He hated his singing voice and he was extremely paranoid even before he was famous, that people were following him or listening in on his phone calls. Sam I am .......I think John’s insecurity had deeper roots. A mother who couldn’t (or wouldn’t) rear him, a father he barely knew or saw, I can understand John’s insecurities. It’s for this reason I think Yoko was good for John, she was/is a strong personality and besides being John’s friend, lover and ultimately, wife and mother of Sean, (I felt) she was something of a “mother figure” to John too. She ticked all the boxes so to speak. I loved John and he’s an artist I truly miss.
I’m a professional harmony singer and arranger and grew up in the 1960’s listening to the Beatles. I know these backwards and forwards, but wow wow wow, i could listen to these harmonies for days on end. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THESE!!! 🥰 Their harmonies were so creative and their voices in harmony still give me goosebumps, 55 years later, especially isolated andvwith just the right amount of reverb-exquisite! 👌

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but you really think it's one of the best that John primarily wrote. Its not his worst song by any means. But I can think of dozens of songs that are better than this.

Unless George has suddenly developed a much higher pitch in his harmony voice, that must be Paul hitting the really high stuff.......or, there's some double-tracking going on.

I used to use my old record player. I have an original stereo copy of Rubber Soul from 1965 and you can do this on every song on the album with a simple turn of the speaker L/R knob. Simple.
Lucy Gloom George sings the “high” part not Paul. George sung for falsetto. Paul does sing high but he’s not using falsetto. George uses his falsetto in this song, the word, and paperback writer with John.
Enough of this John’s the best, or Paul’s the best rubbish - The Beatles was a sum of its parts - all 5 of them (George Martin always deserves massive credit for his contribution). The solo years output sums up why they always worked best together.
