Hi Kurt, I have never talked to you before but, I want to tell you that no matter what else you do in your life spend as much time as you can with your mom. My mom died three years ago and I would give anything to be able to talk to her one more time and tell her that I love her and miss her so very much. We just never think we will ever lose our mothers. Thank you for showing your family and letting us get to know them. Tell your mom that I hope she gets better fast and God Bless her.
We like to have a fan running all the time, summer and winter. I used to like to leave a window cracked open but now my husband is convinced someone will break in and carry one of us off. I don’t know about him, but once they got me in bright light, they’d turn around and bring me back! Lol! 😱
Opened a new Caseys in Willmar Mn a few years ago. After about a year the store was getting nasty. A short time later a Kwik trip came in a half mile down the road . 100% improvement. Better food selection, easy assessable gas pumps and spotless inside and rest rooms are always spotless.
I know a guy that did exactly what you're talking about and ut worked great. He pulled an asphalt tanker and we would spend hours on road jobs idling so he came up with that. His generator is a Honda 6,000 watt amd it powers a heater, his roff a/c, his hot plates and crockpot, refrigerator and microwave. The awesome thing about it is it's so quiet.
I mounted a box like that on my pete 2000 watt Honda worked great even had a remote for it good on gas and very quiet and I mounted a old school ac on roof
Kurt, check with Dan because he did something like you are talking about with his trucks. Its a kubota generator in an APU box, runs on diesel. Think he got it in Joplin
drivers side for ease to turn on, besides passenger side is the bathroom. Driving By Braille has a few videos on his generator he uses a Harbor Freight one on his KW. He carry’s a few fuel cans in the side box for his. Whale Tail. Get one from Canuck Industries.
Hey here's a idea Kurt,Call Supertrucker Dan.Thats what he put on his Pete. Was just a generator.Im sure he could give you some ideas tips on what to do and not to do.And where he got his generator.
How are your puppies? The are so beautiful . We had a tea cup toy poodle. His name was Smokey. You could carry him in your purse or a deep pocket. Never a problem. . Keep them fur babies fed good food and lots of water and keep them excersized. They love to be with you
My wife and I will keep your mother in our prayers and thoughts. Ive will pray for a quick recovery. Our parents are both gone and we miss them badly. Be safe out there.
Prayers and good wishes for your Mom and family. Glad you are helping Opie down the steps, instead of him jumping off the 2nd step(that had to hurt!). Where would the AC unit go, so it doesn't breathe in any exhaust?
You should look into mini-splits: a 20-22 SEER inverter 9000 BTU mini-split with heat pump capability would freeze you and Opie out of First Class in minutes, offering efficient cooling and heating. It pulls just 850-1250 watts, significantly less than the 2000-4000 watts of a rooftop RV AC unit, ensuring lower power consumption and reduced fuel costs with a smaller generator. A 6000 BTU mini-split (500-750 watts) would keep you comfortable. Mounting the mini-splits outdoor unit on the back of the cab with fabricated brackets is straightforward, and you can mount the indoor unit on the inside back wall or use a ceiling mini-split version in the sleeper. Most inverter-style mini-split heat pump systems operate quietly and efficiently, providing temperature control in extreme conditions, from cooling in summer to heating in winter down to -20 degrees. While an RV rooftop AC has a sound level of about 75dB (like a vacuum cleaner), a mini-split is about 25-35dB (whisper).
@@rlfedler In this scenario, a small to medium generator is the answer because a semi-truck lacks sufficient space on the cab roof to accommodate enough solar panels to charge 48-volt battery packs. These batteries are essential for powering an inverter capable of running a mini-split system effectively without losing too much power in the transfer. A solar charge controller would also be needed, further complicating the setup.
Great idea, i ran my roof top air con from a cassette petrol generator for my motorhome, 2 us gallons for 8 hours on 26 foot MH, less for your small truck aera.
Hey.. new here. I wish more truckers were like you, I'd have a lot fewer problems with them. One glaring example is years ago I was parked in a rest area at the far northern end of California off of I-5. I was in my 5th wheel. I parked WAY out of the way of everybody else by a tree at the far end of the lot. I awoke around 1 am to find a semi parked RIGHT NEXT TO ME with the reefer unit running full tilt right by my sleeping area. Talk about absolutely no consideration. I ended up packing up and leaving.
I run a generator external under the skirting of my service truck. I try to close it up as tight as possible for the winter but it always gets packed solid with snow. And the slush and salt eat it up and it rots away in 2 years.
For 20 years working mostly nights bedroom window always open with a used 5000 btu air going for the cold and noise so I could sleep. Now I still need noisy fan or AC unit going.
You need a stainless wing up top and put you a window AC in the back wall but the generator thing is a good thing I had a buddy that did the window AC in the back wall of a couple of his trucks but just threw a generator on the catwalk but used it for power tools and a fifth wheel mounted tow bar for when he had to go get one of his trucks when needed worked great though
We have been looking at the mini-splits. Seeing a lot used in cargo trailers, vans, big trucks and homes. There are 12v as well as 110....RVers who have them have said how much more efficient they are than the overhead RV air conditioner. Some are even heat/air models. This is about all I know, as we have been thinking about getting one, but do not have one yet ourselves.
Mr K is going off Truck Grid. wow. I love your Idea K, and I think Opie likes the idea. No more having to stay Home Dad. LOL Yes -15 F with the window Open a little and a fan on the floor to move the hot air around. Yep...the wife loves it also. 👍✌
Hey Schmidt, sounds like a good plan. Do what will make you happy, bro! Love your videos and content. Glad to see you on the road. Give a Big Hug to the German for me! ❤ The truck is looking sweet, APU's are nice to have. My belief is that it will save you money in the long run. Keep it coming and look forward to your next video. God bless you sir! You are blessed my friend! Love the windows open for the cool brease blowing in!
Your ideas for first class sounds great especially the wing on top and those tripacs are ok if the truck isn't running and drive safe out there and see you next time sending prayers to your mom that she gets better 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hope your mom gets to feeling better, I always sleep with a window cracked open in the winter time, that way if you have a exhaust leak you have fresh air coming in and you don't get carbon monoxide poisoning, and helps with other things, like windows don't frost up, summer time it helps with keeping the dew off the windows when it is humid out, like now 😂
Kurt, when are you gonna give First Class a new coat of paint? The chrome around the hood grille could do with a polish too. Love your videos. Cuddles to Opie from Scotland!
Honda makes nice quiet units and they certainly would make one strong enough for what you want to power. Word of advice on the tank. I know the RV transporters have to be diligent on their extra capacity tanks that they are DOT approved for that usage. Their Xtra tanks actually have DOT certification labels approving that usage. There is a shop in Indiana called Dan's Service Center that would have such tanks. Not butting in , but I'd hate to see you put out of service for that reason. Take care, hope your Mom's doing better.
Having a generator running, mounted on the cab would make it nice and cool inside, but too noisy to sleep is my guess. The generator would need to be off of the cab, on the ground when running. Preferably located at least 20 ft from the truck cab.
Prayers for all the family Kurt.I might be wrong but when you said you used to take Troy to Wellington N.C I feel you was thinking about Wilmington N.C.Good luck with your project and I hope it will happen soon for you and Opie.
Sending prayers for your Mother that God’s healing will be upon her Kurt. Sorry for being late but I just seen the video about you telling us that she’s in the hospital. Well wishes for her recovery and God bless enjoying watching your videos BROTHER take care. UA-cam watcher , Jason
Kurt, to let you and the other drivers know the new I 69 interchange is open on the Southside of Indianapolis ! You can go directly from I 455 right onto I 69 South all the way to Evansville without stopping.
Lol I love the setup your talking about I have a similar setup I'd love to meet up sometime and show you it only runs 1.5 gallons on a 10hr rest break but I also watch TV and cook with it so I might use a little more then someone else great idea though
Folks out here in Eureka where there is lots of humidity had constant trouble with their gasoline generator gas lines in their motorhome gelling up to the point they disconnected it. The repair place told them to run it every 2 weeks at least. They claim they did and still had trouble. We here in Redding run our 2 gasoline generators (one in RV other fir emergency fir the house) once a month. Never have any trouble but we have very low humidity. Just thought you should know. Husband said something about what is in the gas affects it too. (Corn?)
They make roof mount heat pumps now. Cools when hot and provides heat when cold. Look into those. Genset will need air flow around it for cooling: a total enclosed cabinet is not a good choice.
Hi Kurt, I see you were picking up again at Red Gold. I was at your home state a few weeks ago visiting some of the truck and tractor museums. I saw your previous video when having to go around Tipton Indiana prior to them posting a drive around. Sorry that Tipton officials jumped the gun with closing 28 through Tipton for truck traffic before a new bypass was actually set. Wanted to tell you but I am sure you post your video long after you have recorded it. Still a very hard turn North on 19 at Dairy Queen in Tipton with a 53 ft trailer. You made a difficult turn with your rig look easy. Hope your Mom is better and have a great day.
With your idea about the air conditioner on top of First Class. They make air conditioners that also have a heat option. There is one in a guard shack where my friend works and he says it does pretty good putting out hot or cold air. Thoughts and prayers that your mom is back home and feeling much better.
I did air conditioning similar to what you describe. I chose a dual fuel inverter (seems like everything is inverter) generator and run it off propane. I carry a 5 gallon gasoline can and can run off gasoline if propane fails. Gasoline does go bad and it is sometimes a pain to get gasoline in a loaded truck. Propane tanks can be exchanged or refilled easily and does not require a custom tank. I have dual tanks so I can exchange the empty and run off the other. I added a 3000 watt inverter and can run my ac off that (and the alternator) on the highway if my truck a/c has problems. I mounted my small already enclosed generator behind the sleeper and haven't had any problems. I have an RV air conditioner with an inverter compressor that starts and runs just fine off the 3000 watts. I had the cover painted to match my truck.
1987 Pete 352 with a 13,500 btu rv air conditioner mounted on top works like a dream . I’ve got a champion duel fuel Genny w remote start . I highly recommend the remote start feature . It will run for 9 hours with the standard tank it comes with ( gas tank ).
I work in movie production (teamster) I m working on stranger things Netflix project. We are at stage most of the time so I’ve got house power to run it 80% of the time .
How yard doing Kurt, God bless you and your loved one's....enjoy every minute with your mom.....my mom left for heaven last July and man do I miss her, take care
Make sure you paint the roof top AC and your new whale tail same color as your trk lol. Got to keep cool factor. See guy more with a kw and that AC unit on their trks now .

Get one of the larger Harbor Freight Predator inverter generators. They are quieter.
Great to see you both back on the road. Give your mom a hug and wish her the best and get well soon.

Mr Kurt U can get sum KW Style boxes from salvage yrd from around $400
Have you considered solar for the roof mounted a/c? I do not know anything about it but I see overlanders use solar all the time.
Prayers for your mom hope she gets well soon
The Honda generators are great, but exceedingly expensive. I have been looking at the 5,000 watt Predator from Harbor Freight.
Split unit a/c & mount it on the frame in front of pogo stick

Prayers and good wishes for your Mom and family. Glad you are helping Opie down the steps, instead of him jumping off the 2nd step(that had to hurt!).
Where would the AC unit go, so it doesn't breathe in any exhaust?
Why not run your AC off deep cycle battery like in a caravan and charge them with the truck alternator with a Battery separator like in my 4 x 4

You can take care of those bad paint spots on your hood by buffing the spots and spraying a clear coat on them.

Kurt, look into a quiet run gasoline generator at Harbor Freight. A lot of RV owners are using them. Your plan sounds great. Be safe out there.
I'll believe it when I see it......I've been waiting for years for you to install the front fender turn signals 😂😂😂
