The Kelly kettle scout is this the ultimate bushcraft wild camping cook system. Is the Kelly kettle an essential addition to outdoor living?
On this video we head of to the a beautiful woodland to try using our new kelly kettle for the first time. After making a brew using the kettle it's self we do a bit of bushcraft cooking using the hobo stove part of the kelly kettle scout.

I have the trekker model, the trekker is a one person model, well worth the money if you get one, a three in one system, a kettle, rocket stove and hobo stove.

Thats what we are here for to help each other , by the way don't often see the family aspect of outdoor activities gr8 that you include the other half , nothing like the nature shared with the family I have been taking my wife kids and grand kids on many outdoor bushcraft adventures , they love it and it also keeps them mentally stable and solid people who enjoy the beauty of the world, rather than glued and addicted to their smart phones etc. hope to see additions to your family in future videos, oh and thanks for the super recipes

The food was really nice and well needed, especially after the trip in. Those pans are great and that one is much cheaper than the ridge monkey. Time will tell if it's as good. Great bit of kit, i recently got the trekker model for solo hikes. Even with the smaller version the cooking ability is awesome. Good video, love the dog, reminded me of my old cocker spaniel Percy

@@davidcole2899 I can't tell you exact measurements off the top of my head but it's about half the size of the Scout. You could fasten it to the outside of your pack easily enough if necessary to save space
@@360OutdoorAdventures they're such an intelligent and gentle breed, Percy was a natural ham, he liked doing things to make people laugh. He was a bit of a Houdini also lol if he wanted out he would find a way lol
I've had my Kelly Kettle Scout model for a while now. It goes with me, any time I'm traveling in remote areas, camping, as well as during the winter. I keep a supply of pinecones, tinder and small twigs in a zip bag, so they stay dry. I also carry cotton balls that have been dipped in petroleum jelly (vaseline). I have a magnesium stick with ferro rod, and always carry a Zippo lighter with me (even though I don't smoke).

Add a gallon jug of water (the Scout holds 41 ounces = 1213 ml), some instant mix foods, and everyone's absolutely necessity (a roll of toilet paper, which can also serve as a fire starter), and I'm ready for a weekend adventure.

One trick I like is to cook ramen noodles. Broken up a bit, they fit fine in the small pot that comes with the kettle. Add the spices, and fill the pot with boiling water until it just covers the noodles. Let them sit for 4-5 minutes until they are softened. At this point, they can be eaten while still hot, but not so hot it burns your mouth. If you get another pot of similar size, you can make two of these at the same time.

Here's a great ramen noodle breakfast recipe: mix some eggs (like you would for scrambled eggs) and take some precooked bacon that's been chopped. Add some green onions (scallions) or chopped chives. Put that on top of your ramen noodles and then pour the water over them to cook everything. The scrambled eggs will mix and it's a lot like egg drop soup with extras. 😁
They are a really great practical bit of kit. I'm so happy with mine, thank you for the tips and advice those are great ideas. Im looking forward to trying them out. I bought some hardwood kindling and keep that in a dry bag. More so with how wet everything and everywhere has been. Thanks once again its much appreciated

Remember that the kettle should be almost full when on the heat. The fire will start easier with the kettle on the fire pot. The jet effect pulls the air in.

Great video but I noticed you filled up the kelly k just enough for both of you , I was in touch with kelly as I have the biggest model , the base camp and i dont always need all the water , I was told that if you do not fill kettle to the top every time you boil it can seriously damage the kettle

Hi, how do you find the plates and cups, I’m looking to purchase these for when the family is out bushwhacking 😂 but they’re expensive. I don’t mind the size and weight as long as they’re solid. I prefer stainless steel and these look ok but without having used them I’m not so sure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers mate
Happy to help if I can, this set came as a package and cost me £100. It's a great bit of kit, I really enjoy using it. Go outdoors has some great stainless steel mugs for around £5 each. They are great value for money. Other than the plates that come with this set we have some white enamel ones. They are great too, made by a company called Falcon. We have mugs to match also. If it's stainless steel your looking for I found these ones online. I hope this helps you out. I will say I would recommend the enamel ones we bought ours from the shop Boyes, very reasonable prices.

By the way, tortillas should be cooked. You ate a wrap in a raw tortilla. It's not dangerous or anything, just tastes way better that way. Just a pan in a little bit of oil until they just barely start to smoke, then flip and repeat.

Yeah I think it's going to be a nice bit of kit to have in his memory, we plan to scatter his ashes a a beauty spot we used to visit as children with my brother and sister. I'm thinking of taking the KK with us and make and enjoy a brew and raise our cups to him. I'm sure my dad will would be well impressed with the KK too.
