Dane thank you very much for showcasing my son's project it is a 1950 GMC 300
Oh darn it sorry but you’re welcome. 🤷🏼♂️
I think we're all with you when you get the heebie-jeebies of trying to clean that stuff out!
Ya, I’m praying there’s no more dead animal surprises. 😩
Amazing how easily those roof lights came off!!
I guess the animal remains might be an improvement on what could be in Cadillac trunks on the other channel. Especially cars from Jersey :-)
Lol…. You’re soooo right 😂
Always informative! Worked in a Freightliner Dealership 1977-1980. The Good Old Days!
Thanks and yes indeed they were! :)
Great episode Dane, glad to see all the progress on Grasshopper.
Ahhhhhh yes, the joys of digging through old animal nests! Also, I can't believe the brown bottle in the fuel tank was not shattered! Great Progress on Grasshopper! There is a lot to go but you truly are cooking along!
Thanks Nick, I’m sure you’ve had the joy of it as well lol. 😬👍
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE a little too much lol. I have had my fill for the decade!
Dane you are doing a fantastic job keeping that old iron up and running
Thanks Bryan 😬
So glad I found this channel. The knowledge, the stories and the humor. Great stuff Dane!
Thank you so much Buckeye 😬👍
Sweet old school Petes and K Whoppers!!
Great video again! I drove a lot of the old cabovers in the 89's. The oldest truck I drove was a '66 Mack dump twin stick
Thanks Scott, and thank you for your service… both to the country and as a driver.👍
I can understand the Heebie Jeebies... Nice job getting the cab cleaned out!!
I know right? 😩
My dad had a 67. He bought it around 1977 hit at a 318 on it. 13 speed with 444 giray. Show a torsian bar like yours. He reminds me of it. I really liked that truck and wrote in it a lot. Sorry for misspelling, I talk text.
I love your contents and the old trucks keep up the good work
Thank you for watching Chuck, what a great childhood memory and experience with your Dad in one of these. 😬👍
That's a nice K100E you drove past !
Yes it is, He always has cool KWs.
O-H-I-O Porters🇺🇸 Being out in the woods, the critters would take their meal back to the bunk & go hog wild. I imagine the bunk had a wild odor for sure! I’ve been in a few old trucks that had been a shelter for wild critters & it’s breathtaking! I think installing an overhead console would be so cool in that truck! Is the dash a copper color? It’s a nice color for the dash & console. I would suggest using vinegar in a spray bottle & let it soak overnight. I do that myself in my old trucks & it seems to do a bang up job! I love the old door handles on this truck. Do they both have key locks built in? I can really picture this truck being so, so cool! The body & paint work tends to be quite time consuming. I was shocked that your clearance came loose so easily. Are they a different size than the newer ones? They look quite pitted, but keep them in case you can use any parts from them. You never know. I know you can’t keep all the little parts like that. I think using new, LED lights will make it even nicer though. You gotta have vision on these old trucks! Is this truck more needy than any other of your projects? Those newer heat shields will make a big difference as well. Mr. Parker came through for ya there! I’m so thrilled that you found this old rig! Blessings my friend! 🥰🤩✌️
Sweet K100!!
Dane I really enjoyed the video I am getting excited to see what all you do with grasshopper
Thanks Louis and for watching 😬👍
Cool old Jimmy!!
Your videos all have high levels of re-watchability. Well done Dane.
Thanks Terry and for watching 😬👍
Truck looking pretty good. 😊
Grasshopper is coming along nicely.
Hellow Dane good to see you an grass hope again
Hey Tommy 👍
Great video. Grasshopper is making great progress.
Every day a little closer to that first drive. 😬👍
Great Guitar tone . I enjoy your videos and knowing you a guitar player also.
Thanks Robert 😊
Grasshopper is coming along nicely!!
Dane great job kw looks good👍
Thank you Dom 😊
I've been kind of having the winter blahs, this video helped lift me out, with the exception of those bones in the sleeper, but no problems, I wasn't eating at the time...
I’m glad to be of service lol😬👍
lookin good
Thanks Buddy, how was MATS?
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE was a great time met some great people
@@JamesPretty I may plan to join yas next year for a “UA-camr assault” lol. Be safe going back to work. White KW lookin killer 👍
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE would be cool to hang out. Thx bro
That bucket is looking real good 👍😊
Smart move Dane wearing a mask in an old sleeper cab. Mould, dust.
Trust me even that wasn’t enough to make me feel any better lol.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE Thanks Dane . You don't have to respond to all my comments. ""Ol grassy"" is coming along fine. I love the green paint job and a 318 as well. I'm in heaven.
Man I really like that aqua color under the black paint - especially with white stripes. Makes me think of a Navajo truck - those look killer pulling a nice stainless trailer! At least it sure looks like the aqua is under the black to me... It's almost like the were going for a Movin' On theme with those greens.
I believe the Green GMC is a 1950 or so - must've been a typo. Beautiful trucks especially with the chrome grill!
I'm surprised none of those '60s KWs had a painted front bumper with the angled 'candy-cane' stripes. That scheme might look good on Grasshopper, but it might be too much too. Perhaps more appropriate on a solid-color, no stripes, cab...
I’m pretty sure the aqua is the fiberglass “primer”. It’s only in the that fiberglass partial roof piece and windshield surround. And I love those painted bumpers too! 😬👍
nice work shop love the vids👍
Thanks Dog 😬👍
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching
Thanks Dane for another awesome video me and my husband Dan are excited to see grasshopper when he is done have a nice day your friend's from Minnesota 😊
Thanks Shelly, hope you guys are keeping warm up there 😬👍
Dane I don’t know if you know this but those horns can be fine tuned by holding the neck and unscrewing the back and stewing it to and fro till you get the pitch you want 😉
No I didn’t 😮 Thank you! 😊👍
You can use Spray 9 for disinfectant it will clean really well and is not to strong of a smell
Thank you! 👍
Lol maybe next time a big scoop shovel might work
Really enjoyed the contact the facial expressions is out standing. Really enjoyed stay safe
I don’t know why I don’t think of these things …. Duh 🙄. That woulda sped things up but then again I would have needed someone holding the bag. At any rate SO GLAD ITS IVER lol.
Man oh man Dane you have the patience and drive and do a great job restoring things, I would love to be like that but it is just not in me.
We’ll sit back and grab another cup of Java and let me do the work. Lol …thanks for watching
Hey Dane I would kill to have those lights for my 49 chevy cabover. I just got a 453 for it too
Which lights are you referring to?
Hey driver! What a nasty job cleaning out truck but it's gonna be worth it in the long run!! ...can't wait to see her all done!! 10-4 driver im gone
10-4 Driva, next time I’ll pay somebody to do it lol. 3s on ya wegone.🤪
I know what it's like, I cleaned an old car out, luckily everything I found was dead, but I was scared to death ☠ but the car turn out awesome it was a 1966 delta 88 four door.
Sweet old boat! The only car I’ve driven with 455 that actually scared me lol. 😮😬👍
In looking at pictures of mid-1960's KW's, those cab marker lights you removed appear to be the originals, right down to the bullet (watermelon these days) style lenses. Don't know for sure, but I'd wager those old lights, still being in good condition, might worth something to someone doing a concours restoration.
Body work is a labor of love and the more love you lavish on Grasshopper, the better the paint will look.
Thanks for pointing that out…I’ll definitely hold on to them. If I wasn’t under a deadline I could take my time and make sure it was perfect. Unfortunately I gotta keep up the pace enough to gitr done by June 1.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE Definitely hang onto them, maybe later you will want to rechrome them and reuse them.
As the former owner and driver of that truck I met my ex-wife to be in that truck trucking was a lot of fun back then until J Carter took over 23:47
Wow! Thats a cool tid bit of the history of it. Thanks for all your help Robert, I’m sure we’ll be talkin some more. Thanks for watching too! 😬👍
Found some real interesting stuff in the fuel tank. Don't think I want to know what you removed from the sleeper.
I’ve concluded it was a raccoon 🥴
Looked like a cat. It had canines . Might have been a raccoon. It's old, older. Can't believe those lights came off that easy. Sometimes we clean out our air horns even now in modern life! If you don't have caps on your horns bugs and dirt pack up in them. I'm watching a old truck being reborn! Enjoy the treasure hunting in grasshopper and??? Black he'd be "" cricket ""! Prayers and safe travels and God bless you and the family
Thank you… hmmmm a cat? Could be…. And black “Cricket” I like that 🤔. Definitely will have the chrome caps on them.
47 to 53 GMC
Cracker Box daddy I new you could do it I bet you had both doors open just in case you had to bail out lol
Lol you’re right about that my friend lol! Hope your feeling better. 😬👍
That has to be the worst part of restoring old trucks is the clean up of the critters.
Totally!!!!! 🤮
I would like to meet you and see your shop sometime.
Yes sir, anytime you’re passing through just hollar.
Those old style horns can be tuned, it's a dirty job but someone has to do it. ( LOL ). When you get done Grasshopper is going to be one AWESOME truck👍👍👍👍
Thanks Russell, how do they tune em? Different “reeds”?
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE No just make them longer or shorter
Dane could there be any possibility that that appears to be black paint on top of the cab could it be some kind of a black primer
I don’t think so as there is red oxide under it. 🤷🏼♂️
Are you painting grasshopper with spray cans or a gun?
With cans in sections to keep overspray down.
It's probably because of those stainless screws
Could be, whatever the reason...I'm a happy camper lol.
@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE I agree 100%, It's nice when things go smooth.
Just spritz it down with vinegar and let it sit then follow up with some 409. Bleach is to much for that confined space.
Gotchya buddy, I will. Thanks 😬
Must be a southern truck
Yes sir North Carolina
Bones lol ... its far mor exciting when it live with gnashing teeth
😱😱😱
What ever happened to your cabover Peterbilt
I sold it June 2022. Went to West Virginia
I think the previous owner knocked off his ex-wife and left some bones behind. Don't worry about it!!
She musta been a small gal 😂😂😂
Dane you are making progress on grass hopper
Ima tryin 😬👍
