like an idiot the whole time. Sure, other forms of mobility on tanks are more practical and will win you more games, but honestly there is very little that is more hilarious to me than watching a 200 years champion dump every ounce of overloaded mobility into escaping from you, only to still get caught by you anyway when your only input was right clicking on them one time and then sitting back to watch the carnage... Probably with Yakktiy Sax playing in the background.
No satisfaction when you get a kill? Naw there is definitely a feeling of satisfaction when you outplay an opponent or multiple opponents, ESPECIALLY when you get kills. With this current meta of items its a lot better than its been in a long while.
2 things I wanna point out its totally viable to go ap singed because the damage on ap is to good to pass compared to tank and also is still very bulky even when he is building ap from the health form rylais, demonic embrace, so on... and second singed can do a bunch work and speed without chemtank by taking predator and potentially dead mans (depending on the game) but singed really only needs predator but late game he needs his ult too and maybe dead mans but singed is pretty good right now ( if you want to to watch singed gameplay by a 1 trick i recomend checking out minishcap1 on twitch and youtube)

I was a singed 1 trick from season 6-8, picking him up at bronze and peaking D4 in early season 7. It might be slightly bias, but ever since the rune rework singed has struggled to find a solid foothold in the game, while he's managed to earn more exposure since then he seems to have gotten nothing but grief for it. Singed relies so much on his opponent misplaying, especially mispositioning, that the more people who understand his strengths, the weaker he is to the point that at higher elos he becomes almost unplayable. It's a shame, I fucking loved the guy. I was a JG main before I picked him up, and even after moving on I could never stomach toplane, 3 years later I'm an ADC main and tops my worst role, Singed being the only toplaner Ive played seriously.
Because most people dont have the galaxy brain it takes to make the right decisions on Singed and move like a boss instead of like a feeder on Singed. Also makro knowledge

yeah, the complexity is not in the champion itself, but in the way you have to use his strengths and in knowing exactly what to do against your matchup or team comp.
I am a Singed main, I've played it in basically every role except ADC and I can say without a shado of a doubt that he can be played in every role (and maybe carry too) except ADC if you know what you are doing without any problem.
Of course, it's way weaker in jungle, but it's a good counter to nunu if built right or to champs like viego/yi, in the midlane he can get cc'd easily but if you play it right you can win the majority of the matchups (with few exceptions like lux), same goes with support, matchups are more favorable and you are a perfect CD magnet (+perma-diving with certain champs like kindred).
It really comes down to your game knowledge and way less on your mechanical skills.

Most of Singed's skill cap is actually macro play, rather than champion play. The champ himself has very low skill cap, but knowing how and when to use him in a game is where the skill ceiling flies up

Thinking that "high skill cap" means "how fast can I button mash" Riven or Irelia-style it's just wrong, that ain't skill or intelligence, it's muscle memory at best. Honestly speaking the only tweaks I could see for him are his passive and his R: cutting some of that unjustifiably high uptime for the R (or cutting the current R as a whole) in exchange for an active effect (dashing or spreading poison in a different pattern, like releasing a poison cloud ring centered on him)could really make him much more proactive, also far as I know no champion has "special gimmicks" revolving around potion consumables, wouldn't it be a really interesting idea to have him interact in a peculiar way with some of the potions available?

@@tehrik0020 it used to be ingrained when Dark Seal had the potion bonus. You would always get Dark Seal and the refilling potion. You would proxy farm a few waves then die to tower to get a corruption potion. One of the few champions i know that can call corrupting potion a power spike.

Longtime Singed Main here. My favorite thing about Singed stems from his low mechanical complexity: playing Singed makes you better at league. The amount of macro knowledge needed to play Singed effectively (enemy champion positions when proxying, common ward placements, best flanking paths, how to deal with unbeatable matchups, TP timings, strange summoner spell combinations) forces you to expand and hone your knowledge about everything in league of legends, and that's what makes him fun, to me at least.
Well, that and sprinting at the enemy at 1k MS, flinging their carry into a mega adhesive to root them, and getting that sweet sweet "summoner disconnected" message afterwards. That makes it all worth it.
Weird and diverse rune choice is also another reason why I love Singed. I tried Aery with Conditioning and Gathering Storm and by late game, I was an unkillable tank with 440 AP.

when designing such champ you NEED to make him extremely weak, just like sona is:
Sona can empower up to 4 allies and herself at a given time, therefore if that theoretical situation is where she shines the most, she should be considerably weak in a 1v1 or 2v2 in comparison to champions who specialize in those. same deal with singed but with self-to-enemy interactions instead of sona's self-to-ally
therefore this champion is by design weak in 1v1s, weak in early game, without mentioning the awful itemization problem. he is a champion that will force you, his pilot to see the game in a different way, interact with many game systems that you would usually not interact with, just to barely pilot it. and the payoff is also flipping middle finger to every league player who will be forced to play singed's game, instead of the usual league of legends you are used to.
this concept is in no way unique to singed, every champion warps things around them to create their own ruleset of what they can and cannot do, singed does it in the most topsy turvy way possible. he gets to flip you, break an unbreakable freeze to any other champion, transition into a proxy into backing because those two things costed you literally your whole health bar. so yes i get why you hate him, and i love him for the same reasons

I'm actually happy that Singed has a very low pick rate. I like having a niche. I always tried to find a place in League, swapping from one role to another, mostly playing tanks or mages top or support, always getting destroyed by solo carry champions.
Then I developed item builds like "yellow build Alistar" (Ancient Coin, Righteous Glory, Ryleis, all that stuff) before Riot "reworked" their support items, or "victory Sion" rushing ZzRoth, Steraks and Phantom Dancer, before they removed the best item ever from the game. *theatralic outcry*
Now I'm stuck in a meta so bursty, that I just don't feel like dealing with those thirsty solo carries anymore. That's when Singed arrived. I love how ALMOST NO mythic item is good on him as a first item and I love even more, that he really is a walking middle finger, especially to champions that crushed me in the past. It is all about mental stability and movement with him. No ridiculous animation-canceling, no dumb pseudo-fencing or stack-grinding towards a guaranteed win. You just move and push one objective after the other, being to annoying to let live, but too slippery to kill, reworking my old Alistar-build for the current season. You need to re-learn how you move in order to survive ridiculous encounters, having thirsty tryhards breathing down your neck. When three men gank me and I die, it is worth it to me, because I take a turret and farm and even if I don't, they left two enemy players exposed to my teams remaining four. I stopped giving a fuck about proving myself in League through KDA and other meaningless bullshit. That was the beginning of my love for Singed. Now champions aren't a target anymore. Stickers, emotes and flame don't reach me anymore. I just want those yummi minions and turrets, no matter the cost.
Currently I play him top and as a support against melee champs and fiddle for everything else. I'm an unrelenting split-pusher and meta-troll and I love it. Fuck the haters. Fuck the bruisers and fuck Viego especially.
I think the most fun I've ever had in league, was when bible singed was around, having a fat 25% cut on summoner spells let you spam ghost every minute or so, and not to forget when minions didnt have as much hp and do as much dmg, one cpot charge for 3 waves, now you end on the verge of death trying to lvl 1 proxy.
Singed works mid against a surprising number of champs that regularly use that lane.

Every champ on the top lane has tools to pretty easily shut you down quickly, via stuns, slows or just general burst damage. You killing someone means that, despite the enemy having considerably more tools to deal with you that you have to deal with them, you killed them. You "outskilled" them because you used your limited tools to the fullest, like knowledge of the enemy champion, your movement speed, you positioning, etc. Also in some parts of the video you suggest that "Singed KDA does not matter" but trust me, if your able to get kills early as singed (yes, there are a lot of ways of doing that) you transform Singed into a HUGE anchor for your team that can easily help the ally ADC and midlaner.
I think out of all the Champions, getting a kill on Singed is the most satisfying because of what you said. You got next to nothing yet despite that, you managed to beat someone else who have many ways to take you out.
I go 0/5 proxy farm and after bought my first item run up to lane and solo kill the ire that 2/0 :D

You are right, but he meant for the general playerbase it isn't as satisfying, because it isn't flashy and new singed players don't know how weak he is. So the kills aren't really satisfying.

The FIRST game I decided to play Singed I met literally the only other person I've ever see pick him on the enemy team, we then both met on mid because I got left there. For a moment we both just looked at each other and started dancing. We both had a moment of enjoyment before we each attempted to throw each other like ragdolls into something dangerous

Similar to me. I started playing League as Shaco for the mental anguish of others. But I wanted to be more "useful"
So I moved on to top and just gravitated towards Singed. Maybe because I'm a sadistic fuck but he just clicked with me. Granted, I almost never play top anymore (moved down to the bot lane and support) but Singed is still my pocket pick top and most people have no idea how to deal with him. I love it.
I love that Singed his KDA says nothing about his performance during the game. I believe he is actually good because you shouldn't focus him during a team fight since the enemy team can do whatever they want that way, but at the same time you HAVE to focus him because he will otherwise wreck havoc in the middle of your team

i got 900k and I love singed but his early is so weak and volatile that it's hard to go even let alone get a lead into the mid game as singed. Plus his build paths are a bit lackluster for mythics. At least I think so.

One thing I personally find underrated about singed is taking everfrost for the extra disruption and 1v1 potential
I love introducing my pocket pick Predator singed jungle to the enemy team. Gives it that extra "despair" factor
Predator is the shit, I love activating all my speed boosts at once and just flying at them at mach 5 speeds
As a Singed main if they changed his kit I would have a very hard time playing him in the same way. Singed pisses people off so hard core and thats why i love him.
I also have to disagree that you've basically said Singed takes 0 Skill and you may as well play a different champion because you could do the same thing. I have seen so many people play signed that have 0 idea and constantly feed because they think hes just a farm horse. I often go toe to toe with Irelias/Urgots/Camiles and come out winning the trade as singed, in my opinion when you are winning trades regularly vs those champions its taking skill especially without the help of a turret. but you are correct when you say you need to punish their mistakes, but thats true of any champion/player this is a league fundamental. Lets put some respect back on this Champ :D
give the singed poison a grievous wounds effect and he got to be every useful in current meta, completely countering all the many live steal and healing effects currently in the game. I also think singed ultimate could be made more interesting. I think a "heimerdinger" approach could be fun and also increase singed skill ceiling. Make singed ult turn his other abilities into a more powerful form and you have to choose which is best to use:
- Singed poison -> current singed ult effect
- Super glue -> now turn into choking gas: Bigger area, stay for longer, silences everyone in it and reduce their vision (like nocturne ult), but much weaker slow effect and no fling combo
- fling -> Put a sticky gas tank on the target while flinging them, which will inflict singed poison dmg to the target and everyone near them for the next XX seconds.
This way singed improves on his "I'm the most annoying champ in the game" theme, while getting more useful in the meta.
[edit] crazy follow up idea: How about singed getting an ability which can slow down the whole game for a short time. Literally grounding players, giving negative ability haste and a movement slow effect? And to balance it, it would affect every player in range (team mates as well as enemy champions). I'm sure everybody would hate this! :'D

11:10 "Singed doesn't belong in the current state of League of Legends." I disagree. Singed represents a creative design philosophy that is all but dead in the game. New champions are all starting to become rehashed versions of existing concepts and at times each other (e.g. Viego is just 4 - 5 existing champions mushed into one). Having them on a set release schedule limits the amount of playtesting and is probably one reason they can't push the envelope on completely new ideas. Riot encourages unique, boundary pushing gameplay but design their champs in a way where they pre-determine how they're played. There was a point in time where one of the most active Singed players ran him in the Support role with Smite and he got banned for "trolling" despite actually playing to win. When Riot said they wanted creative ideas from the community and got this as a response they immediately said "lol no not like that." So many creative ideas come from this champion's existence. This game *needs* Singed and the community of enthusiasts, OTPs, and mains that pick him.
2 months ago the guy across from me said he'd never seen a singed before. I had a 3/0 lead before 10 minutes. He constantly asks me what kind of character is this, so ridiculous, why does it poison etc. He kept saying things. this was just a very normal day for me on the turkey server. At the end of the match, I went 12/3 and he kept telling me that I was just playing a ridiculous character.

as a singed main i can tell u have many ways to come around with those problems because of the individual playstyle, builds and runes he can play
If Rito added his old passive back scaled as an always on passive on Q or R, he could get some more build flexibility without bodying people early.
If Rito added a little shieldless Riven Dash only available when R was in use, maybe the whole enemy team wouldn't out speed him even when he goes ghost flash. He used to be like the 3rd fastest champ!
He doesn't need much, just some QoL to compete with these newer champs.
My solution to all of the downsides that come with playing Singed in top lane? Take that bad boy into the jungle. I've had multiple enemy junglers complain that my clear speed is unfair, gank potential is high early game with predator and W, and a Liandry's rush just wins the game most of the time. I don't believe this would work nearly well in high elo, if at all, but it just completely dominates low elo if you know how to jungle in the first place.

Singed has the major advantage that as long as he has a poison trail, all of his kit can change without too much of a change to his mechanics. The hard part is respecting the fundamental Singed playstyle while making it a healthier playstyle. Like, I wouldn't mind a more traditional laning phase, but Singed absolutely must retain his niche of being this super-slippery champion that excels at distracting the enemy team. As in, he can't 1v5, can't even really 1v1, but you need to deal with him or he'll either run around harassing you during the team fights or go grab an inhibitor by himself.

Exactly, and he hasn't been for years. Riot changed his passive to try and capitalize on how people we using him to engage, but the problem with that was, his old passive was what made him tanky enough run through fights. By changing his passive they hamstrings him, and singed mains have been struggling to find builds and keystones that make him viable in the meta. Tank singed almost never viable anymore, so you have to go full damage... Which as you pointed out means he can't be tanky. Thankfully in season 11 items have made it so you can at least get good health and ap, and his poison was buffed to help him be more of a threat.
Well i like his new passive you don’t actually have to build mana on singed anymore and get slightly movements speed when the catch up to you and yes sometimes that movement speed save your live.
It actually save me lot of time.

His old passive was the reason why rod of ages was a core item on him, now with the two gone he has neither the tankiness nor the damage to be impactful in any way.
Singed is a truly unique champion with the next closest in style of play being Lillia. I feel Singed requires a selfless play style. As for your observation on MaoKai yes they nerfed his saplings. Thanks... now you can't really play MaoKai anywhere since they nerfed the saplings into oblivion & didn't buff any other part of his kit to compensate. Is it wrong to miss the old tank meta?
Imma just say the buff to his poison damage feels REALLY nice. Makes early proxy+corrupting so much easier, when you used to need to take the extra AP from DS/DR. Singed is all macro. Most people's mistake is just taking Conqueror every game and not adjusting based on the comp/lane.
The problem with singed is that nowadays proxy isn't as effective as it once was because champions tank the waves and have some form of sustains and in lane fights singed rarely ever will win as hr doesn't have any instant damage

Its actually really crazy, I just started picking up singed recently and I have tried him early on in my league career and totally hated him.

I play Singed but never played him as a tank, I play him as the new sub role 'Distraction' which is available to selected champs only like Jhin, Quinn etc. Basically you get predator, enhanced boots for runes (the others can be anything) and build chemtank, deadmans, ghostblade etc. if you are reading this you prolly have the idea of the whole build, and the logic here is basically fling the enemy before they can react, then go to the enemy back line keep on running around as distraction till the enemy you fling is killed, then fling another one. you will understand fun in league if you do this. HAVE FUN
Singed Jg. His W and throw work really well with celerity and predator, and Jg items mostly fix any mana issue you may have. gathering storm and mobility make him a constantly increasing threat that WILL need to be dealt with to win team-fights. I usually build leechingleer - rylai's - riftmaker or a more useful item for mobility depending on if current mobility is enough and I need healing or the enemy team is too fast at running away.
The best way to learn how to play top lane to play singed. Every match up is a losing match up. It forces you to learn how to play from behind.
The one that thing that frustrates me the MOST about Singed
is that in lore he's a merciless cruel mad scientist who does horrible things to people, the environment and entire societies...

I’d say his skill ceiling is deceptively high. I’ve played against a few Singed mains that just get in there a hard stomp and carry. It’s wild when they do and I don’t understand how they stomp so hard early. Clearly they’re more skilled than most

Hello, singed main here. yeah it's so hard to play the champ right now that his main build is literally rylas and a support item. Liandrys doesn't give Health anymore and conqueror is only 9% healing and has 12 stacks now, old conqueror of 10 stacks and 12% was actually the only reason singed had a high winrate last patch. Almost every champ has mobility or cc. And some of the new champs are even faster than singed with his ultimate. The champ isn't even that tanky and is easily one shot, u have to wait 25mins and farm 140+ creeps for u to start popping off which isn't that easy when most champs are stronger than you and are able to zone u off cs. Proxying isn't an option any more because of his fast champs snowball of mills and most jglers will simply camp u if see u doing so. Mythics only made the champ weaker, with old liandys and rylas, I was able to get an average of 30-50k dmg a game and would carry a losing game if it reached 25mins. Now I'm 4 ap items in and just nearly reaching 13k. But I still rather play him than be a meta slave.
Fleet Footwork and Phase Rush are pretty fun on him, though. I mostly go Rylas or Demonic first, then into Force of Nature and DMP, prioritizing one over the other based on the enemy team, but always building both. Nightharvester and Cosmic Drive are pretty fun, jsut like Moonstone and Staff of the Flowing River (don't know the english name) as a support. Don't fight, just split, farm, or protect your carry and dissrupt the enemy lane, so he/she can clean up after you and pick off idiot champs like Rengar, Heca, or Khazix since you completely counter their engage and burst with ur glue. Distract the enemy team, so your team can clean up, while you get gold from assists and minions.
It's actually pretty fun, especially with Moonstone.

really think they need to buff something to encourage his play style. Like have him pick up some movement speed as long as he doesnt stop moving, making using skills other then poison a bit of a risk to use but also allowing the option of just running around. Maybe make it his skills have a bit of scaling with this passive buff so the faster he is going the farther the toss
So I think the thing you didn’t understand about singed is that singed is one of the most powerful champions when his ult and ghost are active. Singed is extremely ult reliant. A monster but only for a short window. If enemies know to bait that you lose if you get them first you win
After like 100 match feedding and feel like shit the moment you realize singed's garbage is the moment you really star to play him better and stop feeding
Imo, few things are as satisfying as getting a kill with a champion like Singed. If I outplay someone with Riven, then sure, I mechanically beat them and was the superior player. But imagine you get a kill on a champ who is designed to suck at 1v1s because of his amazing teamfighting potential. The rush I get from picking the proper fights and seeing an opportunity where I get to solokill my opponent as Singed just feels so much more amazing because Singed isn't designed to solokill and snowball. But maybe I'm just weird

I'm not a top main, but I really wanted to try Tahm Kench once cause I really enjoyed his kit. First match I met a Singed main, and if I didn't play as carefully as I did then I would've been completely dominated. His positioning was always perfect and he put so much pressure on the lane I was under tower 90% of the time. Had no idea how to play against that hahah.

@VarsVerum To me, the complexity of matchups is challenging and that's exactly what makes it extremely satisfying to get kills on Singed, even in season 13.
Most people have a boost of confidence when they end up facing Singed, so you'll have to learn every single other champ abilities to get pixel perfect on your macro, to fear no opponent, but it's worth the ride!
The fact Singed is more mesured in terms of "spectacular ults" doesn't make it less enjoyable at all. Less is more. You gotta love the process, heat the kettle, let it simmer until it is ready to boil.
Not having immediate results actually gives you a boost of endorphines that makes Singed games so flavorful wether you win or lose. Mastering Singed increases your knowledge of the game, consistency makes it a viable champ for any lane

Singed belongs to an ever-shrinking subgenre of champion, as more and more members of the class get reworked out of the game. Old Warwick, Old Mundo, Old Udyr, Singed... I think there are a few others, but those are the ones that come to mind the most. I like to call them "Jogging Tanks", but essentially they are very tanky characters, usually tanks and bruisers whose only mobility is a boost to their movement speed that either lasts a very long time or is spammable.
Rather than any big, dramatic escape mobility, these characters just kind of... casually jog at you or away from you in defiance of any CC or mobility you have. It doesn't matter how mobile you are or how strong your CC is, they *will* catch you (or escape from you) eventually. The fun factor for these characters is always the "I can't believe I got away with that" moments where you do something insane like diving two towers deep on your lane opponent to pick up a kill or being chased by 3/5 of the enemy team with all their mobility and CC and just walking your way back to base, probably giggling like an idiot the whole time.
Sure, other forms of mobility on tanks are more practical and will win you more games, but honestly there is very little that is more hilarious to me than watching a 200 years champion dump every ounce of overloaded mobility into escaping from you, only to still get caught by you anyway when your only input was right clicking on them one time and then sitting back to watch the carnage... Probably with Yakktiy Sax playing in the background.

Naw there is definitely a feeling of satisfaction when you outplay an opponent or multiple opponents, ESPECIALLY when you get kills. With this current meta of items its a lot better than its been in a long while.
2 things I wanna point out its totally viable to go ap singed because the damage on ap is to good to pass compared to tank and also is still very bulky even when he is building ap from the health form rylais, demonic embrace, so on... and second singed can do a bunch work and speed without chemtank by taking predator and potentially dead mans (depending on the game) but singed really only needs predator but late game he needs his ult too and maybe dead mans but singed is pretty good right now ( if you want to to watch singed gameplay by a 1 trick i recomend checking out minishcap1 on twitch and youtube)

Taric Singed bot is my favorite sleeper duo for bot lane. No one expects how strong they are together and most adcs cant do anything but tilt.

I was a singed 1 trick from season 6-8, picking him up at bronze and peaking D4 in early season 7. It might be slightly bias, but ever since the rune rework singed has struggled to find a solid foothold in the game, while he's managed to earn more exposure since then he seems to have gotten nothing but grief for it. Singed relies so much on his opponent misplaying, especially mispositioning, that the more people who understand his strengths, the weaker he is to the point that at higher elos he becomes almost unplayable.
It's a shame, I fucking loved the guy. I was a JG main before I picked him up, and even after moving on I could never stomach toplane, 3 years later I'm an ADC main and tops my worst role, Singed being the only toplaner Ive played seriously.
