They wrote this song with dragonforce, I think dragonforce recorded the guitars in the studio also. They started when they were 8 years old doing Anime and J-Pop in a few bands together. In 2010 their producer(KobaMetal) thought they were strong enough to do Metal and formed BABYMETAL around them. They were 11-12 years old. He got them 4 A++ musicians to back them up.
HEADBANGER!!!, 1997 live
This style has been around for decades, in many anime intro and outros.
You should check out Metallica - creeping death live at moscow

...That moment when you realize that three girls in cute school school uniforms are more metal than we will ever be..... You need to see the live performance of Headbanger. They will rip your head off in that one. Also if you want to check out an official video of theirs you need to see Megitsune .. it’s a great video. Good stuff !!
Both are awesome I loved them
Thankks for being here
As Rob Zombie says “they roll harder than you”
Those are female samurai replica outfits not school uniforms.
They had already been performing for an hour to a hour and a half at this point, can you tell? Su is 17 and Yui and Moa are 15. Not bad for High School students, Huh? The crowd is 22K. The reason you hear Dragon Force is because they wrote the guitar riffs. They have been performing since they were about 6 yo. Their World Tour in 2019 was pretty much entirely sold-out capped by a sold-out LA Forum.
The man responsible for Babymetal is Key Kobayashi (Kobametal) a producer at Amuse talent agency. He realized that Su's voice was strong enough to cut through Metal guitars and drums. Moa and Yui are friends with Su and were chosen too do the "Dance and Scream" (their words) in support of Su. This is the 10th anniversary of the band, Su is 22 and Moa is 20 (21 in July), Yui left the band for health reasons.
If you want to see them early checkout "Babymetal Doki Doki Morning Rehearsal HD". There is a danger of cuteness overload!
Something newer checkout "Pa Pa Ya", it about salad.
Everyone BE SAFE sheltering in California.
Thanks for all the info and being here
@@0okamino In the past I got "yelled" at for saying Su was 16 coming from the "experts" on them.
@@outwest1014 Wait, you were right about the ages. This was 2015, so she would be 17 in this video. I must have been really out of it when I commented, and too accustomed to commenting on Budokan performances. I should know better than that. :D
SUMETAL was 17 at this show, however, she had just turned 17 less than 3 weeks prior, so you shouldn't feel too bad about yourself if you mistakenly thought or said she was 16. 🤘🦊🤘🤘🦊🤘🤘🦊🤘
Ijime, Dame, Zettai (live at Sonisphere 2014). This was where d legend began.
Thanks for being here
You said "this has some dragonforce feel on it" and yes, this song was co-written by one of the Dragonforce members
Two, actually: Herman Lee and Sam Totman.
Thanks for being here
To answer your question... Babymetal was built around Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-Metal). Her producer is Key Kobayashi (Kobametal), who recruited everybody, when he was assigned by her management company to work with her. Su was 11 at the time.
Thanks for the background info. Thanks for being here too
Welcome to the BABYMETAL galaxy G&T - also good to see Bruka Bruka doing the Fox God's work and getting more reactors interested. You have a lot more to see yet, 3 albums and about 50 songs and nearly every one of them different to all the others.
Thanks for being here
That was entertaining. BABYMETAL is awesome! Regarding the mixture of Metal with J-Pop, this song is pretty tame, though. You'll find much more experimental songs regarding the genre blending. And although I'm a metalhead myself, that makes it even better. The addition of catchy tunes, smiles, dancing and general positivity elevates the Metal music to something much bigger than I would have thought possible. I have never enjoyed music that much before.
There's a great variety throughout their catalogue, but the song that defines them best (in my opinion) is "Megitsune". Please check it out if you are interested: ua-cam.com/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/v-deo.html
Facts lol
I will try to check it out. Thanks for being here
I agree with Megitsune. Everything about it is just so Babymetal
This was fun! I love this format. Please do more Babymetal reactions like this.
More to come thanks for being here
Great reaction, welcome to Babymetal! The live show this video is from was in January 2015, Suzuka was 17 then, Yui and Moa were 15. The Dragonforce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman wrote the guitar parts and contributed to the studio recording of the song. The backing band behind the girls is Kami Band, not Konami. _Kami_ means god/spirit in Japanese. Kobametal (Key Kobayashi) is the guy who brought this great musical act into life.
My suggestions for you next Babymetal reactions:

Thank you guys
Thanks for the info it really helps and thanks for being here too
Kami means god, but written with a different kanji, kami also means “hair” - so it’s a pun on the word Hair Band
Left dude teary eyed. Cant blame him. Watched this vid hundreds of times by now and without fail I always end up getting teary eyed it's amazing
Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment
Great dual reaction. Thanks, guys!
Good job Bruka Bruka showing G&T the way to the Fox Hole... and welcome G&T to BABYMETAL universe. One thing you need to know is that BABYMETAL likes to mix music genres. Did you say rap?? Here:

Live rondo of nightmare, with the mischiefs of god intro.
Live Headbanger
Live BABYMETAL Death.
More to come. Thanks for being here
Love your reaction.. The band is called Kami Band. In this concert the Kamis were Mikio (R. I. P) and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, Boh on bass and HIDEKI Aoyama on drum. Babymetal was the idea of Koba, a long time fan of Metal and the idea evolved around Queen Su, the main vocalist.
Thank you for the info and for being here
Bruka Bruka is already a Babymetal evangelist.
Yall crazy haha
Bruka is bringing me along for the ride it seems. Thanks for being here
Doing the Fox God's work. :D
Welcome to the Fox Hole, friend :D
The guitarist Bruka mentioned who passed away was Mikio Fujioka. He died after falling from an observatory where he was stargazing in 2018. Many fans believe the song "Starlight" is a tribute to both him and Yui, who left the band shortly before the song was released.
As for recommendations, the one I just mentioned ("Starlight") for a more melancholy feel, the oft-recommended "Rondo of Nightmare (With Mischief of the Metal Gods intro)" for a Su-metal solo, and one of my faves "PA PA YA!". I also recommend "BxMxC" and "BBAB" for some of their more adventurous tunes. Honestly though, just about every song they've ever done is worth reacting to.
Thank you for the info. I will be doing more Baby Metal soon
I feel like a lot of older metal heads like them to an extent. Even more so for those with daughters and nieces and stuff. Even if you do not like them should at least respect the fact that they are drawing people to metal who may otherwise never give it a chance.
Welcome to the crazy world of Babymetal. There is nothing like them. Legend has it that Su was born with a microphone in her hand and instead of crying, she sang. I think that is exaggeration, but she has such confidence and presence on the stage. And she is so intense. Check out Rondo of Nightmare or Headbanger next.
Thanks for being here.
I'm 56 yo and saw Babymetal live in Japan at the Tokyo dome over 2 nights back in 2016 , fucking unbelievable live performance . I have seen some top Bands and these girls and kami band rank at the top for live performance
I have to admit I wanna see them in concert now.
More than a bit jealous!
For me this song reminds me of the ending of Bill & Teds Bogus Journey where their song brought everyone around the world together. When babymetal goes into the Whoa... part and everyone sings together it makes it feel like at that moment there is no war, no hate, no violence, just the love of music that is bringing people together.
Facts!!
hadn't thought of that! excellent point!
I love pretty much all of Babymetal's stuff, but I have to say "Road of Resistance" is my favorite, especially this video. The performance and audience interaction is stunning. Gives you chills. It's rather heartbreaking that Yui left the band due to health reasons. I miss seeing all 3 of them together.
More to come. Thanks for being here
@@GTReactions
They have so many good vids! "Karate", "Megitsune", "Headbanger", "Death".
“Rondo Of Nightmare (Mischiefs of God Intro)" Is a good one because the intro gives the Kami band some time in the spotlight.
If you like Rap, Metal, Pop, Dance with a little Indian/Mideastern flare, definitely check out "Pa Pa Ya".
@@BudhagRizzo
why do so many people who should know better refer to the song "babymetal death" as just "death"?
"It has some dragon force sound to it' It`s because 2 dragon force guitarists were asked to make this song with Babymetal :D The band is called Kami-Band which means 'band of gods', and sadly Mikio Fujioka passed away in 2018, he was called Ko-Kami 'small god'. Also they made a new genre, they call it kawai-metal which stands for 'sweet/cute metal'
thanks for the info and for being here
Sycnopation , inne , megitsune , sis anger , tales of the destinies . Could keep goin for hours .
More to come soon
I believe someone already mentioned the producer Kobametal started this idea of Babymetal. Kobametal first noticed Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) in 2008 when she was 10 and he realized she has the potential to be a great metal vocal. Babymetal was formed in 2010 as a school club in the J-pop school Sakura Gakuin (Which was founded by the entertainment company Kobametal worked for). It was like a school club in an US high school. Su was the designated lead singer, Moa and Yui auditioned into this club. The club was formed with a purpose of making more girls feel easier to get into metal music. The performance of the Babymetal club attracted more and more people, after Su-metal graduated from Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal was separated from the J-pop school as a professional group.
Thanks for the info and being here
This song was also co-written with the guitarists from DragonForce
Thanks for the info and being here
Don't feel bad, this video gives me those goosebumps every time! Like, I just watched a different reaction to it about an hour ago and I still got goosebumps this time!
In London last february the audience age was from 5 to more than 60. Small girls, an old grampa with the chest full of medals, cosplayers, metalheads... It was fantastic.
Sounds like such a fun mix of ppl who just love good music
Wonderful Yellow-Blue outfit! Also your headphone is "Ukraine colored". Bravo!
I was lucky to go to 2 of their shows on the same weekend. Saturday and Sunday, in Japan. The track list was 100% different on both nights and the crowd was more than double of the one you saw in the video (50k people, sold out). It was the best time I've ever had at a concert. If you can catch them live, go. Bring a bottle of water and a small towel with you. Its like a 2 hour Zumba cardio class, except its metal music and the entire floor is a mosh pit.
That's awesome!
Their success is mostly blending jpop and metal creating a new genre called cute metal. IMO the underlying, almost subconscious part is presenting the girls as performers and not sex objects like a lot of videos produced today.
I grow up with Black Sabbath. An Iron Maiden. Metallica. An BabyMetal is next. All bands have their up and down. Went to their concert twice already.
Thanks for being here
Thanks for the reaction! For Babymetal always go with their live performances! Their studio stuff is awesome, too, and their live stuff is even better!
For your next Babymetal reaction I’d suggest Headbanger! Live at Budokan Black Night, or Megitsune, Ijime Dame Zetaii.
I will be checking those out for sure
Great review guys. Road of Resistance was the first Babymetal video I ever saw and I’ve been a fan since. The person wo organizes the show is Kobametal. But, the whole thing started when he asked those three girls, who knew nothing about heavy metal at the time, to re-invent heavy metal.
And the invention was amazing!!
If you enjoyed this musically, I would strongly recommend listening to Sokoninaru - Tenohira De Odoru. It is an absolute banger with groove, and amazing vocals.
I will try to check it out
The age range of their fans is so diverse they at times have had separate shows for different age groups (Kids+Seniors / Adults)
I can see why
absolutely amazing and wonderful Love Babymetal 🇯🇵❤️🥺
I'm happy you're here, but watch out for that FoxHole...it's deep.
I seem to be falling down so many rabbit holes in this genre of music.
They are polite, humble girls and they won't kick your ass. They just stick their hands in your ears and eyes and grab your brain and heart and shake it😉
From Japan🌏🌍🌎🦊
(deepl Translation)
That is what I am afraid of LOL Thanks for being here
When I saw them this year the age range wasn't 20 to 60, it was about 7 to 70.
that would be so epic
God I wish the good ole' days of BabyMetal were back.
Rumour has it that they started as a school project gone wild. They were in a class they called Baby Metal.
This concert was on a Saturday night. The Monday after, her HS teacher asked Moa to talk in front of the class about her love for fried chicken. And she killed it.
Link to this info? Or even better, a video!??
Great fun reactions guys, great double up format as well, more Babymetal 🦊 🌈 👌 doesn't matter the track, as long as it's a live performance 👌

from Japan. Thankyou Thankyou very much! I’m veryvery Happy .It’s BABYMETAL TIME!
More Baby Metal to come for sure. Glad you enjoyed it
They are actually 21 and 23 now
Baby Metal watch the 2016 Download Festival it was the first time they played England they were supposed to play on one of the smaller stages they had one album out they had a band cancel at the last minute so they moved Baby Metal to the main stage it's the song KARATE it's the opening song they had never played in front of a crowd that big and we'll the rest is HISTORY
Haha that's awesome
baby metal HEADBANGER!!!!, 1997 live
.you will know how to headbang with this band
Thanks for being here
The fast way to tell the history of BABYMETAL is this I hope! They where part of school concept jpop group where all members toke classes together and sub units like an extra class! There is the star of BM. The success of BM was so big then producers decided to take one step higher and the rest are history!
They're being around the scene for almost 10 years now as you can see they give all in every song so if you let me recommend other great song please react to RONDO OF NIGHTMARE WITH MISCHIEF OF GOD INTRO live at Budokan or AKATSUKI live at BUDOKAN
Kitsune up! 🤘🦊🎸✨
Thanks for being here and we will check it out
Thank you Bruka!
Road of Resistance wasn't 7 years ago, but 5 years ago. Suzuka (main voice) is in my age (right now 23, she is from December so she is 22). So she was 17-18 when they made song. Just tip from fan
Thanks
@@GTReactions no problem, but I like this channel, thanks to youtube algorithm
This is for sure, 100%, one of the best BabyMetal reactions I've ever seen!!!! AWESOME!!!

The Band is the KAMI Band not Kanami
The Kanami Band is BAND-MAID. : )
Also very much worth a listen.

The only time ive ever seen a band and artist command a crowd like that is maybe Freddie Mercury at Wembley
I had the pleasure of seeing these girls last September in Saint Paul Minnesota.
Not gonna lie I am just a lil bit jealous

You’ve gotta react to babymetal’s song pa pa ya
The "Creator" is named KOBA-Metal........that's ALL i know.....Well one other thing, Babymetal was built around Su-metal, i believe BY "Koba-Metal", as SU has been part of a couple groups in Japan when she was younger (Su was 12 when BabyMetal started, she is 22 now), so Koba Metal came up with "Kawaii metal" or "Cute Metal"....
Thanks for the info and being here

The longish version of how they got together.
When Su was 10 she signed up to Amuse, a talent agency. Amuse put a group together called Karen Girls, who did the theme songs for an anime "Zettai Karen Children", they had a number 1 hit with a song called "Over The Future" . After the anime finished the group stopped, but Amuse wanted to keep the talent, so started an Idol group called "Sakura Gakuin", so they could keep the talent and add to the roster.
Moa and Yui did an audition for Sakura Gakuin doing the song "Over The Future" together, as they were friends that had met in dance competitions, also Yui was a big fan of Su's from the Karen Girls and the song Over the Future had special meaning to her. And they were invited to join Sakura Gakuin. Amuse with Sakura Gakuin, used to have a few managers, who they encouraged to do side projects/sub-units with the group. One of those managers was a former metal guitarist called Key Kobayashi/KobaMetal, who had heard Su sing and wanted to do some type of sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin with her, and came up with the idea of fusing metal and idol music together, and wanted 2 girls that would look like angels around Su. So they needed to be smaller than Su. With Su not being that tall, it could have proved hard, but Moa and Yui fit that bill, so he asked all 3 of them, them, and they liked the idea, and Babymetal was born.
Thanks for the info
Konami band, that takes me back to the sega days. (I'm sure it's Kami band) right guys?

@@GTReactions I totally agree it just keeps going surprises at every turn they have put a new look on music and I think that's what makes them so unique is that there is not really anything out there like them but in short love the videos keep up the good work and enjoy the journey
when asked about seeing Babymetal for the first time, Rob Zombie said: "I saw them the other day for the first time. I mean, I'd seen videos and stuff, but I saw them live for the first time the other day, and I just loved it; it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I mean, it was just like… Leave it to the Japanese to find a way to make fucking death metal cute. But it was awesome. And the crowd… The crowd was going fucking apeshit. The amount of crowdsurfing and stage diving and just complete mayhem, which made it even funnier, 'cause it's three cute little girls doing fucking karate on stage and shit, and these guys [that are backing them] are dressed like ghosts, all in white. It's the most bizarre fucking thing. It's totally worth watching; it's so good."
