I did a thorough review of the DeWalt 60 Volt Max Self-Propelled (Rear Wheel Drive) 21.5" Brushless Electric Lawn Mower. It came with the two 60V 12Ah FlexVolt batteries and two 4 Amp chargers.
Canada Model #: DCMWSP650Y2-CA
United States Model #: DCMWSP650Y2 - Навчання та стиль
I have the 12ah charger, works like a dream
I have this very mower, accept I purchased the 6 Amp 2 stage charger (DCB1106). A little faster on the charge, and for battery storage you can stop the charge after stage 1 (80%).
Good video, lovely mower!
Thanks! But why would you undercharge the battery for storage? I've never heard of that idea before.
@@CanadianOptionsTrader It's the same for any type of battery. It can help with the life-time of them. The more you charge them to max, the more their capacity degrades.
That's also the reason the DCB1106 exists, and why [some newer] phones have the battery saver mode, which keeps it at around 80-85% charge.
There's a whole study and discussion about it, which would make this reply about a complete thesaurus worth.
@@CanadianOptionsTrader I should also add; The 80% charge portion is super fast!
Thanks for posting this video. I have one that will be coming in soon but they're back ordered and there's not many videos of the new model. If you get the DeWalt fast charger, it's 8 amp charger and will charge those batteries twice as fast
Ok, thanks! I will definitely look into the faster charger!
@@CanadianOptionsTrader they're about 100 retail us but if you have like Facebook market or something similar I was able to get one for $40. They also make a USB DeWalt charger that will rapid charge batteries as well if you're going to invest in another charger and would like the functionality of using USB
Thanks for the review, not many out there yet. I'm not impressed though. That shallow deck isn't going to generate much lift and only being able to use one battery at a time is a hassle, along with the upside down loading. The blades look skimpy as well. I don't understand what DeWalt is thinking. If you have other tools to use the batteries in I guess it could make sense. Essentially a $200 mower with $600 worth of batteries.
It's definitely a high price to pay for a lawn mower that has several trade-offs and deficiencies.
Flex volt means that the battery can be used with 60v or 20v systems.
Thanks for this review, I'm about to order one myself. I'm not sure if I heard you correctly but are you able to disengage the self propelling feature and just push it ?
Yes, you do not have to use the self propulsion. The black wire bar engages the cutting blades, and the grey thumb button drives the rear wheel. They are separate controls that both work without using the other.
The battery can be used in all 20 volt up to 60 volt dewalt tools
Good to know! Thanks for this info! I may eventually want to try the DeWalt leaf blower using these same batteries.
20 volt means you can use them batteries on the 20 volt tools. It’s a multi volt battery
Good to know! Thanks for this info! I may eventually want to try the DeWalt leaf blower using these same batteries.
Get the faster charger and you will alleviate the issue you have, or a 3rd battery.
Ok, thanks! I will definitely look into the faster charger!
If you cut without using the self propel that exponentially increases your run time fyi
Yes, that makes sense! I've tried that as well, since posting this video.
You may want to invest in a faster charger being you a pretty large yard have 6 amp charger its 3x faster
Ok, thanks! I will definitely look into the faster charger!
This kit actually comes with the 4 amp charger because their flex volt batteries. But I do agree I have the 8 amp fast charger and it makes a world of a difference with the flex volts
@mistabeatz5786 ah I see I assumed it was the 2 amp chargers
@@CanadianOptionsTrader other option if you commit to dewalt is the 4 port fast charger. I use this on the last gen 2 x 20v x 10ah mower (yours cuts a lot better and doesn't hold clippings, looks nice) and it works great between all my tools and chargers much faster.
The way you keep trying to plug the podcast is a little cringe
Lol! I'm just trying to help by giving free information and empower viewers to learn about personal finance and DIY investing. I receive zero compensation for any of this. This video was an attempt to introduce my channel to a slightly different DIY audience.
@@CanadianOptionsTraderI give you credit. That was a very positive response to a rather negative one.
you have a 20v charger for a 60 volt battery and complaining it takes too long?...order yourself the better charger and stop using the low end charger
You make it sound like this is common knowledge or something. How would I know this when purchasing the lawn mower? All these items came together in the same box.
