Back in the day, when walking around the center console if you brushed up against my Loran antenna it will get glass on you. I did something similar and sanded it down then used Krylon clear coat and worked like a charm and lasted several seasons. For those of you that don't know, Loran is what we old-timers used before everybody had GPS.
I had the same problem with a stiffy pole but instead of using paint , I used thick electrical shrink tube, slide it on and use a heat gun to shrink it , last for years
Wow. It looks awesome. Do a couple of follow ups on the clear coating. Let us know how it holds up in the saltwater. And do a follow up video on your grass also. I want to know how long it will keep your grass shining with clear coating on it. Lol.
@see_you_out_there thank you. I have a bin full of 30 different spray paint from various projects. So I went with colorful krylon fusion. However I just ordered 4 feet of heat shrink. Should at least cover where my hands go.
You have my thanks ive been looking for a video on how to sand a fiber glass pole. And it is great
Thanks for watching and the kind words
Refurbed ours last year. Used Red 3M scuff pads to sand it down then Clear Spar Urethane. Put about 4 coats on it...an hour apart. Worked great.
I didn't think about the scuff pads, that's a solid idea

Loran C is what I learned to run back in my deck hand days!
This video was great. I was about to wrap my push pole in electrical tape. The is a way better fix
Awesome, hope it works for you!! I did find I needed to recoat once a season but its super easy.
Thanks for the video. My stake out stick is giving me glass slinters. I'm going to try this method right now.
Awesome Brother, hope it works for you!!
@@see_you_out_there it's drying now from 3 coats. I'll be testing it out tomorrow. Thanks again. This beats wrapping it with electric tape.
Let me know what you think Brother
Life saver!

LOL, Corey will kill me if I have killed a patch of grass in the front yard!!!!!
Lol...... I figured she is at work.
2 years later.....hows it going?
It's taken another coat since then but overall I'd say it's holding up pretty well!!!
@see_you_out_there thank you.
