Well Trevor telling Floyd that Debra doesn't love him at the start seemed more like emotional manipulation to me instead of him actually figuring it out.
I love how Trevor gets labeled crazy and dangerous despite the fact every GTA protagonist is a self-interested serial killer. Michael acts like killing security guards for money is morally superior to Trevor killing people because he's bored and or they offended him. And yet, Trevor's the one who treats his friends like gold, while Michael ditches his friends to save his own ass. First time through, I thought Trevor was crazy. After multiple plays I can see that Trevor has a weird and unconventional, but rock solid moral compass.
the family aspect is what makes it a little different although I see your point. Michaels selfish actions towards his friends are directly correlated with his selfless actions to protect his family. As we see through the game Michael still has that addictive thrill of the criminal life he just had to restrain it due to the protection of the wife and kids. Michael has a motive, as terrible as he might be at the motive (I.E not being good at raising said kids/keeping a good marriage) he still has that instinct to protect and keep his family out of danger. If Michael never met Amanda he would have never done what he did in North Yankton, the same way I think Trevor would have done something similar if he had a family to look after. Either way both are phenomenally written characters with their own personal flaws and methods as to why they are the person they are.
@@MichaelJordanBelfort see my point is, keeping Michael's family safe is no one's responsibility besides Michael's. It's bullshit for him to say he had no choice, he had to fuck his buddies over to keep his family safe. One, having a family as a criminal was his and Amanda's choice, and two, Amanda and the kids would have been fine if Michael was in prison or dead. Michael being in prison really only affects Michael. We don't give felons and murderers sweetheart deals because they have a spoiled rotten family. Michael is 100% being a manipulative dick every time he brings them up as reason for what he did.
@@Quinn-lk8ls what part of the game is there remorse? Aside from the security guard in the first mission of the game, Michael doesn't say anything about all the people he killed. In fact, when he comes out of retirement he's happy. Speaking of, he came out of retirement because he attempted to kill/maim his wife's Tennis coach. As for him "protecting his family", he puts them at risk more than anything. Creating the family as a criminal is insanely selfish, then using said family to sell out all you fellow criminals isn't "the moral thing to do" either. Then we can see in numerous points how Michael's anger puts them in more danger, eg going to the boat Tracy is on and making a scene (which was such a predictable outcome that Jimmy was able to manipulate it into happening). I could go on. I'm not saying any of this to make people dislike Michael, but to see him as a flawed person like the other characters. Next to one in GTA is actually "moral", despite my hyperbole. Also, Michael isn't prideful? That's like his schtick. He spends the whole game mentoring Franklin, which he wouldn't do if he wasn't proud of his criminality.
@@datgurl12121 he regrets the whole north Yankton heist going loud because it led to unnecessary death. That’s a huge part of his ideology when it comes to heists is for there to be no unnecessary death; jewel store, and UD show this. He could have easily killed the guarded harassing Franklin, and the guard they let go in the big score. Michael may be proud of his stealing but not of killing. So while I think both of their actions are morally terrible, Michael (canonically) doesn’t go out of his way or enjoy killing people like Trevor does
4. Trevor hated Steve Haines so much, he never liked him and never trusted him, and also he hated Devin Weston too. 1. Franklin hated Stretch so much because he wanted him, Lamar and Trevor killed, so that's why Michael was perfect to kill Stretch.
Great analysis. From what I think of Trevor, hes the type that wont ever do a deal with a sworn enemy and instead finish them off right away when there is a chance. If he was in Nikos place in GTA IV, he would have taken the Revenge ending and finish off Dimtri on the ship but he would also finish off Pegerino right away instead of waiting.
The big reason most of us hate Scouting The Port is because you can’t run and you have to go up on that crane and move those containers and that guy’s attitude doesn’t make it any better and he just pisses you off even more and then it’s hell of a drive from the port to the Merryweather warehouse to Floyd’s apartment.
On the matter of the O'Neils, note that the mini-cutscene where the main 3 say they're going to attend the deal with the Chinese occurs AFTER a camera shift to a TPS angle, then we shift back to Trevor. That was to tell us the audience he didn't get them all, Trevor didn't know that and given the size of the family I can see it being hard to confirm. (The car Trevor can witness leave if he takes the stealthy approach initially is not them, you can either kill those guys prior or blow up the car as it leaves, that's just to reward stealthy players with fewer enemies for their patience)
He's smarter than most GTA characters, the protagonists tend to be higher functioning in that they're usually portrayed as very competent. Trevor is very competent, even if he's a maniac, which makes him scarier because he's not just a loose cannon, he's a loose cannon with very good aim. Also, he seems to understand nuance, he has nuanced discussions about political things, albeit typically in a sarcastic way, and he understands the way the world works better than most. He's well researched, and he knows how to listen to other people to inform his decisions. He is shortsighted, that's his downfall.
I never thought Trevor "was crazy" when he was trying to get a taste of the other side of the Brick. I knew very well that he could see right through the drug dealer's deception. Shortly before playing this mission for the first time I watched that episode of American Dad where Stan took a briefcase, put some phonebooks inside it and laid money on top of the phonebooks to make the it appear like there was more money in the briefcase. Seeing he was willing to play a trick to try and cheat someone I was certain that someone else would try to use deception to trick someone else in a similar manner.
Would there be enough to have a Top 5 Dumbest Things Michael Has Done? Two of them would be pulling down the deck of that home in the Vinewood Hills without bothering to see who the real owner is, and also using his quote to the parking guy during the Vangelico Heist which tips off Trevor like Dave predicted. I could also say hiring the wrong crew members for heists, but that's more of the player's choice
First off, great video as always. I love how you always take different people from different perspectives and make them work and sound natural when they interact. Second, it sounds like Cohen is following through with the same approach Nikolai did before in BO4 and that means these Zomboys are on borrowed time. And third, it also sounds like the next video is gonna be a Shreebington Joshua Shaw collab. Either way, can’t wait to see the next episodes between our two presidential zomboy channels.
Funny enough, I always found Trevor as intelligent through his *insults* at Michael. I would think to myself "Wow, this guy has pretty good emotional awareness" just from the way he would pick Michael's brain apart and saying how much of a coward he is😂
Also in that port mission, Trevor puts up an Italian accent because in the GTA universe, dock workers have affiliations with the italian mob. This also an indicator of his intellect and experience when it comes to planning heists.
You should do a video about stretch. You can tel just based on hood safari and the phone call with stretch afterwards that it was clearly a bigger setup, they even have the house key inside the fake coke since they were buying a kg or a "key" almost as a way to say "you got trolled"
sure trevor is smart and that is cool or whatever, but it was a real dumb move of him to not want to steal a truck full of pineapples. you know how much he would make from just cutting up the pineapples and spreading them across a bunch of pizzas, then calling them hawaiian pizza? he would probably make more from it than his illegal operations, and just from stealing one truck full of pineapples.
Who ever said Trevor is stupid. Dudes a Pilot, insainly gifted with number, and runs his own drug and gun smuggling rings damn near himself, he's just very emotional driven which causes him to make bad decisions time to time
Honestly No.5 is very much disputed. The way Trevor plans the heist is smart but the item he and his crew have stolen was a superweapon that the American's was going to sell to the Chinese, but what Trevor didn't know was the consequences and aftermath he and the crew would receive if they did not return the superweapon.
You can just gjve some lines from the bug score and it'd prove how smart he can be. Two tons of gold, with the rates of around $700 to $2k an ounce made it $200mil or thereabout. He did it in one second before the gold guy even had a chance to think.
There's a saying that 'intelligence and insanity go hand in hand.' Characters like Trevor Phillips are clear examples of that; he is both the smartest and the most deranged member of the group. And this rule applies to pretty much anything. The Joker is the smartest non-robotic mortal being in the entirety of the DC Franchise, and those behind him; Lex Luthor, the Riddler, Scarecrow, Hugo Strange, etc. all insane. Even Batman, the most intelligent hero in DC has his fair share of major mental problems. Strangelove, Jekyll, Moriarty; the list goes on.
Happy 10th to Gta 5! Trevor is insane but smart and he is a sociopath other than psychopath characters such as Catalina, Brad and Tenpenny. But Trevor is loyal to Patricia, cares deeply about Michael's kids and he's always been straight and true with Franklin. Another thing is that Trevor also hates betrayal and he wouldn't help Franklin kill Michael when he turned on him for scumbag Devin Weston
Another thing that probably aided trevor in figuring out that that brick of cocaine was a fake was the fact that he spent enough time in LS to understand the gang culture there Learned about CHF and the ballas and the Vagos He probably connected the dots and thought "why are some guys who represents CHF are going down to Ballas territory to buy coke? Because if there's one lesson that my brother has taught me is that to never conduct business with people you haven't personally interacted with. (He used to be affiliated with a certain group)
Knowing how much Rockstar Games milks the fuck out of GTA 5 it wouldn’t surprise me if they released the game for the FORTH time but this time as the 10 year anniversary edition
Hard to believe GTA V is a decade old now.. And this is the longest period of time GTA has gone without an official sequel.. It's crazy all around. That being said, whether people like this game or not, GTA V has definitely made its mark on the world as far as video games go! Heres to hoping we'll get GTA VI this decade. Lol
I think even if Michael said "The driver" when Trevor asked about the grave, Trevor would have still been suspicious or double thinking because Trevor would have been like "Oh really? He died a long while ago before you got shot and cops found us" as it wouldnt make sense that some random body would be used from the street as if that body was involved with the crew
Trevor may not be at moments not the Brightest Crayon in the Box, but He does have His Moments of Eureka. He probably be even more Deadly if He wasn't so Spiritic at Times, but it adds depth to His Character & Flaws... 5. Yeah, He sense something but He's more of a Hands-On kind of Guy. It's shame that Him, Franklin, & Michael had to give it right back because of Lester informed Them that They had made a Big Mistake, after Their Hard-Earned Efforts. But it shows everything is about timing & feeling things out. 4. Yeah, He was Smart realizing that Mr. K would put Himself & His Own Family in danger, with a Loose Cannon like Steve Haines. Because Stevie has Government Connections, which makes Him a very Dangerous Man. 3. I'm still feel for Johnny K & The Lost, & still rather Sore, however Trevor knows He should hit Them at Their Weakest Moment & They will most likely wouldn't come after Him unless You take Trevor to travel in Their Territory. 2. Well, granted He finally figure things out, but He should have realized things sooner & other Red Flags. Like thinking Brad had changed, true some do, but most of the time, Criminals become even more Hardcore then after Prison. But at least Trevor is about Loyalty, in which Johnny K was trying to do, but He realized the Gang had cracks by select Characters of that are in it for Themselves & betrayed the Lost. Which is very depressing... But Trevor was still a Ticking Time Bomb. 1. Yeah, Trevor knew to check the "Brick" for authenticity, which was also very Humorous as much as Cliche-Moment. Franklin was in too much of a hurry, but Trevor been in so many Deals & other Shady Antics, He can live to tell His Tale(s). Honorable Mentions: Yeah, He was spot on about Floyd & Debra, but was shocked to find out about who's Bob & things got real ugly real quick... Also, I wanna point out how similar Trevor & Michael are in ways, other than being Criminals Themselves. Michael likes to watch Hero-Esk, Movies & use 1 Liners. Where Trevor use a Speech about Things hidden in the Dark comes out into the Light, & also in His own way He's rather Patriotic (though with Political Conspiracies & all), He wanted to Protect the Country in His own ways. And He did originally wanted to serve the Country, kinda like Vic Vance, but only Vic wanted to make Money for His Family.
Trevor is my 2nd favorite character in the series and I love him and his loyalty to others is my favorite part about his character just be loyal to him and he be loyal to you

@@Flashguy4826 at the end the tone in his "Who's Bob" suggests to me he was surprised too
@@ShihammeDarc Fair point.
Trevor is pretty good at reading people though. It’s easy to make conclusions about guys like Floyd
@@ShihammeDarc He could've said it sarcastically.
Michael is morally superior because he actually has remorse for his killing, and isn’t prideful of them
@@Quinn-lk8ls what part of the game is there remorse?
So while I think both of their actions are morally terrible, Michael (canonically) doesn’t go out of his way or enjoy killing people like Trevor does
WOAH
I NEVER THOUGHT TREVOR WOULD BE SURPRISINGLY SMART DESPITE BEING SUCH A INSANE AND CRAZY MENTALLY UNSTABLE MANIAC
Happy 10th Anniversary GTA 5. Great video Professional as always.💙👍🏽
What’s more insane than Trevor is this ad! I love this channel but you gotta work on the sponsor segment, it was real charming though.
Debra may have been thought firearm training from bob, but she was never thought to not threaten Trevor Phillips.
I knew Hood Safari was gonna be in here! 😂 “You can’t fucking hustle, a hustler!”
Love the lore video Patrick its absolutely a great banger
35:25 "I'm saving you from yourself" literally gets floyd beaten the s out of not 20 seconds later in the mission
13:18 never seen this scene might be my new favorite trevor scene
First off, great video as always. I love how you always take different people from different perspectives and make them work and sound natural when they interact.
Second, it sounds like Cohen is following through with the same approach Nikolai did before in BO4 and that means these Zomboys are on borrowed time.
And third, it also sounds like the next video is gonna be a Shreebington Joshua Shaw collab.
Either way, can’t wait to see the next episodes between our two presidential zomboy channels.
Funny enough, I always found Trevor as intelligent through his *insults* at Michael. I would think to myself "Wow, this guy has pretty good emotional awareness" just from the way he would pick Michael's brain apart and saying how much of a coward he is😂
38:10 hood safari is one of my favorite missions in GTA 5
Also in that port mission, Trevor puts up an Italian accent because in the GTA universe, dock workers have affiliations with the italian mob. This also an indicator of his intellect and experience when it comes to planning heists.
I was in 3rd grade when this game released now I just graduated high school and it’s still the most recent gta game
Right? I was like 11-12 years old when the trailer dropped. Now I'm 22 and there _still_ hasn't been another game, it's uncanny.
It’s hard to do satire when all the headlines look like Onion articles.
GTA V and GTA San Andreas are still the two best GTA games to ever be made.
Trevor is a perfect example about how even intelligent people can be crippled by anger and anxiety.
I love your lore videos professional! Hope you keep them coming !
Who ever said Trevor is stupid. Dudes a Pilot, insainly gifted with number, and runs his own drug and gun smuggling rings damn near himself, he's just very emotional driven which causes him to make bad decisions time to time
Ill always lol at the "woah, whos Bob?"
Top quality content, pro! Love your vids. keep up the awesome work!
3:00 Was sitting through the ad and I started busting out laughing it caught me off guard 😂😂
Im glad someone else thinks that Trevor is quite intelligent. He may be insane but that doesnt mean that he is a dummy.
After hearing how you said Scouting the Port is one of your favorite missions I’d love to see your ranking of all the missions
Another thing that probably aided trevor in figuring out that that brick of cocaine was a fake was the fact that he spent enough time in LS to understand the gang culture there
Learned about CHF and the ballas and the Vagos
He probably connected the dots and thought "why are some guys who represents CHF are going down to Ballas territory to buy coke?
Because if there's one lesson that my brother has taught me is that to never conduct business with people you haven't personally interacted with. (He used to be affiliated with a certain group)
Knowing how much Rockstar Games milks the fuck out of GTA 5 it wouldn’t surprise me if they released the game for the FORTH time but this time as the 10 year anniversary edition
Ha ha maybe but they are still not that bad like Square Enix are.
I really love how you introduced your sponsor.
Trevor is a killer but he has a heart
He's not dumb, he's just insane and out of control
Lol! At the end of the video, it was a brick, alright. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol
🎉 Happy 10th Year Anniversary Gta 5!
Good video. Alot of people think he’s just crazy and not smart, but he definitely is smart
I see you took my advice on a new list topic.
Your the only UA-camr that I don't skip the sponsor part.
I think, looking past his insanity, that Trevor might be the smartest GTA character ever.
He's like the guy from your class that is so dumb academically yet so smart in real life situations
I was 8 when this game came out. Now im 18 and halfway through college
I'm sorry but that LCS radio song at 3:00 caught me off guard🤣
Trevor's voice actor did a good job
Sure Trevor's insane but at least he's smart and truly care about Michael and Franklin.
Trevor is my 2nd favorite character in the series and I love him and his loyalty to others is my favorite part about his character just be loyal to him and he be loyal to you
With this video you did more for the anniversary of gta 5 than rockstar games...
To me it feels more like experience being a drug runner for many years made him realize the guy selling the Brick was selling him drywall, not necessarily smarts (Not saying you don't need that too).
Trevor is very smart sometimes. Good work on the video.
Don't forget that, he might look silly and crazy, but he's a professional robber.
"You can't fucking hustle a hustler.
Trevor is very smart, but he is so angry and hipster that sometimes it's easy to overlook his intelligence behind all that.
13:16 | This scene always cracks me up lol
Happy 10th Anniversary for GTA V! 🎉🎉
Trevor was never a bad guy. Insane minded. Yes. Cannibal. Yes. But a villain. He’s more chaotic neutral. Or more like lawful evil. Because at least he has principles. He would never lean into treachery. He never backstabs people. Sure. There’s lose ends he must deal with. But he will deal with these ends immediately.
Are you kidding me now? Of course he is a villain. Guy killed many innocent people. He enjoys the pain. It's like telling that Max from Life is Strange is not a bad person.
@@starlaixystarhey, don't bring max into this! 😠 she's really not! She made some mistakes, and didn't always know that some of them were wrong until she committed them.
Crazy that gta 5 is 10 years old
I was in 10th grade when it came out, just about to turn 16.
And now I’m just a nobody
