I had a huge problem getting the grip safety back in. Nothing i found online showed or told me how to do it. This video went over it all! Thank you for the great video!
Took apart my slide and lower receiver for the first time on an XD-S mod2(.40) for a deep clean after the gun inadvertently slept in a puddle of water that formed inside of a tent during a camping trip. Found a few videos showing how to disassemble the slide and had no problem putting it back together. The lower receiver though... was not prepared for everything to fall apart when I pulled out the FCU, mainly the grip safety spring & pin and how to put the FCU back together. Thank you for this video, only decent one on YT that I could find clearly detailing re-assembly of FCU components for the XD-S series.
Kit also works on the Mod2. Two minor notes... striker back plate- holds the striker and the extractor spring plate, be careful when removing. Pain in the butt when reinstalling seems to have a lot of tension from both springs. Second, grip safety spring(factory spring) kept slipping out of its grove on the sear when putting it all in the frame. Trigger pull is much lighter, comparable to the mod1 setup. Very happy with the kit. Thanks Galloway👍🇺🇸
Followed your video after getting the kit. HUGE improvement.... actually made my xds 45 fun to shoot and able to tighten up quick shots at 25yrds to around 2-3 inches. Recommend!
Thank you very much. I bought the proper hammer and punches for this, and your instructions were great. I use to work on typewriters, calculators, copiers, fax machines, etc, so that might have helped. Installation was a breeze! Thanks again!
I just bought this kits last week and installed Friday. This grip safety didn’t work so I had to take apart and try again. The safety spring in the seat was not in place. Remedied that and all is good. Very nice trigger operation now! Thanks!
I don't own an xds yet, but when I get one I'll do this spring job on it. Great instructional video with tons of close up details. I see why glocks are so loved because a lot of pistols have so many parts to them and glocks are stupid simple to swap things out on.
Well I didn't mod anything, just needed to know how to take this pistol down to parade rest and put it back together for a solid cleaning. That was a great video man. Thank you very much!
thanks for this video... i couldn't figure out the grip safety spring and lever placement... looking at it afterwards was like duh... in the slot and lever under. great vid!
My kit also came with a disconnector, trigger safety spring and a striker safety spring. You did not mention those. I have the new XDs mod 2 9mm, perhaps new components have been added by Power River Precision. Thank you for this great and informative video.
You don't change the safety springs to actually change the weight of the pull. NEVER change a safety spring, that's a good way render a safety inoperable.
@@GallowayPrecision Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to reply, I appreciate it greatly. One note, the Disconnector by Power River Precision made the trigger feel worse compared to the one that came with the pistol. Thank you again! [EDIT: What I meant by the trigger felt worse is there is a "stop" feeling upon initial trigger pull and as the trigger is pulled rearward it feels very slightly "gritty". However, the trigger is lighter with the PRP disconnector and the trigger break is crisp.]
The XDS isn't exactly my favorite pistol to switch out parts on. Through experimentation (meaning, failure and swearing and some crying) I found that the HK needle-nose pliers for their trigger return spring installation helped with the XD. Looping the sear spring to the grip safety pin and then hooking on the sear is pretty difficult. So I hooked the spring to the sear, then grasped the spring in the needle-nose pliers and lifted it into the housing unit with the grip safety pin about halfway through. Loops on easy and you maintain tight control.
Thank - you great instructional video. QUESTION ? what is the fix for light strikes in my 40sw xds ? Striker ( firingpin) barely protrudes from breachface , my opinion , they striker too short. whats you idea. thank you , for answer.

Well done, very helpful. I just sold my first version XDs 45 and purchased a Mod-2 45 (XDs)...can you provide any changes to the procedure for a Mod-2 gun? I know just from observation that the extractor and slide end plates are different (no roll pin for the extractor -- the Mod-2 looks more like a Glock setup). I just need to know if the spring installation for the frame components is the same. Many thanks...IMHO you provide the best instructional videos on UA-cam.

The XDS I have doesn’t have one of the legs on the grip safety. To doesn’t appear that it’s broken off. It’s just not there. Trying to get spring tension on it is the most difficult part of reassembling this gun.

I had a gunsmith do the spring kit and have had nothing but issues since. It exhibits hang fires on a regular enough basis that I do not trust it as a carry.
Then it was either installed incorrectly or you need to use a higher quality ammunition. If you're using low grade bulk ammunition to test a defensive pistol that you just put a reduced power spring kit in, you're going to yield low grade results. We use PMC Bronze, Speer Lawman, HPR, DRT, and Liberty Civil Defense for in house testing.

Does the kit come with a extractor spring I was disassembling mines for cleaning and the spring popped out and I have been looking for it for hours might as well get the upgrades if it comes with a extractor spring I can't find one for sale anywhere and the ones I can find are all sold out
I have XDS 45 with 3.3 barrel and after installing your spring kit and going to the range my pistol would not fire. After 2 light strike no fire I put the stock striker spring back in and had no more problems firing and the trigger still felt it was upgraded as I had not changed anything but to reinstall the stock striker spring. With that said I STILL RECOMMEND THIS SPRING KIT, just do NOT install the striker spring in the kit for 45ACP.
Misfires with hard primer bulk ammo is going to happen in stock form and more so with reduced power striker springs. We have information on our faq page on hard primer bulk ammo to avoid due to the hard primer used in some brands of low grade bulk ammo, regardless function checks on a defensive weapon would be done with off the shelf defensive ammo as it would use in application, which this time of ammo is much higher grade including soft primers, fresh cases, cleaner powder etc. Higher quality bulk practice ammo will also benefit from those features.
