Will this TOTALED 1971 Lemans Run and Drive Again?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 лют 2024
- I bought this 1971 Pontiac Lemans Sport for $500, it is absolutely rotted away, resembling a shipwreck more than a car. It will run and drive again though, because it is a Pontiac.

Thanks buddy!
I love that one light coming on, as though the car is saying "Oh, hey, whoa, I'm alive, I'm awake!" (Probably followed by a "...Why does my ass hurt?")
Prison does things to people!
That was a no lube included moment for the old LeMans.
😂😂😂😂❤❤😅😅😅😅😅
@Gunny426HemiPlymouth lmao!! It's always Christmas in prison.
Woke up from a coma and had a gay nurse. I thought I was ruffied!
Removes rust..."Youre gonna make the car disappear!" That slayed me 😀😁😆🤣
😂😂😂😂
Same 😂😂😂
I think your doors being shut has become an essential part of the car’s structural integrity.
The fact this is actually running and driving is fucking nuts 😂 the burnout was amazing
It's a Pontiac 🤷
We Require a Collaboration video Stat!!! Yall try make that happen Boy's 😎
@@PoleBarnGaragethe parts alone trim buckets worth 800buvks. Like I said had 71 lemans wrecked driver side took engine 3speed rear buckets for parts
Lmfao the things you do to entertain us😂😂😂
murica
That truck tried it's hardest to make little trucks outta that Lemans
Think of all the El Caminos that could have been made
Sadly here in America we're incapable of making physically __little__ trucks anymore... ;_;
🤣
I got to say, I towed in some real garbage back in my days, 85-91 from the finest yards and driveways here in around southern Pitsburgh. I can truly testify my old man wouldn't have looked twice at trying start something of this doneness, knowing he was probably paid to take it away. you are true artist of rejuvenating "pile of crap."
I’ve been going through a tough time with my dads cancer and this made me forget all that for an hour, dalton thank you I just hope me and him can have more time in the shop to do sketchy stuff like you and your boy ❤
Praying for him and you
@@PoleBarnGarage thank you dalton, means the world
when you said LS what? You are my hero!!!..Pontiac man for over40 years..
Nothing more boring and uninspired than another LS blah blah blah... Pontiacs forever
I love how authentic he is. No matter how bad of a day I'm having, his videos cheer me up. He an every mans man and he will at this point try to save anything as long as it has 35% of it's structure left 😂
I've been doing mechanic work since 1988. I never ever found a rat in water pump. Thanks for sharing, great video
Rochester, NY here. Glad to hear you enjoy our carbs. Take some time and enjoy our photographic film, copiers and sunglasses. If you ever visit, we'll hook you up. With what, I don't know, but something.
Crabs? 🤣
At some point in my life, I worked at Rochester Products (was AC Rochester at the time), Kodak, Xerox and B&L when I lived in Rochester.
@@JeffKopis no. Carbs. As in carbohydrates. Google "garbage plate" lol
Nick Tahoe’s. He’d appreciate it.
This is why I love this channel....!! You are the ONLY one I've seen on the internet to really showcase how great/tough the old Pontiacs really were....that was all my family drove thru the 60's and 70's....I wished I had one now.....keep up the good work and yes, a good body for that engine/trans would make for great content.
Now it’s an early 80’s Cadillac Seville!
I just posted something similar LOL Glad im not the only one to see that hee hee
From the moment I saw that car I was thinking well that's not going anywhere, and of course you had to prove me wrong. Well you don't really have a body but you got a nice sounding drivetrain 😉 you're an absolute legend taking that pile of us down the road, man doing a burnout 😂 keep up the great work in the awesome content guys 👍✌️🇺🇲
Lol watching you drag that pos across the yard had me in tears.
this episode is freaking great
dalton: im a genius
dalton: 2 minutes im dumb
jess: giggling and crawling into rustiest broken down pile ever to clean the windshield
dalton: it removes rust jess your gonna make the car disappear
this is the greatest thing ive seen on youtube in a while
the kitty going through the car was a nice touch
I really enjoy junkyard digs channel. But pole barn garage cracks me up. Love dudes attitude. Keep up the good work guys.
Dalton, you officially become the Pontiac whisperer. Should be a T-shirt.
I just renewed my membership to the greatest UA-cam channel out there. Thanks, Dalton.
You are right, I just thought the other car was rusty 😂. Congratulations on getting a new shop. You definitely deserve it and need it.
Dalton invented a new body style. The rampback.
Unbelievable how good that motor run for sitting so long it's crazy just how bad it has rusted.
I really cannot belive you got it running, driving, moving and stopping! Insane. Great watch after a long week of work. Cool man
That for sure needs to go where the neighbors can see it!
You, sir... are making me wanna buy an old pontiac, and I'm not complaining
That laugh when the truck rolls on the trunk of the car…priceless😂
What a stupid thing to do
Why
Makes for great content but probably not the best idea if the fuzz were around
@@PoleBarnGarage thanks for liking my comment.
I was wondering when you plan on making the film you've mentioned in previous video's a 70's era car chase. Also are some of the cars your stock pileing for that purpose?
I'm sure you've seen the original film "Gone in 60 Seconds" the actor and producer use 40 of his own cars in the film with 96 in total being wrecked longest chase in filming history
@@PoleBarnGarageIm gonna take a guess and say he thinks its stupid because in his mind you should ship it to a "real shop" and waste a quarter mill on a "proper restoration". I personally love your approach of a making cheap decent looking drivers that have more style than anything made after 1987.
Pin of shame, pin of shame, pin of shame!!
I call that restoration a complete success, take it to the next Pontiac Show & Shine !
Nothing beats an episode of Pole Barn Garage, one crazy SOB taking that thing out on the street. Keep up the great work,
Gotta love it
49:49 "eMans Sport" now that's a proper name to an adult website for Jag-owners, if I ever saw one, indeed.
I used to always check spark with the cap off and had terrible results, then one day this old timer showed me a trick where you put the cap on and then to spark and it was way better
Crushed trunk - that was a GM design back in the early 80's! Remember that Caddy with the crushed trunk and big fake spare tire "bling"???
Good old Rochester 2-jet... first carb I rebuilt 32 years ago at age 12. The first of hundreds. Dirt track roundy round racing taught me how to build one into a literal fuel toilet that worked like an on/off switch that was good for only two things: idle, and feeding a 500hp small block at 9,000RPM.
Dalton, that is by far, the Rustiest car on UA-cam EVER. This is my favourite episode I’ve ever seen of yours. When you drove up the rear of that car, that was Epic.
Jess is such a good sport, and you have just the right amount of hold my beer, and I don’t give a craps…. I can’t believe how well this car ran, it’s an awesome parts score.
That’s a rare Pontiac slant back. One of a kind.
I am very impressed that you got that Heap running and drivable? Crazy.. Love it. It's true. Pontiacs never die.
😂😂 I really thought the truck was going to rip it in half lol and the water pump part was hilarious lol RIP Mickey 🐭
I had a 72 Lemans with a 70 front bumper on it back in the 80s when I was 20. Got in a few chases with it. It was surprisingly quick for having a lowly 307 with two different size heads on it,a camshaft with two lobes that were almost round and flattened headers from doing dukes of hazard stuff in it. It had drum brakes all around that sometimes wouldn’t work at all, pedal would hit the floor without slowing down but two minutes later would work again,go figure. It was in good shape bodywise but after I got out of a 9 month jail sentence at 22 years old for a high speed chase I was in,I gave the car to an auto wrecker as they were all over the place and still cheap to buy. Now I wish I kept it because we’ll,you know, hindsight. Hello from British Columbia 😊
The car driving down the road with that crushed rear end was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Glad to see someone that likes Pontiacs. The only one I ever owned (don't diss me) was a 1986 Pontiac LeMans which was Korean built and a real POS. It was all I could afford after my divorce from my 1st wife and I traded in a 1976 Pinto Station Wagon that an aunt had given me for it. For some reason I traded it off for a 1992 Pontiac GrandAm, another POS.
I live up on top of a mountain in Eastern Kentucky. One of my earliest memories is my uncle driving me amd my dad home one winter. He was driving a dark green 71 t37 Lemans. He tried to take us to the top of the hill but got stuck almost midway. We got out of the car and walked the rest of the way up. My uncle tried to back it back down but ended up sliding down the hill and over the mountain side on the steepest side of the road. The car rolled over a bunch of times and ended up on its top after smacking a few trees on the way. Absolutely ruined the car. It sat next to our family cemetery till my grandpaw died then we scraped it along with a wrecked black 64 impala, wrecked 71 C20 3onTree 250 6cyl, he never had good luck with vehicles. But thank God he gave his Mint condition SeaFoam Green 64 SS Impala to his only Son. My cousin now has the Car restored and repainted a real pretty blue color. I begged him to paint ot back OEM color but he didnt. Ive posted a video of the Imapala if you wanna see it.
Idea on how to save it;
Start by dropping a new frame onto it, maybe a longer frame
Cut the entire trunk off
Fix the body dents, rust, etc, widen the back window some
Do a "cuban" to it and use some spare metal or whatever will fit, make it into a Ford Pinto wagon looking rear end thing, weld everything together and wire up some taillights that match the aesthetic
Hatch? either diy or one that fits what you've done
Finally, finalize everything, new interior, new paint job (if wanted), and boom. Custom, saved, Pontiac Lemans wagon thing.
Fantastic! Your creativity is inspiring and reminds me that there is nothing that a ratchet strap or self-tapper will not hold in place....except for oil in a totally rotted gearbox sump I suppose.
To hear that engine find all of its cylinders was magical. To hear the gearbox shift perfectly was the icing on the cake. When you cruised to a stop just short of home and we could hear something underneath dragging heavily, I thought it had finally fallen in half, but no - she'd just got a bit overwhelmed after the burnout. Amazing what will still hold together enough to drive and put a smile on the old dial, eh? Well done, sir! Well done!
I'm convinced that this guy could get anything running. ANYTHING
The best automotive channel on UA-cam no script all crap pure gold
This with one of the funniest episodes. The fuel tank falling out or you running up on that poor hapless rust bucket.
That was one hell of a revival!….. I’m a true believer now and my new favourite car is the LeMans
That esquisit and unique ramp back is almost like the back of the Buick that Kojak had in the 70s
The new Pole Barn drinking game, every episode mention a feature word at the start. We drink when you say it. This weeks could have been PONTIAC. You could get pretty buzzed in an hour.
man love how you all just have fun with everything.
Most people would have left it in the junk yard. Glad you got it up and running again. Great Job.
I seriously would like a new trend to be flawlessly painting a car like that without fixing the damage.
13:00 You figured out how those weird cadillacs were made 😂
One thing about Pole Barn, so very funny 🤣 and entertaining! There's never a dull moment and the family fun is priceless! Great video. Thanks 👍.
CUTEEEE CAT 4:27
You should make an "LS What, no thanks!" T-Shirt 😂
Pure Gold buddy 🤣🤣
Dalton is an absolute maniac and im here for it. Ive literally never seen anyone else put forth so mich effort on such a heap. its beautiful
Great save Dalton. Congratulations on the new structure also.
You are so correct!
You can NEVER kill a Pontiac engine!!
I was amazed at how powerful that sounded without any timing or tuning!!
Tho I swapped my Rochester 2 bbl for Carter AFB’s in my 62 Cat and a 4 bbl Quadrajet for my 77 , the Rochester 2GC is indestructible and very tunable either for economy or power!!❤❤
Pontiacs FOREVER!!❤❤❤
That sounds pretty damn nice for a clunker! Top work, as ever, big D.
Gotta say for somebody who works full time your release schedule is legit and I love your snark 🤣
I’ve known of this channel for years ever since that GTO build made the rounds on the Internet, this is my first time actually watching a video, and I’ve gotta say it’s fun, entertaining, and feels like a country bumpkin version of the “Aging Wheels” UA-cam channel.. & that’s a very good thing!
Awesome thanks!
Always a riot watching this channel 😂 So good.....
Looking forward to seeing the new buildling/shop! You deserve it Dalton.
watching you get parts cars to run and drive better than my ls swapped project car never ceases to amaze me!
Early 80’s Grand Prix would be an awesome candidate for that 350 combo Dalton!! Strong runnin sumbitch it is!
Dude😮, holy POS rust bucket! 🤣You have no idea how much laughter and smiles we get from these... THANKS for doing what you do!!
You are the madd scientist of cars! I love it
Beautiful Lucy she's just doing her job getting rid of what's left of any rodents
Perfect frame off restoration candidate right there.
Dalton my dude you damn sure know how to good time!! And congrats on the car, 500 bucks for running 350, driving n shifting tranny, and a ton of other bits and pieces, that's a steal IMO!! Hell to be honest with ya just driving around and laying rubber is bout worth $500 lol.
The fuel tank making its escape as Dalton is pulling the car!!😂😂
This channel never disappoints! Excellent video, very entertaining!
Your right Sir. You can't kill a Pontiac!! I'm 54 and grew up on these cars. My favorite one was my Uncles 69 Grand Prix SJ. It was dark metallic blue with white interior. I will always love Pontiacs. Keep the great video's coming.
That's why I love this channel no matter what you seem to see the best in anything great video enjoy watching keep up the great work
"I'm pretty much a genius.." *runs self tapper into the door* 😂
This is one of the funniest car channel out there
I never would have thought that engine would run, let alone drive. If nothing else, you have a Pontiac 350 engine rated at 320 hp and a good trans for $500! Not bad at all. I'm an Olds man but love all BOP stuff. Great video.
To quote Mustie1 “she’s a peach!”
Definitely one to have fun with!
When the 350 Pontiac engine spun I was impressed.
When the ignition key made the engine spin I was impressed.
When the distributor made spark….
Impressed.
And THEN IT FIRED!
Holly cow!
You should buy a lottery ticket.
Great video thanks!
@12:40
...And that's how El Caminos are made.
Probably the best thing other than the sheer mechanical pleasure of that motor in there is the SMELL of it when it runs.. it SMELLS like an engine SHOULD smell. You put an LS or something with 20 miles of electronics and wires and sensors and CATs in it.. the exhaust just straight up STINKS. They smell WAY worse for the 'environment' (whatever that even means) than an older mechanical engine. They smell SO good, smells like power and strength... and FUN.
2 weeks later and I'm finally watching the last half of the video. None of this was safe or a good idea. Thank you.
Dalton, again you provided us with pure delight entertainment. Jess is such a trooper, during the ride it appeared she had to rest her feet on the transmission. To me it was incredible that you got the car to start and run so well. This channel just does not disappoint.
12:43 If you look closely at this particular part of the video you will bare witness to the rarely seen mating dance of a 454 powered squarebody Chevrolet trying desperately to win favor over an older Pontiac car and potential life partner in the squarebody's eyes. This has been car geographical
Best will it start video I’ve seen in a long time, Dalton and Jess! Good job brother, I can’t believe you got her driving down the road again! Yall are wild, thanks for sharing! Louisiana sending prayers and positive vibes your way! Yall stay safe and healthy up there! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✌🏻🙋🏼
My face is hurting from laughing for the last 62 minutes! Shocked that LeMans didn't completely break into during the pasture drifting session! Crazy fun video brother!!! A+++++
Thanks Dr. Lee! She'll make a fine organ donor someday
I still say this is the best UA-cam channel. Thanks for the awesome show Mr, nothing better than hanging out with Pole Barn Garage for an hour or so after long week truckiN.
I love when I'm on night shift and there's a bunch of PBG content to watch. thank you Dalton and team =) helps keep me sane in the late hours.
52:22 Pure Gold Its a bead.. arts and crafts.. YEAH....😀
Definitely need to find something to put that motor an transmission in
i wouldn't have thought that being that crusty it will roll around, much less drive on its own, amazing stuff
Excellent as usual.... never cease to amaze me!
Great video, really look forward to what you put out here!
46:50 sometimes the brand new parts don't fit but they come with just enough right parts to fix the old parts, so it evens out over time
I'm glad to see you save what you can from that classic. Thank you.
How cool, you make some great videos, own really neat vintage cars, your inventive and funny your also a great Dad. Keep up the good work. Your hard work is going to pay off it just takes time.
