There was a tower controller at the airport where I did my pilot training, He was one of those - a miserable SOB that just needed to find a new job. Trouble was he was a few years from retirement and was not going anywhere. So for 2 or 3 years, he made everyone at the airport miserable along with him. When he finally retired, the local pilots through a retirement party and didn't invite him.
I just wanted to say I'm happy that you reported on the floods in NW IA because that's how we found you. I am really enjoying your content and presentation. Thanks for the great content
The most sound advice I ever received was from a sociology teacher I had in college. The only person who can ruin my day is me and after thinking that over, it's amazing how many rectal pores there are in the world who waste good energy trying to ruin an individual's day.
I've been retired a long time, but the best place I ever loaded, ever, was Sauder Furniture in Archbold OH. Friendly beyond any expectations. Showers and sleeping rooms for drivers, plus a cafe-style eating area. Yep, they would feed you too. Long gone hospitality, I'm sure, but back in the day it was a welcome and little-known secret.
Man I love that truck !! Me and my wife really enjoy watching your videos! I drive a truck for a power company pulling a lowboy. Be careful on the rd and if you ever get close to Alexandria Louisiana and need something give me a holla !
There’s a lot of really overstressed crazy people out there right now, you made the right choice to walk away. You’re a good guy Kurt, be safe out there.
Hey Kurt, love your videos keep up the good work me and my dad are owner operators in Australia my dad drives a peterbilt 379 and I drive a Kenworth t650 I was a diesel mechanic before I started driving trucks, I noticed when you were reversing when you got back home while you applied the brakes that your front drive axle was moving forward like you have a worn bush on the suspension or something, hopefully I am wrong especially after all the repairs you have had lately and I know the feeling. Wish all the best from down under
Kurt, I live in Indy. This was just posted tonight. Sr 32 between Crawfordsville and Lebanon is being paved again. Shannon Dale is halfway between the two. A new construction project focused on resurfacing State Road 32 is beginning this week and is expected to last through next summer spanning 10.3 miles from I-65 in Lebanon to Shannondale.
Enjoyed the ride Kurt. I like to see the small towns. Ya i cant stand rude people either. Safe travels to ya, hope you get that ac at 100% would hate to have the big dog overheated. You can drive shirtless, he cant. ❤❤
We do a bunch of drop-and-hooks at the Shelby DC. I have never had a problem there. As you said, we can not know what someone has going on in their life.
Thanks for the ride/scenery, Kurt. Yeah, some people have no respect for others these days. You have the best luck like I do when it comes to rides. First Sarah, then UberDad, 😁👍 Hope you have a nice weekend my friend. Talk to you soon.
I feel u on people being rude I deal with it everyday at the hotel lol but I hope things get better with u bud and be happy when u opie gets go with u again so u and him can be the Kurt and opie duo returns again
I hear ya. I work at a private country club and those individuals take it to a whole another level. There is one constant in this world and that is 'complain about something.'
It's nice to see some scenery in the daylight. Next time you need a ride, Sarah is going to "leave your ass".😂 I would, too. Thanks for the ride. Safe travels, and God bless.
Some people are happy being miserable, and if they can make someone else miserable I am sure it makes their day, I follow you because your, (I'm having a bad day or rant) lightens my day, stay safe, and where is OPIE? regards John
Im sorry there was tension when you delivered to the Menards DC, i delivered to one in Elgin, Illinois recently and the folks there were really nice. I spent the bulk of my trip today on 2 lanes between NOLA & Crockett Texas.
Joe from New Jersey!! Kurt as a former driver i've been there before many times after my bills were signed and ready to go i gave people like that a piece of my mind!!be safe Kurt!!😮
I remember back in the 90’s I had a fan clutch go out on a Cummins. Same Deal. Went to KW at Kennesaw, Georgia. Waited two days. After I had gotten back out on the road I had noticed my A/C wasn’t putting out good. After I got to the terminal I was talking to the mechanic about it. He went out and looked and said they didn’t get a wire from the fan clutch to the computer hooked right. When your compressor for the A/C kicks in the computer tells the fan clutch to engage to pull air the the Condenser/Radiator. Also check the wires to the switches in the lines especially since they put that radiator in. They might have unplugged one or more and didn’t get it tight.
Love that beard . I can’t let mine grow out like that. Mine cooks me. And mine is white as snow. Glad you made it home. Opie will enjoy the cool weather next week
I walked into a receiver with my tanker load and I don’t normally pull on scales at the receiver until I’m told to,the guy came out yelling and screaming pull your friggin truck on the scale. I told him please don’t talk to me that way. He told me I’ll talk to you however I want. I returned the load back to the yard. They sent the load back with another driver driver lost his job because he punched a guy in the mouth for being a smart ass.. Our safety department called the customer and spoke with the boss and they were told he’s always like that and they can’t control him. Tells me they don’t care. Typical NJ Attitude.
I just stopped at the Love's in Shelby, IA a couple of days ago for a pitstop and gasoline on my way back to sw WA from Pennsylvania, I-70 in Indiana seemed like a disaster scene; what a shame!!!!
Enjoyed the drive coming into town. I haven't been on that highway south of town in ages. Has the same nasty turns, but I think a few of the homes that were there then, are no longer there.
+ That ear thing is very serious especially after outdoors camping , some flies get inside the ear permanently , some even attack the brain ( in some cases !! ) 😊
So I am looking at getting my CDL I like your videos cause I like to see what life as a trucker is like I think you're a great guy and honestly I love to learn from you.
Whenever a radiator gets replaced, guarantee freon is low. My friend with a k100 added a 2nd condenser to hold more freon. I believe he added another filter and dryer.
Was watching a Livestream on Brandon copic's channel and he was storm chasing in Mapleton,IA and I mentioned you UA-cam channel and that he was in your hometown and he gave you a shoutout on his channel.
I feel the same way about rude people. I refuse to argue with them or stoop to their level of stupidity. Sometimes people think I'm meek, but I'm good with a coneback line. That shuts them up fast! Loved seeing Opie again. I think he's mad at you for being gone so long.
Hey Schmidt, some folks can be very rude, which is sad. Life is way too short for having to deal with disrespectful people. It happens to me, and all I can do is smile and say, "I hope your day gets better. Love your videos brother, hang in there cause you are blessed! God be with you sir!
Both the Missouri river valley on the west side and also the Mississippi river valley on the east side of Iowa are quite possibly the most scenic in the state.

I've got a story about a receiver that was beyond rude. I'll keep this as short as I can. I had a load going to one of the big paper companies in Seattle. My boss warned me that the guy would be an ass and it didn't matter how nice you were to him... The load I had was extremely hot so I got there as fast as I could. I was about two hours earlier than my appointment time. I walked in and saw the receiving office. The door was open and there were four or five guys sitting in there talking and laughing. One guy looked at me and asked me what I wanted ? I told him what I had and what time my appointment was, and told him I didn't know what he wanted me to do because I hadn't been there before... This clown scoots his chair over to me and tells me that he will get to me whenever he feels like it, and then literally slams the door in my face, and it just barely touched the end of my nose. Well, I opened the door back up and the first thing I told him was, It will take me about two minutes to walk out to my truck, and then I am leaving, and if I leave, your boss is going to be very unhappy. The second thing I told him was, if you ever slam the door in my face again, I will drag you and that chair out into the parking lot and you will end up wearing that chair... I had just got my truck started and he came running out and asked me politely if I would back into a door , so I did. We ended up talking while he was unloading me, and he apologized for the way he acted. As I was getting ready to leave he told me that if I ever came back there that I didn't need to go into the office. Just pick a door and back in and he would make sure that somebody got me unloaded as fast as they could. I ended up taking loads into them at least 3-4 times a month for about three years after that, and we always got along great.
with todays prices, sadly some people have to work jobs they dont like for the paycheck. but like you said maybe he was just having a bad day. love your videos, hope the ac is a easy fix for you

WAY before Maynard's got big-think mid 1990's-the original DC for them was in Eau Claire WI just off I-94 @ Exit 61 or so-there was a gal in the shipping/receiving office-and I use that term very loosely-that lived for making all the drivers hauling their trash in & out of the DC VERY MISERABLE. That "woman" had a mouth that rivaled in sheer nastiness my DI's in Marine boot camp way back in 1980. Always found it odd-they were always looking for trucks to haul to their stores-and it really wasn't a bad place to go into-I do recall they didn't want you headed out unless you were right at max weight-ya scaled & if you were not at least 78K gross-the forklift would go & grab more "stuff" to get ya right up there.
Consider yourself blessed, I watch another trucking youtuber that has his peterbilt in the shop for an extensive period. He is having to drive a rental automatic Volvo day cab in the mean time. He's Canadian and pulls b trains if that gives hints.

Sorry you had to deal with one of those types. I have a coworker that is like that all the time. Complains constantly about the same things. Thought for sure he would have quit a couple years ago. Still there, same story every time I work with him. Can be hard to deal with. I just try to be nice and ignore the best I can.
Super good advice. I have 12,000 followers on Facebook and do a lot of business from the page. My business and my personal is life are operated with one simple philosophy: The Golden Rule. It works over and over and will make a success out of you in everything you do.
Sadly some people aren't happy unless they complain and whine about any little thing they can
Respect needs to be shown in this country, that would possibly make this country a better country

Opie is definitely a comfort dog
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 But he can be the exclamation point on the verbal statement you wish to leave someone with.
You nailed it! You were exactly right in saying, “if you are miserable, quit.” I told my wife the same thing and she is much happier.

A lot of very stressed out people right now, it’s better to just walk away. You made the right choice Kurt, you’re a good man stay safe out there.
That looked like a “20” series JD. Like a 7720 or an 8820 I am guessing. Early-mid-80’s vintage.
Whenever a radiator gets replaced, guarantee freon is low. My friend with a k100 added a 2nd condenser to hold more freon. I believe he added another filter and dryer.
Good evening Kurt hope all's well? That Menards you delivered to I not too long got a load from there and took it over to cedar falls Iowa
Good advice. Sometimes change is good. The jobs are everywhere, even if you think you are too old for consideration.
Opie was acting like some cats we have had, letting you know their displeasure at your absence.

I've got a story about a receiver that was beyond rude. I'll keep this as short as I can.
I had a load going to one of the big paper companies in Seattle. My boss warned me
that the guy would be an ass and it didn't matter how nice you were to him...
The load I had was extremely hot so I got there as fast as I could. I was about two hours
earlier than my appointment time. I walked in and saw the receiving office. The door was open
and there were four or five guys sitting in there talking and laughing. One guy looked at me and
asked me what I wanted ? I told him what I had and what time my appointment was,
and told him I didn't know what he wanted me to do because I hadn't been there before...
This clown scoots his chair over to me and tells me that he will get to me whenever he feels like it,
and then literally slams the door in my face, and it just barely touched the end of my nose.
Well, I opened the door back up and the first thing I told him was, It will take me about two minutes to
walk out to my truck, and then I am leaving, and if I leave, your boss is going to be very unhappy.
The second thing I told him was, if you ever slam the door in my face again, I will drag you and that chair
out into the parking lot and you will end up wearing that chair...
I had just got my truck started and he came running out and asked me politely if I would back into a door ,
so I did.
We ended up talking while he was unloading me, and he apologized for the way he acted.
As I was getting ready to leave he told me that if I ever came back there that I didn't need to go
into the office. Just pick a door and back in and he would make sure that somebody got me unloaded

Used to run alot of two lane roads in Ohio,Indiana,Michigan and Texas. The only thing worse than getting stuck behind a combine is getting stuck behind a caravan of Amish. Always worried about spooking one of the horses.
Only 2 things will spook you a horses 🐎 something they see 👀 or something they don't see 😅

I agree. I've allowed shippers and receivers to get me to lose my temper. But I always stand my ground, move on quickly, and never allowed them to ruin my day. In fact I would rate them and pass it on to my dispatchers to never send me back.
Awesome video can't wait to see opie again.
I had to double take. That looked almost identical to the town I live in. I guess Iowa small towns are a lot alike.
are Truck repairs a Tax Deduction ?
Kurt, I seriously doubt that. I can’t see you being in a mad mood most ever. The world is full of pricks brother. Once in a while we run into them sad but true.
