It’s okay if you like splatter patter death disks, but that was done to death in the late 50s and early 60s; Tell Laura I Love her - Ricky Valance Johnny Remember Me - John Leyton Leader of the Pack - Shangri La’s El Paso (In my opinion, the best one) - Marty Robbins Ebony Eyes - The Everly’s Running Bear - Johnny Preston Teen Angel - Mark Dinning Don’t Take your Guns to Town - Johnny Cash Dead Man’s Curve - Jan and Dean Ode to Billie Joe (Another very good one) - Bobby Gentry Heck, that’s just a few of them … they were ten a penny at one time, though to be fair, many of them were quite poignant and tragic young love is almost guaranteed to tear at the heart strings. Nevertheless, this one is quite naughty in that it’s cynical in its reworking of what was then a recent ABBA hit (that was given a more Romeo and Juliet sounding plot as a thin disguise; and even then, Blue Oyster Cult had done the R & J thing far more credibly, again only fairly recently in a far more eerie and decidedly non sugary fashion with Don’t Fear the Reaper). Even the song that it brazenly rips off - Fernando - was a death disc in it’s original version on Anni-Frid’s solo album, a year before it was re-recorded by all the members of ABBA. But by then it became two old revolutionaries reminiscing, instead of dying. I don’t want to take your enjoyment. But it’s definitely not a classic. Although I’m a rock man, I can give ABBA a lot of love for creating some great melodious harmonies, in multiple languages sometimes!, but this is derivative and definitely not a world beater. In fact, in the early 70s, they spent all their time copying Dawn until post Waterloo, someone changed the lineup so drastically that they were the same band in name only but they were now aping ABBA’s style; what with it guaranteeing the people behind the group a lottery winners style jackpot to shoot for if successful.

That same sort of ABBA vibe that worked in 1974, worked again in 1976 for TBoM to win the Eurovision Song Contest, and then after this and Figaro etc. A definite ABBA formula at work here and with a Euro take on the emerging American disco theme. Just my opinion, I might be wrong.
