I have NEVER even noticed that setting. Even when I went to look for it I went through the whole menu before I found it. Ill experiment with it next time I shoot. Thanks!
Hey thanks 🙏🏽. There is but very minimal you can notice it of your really pixel peeping but very hard to noticed, i think Constant Bit Rate 5:1 is the sweet spot
Very nice stylized color grade bro! I learned to become more of a minimalist when shooting footage. So turning off sharpening is the way to go. It gives your more flexibility in post when you're trying to push your grades to max. Pro mist along with some film grain makes it look close to being on film stock. Good content.
Not sure but I kinda tried this a bunch of times and you see it on both and I have a friend that’s Professional DOP here in NYC and we did a lot of testing it works on both thanks
I agree 100%, I think modern cameras are way too sharp and it’s not how our eyes see things! So I think you’re spot on with your intuition, I think less sharp = more cinematic. I swapped my Pocket 4K for a Canon C70 before I was able to try it out, bc it’s more practical with autofocus. I’m gonna see if there’s a sharpen setting that I can turn off, hopefully so. Btw check out Fatty Soprano’s videos, he uses Blackmagic cams and has some of my favorite footage, nice and soft, retro and very filmic. All the best!
That’s Awesome man the c70 is a sick camera 🎥 man, yea I’m pretty sure it has a sharpening values that you can turn off, and yea man ima give that channel a look ima big fan Movie stuff dude thanks!!!!!
Man that’s awesome we’re all here to learn I’m learning everyday looking forward to see some of your creations thanks for stopping by the channel dude!
The only thing I know Germans always get it right lol 😂 I’ve been an audio engineer for plus 15years and I mostly use German microphones especially Neumann, which I believe the pronounce it as Noimun lol
it looks like a blackmist , nice...i typed it bfore you said it but i think it has its use cases to get a different feel the good thing is that you now have options
Actually Wrong Too The Blackmagic Ursa Mini was announced in NAB 2015 in Las Vegas April 13 2015, and Arri Alexa Mini was Released on February 24th 2015 so I was kinda Right but thanks for the Devotion!
Go in the menu system press the record tab then swipe to the next page your going to see On the left sharpening On hit that tab and it turns it off. Hope that helps I didn’t disclose that part in the video assuming everyone who has this camera knows how to shut it off, Sorry but thanks!!!!
@@iamRickBonilla no worries. I found it and saw that it was already turned off so that's why I haven't seen extra sharpness. Also fyi, I discovered that shooting at 5.7k reduces the rolling shutter effect. Cheers
I use Contax Zeiss lenses with my 6K Pro and the sharpening was off by default. I love that vintage imperfect image.
I Agree man I’m the same to!!!!
I have NEVER even noticed that setting. Even when I went to look for it I went through the whole menu before I found it. Ill experiment with it next time I shoot. Thanks!
Ha! Great! Happy it worked for you! Yea it’s a bit tedious to find it.
Cool vid!,,
Thanks!, I always wanted to do this experiment! Any different outcome mixed with compression settings?

Thanks Brother!!!! Yea most definitely that is a lethal and organic workflow to do!!!!!
Hi folks. Good video Rick. But this feature sharpens the image while filming and only works with ProRes. It's not about BRAW files.
Not sure but I kinda tried this a bunch of times and you see it on both and I have a friend that’s Professional DOP here in NYC and we did a lot of testing it works on both thanks
Good stuff, man. Sharpening is an enemy nowadays if we’re looking for that film vibe! Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Thanks Man Yes Indeed thanks for stopping by the channel!!!!! 🙌🏼

Cool video, wish there would have been a quick clip of how to turn it off. I’ve had my 6k pro for a year and didn’t even know this was a thing.
Thanks man yea I should’ve showed how to to turn it off but it’s very simple it’s in the recording tab page 3 thanks for the love brother!
I believe vintage lenses are the best combatant to to the sharpening. I like your experiment a lot.
Yes indeed vintage lenses are awesome! Thanks for stopping by!!!!
I have the 4k unit and I'm new to cinema cameras. But I love movies so I'm looking forward to learning.

Minor point I know, but I think it's pronounced "Airy" since the full name is "Airi-flex" or actaully spelled Airriflex. It's a German company.

Dude! Arri copied Blacmagic, the Ursa mini was released way before the Arri mini. Ursa mini was released on 2014 and Alexa Mini announced on 2015
