Those underground places in Missouri are a trip.
I must admit that would have freaked me out delivering in there. That would have been a white knuckle ride for me.
This is the episode I discovered your channel. Guess I've been watching for 9 months now.
Hi Kurt that underground stop was very strange to an Aussie. The way you go out of your way to explain the layout of stuff I do enjoy ty. Take care stay safe 🇦🇺🏺⛽👍⛟😎
Glad to see you get out of there. Just watching made me feel claustrophobic
Mr beep beep has a nice shiny new kenworth ...i like it
Haha that's awesome Dad still gotta take care of his son no matter how old you are! My Great Grandfather raised me and past away back in 2020 but even in my mid to upper 20s he would call my phone and check up on me lol I sure do miss it
The Space Center underground storage In Kansas City has the US National Archives stored there, old movies and films are stored there with documents cause is mostly dry place low humidity naturally. You can find US National Archives towards the entrance. Crazy tornados and stormy weather that time of the year in the Midwest. Glad you keep the rubber on the road and got home safely.
You can definitely tell a big difference with the LED headlights in this cave from your past cave deliveries
What an amazing experience. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Your eyes and head shake at the start cracks me up
Well, Opie looks just fine now that you are back home. Bless his heart.
I. Was ìn those caves in the ĺate 90s it was an eye opener
I been to the caves a few times the first time was nerve racking being that tight to the walls of the thing and those pillars were crazy
I'm glad you and your dad made it home to be with your family. That looked pretty rough. Hi Opie and Jax.
Underground in the caves east of 435 and east 210 highway south of world's of fun. used to drive over the road and delivered to those same caves on a dedicated run.
Well between the caves and the wind....... They at least kept you cooler 😎
That cave that you were in is incredible!!! I never knew that anything like that existed in Kansas City. For a minute I thought that it was an underground salt mine. If I lived there I would want to work in that cave. I would feel safe from tornadoes. That is good that the temp stays at 65 degrees.
Ummmm........OK. Well that was an adventure. Claustrophobia, beep beeps, and tornadoes. Never a dull moment. Safe travels and God bless.
Stay safe you and your family thanks for the ride with you
I never knew anything like this existed. Amazing!!!
The caves are totally wild ....never saw anything like it 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣
OMG that place was tight !!! Some of the other ones I've been to are way better than that got way more room. Thanks for the video
🍭SWEET🍭With all that dust, First Class must have gotten a royal mud bath, yuk! Thank goodness for Blue Beacons! God Bless You🙏🏼
Wow I'd love to be able to go inside those...
Another great video!
Wonder how many miles of underground Missouri has??
Before I retired, I'd been in and out of 3 or 4 caves in kc and one outside of kc. I was told that those caves were created and used by our military for the storage of munitions back around d the years of ww1 and ww2. I'd been told that by many sources so I assume it was true. You run around many of the same places I've been. And love yr Shepard! And yr vids.take care
THAT CAVE YOU JUST DID SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. NEVER WOULD I DO THAT...
i would like to see more of your cave videos if I can 😊,and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen the humidly on a truck leaving a😂cave😂
backup horns are required on jobsites with moving heavy equipment. Every coal hauler across the country has them, I'm a former coalminer and used to them. Love hearing a turbo or jake
Porter greetings! 🇺🇸 A good daddy ALWAYS tries to protect his kids, no matter how old you are!!!! 🥰 That’s Love, Dedication, Respect, Teamwork in the fiercest good sense! 🧐 They’re quick to be on their knees to pray for you, Quick to pick you up, Quick to cover your back & Quick to pick up arms in your defense! That’s A Fact, Kurt! 🧐 That’s how I feel about my family!!! 🥰 Be thankful for what you got & what you are. That underground trip was so radically cool! Be glad that you weren’t in a cabover.😳 I would love to do a delivery or pickup like that at least once! And it wasn’t crowded! Well, on the inside anyway. So the ac went out? Bummer! 😵💫 The backroad out of the underground was pretty cool & scenic. Love those backroads! 🥰 Glad you made it home & that it’s ok now! I’ve missed a couple of your videos since I’ve been getting new tires for my truck, getting it ready for a trip & attending school stuff. We’re getting there. Take care my friend! 🥰🤩✌️
People don't understand the danger that we put ourselves in out on the road. I'm glad you showing that side of trucking
You need some (4) Tie downs on that RV TRLR just insurance for the winds.
I’ve been in the ones at Carthage MO many times.
Triple thumbs up. Cat. Mew.
My comment has nothing to do with trucking in caves (which would have really freaked me out). Yesterday I stopped at my local DG to get milk for my Mom. There was a troubled young man at the counter ahead of me getting some essentials and was 50 cents short. I just happened to have some change and gave it to him. Sometimes all it takes to have a moment is two quarters in your pocket. Kurt, I think this speaks to you previous videos regarding talking to those who have served and guys like us who have not, and feeling pain for the folks in your neighboring area that had the tornado damage. Empathy is a double-edged sword. It's a good quality to have, but at the same time it can really sting. (sorry about the rambling. sometimes this old-timer CAN go on.)
We have truck at work with beeper that sounds like a wounded duck. 12 years and that thing still works! UGH
The USPS has their stamp distribution center in the underground caves in Kansas City. If I remember the addresses in the caves are laid out by Pillars.
Used to do the caves, both in Kansas and Missouri.cant say that I liked them but didn't have any trouble getting in or out but sure was glad when I exited them.be safe and safe travels.get your ac fixed so Opie can go along.miss seeing the furry critter.
wow watching this video and wondering how many truckers said nope not going in there lol arms have to be sore with all that tight turning really enjoyed the video!
No way I could do that my heart rate jumped watching it.
Well there's 8:55 seconds of my life slowly entering that tunnel i will never get back . LOL. Thanks Schmidt. Stay safe. Much respect from CANADA 🇨🇦
Lol I wasn't sure if to cut it down or just leave it
@@truckingwithschmidt7120, glad you left it. Brings back memories of being in the tunnels.
Holy crap im lost in there ....good thing you know where you're going 🤔🤔😆😆😆😆
Yes the person was correct Kurt... The vast majority of what cameout of that old mine was rock for construction projects all around Kansas City... When the big construction boom of late 50's all the way to the mid 80's, A ton of mines was dugout for stone & others for salt... After the mines was used up.. They sat there abandoned... Companies bought them and retrofitted them in late 90's ish? to make them into cold storage bays .... Those old mines will always stay at a constant temperature inside regardless how hot or cold it gets outside....
I'm back to watching your videos
Glad you’re safe
Ford motor company use to store cars down there in the 50s 60s 70s 80s

What is this underground building? Looks like a big bunker, something out of this world!!!!!😂😂😂😂. Is it really a cave? I had no idea these were anywhere.😮😮😮. Thank you for an amazing video. Tornado and all!!!!!
Missing your companion is to be expected! And Omg, I don't know if I could do that underground. Never seen anything like that before!
Amazing as always thanks. God bless you all
Wow that was scary….first time for me seeing something like that😂
i had 2 long days myself, rented a cargo van and drove 1867 miles all within Texas in 38 hours so no UA-cam . come back and only see Opie 8 minutes combined in 2 vlogs duuuude !!!!! LOL . glad everything and everyone is fine tho , those Tornados can be brutal
I was at the pilot/ FlyingJ yesterday by the subtropolis. Went to Tennessee now setting in Fremont Nebraska. Expediting has been busy for me the past few days. Stay safe out there!!
I delivered a few loads down to the caves in southwest Missouri when I was an O/O. A number of them came out of Quicey, MI (Echrich), and one out of Horseheads, NY (cheese). Spooky.
That storm Thursday afternoon in south dakota where im from we had 107 mph winds. It took my 102 year old barn down. Tore off a roof, about collapsed my garage took my swing set tore siding off the house and blew my back door off and filled my whole house full of dirt. Glad u guys r safe. I can post pictures and videos on Facebook if u want
Wow
@@truckingwithschmidt7120 if u want to see pictures i can send to the Facebook page

When I was in those caves the receiver told me they were old gypsum mines.
Do'nt you just love them caves.lol. been in there many a tine.
My dad would have done that exact same thing. God bless Dad. Truck it safe Kurt 😎
never even knew about caves like this till now but this would be a great idea for them to do on the interstates in tornado country to protect all who is driving
One of your most different and especially in videos. This is one of my favorites of yours.
Thats pretty wild driving underground like that...not sure I would like that....are there offices and everything else that would normally be above ground, under there??
Keep your camper anchored down for those, "windy" times???
Those back up beep beeps are mandatory on all trucks here in Pennsylvania big or small ....im totally used to it and like it versus beeping the horn 😆
The geology in Kansas City just lended itself to this," said Mark Martin, property manager at Parkville Commercial Underground.
During the Ice Age, continental glaciers advanced into northeast Kansas and northern Missouri, shaping the bluffs that contained two kinds of limestone: Bethany Falls and Argentine. Being a softer rock, thick limestone beds were heavily mined and provided vital sources of paving and building materials.
And it was relatively inexpensive to dig into from the base of a bluff. Most mining in these parts was horizontal, not vertical, leaving behind vast openings that people and vehicles could enter without descending a deep shaft.
Oh I've been there once before and early January / February I was running dedicated routes for BASF that cave is something else.
No more caves, thanks been there done that no more....
There is an entrance to that place in Springfield Missouri.
Springfield Underground is a TOTALLY different place. They aren't connected!
Kurt you all take Care of yourselves!!
Your dog is cute
We are both glad that you and dad make it home safe. God Bless you all.
Great video once again please be safe out there .
That is awesome you got to go in the cave
Usedto love caverns in Maryland and lurray in Virginia. Now i get claustrophobic
Beep beep again but I'm a beeper too so one day we may running to you and my beep beep would be on lol
use to drive a old frieight liner, no A.C. had a thermometer on the dog house 🏠. 138 on 70 dregree days.
I don't know if you look at your old videos, but Ford housed a ton of ford mavericks down there in the 70's because they weren't selling them fast enough.
Absolutely terrifying.
Delivered and picked up in several of them years ago. Most people never have the opportunity to experience.
Nice Video BEEP BEEP BEEP Take Care
Dust In The Wind…🎼 “All We Are Is Dust In The Wind, Everything Is Dust In The Wind”🎼 by Kansas.
Kansas
hey kurt what did ya pick up in that cave? couldnt see what ya picked up....from ur friends in Buffalo NY
Looks like a West Texas dust storm, welcome back to Iowa!
That beep beep was rude for he did not wait as you back up. He keep the brights on which blinds you. I been to many caves and one Kansas city that rails for trains used for amo during WW2. Had to blindside into the dock and most of the ceiling lights were our. Went to many in Carthage MO and one our drivers was terrified of going in. Took my trailer in and came and took his in. And Indiana a follow guided me in but leaving I got list as there wasn't directions on for the exit. At Carthage I was in a cave when a tornado hit then one time I came out and 4+inches snow. Transported many loads of cheese from Idaho.
I don’t blame your dad, mine would do the same, I think 🤔 most dads would .. HI 👋 FAMILY glad everything is good 😊🐾🦮🐕🦺🐹🐠💦🥵
Happy trucking, smart man for parking it get your ac fixed and the star of the show back I’ll catch you next video Schmidt
That dust storm is called a Haboob. First derechos now haboobs! Only in Iowa. Enjoy the videos! Keep them coming!
Thanks for keeping it real. I received my stickers. Thanks for the nice note!!
truck looking good kurt,
I loaded kansas under ground in my let 20s , NO more for me, I loaded some kind of juice 35000 pounds worth , rock and roll it to Phoenix Arizona ,
Definitely stays cool under there ,
Too bad opie he was not with you 😁 Crazy weather my friend, Couple more weeks and i am back out there 2 months setting home is enough for me , things are not going to change 🤔 That is good you are going to get your AC going. you Definitely need it Kurt
be safe take care yourself KURT
You saw Daddy you got Opie your doing pretty good... lost both of mine 😢
Hope you all are well. That was some wind! Glad to hear you are getting the a/c fixed cause it sure will make Opie happier, and you as well, lol.
Wow. you take care.. stay safe too you and the family..
2 things
1. 9:33 no lock? no seal? **edit** nevermind (facepalm) you were empty.
2. I always wanted to deliver to the underground warehouses but never got a chance. :(
For driving in the underground and strong winds A+. Good parents will be parents until the end. You know that just because. It's good to be prepared for Mother Nature because she's unpredictable. To you and yours and neighborhoods 🙏 🚛
I was trucking when those storms occurred I wasn’t storm chasing but I had a friend that got some good footage south of Sioux City
The backup beeper is for safety as well as the train horn at crossings... kurt, remember always safety frist !!!!!
Content suggestion: can you do a segment on trailer door seals?
What are their purpose? Why do you use them sometimes and not others? If they are a requirement from the shipper, then why don’t they seal your doors and put them on? Why would they have you put them on instead? Are they meant to prevent theft? What’s to prevent a driver who’s not honest from stealing something and then putting on the seal afterward?
Thanks so much for the great videos you produce. Best wishes to you and your family.
The purpose of a door seal is NOT for security.. It is there to identify that the load inside matches what the seal says it is.. AKA When the trailer is loaded it has a log made at the shipper with all the info, What it is, weight, shipped from location number, shipment arrival area number etc.. Then its printed onto the BOL & given a number... The number is stamped And/Or printed onto a door seal..... The paperwork AKA BOL & the seal MUST match for each load to be accepted at the receiving end.... Its a identification system mainly and NOT for security since you can easily break or cut them off to steal... Some companies require that the driver does NOT touch the seal at all, some dont care who puts it on.... It will not protect it from an unhonest driver from stealing.... Almost all of the shippers now require a visual check to make sure its there before the load leaves their property
Thank you so much, great information.
They did that down by Springfield MO to my sister work in caves down they have restaurants in the caves down there and business of all kinds
The The underground tunnel is insane! Can you say claustrophobia?
G’day Kurt well that’s something you don’t see everyday It’s a bit like the mines down here on the west coast of Tasmania. Good idea if a tornado comes or the bomb goes off. Regards John
Oh I know where your at. It one of many underground warehouses in and around Kansas City Kansas and Missouri
435/23rd boarder of independence and kc
Where did you get the nice whirlygig in your yard?
glad you and family are okay. Millenial Farmer in Minnesota got hit pretty good with a tornado.
