I think this video is one of my favorites. Thank you so much for creating it. I think that aquascaping brings together everything I love most: nature, creativity, technology, photography, design. It's an art form and I think Green Aqua is a concentration of artists. The influence that Mr. Amano has had on you is very evident. You're a bit like the Steve Jobs of aquascaping. It is from the fusion of art, science and technology that the best things come out. Well done! Keep going!

FINALLY! Someone said it out loud that there is a difference between fishkeeping and aquascaping. I beleive they are equal in like none is better then the other. Also beleive that as much as they have in common they also have as differences. Sensei is speaking some great points for sure!
As you know up until now I’ve had natural kind of tanks and my tanks were build around the fish I was to keep in them, so I’ve tried to learn about the certain fishes natural habitat first.
In about 2 weeks I’m bringing home my first ever SCAPE... (you know which one) so this will be new territory for me. Excited to learn the new stuff... I will answer the question with an addition to scapes in about a year :)

In this vlog, you had talked about your own development from various perspectives. This in itself is highly inspirational and encouraging for those who are eager to reach a higher level. On a more personal note, I got very emotional as you had mentioned one of my late friend, Dr. Popper Péter, who I still miss terribly, along with another email-pal of mine, Takashi-san. And that time I did not know who he is in the world of aquascaping. Thank you for bringing up those memories of mine, which I cherish so much as I cherish the friendship of all at Green Aqua.

Really creative people usually get their ideas from somebody or something else. Just think of the great artists of the past. I was thinking of the Ghent altarpiece. Really a groundbreaking piece but he or they got their inspiration from other altar pieces. So I get my inspiration from other scapes that I see and then I make what I like and incorporate as much as I can. The conference by Josh Sims helped me a lot and I will simply try and incorporate as much as he presented as I can. Nagyon szepen koszonom, Balacz. This is a very very good presentation.

I was surprised and happy when I saw your first picture for inspiration, Balazs. I come from there! Cenotes are located in the Yucatan Peninsula, southeast of Mexico. The ground is very calcareous and there are underground rivers because the ground is like a huge sponge. Over thousands of years, underground wells called cenotes are formed, the older ones get so big that the roof collapses and they form what you saw on your picture: An open type cenote.

Being a professional psychological counselor and a beginner level aquascaper I always try to read the psychological needs of my customers to creat a layout. According to me reading of humans psychology is one of the basic step to creat a scape for them because in my view main aim of any scape is giving a psychological peace to the viewer (here comes the role of psychological need).
@Balaz thanks for sharing your insight in this topic. Love your way of explanation.

Thank you for this beautiful video! I get something new from every upload- among the things I learned from this video is that "to scape" means "to build". And I also see why I I've been struggling - I build scapes that keep getting dwarfed by my swords and ludwigia. I now see I either need a really big scape or much smaller plants. Thanks for the encouragement to keep learning and growing!

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 роки тому

Absolutley. The scaling with plants is a tool that needs to be used, this is why we don't use big echinodorus too much. Or ludwigia. But they are beautiful plants!

@@SteveScapesYT i think most home aquariums are going to look more like iaplc/na type tanks. People want that experiance at home but many hobbiests dont have the knowlege like building hardscape, creating layers and perspecive. Greenaqua did a unbelievable goog job with their workshops. Bud we need more People creating videos like you Steve. Not just for the fact of contest competition. But we need that contest influence for our Hobby. The tipps and tricks (not all of them😉), the one on ons. I think this is also a wonderful goal for the top aquascapers over the world charing this knowlege and content and having a huge influence to our growing community. Sorry for my english. Another change is the perspective of looking or even a departure from the traditional cuboid aquarium. Set the hardscape so that it is not just a perpendicular projection, but a view from a different observation angle. For example, a cylinder where the hardscape is glued to the walls and the perspective converges in the middle of the cylinder. We can also create a tank where it is only possible to view the tank from below.

Okay, somewhere about a year ago, I learned about this place, within a land, far far away.... it is a beautiful world.... a world I know as.... "The Beautiful World of Aquascaping!"
I learned that I could transport myself to this world with my own phone. I started watching and watching and I started finding secrets within videos. The inhabitants of this world....we're much different than me, only because they had discovered they could create wonderful little slices of nature.... Little Worlds.... inside of glass boxes.... Something I had only known as an aquarium....
So I watched some more and I discovered there was a process.... So I started learning.... They showed me their secrets.... Secrets that could help me transform my own aquarium....
    I watched, I enjoyed, I learned....
I started thinking differently.... Then my thoughts were always on this world.... "How could I, a simple girl like me (well old lady) create one of these worlds of my own... In my own aquarium...."
I started noticing my surroundings, I started rewatching videos, I started really listening, I learned the golden ratio....I started collecting materials, growing plants, picking up rocks, and driftwood, rewatching videos, taking more frequent trips to Nature, drawing pictures, watching master classes, learning different styles and even communicating with the ones from this world....
Okay that's all I got for now 😂😂😂
While I've been learning all of this... I started transforming my own aquariums into planted tanks, learning about the different types of plants, what it takes to grow them, substrate, lighting, fertilizers, CO2... Learning about the different styles of aquascaping.... So now I'm planning.... And being an artistic person I will take all of this that I've learned and honestly until I start my new endeavor that is where my creativity will start to kick in.... It's almost time for me to start.... Until then.... I will dream and keep watching.... Green Aqua 😁💚🌿🌱🐟🌱🌿💚

My focus starting from this year is mainly on contest and since i have a 60cm aquarium, i want to reach out to the maximum potential a 60 cm tank can do.
I start with a rough sketch on a paper keeping golden ratio in mind. i draw the perspective direction and layout endpoint. After that to get some idea on the hardscape or driftwood use, i watch old IAPLC contest tanks and analyze them, sometimes i watch way back 2011 or 2012 IAPLC videos because its good to have a look back to get some inspiration.
Once i get the idea what i have to go for then i search for it in nature photo or any landscape photo on internet for e.g. how a fallen wood/tree look in river covered with moss or how rock looks like in a stream in the rainforest etc.
So these really help me to understand how in nature certain plants grow or look like.
then once i finalize my composition , i work on the colors which can be added through different plants of course and decide their position in the layout.
At last i run through the points mentioned by Josh sim in his tutorial and evaluate my sketch. It help me to add as more as possible.
so this is the overall process i am going through from last year to prepare for next year contests.
