A good carbon fiber and fiberglass paddle stuck in the grass works great from the kayak in skinny water. Know what your bottom is of course. Shove it down, tie it off, and use the paddle for balance when dismounting the kayak to get out and wade. I like to get into the super skinny at dead low tide where I know there will be tailing reds and wait for them to show up when the water starts to slide up onto the flat. Lots of elements here are parallel with hunting. Slip in your setup before your quarry come through. Wait for your them to come into your setup. Be ready. Wait for the best moment. Make a good shot. With my jon boat I use a bamboo pole and it lives against the gunwale of the boat until I want to either use it like a kayak paddle, a push pole, or shove it down in the mud or sand and tie off. Bamboo is free and biodegradable.
I use portable rod holders that swivel and mounted them to the side of either boat, that way you can store it along side of boat and don't need a straight line to store them use velcro strap to keep in place. Use the dollar store noodle about 6 inches and tie my anchor rope between that and the handle.
Great thoughts! I made an anchor pole myself. I cut an 8' stick of 1" schedule 40 pvc pipe in half, put a male adapter on one end and a female adapter on the other for joining the two 4' pieces together on the water where needed, put a tee one one end for the handle and saw cut the ground end on a 45 degree angle for the sturdy point. I put a 3' piece of grey foam pipe wrap for 1" pipe on the upper 4' piece for floating and tied on a 10' piece of rope on. The two 4' pieces are easy to store, the point goes into any bottom and it works all for under $10.00. Of course you can make the sections any size or quantity you want and as long as you prefer.
^^^THIS!!!^^^ Add additional male/female connections for more length. Optional: Cut an aluminum or stainless steel pipe at an angle and rivet inside of the PVC tip for an even more durable pointy end. Option 2: Shove the INSIDE of the rod, near the handle.
I have two Stick-it Anchor Pins. Use on a 21’ bassboat. Bought first one probably 7 years ago and trimmed it down to fit in rod locker (7’ 5”). Second is 8’ and used often....including four times today!
Informative video. I just bought a used Bass boat and a couple of these were included with the boat. I wasn't sure how to use them. Now I know how. Thanks again. 👍👍
I took a chance on a Stick-Pin back in January of last year for my 16 footer... Game changer! Easy to use and so quite to deploy and retrieve. However! Make sure that your tether is connected to the pole and to the boat. My first tether was a velcro type that went around the pole, yep I was stupid to think that would hold when it got windy. Also, I never leave without my Danforth type anchor but it gets lonely. Thanks Luke good content and as always Tight Lines and Full Limits To Ya 🎣
Yea, I’m gonna have to get one of these. Tired of my trying to anchor in a cove and failing over and over and over for 30+ minutes like I did earlier today.
I just made 2 poles for my kayak. 6 ft. solid fiberglass tree stakes from walmart on clearance for 3.50 each and 5 dollars worth of pvc fitting from local hardware store. Thanks for tip about pool noodle was concerned about them falling over and sinking.
I have the yak attack park and pole for use in my kayak. Two 4 foot increments that screw together and floats. Also I bought an additional 4 foot length to add to 8 foot for 12 total for pole use in the flats. Works great. 😮
I've been using a 10' stick pin for a few years. Use a swim noodle on it. The noodles from Walmart are too wide inside, the dollar tree noodles are perfect. We use it on the rear with a standard river anchor up front. The rear stick-it keeps the boat from swaying. 1800# boat. Only problem we have is boats flying by in a no wake zone. Their illegal wake can pull a stick jammed 3' deep into the bottom
I have a rod rack across the back of my boat it holds 6 monster rod holders my point is I would want 2 sticks one on each side of the boat to keep the stern square with the area I'm fishing.
I have a piece of pvc pipe I use on my kayak. Goes right through the scupper holes. I've been wanting to get a second one to keep the boat angled in the direction I want it.
What two piece anchor pins do you recommend? I have an inflatable kayak and i really want to minimize the size/amount of stuff i have to fit into my car.
I need one for my jet ski and you had me at "comes in three pieces" but the Amazon reviews aren't as good as the YakGear - YakStick Floating Stake-Out Stick (which is in one piece). Do you own the one from Vibe, and if so, thoughts?
Max-gains systems is a company that sells all the components to build your own.i just bought the parts to build a pin with three 4’ pieces that screw together i can have a 4’,8’,or 12’ with a stainless tip and polymer handle! For $100
I have had 2 -6' stickem poles for three years and the fiber glass has started coming off and is like little needles sticking into your hand when you stick it. Does anyone have any suggestions buy some new ones or try and fix the old ones?

That'll get the job done!
Putting two of these on my "gotta get" list for my 20' deckboat. Looks a heck of a lot more convenient than the normal anchor.
It's definitely easier than traditional anchors as long as you're in shallow water and the bottom isn't rocky.

@@bigd7861 What does that reply mean?
Way too flimsy to hold the boat in the wind I fish in

Small revision: The second anchor is made by PowerPole and bought at Bass Pro Shop. Used it so I could type this correction.

Thanks so much for making time to leave the nice comment!

I'm a fan of DIY's and this sounds interesting...do you have pictures posted somewhere or did you find this on another video by chance?
@@redbirdsjunkie It’s on a video

Another use for them is for a depth indicator. I've marked where the gunwale would be on the pole if I run aground.

I hear you... boats flying by in a no wake zone are super super annoying. We need some rangers hiding on the bank with radar guns, lol.
Thanks Luke. Another great tip.
I have the 8’ ParkNPole.
It was awesome for my kayak.
Now I will be using it for my first boat.
I can even do a bit of light polling with it.
I have used a pole anchor for years and they work fantastic . Great information on the different types of them.
This is now a must have for me now.
I made my own for under 20 bucks works great dude on UA-cam has a video

just what I needed to know. thanks
Cork float on the rope or line of your pole is good way to retrieve as well
Thanks for the feedback

Dustin CE Do you worry about damaging the scupper holes?
That's a great idea
Do you need a mount on the boat to or do you just tie off on a cleat ?
Either, I just bought a mount for mine called the "Brake", but I'll also just tie to off on a spot on my boat as well where needed
I use one of those green garden stakes from Lowes/HD approx 6+ ft. Works great for my kayak.
William Whittle me too. Really all I need. Works great.

Good call bro!!
I'm not seeing the links for these poles
Does the color make any difference? Does the black one get any hotter?
I have one made by Power Pole. I have had some problems with it holding in windy conditions. The one I have is 8' long.
What would you recommend for anchoring over oyster beds?
An oyster anchor... :-) .
Distance... from the oysters.
Would this work on a 20’ pontoon boat? The weight would probably pull this out right?
What's the rope you're using?
Nice work on this... just got a kayak with one of the collapsible fluke anchors, NOT working, thanks for the education.. AND, not a sales job...
What knot you use on the white pole?
What two piece anchor pins do you recommend? I have an inflatable kayak and i really want to minimize the size/amount of stuff i have to fit into my car.
Try the kingpin mounting system. Works good.
Great explanation!
What size power pole is that?
Nice video - great info
Nice video
Vibe makes a nice one for $45 it comes in three pieces so you can break it down and a metal tip and it's 7 ft long.
Thanks for leaving the helpful tip Charles!

I just bought a Panther 12' 2 piece. Its heavy with stainless tip and pool q type connection.
You didn't demonstrate how you tie them up...where you tie them...how much rope to leave out...etc.
Nice

Have a brand new 10ft one still in shipping container.

Waterproof tape
Sand it and put fresh resin on it.
Or gorilla tape it if you wanna go that route.
no tape IMHO, sand and poly or resin. Even shellac will work for a while
Lol. Stick it. Thicker. Slides in. Think about it
You got sex-on-the-brain damage. Are you 13 years old?
60 -$90?!, for a fiberglass rod?! Man THERE are some ignorant "sportsmen" out there.
Stick it in a rod holder. Out of the way.
