You guys are doing a fantastic job with the BM Studio 6K setup, I use similar setup in my church. To get the most out of that camera you will need to add a 12G or 6G SDI return cable to that system, then all that would be required of your camera operator is to point and shoot. All other camera controls are done in studio. Remember it's a studio camera. Just repurpose one of your aux to program out and connect the return cable from ATEM to Studio Cam in. In the first page of setup menu, set the camera # to whatever place it's on the ATEM. That's it now you're ready to focus, zoom, colour and expose to perfection. Save the settings and restore next week. You will be exactly where you left off whenever you startup again.
That 2 M/E switcher is fantastic! The other thing I love about it is that it's got a ton of aux outputs too, so if they just want a specific camera for baptisms, they don't even need to use up their second M/E, they can just have an aux out that's mapped to that camera, freeing up M/E 2 for something else. Seriously so much flexibility in that one little box!
If you really want a "bang for buck" broadcast camera systems, the best bet IMO is to go for the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4k G2 and the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6. Same level of control for about $3,000 for the total camera package including all of the Blackmagic control accessories. The micro 4/3 sensor size is still larger than most broadcast camera sensors, and the crop factor makes for a 90-350mm equivalent on full frame sensors and the power zoom and focus control for the lens is compatible with the Blackmagic controls just like this Canon lens.
With the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6 we've got, with the focus/zoom demands I couldn't adjust the focus while I was zooming, it would only adjust focus when the zoom stopped. Maybe it's because I was testing on a Micro Studio 4k G2, but I'm questioning if that a lens issue? Have you run into the same issue @adrums_897?
Only thing missing is the Studio Converter that gives you one single Cat7-cable to the camera. No need for the SDI & DC-cable. Patch a few RJ45's on positions you like, and then you easily can move between them between takes.
I'm the engineer at my church. I'm watching this, pheww...I'm overwhelmed. Can I get suggestions on small churches? Unfortunately.. we don't have a large $10K+ budget. I'm all ears.
Kinda messed up that you have a ~$7K camera lens combo on a ~$800 tripod. My church uses cheaper sachtler tripods that we got for $1650 a piece with my student discount. Single latch setup and pretty much top of the line head for tripods under $3000. Beautiful setup non the less 👌🏻
Unfortunately, in this installation, there is no ability to control the Studio Camera, since a return SDI was not run to the camera (or better yet, the studio converter with an ethernet cable, which also provides power!) The Pocket Cinema Cameras can be controlled using a bi-directional converter. So, until the Studio Camera gets a return, there's no convenient way to color match and balance these three cameras. I would also recommend a color accurate monitor (with scopes, if budget allows) to help with this important process.
I need to see the video in action, I want to play it on my Soundbar at home and listen to the audio and the camera switching and of course the quality. please upload the music videos using BMD Studio cameras at least in 4K
I own that Manfrotto tripod and fluid head... it's not a real fluid head. If you never tried a real fluid head, I warmly suggest SCG ("Smooth Camera Gear", australian company), their line of fluid heads is simply on a totally different level but at a very similar price. Amazing and reliable customer service too. Maybe for such a light setup a T6 would be enough. I own T8 and they are good to balance up to 8kg of camera package. Sachtler quality of smoothness. When at long focal lenghts, it will make a huge difference.
Do you know if the speed feature on the zoom demand works with that Canon servo lens and BM Studio 6k camera package? Or does it only zoom at one speed?
What is the working distance of this combo? The 70-200mm on a super 35 sensor. Thinking about adding this to our church, but I want to see how close I can’t zoom. My camera is about 95ft from my subject
Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of a black stage background? I prefer them, but I'd be interested to know the actual reasoning behind it! Keep up the good work!
Are you able to pull focus at the same time as you zoom with the 6K and the Canon lens??? I tested the focus and zoom demands with a Blackmagic Micro Studio 4K G2 with a Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm f/4-5.6 lens, but it wouldn't allow me to adjust the focus as I was zooming. Only after I was done zooming, the focus would adjust abruptly. I bought a 6K and it's still in the box, and I was planning on picking up the canon lens with our new budget year as it just reset, but you can't return that lens with B&H, so I'm nervous to pull the trigger on the lens.
Getting ready to integrate BMDStudio6K setup. Im looking at using the micros for some secondary shots. Im looking for a budget friendly PTZ remote head that will work well with the micro studios. Any suggestions?
Hello, I would like you to help me with some opinions, I want to purchase a complete kit for live broadcast of my events and I don't know what I would need
Because they are using the bigger 2ME switcher instead of a mini switcher. Right tool for the job based on the environment. One reason would be the 2ME (and 1ME) have SDI input instead of HDMI. HDMI is not intended (by the standard) to go more than about 14’ before signal loss. SDI can go hundreds of feet with no loss.
Curious about the use of the wireless mics with the Stage Connect box. I thought the stage connect units didn't have preamps in them. Is there an external preamp unit we aren't seeing that the mics are hitting first? We use stage connect for outputs since we needed a ton of outputs in our upstairs booth and the console was in our downstairs booth and instead of running a bunch of cables, we were able to run one stage connect cable and its worked out really well!
We've got a couple of Sony a6400's w/Sigma lenses for our stream and this year would like to have a follow cam. Can the cameras be matched color-wise to the Sony's?
We are using A6400 and BM pocket 4K's side by side and If you match the WB by eye (not by the actual number) they are very similar. We reduced the saturation and sharpness on the Sonys.
$5k for that lens. We are looking at a similar setup, just not sure we want to spend that much on a servo lens and may stick with a regular one that is less than half the cost.
So they have a dante network in the wing, but are still choosing to mix the broadcast on the console? Seems like a wasted opportunity given how many macs you you setup for them that don't much any processing..

Resolution isn’t everything. The 6K Pro is mid-level technically but we now live in a day and age where mid-level is going to look a whole lot like high-end gear. If you have a 6K Pro, upgrading to a Red Komodo or similar high-end camera might improve your camera quality by 5%.
Buen trabajo.
Guys, serioulsy. If you're talking about not cutting costs for the fluid head, at least get a decent one, especially for a close range zoom. All manfrotto heads are trash when following subjects, especially diagonally, as they are all friction heads. Save yourselves the headache and get a proper fluid head, maybe a decent Sachtler.
We’re at the point when people don’t think twice about bringing items literally called black magic into a sanctuary. Yes, I know it’s a camera and not a witch doctor, but it’s little things like this that add up and move the goal post for holiness.
I can see, where you are coming for in regards to the name sake, but BMD products are literally the most cost effective solution for this kind of application.

Wow. I have waveform 12. First time I've seen it in a professional recording situation.
Congratulations nice and clear audio and video setup
I love this setup! We have these cameras and lenses in our inventory
Hey guys , please use ND filters on your camera for the filming of the church videos and keep the shutter speed consistent 😢.. Love the videos!

What's the distance between the podium and the follow camera position?
I wanna say 60-70ft
Do you know if the speed feature on the zoom demand works with that Canon servo lens and BM Studio 6k camera package? Or does it only zoom at one speed?
Can you control the speed of the zoom with the zoom demand? I want to buy the same setup but i here a lot of different story's.
Does the studio cam have continuous focus ?

Better contrast/separation. People/LED/scenic/etc all pop more against a dark background, especially when lit properly.
Still looking for cheap options for our church livestream .. Sony Nex f3

Wish there were budget friendly options for churches with less than a few hundred people
Thanks for this video! It helps a lot! One question... is the panasonic lens compatible with the BMD Studio 6K or the BMD Studio 4K? Thanks!
How do you get rid of the film crop in The blackmagic pocket cameras
What is the distance in feet from BMD 6K PRO to the talent on stage?

Why Boxcast over OBS multi stream with the same codec? Need help
How far from the front of the stage is the BM Studio camera with that lens? Thanks.

does it cost anything to apply/join the worship ministry school on your website?
Application and the strategy session is free. Once we learn more about your goals/situation we can give you a quote for the Accelerator Program.

The mic receiver typically has a line level out switchable.

Does the canon lens come with the motor on the side?
Yes it does
Good setup but a few things would have been better. Wireless transmitters for the the stage camera, follow focus systems and a better chair 😂
What acoustic panels did they go with?
ATS I believe.
Is this only for live? Or can it record as well?
The specs on the website say it records to a USB-C drive
No timecode out on the Studio 6k... nearly perfect camera
We've got a couple of Sony a6400's w/Sigma lenses for our stream and this year would like to have a follow cam. Can the cameras be matched color-wise to the Sony's?
Yes, you might need to develop a custom lut for the cameras but I think you could get them to look pretty darn great together.

The funny thing is that the canon lens likely costs more than the rest of the camera kit put together.
It sure does. Glass is definitely gonna be the highest ROI for camera gear.

How can we down sampling live 4K to 1080p ? For livestream record in 4k but live in 1080p how ?
Check out ATEM PRO ISO or Extreme for live broadcast at 1080.
