Always a highlight of the Dark Hunter pantheon. I imagine him moving about like a big, deadly peacock. Perhaps Minion next? I think Darkness has a better build, but Minions sheer scale intrigues me.
Haha I can totally see the peacock thing, that’s exactly what those look like, especially with the Kanoka disks on them! Minion and Darkness are both super interesting and while I do have some Rahi coming up first, I’ll definitely look into having them ready for the next dark Hunter review
Love it! With your huge collection, it might be a unique opportunity to show some of these rarely-built canon mocs alongside story related sets-such as, in this case, showing how Eliminator looks alongside Nidhiki and Krekka, or how Darkness looks hanging around behind the Shadowed One. Keep up the great work!
Hey, nice review, man! I liked how you factored in the time period the MOC was built in with your review score. I was impressed with how well the model kept itself up, especially after Artahka and Melding Teridax. Definitely agree with how alien he looks, I think it’s a cool look for a character to have. I’m not entirely sure how that big dude stayed completely hidden on Metru Nui, though. Only thing I would’ve liked to have seen in this review would’ve been a few comparison shots between Eliminator with Nidhiki and Krekka; his fellow Dark Hunters on Metru Nui. Since you’ve been asking for suggestions for future reviews, I’ve always been interested in the Doom Viper, it’s got such a weird look to it. I’m not sure if you’re doing combiners, but if you are the Zivon would also be interesting to look at. It was one of the only combiners Eljay didn’t get to review in depth on his combiner review show because all of his joints were weak; I’d be interested in seeing if you have this problem with the Zivon too.
Thanks for commenting and darn! That would have been nice, can’t believe I didn’t think of that - I’ll def compare them in the dark Hunter overview video, whenever I get to that And yes! I do have the Doom Viper built but sadly, as Legodetective said, the online instructions are relatively inaccurate as it’s really hard to reverse engineer that one. I’ll still be doing a review though, albeit with a disclaimer. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh - and re: the Zivon, that’s a great point although I can’t say the joints I used were much better; that thing does not support its own weight well haha - maybe I can review it with friction joints sometime
Is this one based off Haebels' instructions? As Vahki6 said on there, the rahkshi staff on the back may not be accurate. Great video as always, a good look at a less well known model and character, and I have to say I actually prefer the black on the arms instead of purple. With the odd waviness down the arm and the three fingers it feels like the creator was absolutely echoing the shape of the Slizer arms. Lastly, I think the colour of your clothing might have to be considered when you're filming your final thoughts. It was hard to see against the dark hoodie.
That’s a good point about the Rahkshi staff and yes, it was - that makes a lot of sense, thanks for checking it out! And thanks for the tip on the clothing - I can totally see how the black blended in and will pay attention to it in the future
i really like this build and strange parts used like those throwbot arms. this may just be me, but i see his body build as feminine which i think i cool to see that variation of bionicle body types! i’m kind of a normie when it comes to bionicle lore, so i’m pleasantly surprised to see someone reviewing these characters i would never have known otherwise!
To be honest, I always thought he has a cool and intimidating look, and it may also be because of all of his shadow looking arms reminds me of Makuta in MNOG.
I headcanon that Ron Pearlman would voice Eliminator. Imagine Slade's voice from teen titans or Justice from Afro Samurai's voice coming out of a big bulky imposing person like Eliminator.
@@DuckBricks what's funny is that if you used the digital instructions on deviantart, that section of the moc was based on mine. I added that there since I thought that if I didn't, people would say "where are the silver things behind his head" when I posted it. My guess is that they are editing errors, eliminator's image has many other editing errors. There are a few other parts of your build which are wrong, like some axle lengths, the shoulder build, and some socket variations. In the grand scheme of things though, most people won't tell the difference.
Haha it was you! Well that makes a lot of sense, and zooming in on the pic, there are a ton of errors and I do feel like that wasn’t supposed to be there. I am curious as to how the shoulders should be correctly assembled, and yeah, I used the CCBS sockets to make it a little more stable overall lol. Thanks for checking it out as usual!
@@DuckBricks no prob, I sadly don’t have enough time to review the contest models so I’m glad you are doing so! At some point I plan to reverse engineer the kanohi dragon... I have the parts... hopefully winter break will help me out...
Alright theory time, the Throwbot arms on Eliminator's back have a wavy and rope like detail in the middle. What if all the back arms *and* his primary arms function as sort of grabble hooks, and that awkward bit sticking out by his elbow is just the curled up grapple rope/retracted pistons.
Re: minifig utensils in Bionicle, Lehvak Va uses two minifig katana. They're not as fingers, but it's the only other Canon instance I know of them being used at all.
Haha ty but I can’t take any credit; none of these MOCs are mine, I’m just reviewing the official canonized models so any poseability issues are inherent to the original MOC itself
The guy who made the instructions used mine and another's recreations as reference and mine used the Guurahk staff behind him. Tbh the way the official pic looks its very hard to tell if there really was a piece behind his head or not. As for the gray Mata head, my recreation has it still (not his chest plate though) but cant really guarentee mine is accurate since I'm not an expert.
Gotcha - yeah it’s super hard to tell if that part’s supposed to be there or not, tbh I’m probably just gonna leave it off because of how out of place it looks
Hey Duck, there’s something that I forgot to show you that has been recently discovered! Bionicle: Mask of Light is known as a Miramax film, however something was just recently discovered which is that there exists a Disney DVD branded release, but only for it’s only known Special Edition release in Russia! It’s very possible that there may be even more obscure Disney-branded releases... Whoah, that’s crazy! It must have had something to do with distribution rights in certain countries, but that’s crazy! Thanks for sharing! (Wait, so are Gali and Nokama Disney princesses now?)
I wanted to build this guy because I have lots of slizer arm pieces^^ but what kept me from doing it was 1. purple pakari are hard to get and 2. I always thought the legs looked kinda unstable
I've tried to recreate this one for years and I still heavily doubt the horns are made out of a guurahk staff. I never found the answer. What a shame we never had better pics and more angle view of this DH like some others had. Even figuring how the body is built was a pain, so congrats to he one who managed to make one. However, with the great respect I have for Haebels who made the instructions, there are a lot of mistakes in the build, especially around the hips were an unidentified purple piece is supposed to be found if you check closely the original pic. Eliminator is my worst nightmare.
Luckily, your guy (me) at The Bionicle Archives over on facebook knows the secret! I have him built fully 100% complete, for sure! (Once I get my parts in the mail!) I actually have multiple photos of the original model, and have fully re-created him based off of knowledge given to me specifically by the guy who built and submitted it. If you want to know the secret, I'll be sharing him as soon as I get the pieces in the mail.
@@bioniclearchives heyo, if you have pictures for other models besides this one, I’d GREATLY appreciate it if you could share them publicly. Additionally, if you have any form of contact with the original creator I would love to talk with him! Is there a place where he is still somewhat active?
I believe CCBS would fit sort of into the world of Bionicle G1 if Greg made a "Legacy Contest" for the Sets, Combiners and Canon Mocs from 2001 to 2005. Something in which they are all slightly improved by adding poseability, playability and anything else but taking in count the modern system. Ninjago had Legacy Sets so why not a Legacy "Contest" for older figures? Also 2009 could be having the "Accuracy" Contest, which is a year where we are in another world with characters who are vastly more organic with advanced prosthetics than entirely biomechanical like everyone inside the GSR. 2010's Lego Ben 10 action figures are in my opinion a wink at fans who wanted more organic looking figures during 2009's story, specially with everyone being annoyed at the fact they all got the standard Inika build again for the 3rd year in a row (even the vibrant colors, vehicles and else don't do justice)
That’s a great idea and I for one would love to see something like that, maybe not for canon depictions but at least as reimaginings of the characters, kinda like the G2 sets which I still think are some of the best canister size sets we ever got for Bionicle
Nice review. I really dislike the look of the model but someone revamp him here: instagram.com/p/CBLtGwiJoRg/?igshid=19r4q8nfohxq5 and I think he looks way better than before and captures the look of the Toa Mangai’s killer much better. Also I would like to see reviews of Krakua, Certavus, the Piraka Fusion, or some of the rahi.
Oh wow that revamp is so cool, I’m tempted to build it myself, thanks for sharing! Those review suggestions are great and I have some Rahi coming up next!
There's a lot of cool aspects of the character, but the two chest pieces being a different color from the abdomen piece really causes the chest pieces to feel like a bra, especially given the vibrant coloring of the chest pieces. It's very distracting and feels very out of place. I think it was really essential to have the chest pieces be the same color as the abdomen piece, even if that meant not being able to use the vibrant color for the chest pieces.
Eliminator, I call him Purple Guy. The man Behind the slaughter.
And one of the very few purple-themed characters!
Lol, that's the perfect name for him

The best part about Eliminator in my opinion is its silhouette. The slizer arms do a lot to aid that imposing posture.
I feel like some of the cons you mentioned here were due to incorrect instructions. Other than that, good review.
