Home made mosquito salve
1 Cup olive oil
large handful or plantain weed
Rip up plantain weed and put into a pint lar or larger
Cover with EVOO. Muddle to mush up the leaves into the oil just a little. Cover and let sit for 30 days.
At the end of 30 days measure out 1 cup of olive oil and strain out any leaves. Throw the leaves away. Add 2 Tablespoons melted beeswax and stir in olive oil. while it is still warm pour into small jars and place lid on jars. Store in a cool place until you use. It will thicken up as the beeswax hardens.
To use, rub a small amount on any bite or itch. This will calm the itch.

@@LittleHillHomesteadGa We are in Menifee in Southern Riverside County. For 24 years before moving here we lived in the San Bernardino mountains in the town of Crestline. I grew up in Riverside county and my husband's family was in Orange county. We also have family in Shasta county in Northern CA.
We were in Rancho Cucamonga area for lots of marriage. Hubby is from walnut and I’m from Monrovia. We do have family in riverside and the mountains. Remember those terrible fires in Crestline?!?!

What is plantain weed? Is it the green plantain skin?
I need to try to make this bug bite salve. Anytime I go outside I get bite. It can take days before it starts to itch and itches a long time. I have a prescription to help with the itch, but I'd prefer to use something natural.
Look it up based on your area. It grows in the yard like a weed
