    Seiryu stone and spider wood is all I have to choose from in my city. Aqua scaping is not a thing here in Hervey Bay Queensland Australia. I picked up this hobby late last year and love it. I donated a tank with my scape to restaurant and people love it and ask if it's "real" "where can I buy it"( they thinking it's plastic and can buy whole tank set up like that)
    And I'm umm 😅 you can't just buy it you have to put it together.
    So it just a small 45cmx30x25 tank
    With seriyu stone with a hand made bonsai tree from Vietnam off eBay (because I wasn't happy with the spiderwood) " Java moss on it, and Monte Carlo. Simple but effective, just had red cherry shrimp and neon Terra's.

    In almost all aquarium building videos, if you take a bird's flight view when the hardscape is completed, it will help give an idea in terms of both decoration and maintance. Additionally, a comprehensive video on what we should pay attention to when creating a hardscape would also be very useful.

    Thank you soooo much for adding that video 3 weeks after I've started my 90gal. I hate you guys lol! And to all of you wondering I got one thing to tell you - if you use roots: Step 1 - attach huge stones to sink it. Step 2 add even bigger and heavier stones to it just to make sure it doesnt float. I stopped after step 1 and after filling up the water the whole scape went to sh... so I had to start all over again and I felt like crying. Seriously you would not believe how dedicated to floating roots are lol.

    The only problem I have with all these videos, is that you are standing next to a box with 500 kilos of rock, an assortment of about 1000 pieces of wood, etc. In the real world, we may have one in the area we reside in, and some of us, can only purchase it online which gets expensive. I would love for subscribers to send a single box of what they have on hand, and you make an aquascape using materials that the average person has. That would even be a great challenge for competition. Boxes of unknown origin, quantity, or size for the competitors to work with. Outside of that box, they can pick any two items from your stash.

    Balasz I love this video, very informative, and less promotional material and in this video. You really set the standard for high quality video, editing, narration and informative content! I use a drinking water safe single part Epoxy putty to glue rocks together. Steelstik by JBWeld but there are probably others in plumbing supply and hardware stores. It has no noxious odors or mixing of an activator required and is safe for livestock and your hands.

    This video is very informative! It is unfortunate that my country has very limited rocks or stone, we don't find much in aquarium stores. Also quite costly estimate SGD$8/kg, but can't get much. Whenever i see them, i always admire the beauty of nature and aquascaping. :)

      You can probably go out hiking and find some rocks that will not harden the water and not leach silicates into the water.

    Really enjoy your videos but I have to admit that they make me green with envy. They selection of hardscape and plants available in my area is very limited and I’ve tried mail ordering plants but doing so is hit or miss at best.

    Im more than one year late but thank you for this comprehensive video. For ppl like me that do not have access to a local supplies shop and have to do exclusively with ordering online, one thing that wasnt covered is the weight difference between types of stone. For example how much heavier is frodo stone than dragon/lava rock ? Weight is a factor both on budget and on how much pressure it puts on the glass itself since the volume is pretty much the same.

      @GreenAquaShop  2 роки тому

      I have no exact data, but Frodo>Dragon>Fuji is the order.
      I recommend our hardscape picking service. Can find it on our website.

    Great information here! I did an acid soak (use extreme caution) with my Seiryu before scaping my tank... I have not had an issue with any hardening of the water with 35 pounds of stone in a 40 gallon tank. Maybe I am just lucky. As always, I love all the information that you continue to contribute to this wonderful community.

      Yeah, that would remove some of the Calcium residue from the outside. But it is a very dangerous thing to do. :) I did that before, never again. :) Cheers!

      @@GreenAquaShop It was "exciting" that is for sure. Pretty sure my neighbors thought I had lost my mind standing outside in a full jumpsuit, gloves, chemical goggles, and a respirator while staring at a bubbling bucket of rocks. It is certainly not something I would suggest for everyone, but I am glad I did it! Cheers!

    You did show us before ( how to make a contest tank)but now Tommy achieved this high ranking maybe he or you all can take us on the journey to make a new tank for next year, from white board to finish. I would watch it. Us commenting can achieve that extra point. Call it a GA scape so you can enter the contest also on a personal name and not show that one ( it ranks higher than?). You got the supplies.

      Yeah, he is very energetic now with this result and already said to me just yesterday that he wants to scape a new layout in the same tank. We'll make sure to capture the story on video Ed.
