My dad is 87 and on palliative care. I loved this song growing up . My dad was unusual for his time . Adored playing with me and my sister and worshipped my mum and a devout Christian. Thank you daddy
You sound lovely too! Likely the result of having a loving family, and a cool dad. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and family. You are indeed lucky to have them.
I’m not the greatest fan of this group, though the last line of the song really did give it a great ending and was very clever. Suddenly the listener realises that it’s not a song about sexual love but rather one of paternal love, by a man expressing admiration for his daughter. Even the hardest of men would regard his little girl as his princess; no wonder it won the Eurovision of 1976 with a record score. It played to a family theme that people from any country could get behind and feel a connection to - and with an Abba-esque style vibe, which was hugely popular at the time.
RIP Martin Lee. Haven't heard of this group and their songs in years. I remember they used to be on Top of the Pops regularly in the late '70s, and to some degree they reminded me of Abba.
Sad news that lead singer Martin Lee (seen here second right) has died at the age of 77. Lovely childhood memories seeing BHOM perform this and many other of their great songs on Top Of The Pops during the 70s. RIP Martin.
You are always with her, she is in you, she created you, and she is always with you in spirit and you can listen to this and feel her presence even more,, ❤️👌
My 17-year-old self wrote down the lyrics to this song in my notes so that I could listen to it again, most likely having heard it somewhere and having taken a liking to it. I never listened to it again until now, 4 years later and my heart is full with happiness. I'm sending my love to anyone coming back to this song. Happy almost new years, I hope your 2023 is filled with blessings and happiness. You deserve it ❤
This might just be a song to many other people, but when I was little, my dad used to sing this and it always made me cry, so then he’d give me a hug and say “Don’t worry, daddy’s not going anywhere” and it’d get me to stop crying. 4 years ago when I was 12 we sadly lost him to cancer. This song means even more to me now. It still makes me cry. I wish my dad could still be here to hug me and tell me that he’s not going anywhere, but he did have to go. Love you dad, I’ll never forget you 💜

Strewth! That hit me like a bolt of lightning. I’m not in the greatest of health. And although we’re separated, I still have an otherwise good relationship with my ex and a great one with my son and daughter. It’s like I got a second chance that you probably deserve more than I do from the sound of things. Oddly enough, we have talked about spiritual things - as much as you can except a young girl to understand anyway. She understands that I believe in the resurrection, and that if the worst were to happen, we can still see each other again one day. My son is a few years older- in his mid teens and he has a little bit more of a firmer grasp on that. I just wish I hadn’t wasted so many years before but then again, my dad was never really there for me, even when he was and I didn’t resolve many things until much later in life as I didn’t have the understanding. But I am learning; I’m making every second count with the kids and me and their mother treat each other with respect - for their sakes as well as our own. We’ve both had to learn to forgive … we don’t want to leave any bitter regrets hanging over them that might damage them. Even though, thanks for giving me a timely reminder - I sincerely hope you see your parents again in the regeneration.
I lost my dad to cancer when I was 12, but he used to sing this to me when I was little. Every time I come here I start sobbing, but at least it brings back memories of him
