  • The past few weeks of isolation for everyone around the world has been an interesting time to say the least. With important work still to be done though, the race has been on to get content online and stay connected with your peers, students & colleagues. It has been really impressive watching everyone jump in head first, and I hope this video helps anyone who is considering the UC9020 or a similar switcher to improve their content delivery. Please reach out if you have any questions about this unit or streaming in general.

    I can't find any Atem Pros for sale, would you consider this a good replacement? Will it scale mismatched video inputs?

      @@DcSoundOp canon n500?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 роки тому +1

      The CR-N500 (assuming that's what you've got) has HDMI & SDi output, so you'd just need to use the HDMI out to connect to this switcher. You'd still need to control the PTZ part from a separate laptop or controller, as this switcher obviously doesn't do that & you won't get 4K with this switcher. So it should work, but if you're dropping $5k per camera on PTZ of that quality, you might want a switcher that can keep with what it can do.

    And can it stream to zoom/teams etc?

    I feel this product is just misplaced. With this and a modern iPad a blackmagic design atem live stream and a computer or MacBook would be a better experience and price.

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  4 роки тому +1

      I’m not sure how you mean misplaced? I would choose the black magic & computer setup too for flexibility and features, but there is a big trade off in learning curve there for someone just looking to get online. I don’t think these are trying to compete with those more pro options, and that certainly wasn’t how I intended to present them. Thanks for the message!

      @@DcSoundOp you coverage of the product is perfect. I just don't understand this product as released by the manufacturer. It just don't seem competitive to other items in the same bracket.
      So either it is over priced and needs to be $200-300 or it needs more then 2 inputs to justify the $1200. The product as it is today is just misplaced.

    do i need ipad or will a iphone do?

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure if the app will run on an iPhone... it should, but it would be really hard to work on a screen that small for this. I felt like the iPad mini we tested with was too small.

    So it's got a USB Type-A socket for the link to the iPad and therefore requires an A to A cable to connect to the iPad? That's very disappointing!

    • @DcSoundOp
      @DcSoundOp  4 роки тому

      Yes, unless you have the latest iPad Pro with the USB-C connector, you need to use the Apple camera connector to power and connect to the iPad at the same time.

      @@DcSoundOp That's not the issue. The "Host" connector is the USB Type A. The "Device" connector is generally accepted as a USB Type B. They should have used the correct type of connector on the Aten device. More light reading here: theydiffer.com/difference-between-usb-type-a-and-usb-type-b/ :-)

      @@davidelsbury2917 I know this seems strange but it kinda makes sense in this case - they include the A-A cable in the box, and if you're an iPad Pro user, chances are you already own a USB A male to USB C male cable, so you can use that right away to connect your iPad to the switcher. I'd venture to guess that this is going to become more popular as USB Type C becomes more prevalent. It makes it more convenient for future proofing and for the bulk of users that will be using USB-C devices to use cables they already own, but including the A-A cable in the box ensures backwards compatibility with non USB-C devices.

    • @vannk73
      @vannk73 4 роки тому

      Idiots with a USB A-A cable might connect two PC's together and fry the motherboard and/or power supply. However, you have to consider that ATEN designed this with iPad in mind. For the iPad Pro, you can just use your regular charging cable. A USB-C to USB-B cable is going to be a bit harder to find.

    They priced this thing out of being an option for anyone. If Blackmagic can you production on the ATEM Mini and Mini Pro no one will buy this. Sorry not sorry. If this thing was 400 bucks maybe but for 1000 no freaking way.
