Springer Precision shows how to install aftermarket magazine releases on the XD and XDM. Visit www.springerprecision.com for all your XD and XDM needs.
you were right about pulling the spring all the way out, about an hour later and using toothpick pieces as slave pins, i finally got it!!!! time for a beer
When the magazine is full, it puts a lot of downward pressure on the mag latch, so tap the bottom of the full magazine while pressing the lever and it will pop right out.
Just installed my Powder River Precision mag release. Thank you for your video. Made the install easy, although I was still nervous that I might tap pin too far. Thanks again! What would we do without You Tube....
Yep...pulling the pin all the way out is a really stupid idea. What a pain in the rear that was to get back in. Why, oh why don't I ever watch these videos BEFORE I go pull stuff apart?
I will just send my gun in and get everything done by one of the gunsmiths. I only want to send it in once so do you think it will take more than six weeks for a full custom trigger set install, barrel, compensator, guide rod, guide spring, grip tape, and having the slide coated?
Yes, we do not suggest removing the mag release spring. If you do, you can call our shop at 541-480-5546 and one of the gunsmiths can tell you how to re-install it.
I have an XD .40. it has the 4" barrel. My mag release is very difficult to press and release the magazine. Right now this gun is not ideal for everyday carry. I'm really wishing I hadn't sold my G22 for this gun. Is there a fix for this?
You can polish the top of the lever that catches the magazine and the top of the notch in the magazine. If you are having an issue with removing fully loaded magazines, just tap the bottom of the magazine as you depress the magazine release and it will make it 100% easier to remove.

Thank you for the video, I got my Springer extended mag release today. After watching the vid it literally took me 2 minutes to install it, easy.

It's hard no matter what. It's been like this since I bought it new 2 years ago. I'm yet to even put 20rds through it because of it.
Then the polishing should really help.
Ok, sweet!
Thanks!
