It's strange, even before know the golden ratio, my eyes naturally set scapes up in this way as it's the way we see nature without even thinking about it. Great video guys :)
Yup for many people this comes naturally. Others having a hard time to see these layouts with a photographic eye. For them, it may be helpful in some way. 👍
@@multipletanksyndrome hi thank you for asking! It's going pretty well now i guess. Im a student in a dorm, after just half a year i gave up having the perfect aesthetics & techs 😂 my betta died few months ago and now i just keep lots of cherry shrimps in a 5 gal tank with a forest of easy plants and some pothos & peace lily in the hob filter. Far from my expectation in the beginning but it's a healthy tank :))
You know Balazs. That sci-fi tank you showed has really stuck in my brain. Saw it a few years ago and created a tank similar. I didn’t know it was your tank. But I love it
I actually quite like the scape at 12:15. UA-cam honestly as a site has gotten really shit but it's honestly channels like this that remind me UA-cam is a great site BECAUSE of the people on it. I don't know why but ever since I can remember I've always loved in some form or another geography. Something about landscapes and nature really brings some joy to me. So it wasn't far fetched to fall in love with aquascaping. When you run out of outdoor space for plants, bring them indoors in the form of tanks. I want to say a huge thank you for these videos, all of which are free, you've really helped me out regardless of whether the videos were intended to teach or not, talking about videos that aren't educational in terms of you're just making some cool videos doing what you do. Having watches quite a few videos and learning for your tutorials I think I'm beginning to grasp the subject. Obviously very far from being proficient but I hope I get there one day. I have realised though that the 118L tank I recently got second hand is probably a bit too big for a first go. So I'll be sticking that in the shed and buying an ada 'nano-ish' tank around the 30-40L mark and taking it to an aqua store and trying to build something that I can take home. All the best Green Aqua team, - Michael.
I've watched quite a few vids on scaping now and this is the first one i have watched through to the end. Not only is it informative but also a) you speak clearly; b) you do not speak in monotone and c) you are not patronising. Thanks for a great video.
@@GreenAquaShop Quick questions: I am looking for a bigger aquarium. Currently have 60l but fish and prawns have been breeding and it is going to be overcrowded. I am looking for around 190l/200l. Due to size, the location in my house may have to be a corner. I have not seen any aquascaping from you guys for corner aquariums. Is this not recommended? or too hard? I am looking at either a Juwel lido or if in the corner, Juwel trigon. I see you do not sell Juwel on your website. Is this because you do not think the Juwel brand is good? Is it ok to scape with units with a closed top and inbuilt LED lights? thanks!

Wow! Excellent. While your store displays are amazing, this adds so much hope on how to get there. Thank you so much for all the help(and the humor you add included)!
Yeah, the workshops show usually the whole process, but there's not much time to detail the hardscape building process, and this video is exactly that. Glad you found it useful, stay tuned for more from us. 👍🏻

In a lot of your older videos, the cuts with music were much louder than people talking. I was always turning the volume up and down constantly to hear people talking, then turning the volume down as to not get blown away by super loud music. Good job on the editing! It does get noticed!

Some of your earlier videos you seemed more nervous and it felt a bit forced but as you've gone on you seem so at ease and more natural in front of the camera and its informative as ever. Been nice to see the growth.
Thanks, well, we all learn stuff as we experience it, right? Some with the work in front of the camera, others with arranging hardscape. It was really difficult for me to speak in English in front of a camera, alone in a room at the beginning, at it kinda still is, but learned a bit how to deal with it, hope to be better in the future. 😊👊🏻
@@GreenAquaShop Yeah that is very true and you do speak English very well considering its not your first language. I can barely speak a second language. @4:30 In fine art composition we call this the rule of thirds. The triangle design plays with perspective to add depth to the minimal space. This can be found in Renaissance paintings, ref. "School of Athens".
Nice video 👍 I think what’s most hopeful for beginners is the materials you are using. Take your time and choose the right pieces. Anyone can create a professional incredible aquascape when they simply have the right pieces in front of them / very simple when you have unlimited access to rocks, plants and wood.
This is why we always say that you should get twice as many rocks as you need and use the remaining ones in other aquariums, or future scapes, or simply return them to your lfs.
Finally, something about the essence of the GR! I enjoyed it so much, that may I suggest making another video. This was simply too short, as I could watch it for an hour or so.

Excellent! Green Aqua Rules. I've learned a great amount and have grown enormous inspiration from watching your entertaining, helpful and informative, top quality videos. Thank you very much, and much appreciation for sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience. Keep it coming!
Great tutorial Balazs. I'm new to aquascaping and this type of videos from someone with a lot of experience are really helpful. Now I need to think how to achieve the golden ratio with one lava rock and one piece of moor wood. Greetings from Guatemala
I would place them right next to each other - probably - this is just a speculation, on one side of the tank, with their 'weight center' at the golden ratio point. 💡
Glad you found it useful, yeah, some people use these rules unconsciously, I'm a very conscious person, so I measure and plan everything with a math precision. I'm a quarter German, that's probably why. 😂😇
Another great video, golden ratio is much like the thirds in photography. Basically good composition for the viewer. I bought a Nano tank and would have filled it with plastic sh.... from the pet shop. Thanks for saving me. Watching you work, and the finished results are very therapeutic.
Really good explanation. Feels like a real class to a beginners like me.. very easy to understand for a fast learners. But for me i need to watch it twice😅. Thanks Guys for making this video.🤗
Very informative video. It really changed my perspective of how an aquarium should be built up. I love the golden ratio theory - it resembles that for taking photos. 👍
It not only resembles, but it's totally something that comes from photography and fine arts. Really glad that you had a revelation here, good luck with building your new tank with that idea in mind. Cheers.
Now I finally know why I love aquascaping so much... It's like LEGO 😂🤣 Nice one Balasz, more of these quick hardscape examples please, maybe in a bigger tank. I really like this 👌👍
Thanks Nick, yeah Lego is nice, too bad I grew up without it - there was no Lego in the communist Romania in my childhood, but I'm kinda' compensating for it now.😄
I didn't think about that at all, when I wrote my comment... 😞 Sorry mate. However you (and us Green Aqua fans!) are very lucky to have discovered aquascaping, which is indeed a great compensation for having missed lego. In fact aquascaping is even more then that, it's an enrichment to life, a great way to relax, enjoy nature and meanwhile learn a thing or 2, even after years of being in the hobby. I think if more people would enjoy this hobby, the world might be a bit better place and people would respect nature a lot more. So enjoy your compensating Balasz and have some rest and green tea, you deserve it!
Haha, thanks, you are very kind. Well don't be sorry, I actually had the best childhood - even without some basic stuff like chocolate, bananas and lego. We had aquariums, been hiking a lot, skiing, etc. Sometimes I think I had a better childhood then my daughter today with her having everything she wants. I'm talking about things. Well, that childhood experience of having tanks lead us here, where we are. Thanks for the wishes, I'm doing exactly that now. Tea and resting. 😉And answering your comments, which is the best thing of the week, keeps me going. Cheers.
I see what you mean mate, I grew up on the countryside with all kinds of animals around me and also aquariums. It indeed lead us to where we are. Nowdays kids grow up in a different world, I think... So keep on spreading the Green Aquascaping religion, might be good for the youngsters 😉👍
Yeah, definitely. I agree with you, times change. It is so good to see teenagers at workshops (even at the Dave Chow workshop we had a couple of them in the audience).
This is a great video discussing design. Similar to training for art and architecture. I’m about to scape my first cube. Any suggestions for layout since the rectangle is now a square. My first inclination is for a single island a teeny bit off center. I have a piece of petrified wood that has a flat top so I imagine a monolithic stone formation rising out of the prairie with a little vegetation on its top. Inspired by your comment to mimic a landscape from movie or favorite place.
Love the video. The sparkle in Balazs's eyes never dull even though he's been so tired from producing aquascaping videos. I get weary after watching so many green aqua videos, but when I look at Balazs's eyes as he describes aquascaping, I get motivated to learn more! Someone's purposely putting this in the golden ratio of the video. By the way, do you have a more in depth tutorial on what to put outside of the golden ratio? We seem to focus so much on what to put inside the golden ratio. If this come across as irrelevant, I'm happy to stand corrected!
Wait until you see my golden ratio tee in one of the future videos. Haha. Anyways, everything else should be constructed to lead the eye towards to golden ratio :)
It's strange, even before know the golden ratio, my eyes naturally set scapes up in this way as it's the way we see nature without even thinking about it. Great video guys :)

Very nice advices. Some rocks don't change water parameters. Like lava rocks granite.......
Yup there are some. Unfortunately the nice grey ones which is closer to the natural rocks are usually change.
@@GreenAquaShop In my county we have granite in nature, so not only the dark one is nice 😜
Yeah, granite would be perfect. 👍🏻
It's great that you go into the theory behind design aesthetic :) 👍
Glad you found it useful, yeah, some people use these rules unconsciously, I'm a very conscious person, so I measure and plan everything with a math precision. I'm a quarter German, that's probably why. 😂😇
@@GreenAquaShop yes it's a necessity and as a German and former design student I can totally relate to that :D
Haha, okey, glad to hear that. 😇
Another great video, golden ratio is much like the thirds in photography. Basically good composition for the viewer.
I bought a Nano tank and would have filled it with plastic sh.... from the pet shop. Thanks for saving me.
Watching you work, and the finished results are very therapeutic.
Haha, sounds good that we saved you. Good luck with the tank, glad you like our videos.
Great video, lots of useful information. Thank you
Thanks Richard, glad you found it useful. Cheers.👍🏻
I enjoyed the lessons so much. Thank you.
That's great. Mission accomplished, you're welcome! 😎
Love you guys at green aqua👍
What a brilliant video!
Thanks so much Ingrid, glad you like the setup rules tutorial. Cheers.
Great tutorial!
Thanks, glad you found it useful. Stay tuned for more from us.🙏🏻👍🏻
Awesome video. I started my first nano high tech planted tank and i have changed it 4 or 5 times lol. The latest composition is my profile picture.
Thanks so much. Trial-and-error, that's key in this hobby, you've probably done everything very well. Cheers.
Ive been in the african cichlid hobby for 15 years but thankfully they dont do plants. Rockscapes are sooooooo much easier.
Yeah, plants do not really work with those beautiful fish.
Excellent Tutorial sir
Glad you found this useful, thanks for watching.
🥰 Loved it!
Thank you 😊
Great Video! This was very helpful
Cheers!
YEESS GREEN AQUA, so inspirational. Thank you
You're welcome, thanks for watching this.
Really good explanation. Feels like a real class to a beginners like me.. very easy to understand for a fast learners. But for me i need to watch it twice😅. Thanks Guys for making this video.🤗
You're welcome, glad you liked the composition rules video.
Cheers.
Best tutorial for beginners like me. Looking forward for more videos!
Love to hear you like the vid. We will do more like this in the future for sure. 👍
Great video guys 😀👍
Thanks so much, and thanks for watching. 🙏👍
Great vid as always
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏻👍🏻
Now I finally know why I love aquascaping so much... It's like LEGO 😂🤣
Nice one Balasz, more of these quick hardscape examples please, maybe in a bigger tank.
Very helpful, abt to start a 10gallon. Thought I knew what I wanted. After watching this video, I'm rethinking all of it. But, thank you really!
That's cool, it's always good to rethink our plans, good ideas come through a self-evaluation - always. It happens to me quite often.
Thanks Balazs for another fine and relaxing video, learned alot in 15 minutes :D
That's great, glad you found this useful. Good luck with your tank! 👍
Very nice video, and it is very inspiring.
Thanks so much, glad you find it nice. Good luck with taking that inspiration to another level and creating a nice(r) tank with it. Cheers.
Very nice tutorial! Keep the good job.
Thanks so much, glad you found it useful. Cheers.
@@GreenAquaShop Thanks for the advice!
You're very welcome.
1:45 what kind of rocks did he use there? That look and porosity is perfect for my mega ecosphere.
Sculpted basalt.
Great tips! I see this is going to get addictive. I already want to do another one!
Gogogo, the more you do it, the better you'll get at it.
The one thing that I wanted
Just keep doing what you doing you always inspire me 🙏
That's so great to hear Paul. Good luck with your tanks, and thanks for watching, stay tuned. Cheers.
Just fantastic... 👏👌👍
Thanks a lot, Jack.
You are so passionate. I love it!
Thanks for watching it, you're great.
How to become my favourite channel in more or less.. 10 videos since I discovered you? lol You guys are amazing
This is really cool mate. 😎It's these comments that make us want to deliver more quality content for you guys.
One day I would love to come to GreenAqua!!! Definitely be a wish come true.
We look forward to welcome you by then 👍
@@GreenAquaShop 😀
Great advice 👍
Thx!
Snyggt!
@@GreenAquaShop Haha klart du kan! Du är en grym aquascaper! :D
Another amazing video and so informative and entertaining! Thank you!!!
