  • I am stoked to have stumbled over this single clip and I want your honest opinion down below! Same fish or different fish?! I'm going with same fish, and I think it's awesome where it showed up the second time.
Hope to see you guys Saturday at Anglers Choice in Spindale for their open house!

Absolutely the same fish and to add to your comment on a bass’s genetic code I couldn’t agree more. I fished a tournament on the lower Potomac River out of Smallwood State Park where I weighed in a bass that I caught in DC water. Anybody who fishes the Potomac which I know you do can relate to that distance. I caught that same fish 2 months later in the exact location. Very distinct black pigment marks on its side and tail. Mind blown. Very cool video…Thanks for sharing 👍

Definitely the same fish. I fished a small city park pond in lower Delaware all throughout high school and caught the same bass 5 different times across 3 years. When I fish caught her she was 22” and a little over 6 and J recently caught her this June and she’s grown an inch and almost a pound. This fish had a super telltale mark, a flat fork on her tail. Super cool that you caught that fish twice in a fishery of that size.

This is awesome. I believe that the majority of fish generally just stay in the area that they're released. However, I am fairly convinced you are correct that this is the same fish. I was really hoping she would still be big enough for you to get the official lake record status since I know you prioritized preserving the fish (thank you) over getting the lake record.

I honestly believe you've got Dorothy there ... Why? Cause "There's no place like home!" You already know -- you and Ace both!!! That release and only 4mi ... That "homing sense"... yep --- Dorothy lives! My, selling that luxury cruiser -- It's been good to ya! And thanks to @Angler's Choice and the pairing ... think it has truly served yalls both well, not leaving out King Neptune either!!! Changes & Growth ......... and it's been so good for all of us. Enjoy the Open-House, hope even more success with that. Have fun on the trip and most of all, Enjoy and Make Memories!!!! Be Safe

I do believe you are correct on both. Same fish, and why wouldn’t it swim home. Wouldn’t imagine 4 miles is that big of a deal in the grand scheme of a northern strain. Especially at a fish that sizes assumed age

Fish seem to pick certain trees, stumps, etc. that they call home. If you watch some of the old bassmaster shows they would catch and tag fish then monitor them during a 3 or 4 week period. Often times the bigger ones would stay on one tree or alternate between 2 spots. Pretty cool stuff.

To catch it twice, both times during a tourney, is insane! Maybe, though, you’ve done it many times before, you just wouldn’t know because they weren’t monsters. If you caught the same 2 pounder you probably wouldn’t even consider to check. Great repeat catch and great vid. Can’t wait to see your next boat.

My first 50in musky came from nw wi and I was the 3rd person to catch her. She was caught June 3 years in a row the first two times were in the same area on the north end of the lake, I got her last and she was a couple miles distance away in the southern end of the main lake. She has a giant birth mark brown spot on her left side super identifiable. That's the same bass btw, it's pretty damn clear that slice in the fin is a one in a million thing

My son and I have gone fishing at a local lake during the month of May over the past 3 years. Each year we have caught the same female along a set of stumps on the same bait - she is a sucker for a Yamamoto Shad Shaped Worm……. My son has caught her 3 times and I have caught her once. We have pictures that show her distinct worn out tail with a section missing. Over the years she has maybe gotten 2 pounds heavier.

This just goes to show that bass in general, during the prespawn/spawn, like to return to the same areas.
I’ve caught the same fish many times, and when I release them, straight back to the bed they go!
Of course, I’m not fishing any big lakes, but I’m sure those fish know where to go…😂😂😂❤❤❤

They definitely look like the same fish. In 2020 and 2021 I’m pretty sure my girlfriend and I caught the same fish in lake Barcroft. I caught it under a dock in April 2020 and it weighed 5.5 pounds and then my girlfriend caught it the next year in July and it weighed 4.9. It had only moved about 100 feet to the neighbors dock from where I caught and it happened to eat the same bait. We’re pretty sure it’s the same fish since it has a black spot in the same place and the same damage to its fins. It’s fascinating to see how far that fish traveled to be in the same spot

They could be different fish but if the fish got a bit longer that could explain why markings aren’t exact the tail fin however looks slightly different that shouldn’t have changed at all the 9.85 fish from 22 would probably have been exactly 10LBS in June cause older bigger would’ve grown somewhere between 1/4-maybe 3/4in at max younger fish usually grow 1/2 to 1in a year sometimes 1.5in from what hatchery workers have told me completely depends on it’s diet but 10LBS fish and late June to keep is after spawn so 10% is 1Lbs and 15% is 1.5Lbs so if same fish after spawn anywhere from 8.5-9Lbs is in correct range it could be sibling too seeing as markings are so similar and would be at around the same size but awesome fish

Matt I caught my personal best 2 years ago in one area of Lake Frank in Rockville and the following year I came back and made a cast with a walking bait and I'm 99.9% sure I caught the same fish. The first year she weighed 6.7 the next year she was 7.13. both cast we're within 15 ft of each other. Just goes to show you that the term residential fish might hold some truth. I think Hooper use a term called territoriality in the movie Jaws.😆 Either way congratulations maybe you can give me a few tips for the chickahominy again. 🤘 Tight lines and love the content.

I agree 100% thats gotta be the same bass like you said those lateral markings look identical along with the anal fin, its tail, the markins on its mouth etc. Yes the fish has changed its color due to the season and water temp and has lost some of its girth but thats completely normal but the fact it looks so identical due to those markings and you caught it in the same exact spot tells me its gotta be the same fish some people think fish are dumb but a fish will remember its home no doubt ive seen the same fish come back to the same spot on anna for months it stayed at this one boat dock we could never get her to bite but we immediately knew it was her just by her actions.
