This lady was a really beautiful woman inside and out. She had the voice of an angel. It is really sad that she is no longer around. I think that her memory will live on forever
I think the word bayou is one of the easier terms. Thibodeaux and Fonteneaux are two common Cajun names. Pirogue is a small two man boat, like a canoe, or rowboat, but often in shallow water it is rowed with oars barely in the water or pushed along with a pole. Jambalaya is a spicy rice casserole usually with chicken, sausage, or shrimp. Crawfish are like small lobsters that live in shallow water and areas that flood often, like a ditch or low lying area in a field near a coast. They are also called crawdads and mudbugs. Filet gumbo is a stew made with things like shrimp, crawfish, sausage, onions, celery, and okra and usually mixed with rice. My cher amio is a slightly incorrect translation of French for a girlfriend. So the song was written decades even before Karen sang it with a mix of Cajun names, terms, and a French term from a land so far and isolated from the French that it makes translation from modern languages difficult.

That's a voice that only comes around once in a thousand years... I'm so glad I got to hear her - even when I was young I knew she was really something...
Take notes Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and I’d include Ariana Grande but I don’t even consider what she does as acrobatic. It’s just... unintelligible high-pitched sound.
Still listening to her...fell in love with her since i was 10,and now that im 21,still do...she's the only one singer that removes all stress in your body when listening to her voice...her voice can heal the world...love you forever My Lady Karen.
When she played back this footage, all she saw was how huge she'd gotten in hips especially. Truth: It showed & the outfits they chose for her didn't help 1 iota 😳. Karen was at her heaviest here, gaining approx 35+ lbs since the Touring demands interfered with her eating habits. She absolutely felt it & after this, starting her strict dieting regime.
She was not only an amazing vocalist, she could absolutely KILL on the drums. Im not kidding.she was GREAT. Absolutely amazing. It makes me so sad that she went so young and people from my generation didn't get to know her from being around while we were growing up. She sang so effortlessly I am sure had she not had to battle the demons that she did, she would most assuredly have come to be one of those staple musicians that you just assume will always be around and hear of again and again every so many years for a new song or album they have coming out, and being excited to hear it, and thinking how lucky you are that they are still around to do so. . Even not being on this earth now, she kind of is anyway. Because here I am, still thinking of and listening to her. I would have loved for her to have stuck around way WAY longer than she had, and heard what other hits her and her brother would have almost certainly created, like they always had. They had so much more music in them to make. As her brother said about her early passing " Shoot, we were just getting warmed up". 😥😭My heart ...thats one of the saddest things ive ever heard. 💔 Wherever you are now Karen, thank you for making our world sound as amazing as it did by just you being here. This is not a song that I would have expected The Carpenters to cover, but Karen knocks it out of the park. Absolutely amazing. One of the best, if not the best version of this song.
True, it's quite different from Hank Williams's original country classic hit; but equally great if I do say so myself. I kind of miss the fiddle that Hank's original included but at least the Carpenters included steel guitar in their version and that helped preserve some of the song's country origins & flavour.
She could have been successful in doing crossovers from pop to country. A very talented woman and very beautiful. It's a shame she didn't see herself as a beautiful woman.
