I want to thank you for being one of the first Bionicle UA-camrs to go in-depth on the canonized builds, I’ve been waiting for somebody to do so in such a long while, and was especially hoping that TTV would’ve done so...
Thanks for stopping by! And yeah, I also was hoping someone like TTV would do it, but after they mentioned they’re done with reviews I just said (insert Thanos meme) fine, I’ll do it myself 😂
I agree, it’s a really unique build and I love the old flat dark gold color - it was definitely super limited back then to pretty much Takanuva and Iruini, so certainly a fixed color scheme
The Dark Hunters are some of my favorite characters in the franchise with their completely unique builds, Bionicle still had some really good MOCists during that era.
Same here! Honestly I’m really impressed with the quality of some of their builds given that most of the fan base was purely made up of kids with limited budgets and parts to use around that time
Thank you for the thorough review, I've always been fascinated about this one more than most dark hunters from the book, and I really do like how the armor and colors work together to suit his name and character. I'm sure there's some easy ways to make the feet more posable
This looks amazing, i really love the fan iterations of them, and they really look very good, and very dark huntery xD also, loved how you explained a little of their bio i really just knew about the shadowed one nhidiki and kreka
Thanks for commenting and I’m glad you appreciated it! There are so many dark hunters and I’m definitely going to be working my way through all of them!
This moc is definitely greater than the sum of its parts, it's one of my favorite dark hunters from that book period if not my absolute favorite. For 2004 I'm very impressed with how concise and easy to look at it is. No bombardment of detail, a very strong silhouette, the intent gets across very well. It holds up so well I'd believe you if you told me it was either an official set or a more modern moc
Did you use the recently updated vahki 6 instructions? IX rollout IX was the one who spent such a long time reverse engineering it, and I helped vahki 6 adapt his instructions
Yes, I saw those super recent ones, they were really helpful! Looking back on it I think for some reason I left off the Technic bushing for the thumb (likely was building too fast and forgot to include it) as well as used the Visorak leg parts instead of the Metru lower legs for the arms, but it didn’t affect aesthetics too much imo
@@augusthasani6588 yeah I think widgets was at least the main currency on Mata Nui, but I could definitely see money being used for upgraded armor, weaponry, heck, even land or homes/bases and whatnot
Do you have a version of Nidhiki from times when he was a metru-nui toa? The mocs of toa Nidhiki I seen usually use silver armor peices, since his cannon mask comes in silver as well, but the fact that lego never released metru shoulder armor in flat silver is depressing and means you have to use something else, like nuva shoulders... But there's something interesting I just found, there was a chinese bionicle knockoff called Masker and a couple sets from it have those metru shoulders in flat silver, which would've been perfect for toa Nidhiki. ua-cam.com/video/zy8y_xDf81s/v-deo.html Dunno if you'd want to look for parts that aren't officially lego's, but it came as a big surprise to me that those exist. I also owned a few knockoffs from different chinese company and they kinda have a somewhat similar piece to metro shoulders, but the axle on it is incompatible to lego.

I assume Eljay didn't do them cause they're not official sets/combo models.
This is an amazing titan build. Old gold, especially back then (I would think) would be hard to use

Ancient is one of the best Dark hunters mocs and probably the coolest character after TSO. Planning to build it in the future
Have fun building him! It was a really fun build
I love him, TSO and Darkness visually.
One of the coolest models

Agreed! I definitely want to fiddle with the feet a little more to improve it

@@DuckBricks looking forward to it!

Agreed! The color scheme and stance of the model worked out fantastically
I love the colorschem of this guy, I wish more toa had these colors
Easily the most impressive dark hunter visually

@@DuckBricks pretty sure the metru legs as arms are correct.
Yeah, I’m saying I accidentally used the Visorak leg pieces if you look really closely in the video and am realizing that now
@@DuckBricks aha, i missed that
first time I have seen this model in real life, he's much smaller than I thought for some reason.
Agreed, but he’s still one of the better ones IMO!
Did you change the Shadowed One's chest armor from silver peices to blue?
Yup, it’s just a placeholder until the silver ones arrive in a Bricklink order haha - nice catch!
I’d say this is the best Dark hunter
It’s pretty high up there for me too; this and Lurker are quite good
When you review Helryx, will you have her with a Pakari, or a 3d printed mask of psychometry?
I will review both!
Chris , i dont understand one thing , the shadowed one has 3 legs or 2 legs and a tail ?
I believe it was meant to be a tail, although admittedly the way it is built is quite confusing
I wonder what money actually worth in the matoran universe, is there anything they can be spent on?
Widgets? I imagine they still need natural resources to survive like food, shelter, heat, luxuries etc
@@augusthasani6588 yeah I think widgets was at least the main currency on Mata Nui, but I could definitely see money being used for upgraded armor, weaponry, heck, even land or homes/bases and whatnot
Greebling is good imho.
Dang Ancient ain’t gonna be in rush hour 3

I am waiting for the official Nidhiki canon contest to run/conclude so I can build the winner of that contest, but thanks for the tips!
Thats a realy dope wh40k marine
