      Basically his worst quality is his temper is extreme and he’s a threat when extremely emotional. But his best quality is the fact that he has emotions because without them he’d just be a psychopath with no reason. So overall he’s still definitely a bad guy in every sense who doesn’t deserve sympathy but he’s not the worst

      They had a great professional relationship. While Michael was personal friends with Lester and I think Lester and Trevor were also friends (albeit it was less tight than with Michael because Trevor terrified him but they got along more than professionally I think, even if only for sharing the same friend group), Lester approached Franklin purely on work terms and they got on great with those terms. It helped that while Lester was introduced to Franklin by Michael, he approached him for further work by himself after the first recommendation.
      Though with that said, Lester having drinks with Franklin after the bureau raid I think shows that they could have become actual friends if they worked together long enough, even if through Michael (similar to Trevor) and maybe they did eventually become friends after everything was said and done. But during the game it's a professional relationship, but a good professional relationship.

      They clearly at least respect each other greatly. Franklin sticking up for lester while trevor is planning the merrywether raid, and then Lester buying franklin the mansion (even if just for tax purposes), and immediately agreeing to help with lamar down shows this.

      Plus, when T met F, F was still just a hot-shot with just one or two scores to his name. As in with a lot of cases (Families, friendship groups, drug gangs etc.), it is the responsibility of the old, the seasoned, and the experienced to be there for the young, the new guys, and the inexperienced. Trevor, being a man who took scores, knew this very well just as Michael did. The best way to cement that responsibility and carry it out is to build a bond, which he did.

      Me too. Deathwish is what I always choose when I play this because Trevor never wanted to kill Michael because when I first stated the game, I was 80% certain that he wouldn’t pull the trigger during the bury the hatchet mission. Also, Trevor loved Michael like a brother and they go way back. The reason why I didn’t kill Michael in the game is because he had to betray the people he knew due to protecting his family, and it was a selfish risk he had to take. As Michael once said, “when you walk, your legs they just give. One day, you just can’t run anymore.” We all know that it’s a metaphor, and I can tell that Michael felt so guilt of betraying everyone due to when his family left him in the middle of the story. He was having signs of ptsd of when brad died, and so much that he went through. I knew Devin was manipulating Franklin due to telling him that he betrayed everyone he knew and got him “involved” with the feds. One, Michael never wanted to get Franklin involved with there feds because they will use him as they used Michael. Two, Michael was being real and honest with Franklin from the very start due to treating Franklin like a son and getting him involved in jobs that made him a lot of money. Why I didn’t kill Trevor in the game was because due to his loyalty and how much he cares about Michael.

    A bit random, but I’ve actually just realised some similarities between Trevor and Niko: both troubled individuals who are cold-blooded killers, both joined the army (or at least tried to) but that didn’t go so well for them, so then turned to crime after. Maybe I’m thinking too much on this, but the parallels between the GTA 5 Prologue and Niko’s past kinda blew my mind: A crew was carrying out a mission, but they were both walked into an ambush because someone betrayed the group (Michael and Darko), some were killed (Brad and the other 12 soldiers) and some unintentionally escaped (Niko, Florian, and Trevor). About a decade later, the survivors go searching for the traitor, and have a major confrontation in the best story-related missions from each respective game (That Special Someone and Bury The Hatchet). I believe there's reason to Trevor mentioning Brad so much early in the game up until he finds out he's dead. Specifically at 32:51 Trevor makes the "I have nothing, nobody cares about me" comment. Given his rough childhood and later abandonment by his best friend Michael, it's fair to assume Trevor has severe abandonment issues. This causes Trevor to think that he wants Brad back out of prison because it's someone he shared good times with and is hopeful that Brad thought of him as a friend rather than an associate. Brad, similarly to Trevor, is a fan of violence, as noted by Trevor before the Paleto Score and shown in the getaway vehicle in Prologue. Michael "went soft" and saw the other side of things that Trevor couldn't, thus was the reason he eventually wanted to replace Michael with Brad. After Trevor finds out the truth later on in Bury the Hatchet, he has plenty of time to think and finally realizes late in the game that Michael was the better man, both mentally and emotionally, and probably saw some of Michael's logic for faking his death, such as the family aspect. The cloud that is a yearning for Brad's company and friendship fades around that time as well when Trevor comes to terms and sees through his own moral struggle to realize that Brad is just as bad, if arguably not worse than Michael. Brad has little to no morals, no care for others and is a loser who was doomed to die eventually due to his anger and dimwitted justification for his actions. It's actually a great final example of Trevor's growth and maturity as a character for making this decision in the end.

He even talks about it and you can confirm it. He is mentally unstable (after all that), but who knows what kind of person he could've been if he had help at the right moment from the right people. I dunno, i kinda feel in his nature that he's a better person than Michael ever could've been. Not sure about Franklin, he seems the most sane out of all, and through the game making the most correct moral decisions and points.

    • @Lazarultos
      @Lazarultos Рік тому +8

      Talking to a good friend about the GTA V protagonists, we both came to the conclusion that you can see "hints" of the good person Trevor could've been, if the childhood abuse, shattering of his Air Force dreams, lack of therapy, drug-addiction, and long-term career in criminal activity didn't mentally ruin him. He is a man of strong principles and values friendship above everything else, as seen in how he temporarily abandoned his "business" to learn the truth about Michael and his encouragement of Franklin to keep friends like Lamar around and to never trust "pros" who are just in it for the money. He hates racism and discrimination as seen in his insecurity for being Canadian and his interactions with the "Civil Border Patrol." He may hold more left-leaning or "Liberal" values since his idolized superhero is Impotent Rage. He "rescues" Mr. K (the torture victim) after torturing him under the orders of Steve Haines and shows that he thinks torture-interrogation is pointless and is purely for a power-trip by the torturer.
      Does any of this balance out his psychotic behavior and mass murder? Absolutely not. The world would be a better place without Trevor (the story mode Trevor prior to him "going Vinewood" as Ron puts it in GTA Online since he might have actually pulled himself together if this is true). However, you can see the strong principles he holds underneath the violence and madness, and if he wasn't so mentally scarred then those principles might have been able to manifest in healthier ways than how it is in the story mode.

    Short answer is he never really liked brad
    Long answer is that he was more upset that Michael lied about his death and made him believe Brad was alive the whole time. He also loved being apart of the gang because it felt like a family to him. So when he found out his best friend lied about his death and Brad being alive it's hard not to understand why he was so angry. Although he forgave Michael because he genuinely loves him like a brother and missed having him in his life. That also explains why he was so worried about where he would fit in Michael's life after the big heist.

    Ok not to be the guy making diagnosis on fictional characters, but near as I can tell;
    Michael & Franklin have socio/psychopathic tendencies, but since they clearly have emotions, just incredibly self-centred ones this puts them more around the area of dark empath, which is an umbrella term for people with antisocial personality disorders, but with too much empathy to be a sociopath or a psychopath.
    Trevor is schizophrenic and has severe childhood trauma, mostly triggered by betrayal, sexual assault, and substance abuses which appear to be a large part of his childhood experience, his diagnosis is the only one that is pretty much cut and dry across the whole franchise.
    Brad is a sociopath not a psychopath. Psychopaths are born & are able to hide themselves well because they learned to mask their lack of empathy early on, assuming it's a performance during childhood, but they can learn the morals of the world around them. Michael is from a trailer park, Trevor is from probably the worst households you could be born into, and Brad from what we know came from a nicer background, he never even committed crimes until he met Trevor who was the one who brought him into the crew, meaning his behaviour was not anything to do with his personal life or the way he grew up like Trevor & Michael's life paths.
    He was just an asshole, and he doesn't seem capable of hiding that fact around anyone even outside of crime. Since he can't mask, but also struggles with empathy, this would put him under the branch of sociopathy. Sociopaths are made, but a majority of the time have pre-existing hereditary tendencies that when exposed to trauma can have a reaction that causes damage to the empathy centre of the brain.
    Like for example I am a sociopath, I struggle to hide the fact that I am an asshole, uniquely I was born a sociopath, but that's because one of the traumas that caused damage to my empathy centre was brain damage from the birth itself, not a natural occurrence through my development as a foetus. I however, was raised to have morals like over half of the people with an antisocial disorder, it's just you can tell even with these morals that I can be an asshole and need other people's emotions explained better to me.
    Brad's might be because he engaged in crime due to pre-existing antisocial tendencies, and the shock damaged it further causing him to become a sociopath as a result of what he saw early in his career (he was rolling with Trevor first so he coulda seen some shit). Or he could've been an asshole at any point prior due to one or two events in his life causing trauma to his empathy centre. Either way he was a sociopathic asshole for most of their crew's career.

    Dont apologise for the 2hrs of video. It is a fine art to make a video for this. If anything, you are too modest. Others might see 2 hrs of video, but I see days and months of manpower hours of hard work and passion put in to get the segment footages, commentary, research and editing as well as a script to put all these together to make sense. Good job on this video

    I've always felt really bad for Trevor. He came from a bad place, a bad and abusive family. Probably born with a damaged brain. His mom was addicted to a lot of bad substances and you can't tell me she really cared about being healthy during pregnancy. He was literally born to have a bad and hurtful life, surrauded by traitors and ppl who only cared about himself. He is not mad, he is just ill and hurt.

      I feel like if the GTA games had novelisations like Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith, a lot more would be delved into Brad and having paragraphs dedicated to what a piece of shit he is or getting a more fleshed out background for Tommy Vercetti before becoming a member of the Forellis.

    This is honestly one of the best youtube videos I have ever seen. I really appreciate the insanely immense amount of work and time that went into making this video. All the hours of game play, the filming, the editing, the research, all of it, top shelf.
    Most importantly, I have a completely different view of the game and it's characters after watching this.
    I am a sucker for game lore, and I love this content. I look forward to watching more of your videos! You've got my subscription, based off of this video and your debra and floyd video, which was also really well made :)

    The past few days my opinion has changed on Trevor a little bit and maybe that is a good thing. Trevor is a smart dude, and he may be inane with some rough edges but under all those edges he is a very loyal and caring person who would die for the ones he is loyal to, and he values loyalty. Trevor is a good character with a lot of layers to him. I never understood the whole situation about him and Brad, but now I do and that is important to understand that about Trevor and his backstory.
