- Hats off to 103 year old Irma, still going for a daily walk and still making pasta. She is a joy to meet and inspiration for everyone. Her recipe is very simple:
1 free range egg for every 100g of flour (freshly ground), 2 slices of prosciutto, one red onion, 200ml passata, a handful of freshly grated 24 month aged Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
And a small glass of locally made sparkling wine called pignoletto.
Enjoy. - Фільми й анімація
I was a registered nurse and worked primarily in aged care. Irma is 100% spot on. You have to keep moving. Not only the secret to better health in old age, but also to living long enough to enter old age. Walking is, by far, the best form of easily accessed exercise for this (swimming is possibly better because it uses more muscle groups, but not everyone has access to swimming). Good on you, Irma. You're an inspiration!
So right. I, too, am a retired RN and worked in aged care. The body is meant to move, and as you get older, you need to move more. Plus some interests and a garden. Loving family also helps. Go Irma! Gorgeous house BTW.
Hello David and Erica, thank you for your work - and I so agree with you. The women we film always have family and half the village/neighbourhood involved in their lives and exercise is built into their routine: walking to the shops, up the stairs (usually 3 flights). There are no conveniences and that includes food. best wishes, Vicky
I better get moving!
I disagree..I say dancing! I hope this charming lady lives more productive years!❤
Use it or loose it 👏🏻🇮🇹
Irma is a treasure. To think that she is so engaged and active at 103 years of age. It is mind boggling. She is walking history and the pasta looks divine. May she and her family continue to be blessed. Thank you for another joyous episode!
hi Scott, we loved spending the morning with Irma and Oreste, and hope she will want to be filmed again. 🙂🌺 best wishes, Vicky
❤
She is the youngest looking 103 year old woman I have ever seen. What a pleasure to watch her in this video. I would love to hear some of the many, many stories that she could tell about her adventures in life. God bless her.
There is a video, here on UA-cam, made Julia Warr, called “My friend Maya”, although Maya was in her 90s not her 100s when the video was made, it has a similar tone of the beauty of life, I think you would enjoy it as I did.
She looks amazing and moves as if decades younger.
And no shaking hands using the knife! An inspiration!
Use it or lose it!
I’m waiting for another episode next year on this lovely lady, when she’s 104 years old!
I LOVE that she let's the pasta dry a bit before cutting. Most people add a ton of flour and cut right away. This causes a slimy, gummy exterior that's unappetizing. I'm impressed with everything that is Irma.
That is an excellent observation, I will remember that next time I make fresh pasta 🍝😊
@@anaalves3658
As it’s an ‘observation’ that has not come from Italy, I would treat it it extreme caution.
93 years of experience
@@elaineblackhurst1509Oh no. Treat it with extreme caution or the pasta might explode in your face. Or be a normal person and just try a different technique and see if you like the results.
@@bellenesatan
‘ Most people…This causes a slimy, gummy exterior that’s unappetising’.
I’ve eaten good pasta in Italy every year for over 50 years and never had the horror you’re describing; where are these ‘Most people’ you’re referring to because none exist in Italy ?
Incidentally, to set yourself up as someone who’s in a position to state loftily that they are ‘…impressed with everything that is Irma’ - in other words an experienced Italian cuoca - comes over as patronising and arrogant.
Her proud smile when she shows her big "sfoglia"❤! Irma is a living legend. I felt very overwhelmed while watching this video, started crying from the pure emotions and wiped out my tears, because nobody at home would understand why i was crying while watching a video about tagliatelle. But it is actually much more than that. It is a hymn of life.
So true! I felt the same way and cried as well.
I believe you’ll enjoy a tiny video called “My friend Maya” by Julia Warr here on UA-cam. ❤ Maya was a dancer and very bright and light in her 90s. ❤
I am truly flabbergasted by this woman! She is absolutely beautiful, with a radiant smile. How lucky the world is to have had her for 103 years. Thank you so much for continuing to find these precious women!
1:40 I love the sign. “Flour for you… Bread for them”
103?!?! where's the birth certificate - Irma looks like she's just in her mid 80s! wow!! Pasta looked so delish!
She's more than a century old and she still has a wonderful smile.
Her brain wasnt fried by modern feminism.
That happy proud look in her eyes in the end when everyone enjoys the meal is priceless, she has been making people happy with her her cooking longer than many empires have lasted, true treasure of a woman
103? OMG. I miss my grandma. Good health to this beautiful lady.
So this dear lady has been making pasta for 93 years! Incredible ❤
My great grannie was nearly 102 when we lost her, she lived on her own until she was until she fell right before her 100th birthday and broke a hip. She stayed busy for 100 years, that's the trick to living so long.
"I'm 103 and I'm still making tagliatelle": the dream.
The look of love on Irma’s face when she look through the photo album is so beautiful
What strikes me is Irma’s contented disposition and the pleasure she appears to take in simple things like feeding her chickens. It must be part of her recipe for longevity. Auguri e complimenti, Signora Irma!
103 years and still such happiness and life in her! my own grandmother could learn a thing or two from her!
My grandma is 93 in three weeks and constantly complains about her health. I think she needs to hear a thing for 2 from Irma too.
I hope you're being sarcastic
I´ve just wanted to write something similar... It´s interesting how some people choose to be happy about almost every single small thing (look at Irma´s face while she feeds her chickens) and some people are unhappy about everything (my grandmother for example).
Happiness comes from looking on the bright side of life and not the negatives:)
Wow, her eyes are so smiling and young.
I can’t even imagine how amazing that pasta must taste with fresh eggs and flour! Probably nothing like what we get in a box in the store. I love watching these grannies, thank you for these videos!
you can try it yourself anytime, it s not so complicated!
Freshly made pasta can beat anything you buy at the store. Try to make it someday, even if your first try is not perfect, it will still be delicious!
@@nalublackwater9729 not true. I’ve made pasta at home many times…if my eggs aren’t fresh, or if you use old, all purpose flour, the pasta is just meh.
@@inshallamiami Eh... using fresh/adequate ingredients is a given with every single recipe. You can't expect to have a good result if you use expired or low quality stuff, smh.
Who has a flour-mill truck passing by? @@nalublackwater9729
How is this woman 103 and more active than most people decades younger?! Mindblowing to me, I guess that freshly milled flour keeps you going!
Irma is radiant!!! Beautiful skin, sparkling eyes, loving smile….BEAUTIFUL 🎉
wow irma im so impressed, this energy with 103 years!!
Incredible!! thank you for this video. free range chickens laying eggs everywhere ... traveling trucks that grind flour for you ... a 103 grandmother still walking around, looking great and carrying a huge tray of pasta? Love this!!! Plus pasta looks truly delish.
Sounds idyllic to me.
Not only are the Tagliatelle delicious, but Irma is also a beautiful Nonna ! ❤️
Signora Vicky, lei dovrebbe essere nominata tra le persone meritevoli della Repubblica Italiana. Spartaco Giacometti, Monfalcone.
What an enchanting beautiful woman. And her home, her son are lovely too.
She's wonderful! Active, positive, exercises, has a little wine, makes fantastic food to feed the family. Who could ask for more?! Thanks for your wonderful video!
The same rollin pin for 90yrs,. A nationl treasure,.
"if she doesn't use them [her legs], they stop working" As someone with chronic health problems, even at 30yo, this is incredibly true. Keep moving, Nonna!
She has an Easter egg hunt every day! That area of Italy is beautiful!
Loved this! She has so much vitality - love seeing older people with such vitality and youthful spirit. What an inspiration and great cook! 103 and still making tagliatelle! I could be so lucky! Well done Irma!
She's so beautiful, and so are her son and grandson. I also love her house with it's vibrant color and all the artwork on the walls. Who's the artist? Most of all I love the kindness and sweetness in her eyes and the Emilian accent which so reminds me of my father's family, also from the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano, but in the valleys south of Parma, not Modena. Some of the best, if not the best, food in Italy in Modena, imo.
Big hugs to you from the west coast of Canada Irma! 🌸🫂🌸
Irma reminds me of my own grandmother. Always trying to be active. And especially with home cooking meals as much as possible. She would typically go out for a morning walk to check on the neighbors, make conversation, and soon a half a dozen elderly ladies and gentlemen would be laughing up a storm as they slowly walked around the neighborhood.
That's a great memory, thank you for sharing it. best wishes, Vicky
She is so strong and beautiful! And the pasta looks delicious!
Amazing lady! I hope she lives another 10 years in great health, taking walks and making delicious pasta! Bravissima !
Irma’s finished sfoglia looked so light and delicate I could feel my mouth watering just looking at it!!! She is so beautiful and her smile could light up a room!! I hope she is with us next year so we an see her smile again! 🤗♥️🍝
I know no Italian but a little bit of French. I believe Irma says "Allez allez" or something. So good to hear an elderly says something like that to the younger ones. Such an active grandma.
I am italian and to me Irma just said "Alè alè" which is a way to express joy or excitement, people often say that in football stadiums during choruses but it doesn't have any meaning in italian, you made me realize it probably is just "allez allez" italianized 😅
Only at start and loving her and her house. Maybe spirit is what makes her’s and other pasta granny’s food special. 😘 We haven’t done well by our elders in Canada and other countries.
i need a trip to italy for a week and just stay with a pasta grannie to teach me the ways for a week... this is just beautiful.
I really love this old, handmade recipes. Only natural ingredients, food made with patience and love. And it tastes so much better than everything you can buy in a supermarket. I started making pasta from scratch some time ago and I love it. Irma is fantastic.
brava👏🏻
Che dolcezza la signora Irma! E che bravura, le sue tagliatelle hanno un aspetto davvero fantastico! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤❤
It reminds of my nonna when she used to make ravioli and tagliatelle on a sunday morning when we all used to go there for lunch.. amazing memories ❤ now that i don't live in Italy anymore i really miss those days..
I f you try making pasta with a matarelo you will come to realize how elastic the dough is and how physical it is to keep stretching the dough until it is thin enough to make into tagliatelle. Most people a quarter of Irma's age would find this very hard work. It is an amazing craft, and one that always looks effortless by these amazing women. The story of real cooking is done by woman like this. Unfortunately it is the male chefs of the world who get all the attention for their "prowess". Most male chefs wouldn't know where to begin to roll out pasta like these amazing woman do. Thank you for archiving this amazing knowledge and reminding us the importance of woman in our lives. My grandmother was a professional cook and as her grandson I learned the real meaning of making food. I am a liberated human because of her,
in that I can cook for myself and others in the most meaningful way.
I just love Irma! She's a total doll!😊 This is a great one Vick!😊❤
Her lovely smile says "I love live" ... amazing woman! ❤
Her smile ..wow..so beautiful..so good..her face shows her heart and soul
Wonderful episode. Health and happiness Irma!
She looks really strong for her age, especially her hands while kneading. Wish her all the best and the food looks delicious.
She is lucky not to have arthritis.
She seems to joyous and full of life. I love her constant smiling and the glint in her eye.
What a great woman, what a great pasta!
Irma has the most beautiful smile, what a gorgeous woman! Her pasta looked wonderful, and for her to still be making it is amazing! Her and her son both seem like lovely people. I also enjoyed seeing that fantastic mill! Such a cool episode. Thank you.
Incredible woman, and the sparkle of humor and mischief in her eyes! She looks beautiful and so youthful, I must follow her advice to walk everyday and stay active, it seems to be the true secret of youth!
stunned at how deft and youthful the movement of her hands is.
This channel is like a warm hug! It makes me miss my own departed grandparents, but grateful for what they taught me too.
Programma molto bello. Bello vedere tutte queste donne anziane. Mille grazie.
Louis/Luigi Dalla Svezia😀😀🇸🇪🇮🇹
I hope to live as long and happily as Irma! ☺️
I’m constantly reminded that it’s about the pasta not the sauce. Here you never see the noodles drenched in sauce masking the nuttiness of the wheat and the richness of the egg yolks….splendid Vicky as usual!
A lot of Italians don't like "oversauced" pasta and find it nauseating
That's very true Peter, let the pasta shine! Also it's a great way of making precious ingredients go further. 🙂🌺 best wishes, Vicky
Best regards from Hong Kong, wishing you a very long life Mama Irma!
What an inspiration for us younger senior citizens to keep moving. Prayers that Irma has plenty more productive years with more delicious recipes.
Love these women they remind me of my mother..... miss her every day... the true heroes of a generation.....
She has beautiful skin. God bless her. 😍
Amazing! Long years and greetings from the Crimea!
I am in tears watching this beautiful woman....may she be blessed with many more healthy years. A true inspiration!
Usually I ask for additional tasting notes from the recipe. This time I want to see the rest of her photo album! What a treasure!
Irma is amazing. The strength she has. This is one of the best Pasta Grannies ever. Irma’s a real pasta grannie. 103 a miracle.
Her smile is infectious! What a wonderful woman. The pasta looks absolutely incredible!
Irma is inspirational! One of the best parts of Friday is Pasta Grannies.
This is one of those cases where UA-cam could use a "Wow" response option. My grandma was the first in my family to reach 100. She died at 102. She had been unable to walk for some time. Irma is 103, and look at her!
She Deserves 103 Hearts! ❤
Que linda, que exemplo! Amei, que Deus a abençoe!
Many blessings to Irma and her family and community. I admire her style. Vicki, I'm in tears with this one and it may be my favourite. I made this kind of pasta for years when we lived on homestead in the 70's and 80's. Thank you to All.
Bravissima Irma, sei una forza della natura, ora però mi è venuta fame🤤
I don't believe this elderly lady is superhuman! Inspirational!
103 years old holy moly! and still sharp as a knife ! bless her.
She's right. The minute you stop doing stuff, stop walking, is the minute you're done and over with.
A big hug to Irma, she is such an inspiration... and the tagliatelle looked amazing!
Almost as amazing as her grandson!
She seems like an incredibly sweet lady.
She’s awesome….I wanna be like her when I grow up!😊👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have never seen such perfect tagliatelle in my life...though if it takes 93 years of practice to get that good, small wonder. I hope you can go back and see her next year.
La signora Irma è una regina! Dalla sua passeggiata fino ai suoi movimenti nel preparare le tagliatelle. Straordinario volto e sorriso! Bravissima
Still getting around how wonderful that is God bless her heart ❤️
All grandmas deserves a ❤ from me
Grew up around many Italians so reminds me of Home. Pasta so easy to make. Ppl don't realize. Enjoyed it very much. 🍒
GOD BLESS THAT GRANNIE! She comes from good stock. How she can walk a kilometer every day, lift that big board and make pasta from scratch is beyond me and puts me to shame at 77. It must be the lifestyle out in the hills of Italy. 103! AMAZING!
God Bless this Beautiful woman🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻 She had a hard life but still kept going & being stronger & stronger every day,a true inspiration to soooo many❤️🇮🇹🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 I can’t wait to make her pasta, it looks amazing!!!!! May God Bless You Always, you are an Amazing Strong Italian Woman❤️❤️❤️ & soooo Loving & Kind ✝️🇮🇹
6:27 this is incredibly precise and a steady hand for a 103 year old. I am 70 years younger and don't think I could do it so well 😀
Her skin 🤯 she’s gorgeous! The joy she derives from simple things 😍
Irma does not look 103, oh the stories she must have! I look forward to seeing you and that beautiful smile at 104💓🍷🍷
I love Irma… bless her, may she live many more happy and active years!
That's amazing. 103? She doesn't look like it. Her energy and her looks. Truly incredible.
cant hold back tears watching this precious video. Irma remind me my own nonna so much, she left us in 2013 but even two weeks before she went, she was going around, cleaning, sweeping and cooking until that damn illness took her away...long live to all the nonnas of the world!
Irma looks absolutely fabulous! She’s very lucid & so sweet! My Italian mother was 102 when she went to Heaven. She was also very clear minded & was active until the end. She loved to make & cook pasta & it was so delicious! Irma’s tagliatelle has my mouth watering & I truly appreciate her doing this video. She’s very special & lovable. God Bless Irma, her son & all of her family! Salute! 😘🙏🥰
I hope Irma is well and still cooking her tagliatelle, she looks like a lady who finds it easier to smile than frown. She’s extremely agile for her age and pasta boards aren’t the lightest thing to carry round full of homemade pasta.
Mattarello make the best pasta machines ever.
What a beautiful lady.
I love your channel. Not just for the cooking, but I miss my Italian mum, and these ladies remind me of how she used to be. Nostalgic food you could say
I would love to be there and help feed the lovely chicken. She is 😍 amazing, and her smile so beautiful! Her mind is clear and serene like the sky
