In engineering school they actually have you run calcs for a tube and then a tub with "flutes" they aren't shown as a barrel but they are effectively a barrel. Assuming the outside diameters are the same, the flutes actually make them stiffer.
I just built a 223 Wylde with their 18 inch fluted SPR barrel and it is unbelievably accurate with my hand loads. I have an extra Aero upper and lower laying around and am definitely thinking about putting together a 14.5" build.
Have you used the rifle shooting unsupported? I'm trying to decide between a heavier barrel or a lighter profile and I'm curious about balance.
I have not shot unsupported yet, everything has been done from a bench BUT when I remove the bipod and mount it's a reasonably lightweight build. I have a Primary Arms 1-8x Platinum on top which is a bit heavy. From dryfire partice unsupported I'd be ok at 100 yards. Moving further out would certainly be easier with a sling or something.
Per a friends recommendation (and my own research) I went with a 16" .223 Wylde Ballistic Advantage Hanson series Stainless Steel barrel for my first ever AR build. Scored mine on sale for $196 with a pinned gas block, excellent "bang for the buck" I'd say. Very nice, accurate shooter (with the VG6 Epsilon comp).
MrKlein83 I have the same barrel on my main AR. It loves 55gr vmax and 75gr otm but not much else
Damn, pinned and dimpled gas block! I don't think I have ever seen someone go that far, but it's surely bombproof! Lol
Great review! Just picked up the 18" version of this barrel. Will be running an SA adjustable gas block and Rugged Suppressors Razor. These barrels really are a great value...all of my previous BA barrels have more than exceeded my expectations. Thanks!
Thanks, brother! It'll be a tack driver so good luck on the new build.
The Lonestar Patriot Thanks! Hope to have it finished up in a few weeks.
New subscriber here, I'm a pro 2nd amendment LEO.
Thanks for your support, brother, and keep up the good fight!
Can you please do a updated video on the barrel and more barrel specs please
Did you ever do a follow up on this barrel's accuracy testing? I couldn't find it.
Nice barrel
Thanks brother and as always, thanks for tuning in!
Have the same and I love it.. A watermelon destroyer at 1000 mts
All my builds have Ballistic Advantage barrels👍🇺🇸✝️
Thanks for the report, brother!
There is supposed to be a slight gap between the gas block and gas block shoulder. That's why they put the dimple where they do
Yes, there is supposed to be a gap between the gas block and the gas block shoulder.
That gas block ain't going nowhere. Glad to see you back thought the snowflakes had you sure. That is a nice looking barrel. I like lightweight. That is why I'm a huge fan of the Faxon pencil profile barrel.
The Lonestar Patriot LOL
I just got the 14.5 Hanson profile stainless. If it shoots better then my 18” LaRue SPR I’m gunna be pissed. I’ll test it soon .
So? What happened bro?
Email me at blackdog471@mac.com and I’ll send you the results.
@@johnviera3884 he must be pissed 😤
May I ask what your longest shoot with this
Is this considered a heavy profile barrel?
You guys tested the accuracy yet? I really want to know how it shoots.
KInda aggrivateing they haven't. Who care how pretty a barrel is if it doesn't shoot sub moa?
It’s more rigid than a pencil barrel. While lighter than a bull barrel. Of course it’s not as rigid as a full thick heavy bull barrel. It’s the best compromise
I use my BA pencil barrel for a $240.00 pry bar! Originally it saved lives by not being able to hit shit! And yes I took advantage of their 1 moa Guarantee the second barrel couldnt hit a barn door if you pressed the barrel aginst it ! (slightly exaggerated)...
Try tightening the barrel nut, bot
All the experts say flutting increases rigidity.
I'll stick with compass lake for that truly 1/2 moa barrel.
Why are you worried about moa accuracy when it’s a home defense gun? Even a cheap barrel is good for that.
Ballistic Disadvantage barrels !
