Time for the spring auction, which is usually the largest and this time out there are literally hundreds and hundreds of cool semi-trucks for sale so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go window shopping ad see what’s for sale. Lots of cool iron including old Kenworths, Peterbilt’s, Freight-shakers, Internationals and all kinds of plastic. Tried my best to cover as much as I could keeping the video to a somewhat reasonable length, included the sell price on auction day in Canadian pesos and even shared a little easter egg from when TwinSticks was a just a wee lad - enjoy!
If you enjoy these videos and like classic trucks, I encourage you to check out and join the American Truck Historical Society: www.aths.org/
Thanks for watching and as always, I appreciate all the comments, suggestions, and support!

Hey Mark. Looooove the rigs you show us. I had a thought and I just have to ask. I you wanted to do a truck from the 78 film "CONVOY",which truck would you like to try and build?
😊 SA@@ryanpoulin5144
Everytime he does the on the hunt episodes, I am just waiting for him to buy something. Lol I love the on the hunt episodes.
He's a hobbiest just looking
@@Southalabamaoutdoors may prove you wrong one day Scott 😂
@@TwinStix you need to come shopping in the states ...I've found an emoryville and a few marmons plus a few superliners!!!
You'd love it
It'll never happen. If, or should I say when, Mark buys something it won't be from auction. It'll be some under the table deal from some backwoods farmer lined up by some mad fan
@@1one3_Racing wanna bet 😏
The auction videos are my favourite! Keep 'em coming!
That old Pete that shut down, 37:10 was made to not idle more than a few minutes. You can override them by going to the cruise control, turning it on, and either placing your foot on the fuel pedal and bringing it up to the RPM you want and hit the SET on the cruise. Or Turn on the cruise and hit the SET only and she may idle up and that willl keep the tractor going.
I’m betting it was low of antifreeze. Ask me how I know. I’ve had it happen before
That 855 in the cab over binder was painted the correct color for the truck. IH painted all engines IH red, didn’t matter if it was Cat, Cummins, or Detroit. Up until 84 I believe they were painted red at the factory.
????? I thought Cummins was sand brown that’s what color mine was in a 9670 and a 4070 b
On the hunt videos are my favourite)))
Hey buddy, the 855 in that international 9600 IS the right color. Back in the early days International painted every engine red. Didn't matter Cat, Cummins, it got painted red from the factory.
For an oilfield rig, an auto makes sense. Slogging thru heavy mud is a good way to burn out a clutch, autos make more sense off-road.
Love the old freight shaker. That would be a great addition to the fleet. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there. And remember if you got it a trucker brought it.
I started doing heavy haul 35+ years ago ! Mostly off highway in south west Alberta . Started with 5x4, 6 x4, 9x 4, 13X4, 18 x2 ! Recently bought a truck with an Allison with a 2spd aux and by far is the best set up I have ever had for heavy off-road use ! So easy on drive line and and diffs ! And live hydraulics for winch work because it runs off the torque converter. And for slippery conditions it’s amazing ! It does take a lot of driver input to make it work properly though ! Just my humble opinion!
Thanks for your videos
Mark, for you general fund of knowledge: Cummins between 1946 and 1960 painted there engines Black, dark gray or yellow. Yellow for the Cummins in Macks. Tan and Red started in 1962. 1977 Transtar brand new had a red 290 cummins. Also CAT engines in Peterbilts were painted white in the 1970's. That engine in the 9370 cabover IH has the correct color paint. When the Cummins NTC 444 came out Cummins painted it black. Not to be confused with the KT's 450 and 600 which were tan. Staying with Pete and white CAT Engines, Pete eventual quit painting the CAT Motors white because CAT was painting all of there Marine spec motors white. To add insult to injury, Detroit painted many of the Silver 92's, the D-DEC motors yellow.
A 9370 international is a conventional hood truck with the stacked headlights. The C/O is more than likely a 9600 or 9670
There wouldn't be enough time to check out all of the trucks I spotted. Great Video.
Who doesn’t like these? I LIVE for the on the hunt episodes!
So many. I’ve good work trucks!! I need to visit
On the hunt videos are my favourite 👍
"too many dreamers killing the batteries...let's start this truck to watch the cab air bags!!!" hahaha
Yea Mark, Some Company Trucks Have Timer Idle Shut Offs After Long Idle!! They Claim it Saves $$ on Diesel ⛽️ Expense! 🤠🤔
Just heard your comment at about the 7min mark. Been meaning to make this comment for a while but the "On the Hunt" episodes can be some of my favorite. So keep making them as well as all your other great content. I don't mind the variety of your channel and I think it is a good benefit to have this type of variety.
Mark you have to buy an old mack one day
don't think the love is there for old macks, have seen him walk past quite a few. my favourite trucks but theyre an aquired taste, not the " prettiest "
I think you should have taken that water tank truck home.🤣 Thanks for the walk.
Hellow hope you an family are doing great buddy
You should go back on the road for about a year and see how much you truly love trucking.... LOL
It’s not what it used to be that’s for sure…
@@TwinStix I use to support your channel and tell people about it, but lately you have this arrogance about you that I can't won't support any longer. Unsubed. Your ( free) videos have gotten boring, sanding, stripping. You want everyone to do your patreon instead..I won't be one of them..
Go out for 2 weeks at a time in a flat top. I have huge respect for the guys that do it. I drove a 95 flat top t800 with a 425hp cat I'm 6'2 it was cool for about 6 months.
Yep The Convoy & Smokey & The Bandit Days Are All Long Gone & Forgotten!! Just FUN Memories Now!!☃️⛄️
Cat engine start right up and have that certain sounds so good
The reason why that truck only had chrome buttons in certain spots is probably because those are the only buttons that the coating fell off of revealing the metal under the coating.
The front air ride on the 389 is probably factory since it became a factory option on later 389 trucks.
Factory air ride on the front axle from the factory? Didn't realize that was an option ... nice work PACCAR!
Love these trucks, amazed at so msny autos but Im old school as learned on a twin stick
I was a truck mechanic in the 80s, Cummins engines that were put in International trucks were always painted Red, it was done at the factory so that engine in the Cab over came red and it's correct!
i used to love seeing trucks like this do rig pullouts in northern Alberta... some of the stuff they went through that i was winched through in a welding truck was absurd.... but when they needed winching wow...thank god for company vehicles,,,,
The Red Cummins engine in the corn binder or old Transtar is what they did in all international trucks even there gas engines are red . I’m a retired driver myself since I was 11 years old l drove trucks my dad had a construction company but when I left the family business in 1974 to 2017 I worked hauling concrete products 15 years till they closed and I then worked for Trimac as a fuel hauler. I just do a little bit of part time work now that’s all for now

Ohhhhhh yeahhhh wooooooo 🤙...good morning Twinsticks garage family 💙✝️🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸✝️💙..saved this one for my weekend treat . And oh what a treat...
What’s really cool about the bed trucks is the hidden 5th wheel hit a button and a 5th wheel comes out from under its cover really cool
Most likely, that driveshaft section probably has 1710 yokes which are just a little lighter rated than the rest. One of the builders I worked at used the lighter rated yokes so something easy to fix would break before an axle or something much more epensive or complex to repair. Kind of like a fusible link in an electrical system.
the two things I like see on your channel is you working on your trucks and on the hunt episodes.
Seeing the rigs with floaters on them has me imagining the calamity ol Peg would get in to if he had one 😂
Epic !!!
In the states we have a lot of problems with ‘dreamers’ too. They’re constantly pouring over the southern border.
That would be High Ballin you stumped me on last weeks though 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Freeway Maniac
Hi mark ….
The Pete that cut out probably has a 10second cut out , my boss had them on his c13’s , the idea being you have to idle it upto 1000rpm if your having it running overnight , apparently it stops bore wash over long low idle periods
The recreational trucker will always hate autos. The purest driver will always hate autos. The young, inexperienced and cost efficient people will alwas find a place for autos. You are one of the 3, pure and simple
Chauffeur license since 78 will always be manual
Will never understand guys who sit and fantasize about transmissions
Good show, Mark. I agree about no automatics, no plastic trucks, and I add no one-piece windshield trucks. By the way, that black International cabover, I drove the same model for a local fruit hauler around 1980, or so. It was pretty well a fairly new truck. One day, I was driving through Salt Lake City, and there was a little bump in the ashphalt on the interstate, and the whole truck quit running. I managed to use the momentum to steer it up an off-ramp and into a truck stop. I checked everything, and could not understand why there was no power at all on the truck. So I got a mechanic, and he spent a couple of hours going through the electrical. Finally he found it. Somewhere, on the right side, close to the passenger seat, under the dashboard, there was one electrical connector which had come loose, and it killed the power on the whole truck. Shut it down cold. Quite a design flaw, in my opinion. The mechanic could not believe that they built such a micky mouse setup. Imagine if that had happened on some steep downhill.
Mark likes "looking at" trucks. The guys that live in them 300 days a year like comfortable trucks!
I’d still run a flat top 😂
@@TwinStix not when your my age and overweight! Even dragging the tucker boxes out from under the bed is a pain in the arse. When you get out of a Western Star with 63" bunk and cabinets with a wide bed and high roof and into a low roof Kenworth with their narrow bed and little holes everywhere to stow your shit you miss what you had!
If you want an adventure Mark, make the leap to an old 2 stroke Detroit. It might be frustrating (at first) but it will be fun and adds a whole new dimension to shifting either a 13 speed or a twin stick.
I love the on the hunt episodes!!! Don't ever quit!!
I am OTR here in the states. I do drive an automatic but when I took my CDL test I tested in a manual. I wish my truck was a manual but I work for a damn Mega. When I go to a smaller company. Yes I’ll get into a manual. That’s the plan anyway.
Am I the only one here sat watching this video and upon seeing the International COE, immediately think the original Terminator and even the wrecker in T2? Enjoy watching these videos and wishing I had the funds to purchase and transport a classic truck to the UK.
Hi, you've ever driven a European modern truck like Scania or Mercedes? If you do, you will never go back to a manual shifted US Truck. It makes it much more easier to drive a truck. Greets from Germany.
Love bed trucks; they are insane
I can't believe how cheap those were almost million dollar trucks when new
I'm with you on manual trans most of the time, but I have to say that in the mud, an auto box has benefits for towing. I can see why those big-tyre monsters might have gone for auto
Mark, I'm in love with the Classic. It's a money maker over here in the states. Awesome.
I am an old Skool driver and drove manual boxes for 40 years but here in uk everything as gone auto but getting used to one now lol
I've got a Green APU on my HX, it''s a great unit. Easy to maintenance, plenty reliable and is self contained with the power unit outside and hvac equipment in the bunk under the bed. No ugly condenser hanging on the back of the bunk. The only downside is that they are louder outside than other units
The 'On The Hunt' are my favorite by far!!!
"Why would it just die like that?" Maybe the reason it's at the auction? More likely it has an idle timer.😉
Pretty short timer 🤔
@@TwinStix adjustable in the engine ECM parameters. setting the cruise to high idle will cancel it out. can also disable it in the ECM, too.
The red on the Cummins in that IH cab over is period correct.
IH had them painted that way at the factory, just like their gassers.
I’ve seen a few red Detroits in Fleetstars as well.
A lot of TRI drives !!!...lovin' it
what are you the
TRUCK POLICE
😂. Cheers from Manitoba
Timer on the black Pete. Our Mack’s were pilgrims trucks and programmed to shit down every 3 min. Set the cruise just above idle and it won’t go dead
I for one love these auction sneak peek videos. Please keep 'em coming !
Dude!!!!!!! That tribute to Jack Burton was sick!!!!!! You gotta do a Pork Chop Express!!!
I like the 359 short hoods there neat just like the 900a shorts
Hi Mark & Mrs. Twin Stick Garage & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks & Friends & Randy
Really like seeing these videos and what they sold for 👍
If you don’t stop and look, the world will pass you by 😮
I love my stick!
ok there ive worked and my trucks still do A LOT of oilfield and offroad The big advantage of the allison automatic is the fact if you get on the governor you can seamlessly upshift it to get a run at things and then downshift it just as well when it bogs . If you have done this work with a stick you have to stay in the gear your in till your out of the muck you try to shift or touch the clutch its game over your stuck not a thing to do with real drivers or trucks .
For those who don't understand, the Allison Automatic 2:38 has a torque converter & clutch packs like an automotive automatic but the modern auto-shift trans has a clutch & a set of gears like a manual trans but is operated by an ECU with air pressure.
Thanks for the explanation but either way, they're no fun
@@TwinStix They're all about efficiency until somebody pulls up on the fuel island & shuts it off in gear or it's in Cokeville Wyoming with a junk starter & I can't pull start it!
Don’t like the auction hunts? By far my favourite videos, I still watch them three years back!
Watermelon lights 😂
Idle timer in ecm need to fast idle to override.
Love your on the hunt videos it’s great to see the different types of trucks over there
Love the on the hunt, Getting to see all the trucks !!
Bwaaahahaha LAMO siiiick 🤣😂😂🤣 Dolly Parton lights😂😂
I enjoy the auction walk around. Some cool trucks u don’t see in central Louisiana that u show us
The Movie at the end is High Ballin'
I was given a international cabover for a couple weeks to drive onece and I was shocked ar how well it shifted. A decent truck to drive actually.
Well Mark whether it's a 389 or a plastic fantastic, I just wish all truckers either in Canada or here in the states our best wishes and success, heaven only know with the freight rates and fuel prices how these guys are making ends meet is amazing, keep it up you guys from an old burnt out driver, safe miles and God Bless. Thanks for the video Mark and a swing license plate would look good on the cab over..............................................see ya
Mark don’t realize trucking is a business. He’s always on about “old school” “real trucks” “real trucking” blah blah blah. Dude sounds like he’s trying to convince himself that’s he part of of the “old school” “real trucker” crowd.
So talking about the raised bunks and all that, I myself preffer a flattop Pete or Kenworth. I do preffer the aerodyne Kenworth w9s over a raised roof Pete.
That yellow truck was an fld120 SD. For the Porkchop Express, you need an flc.
That’s wild the 03 bed sold for 39 grand. I can’t positively say that’s H&E’s old bed but if it is I swamped on it circa 2014. They shut down a few years later sadly. That black cabover was for sale at Ernco environmental in red deer for a few years. Had a single donkey style stack tip on it if memory serves.
At least here, most trucks built after 2010 or so had idle time out. You needed to high idle or turn it off in the ECU otherwise after a set time the truck would shut off. You get a blinking light on the light for 30 seconds before it shuts down.
I took my AZ course on standard so I wouldn't end up with automatic restriction. Everyone at the company I work has AZ so I've never got seat time. Boss doesn't want me in there. He even bought an auto concrete truck so I wouldn't be on the old Mac trucks. Ah well, I'm a pit girl anyway. I prefer the crushing and screening equipment. Other little jobs I get. Never get bored. I love your on the hunt episodes! You do what YOU enjoy! If people don't like it, they can skip the episode. Dam whiny humans! I wanted a bunch of trucks too! LOL
I know you guys have different meanings for words north of the border Mark, but here in the States
"Moose Knuckle" has a totally different meaning, and it's not truck related LOL...
I like the auction walks. We get to see some really cool, and different trucks.
I have to laugh, every time you get into a truck and it won't start, " Too many dreamers", as you
try to start it again LOL.
Yeah, probably not a good idea to compliment some guy on his moose knuckle.
Is a moose antler the same as a pants antler?
12:12 definatly an old camper hauler. heck maby a camper transporter that used to do for hire work
For what it's worth, I like the hunt series!
high ballin with jerry reed
Dear Twin Stix Mark P.
Uuuuuuh, nice, nice, nice! I love 💚 that green metallic truck. I'm simply a sucker for almost anything that is green.
Thanks a lot for making explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
I'd love to see you and peg bag on of those big sassy bed trucks, we have nothing like them in the area of the state's I'm at and they fascinate me
interesting that the cabover international smelt amazing inside.
That Classic XL was pretty sweet!
If you want to do some winch work, try a colab with Jerrold at Timelapse Trucker. Might be a good summer trip to Red Deer?
I think one reason trucks have dead batteries is because buyers leave the key on so other potential buyers cant start them and then think there’s a problem and stay away and don’t bid . It the same thing with car auctions people always leave the keys on to kill the battery
A lot of those lights would represent clubs and groups
Hey Mark I've got one of those licensed plates holders that my dad took off his old cab over when he retired from trucking id like to send it to u for the Duke
That’s awesome … email me twinstickgarage@gmail.com
Doing what I do, pumping grease interceptors, I haven’t seen any fuel advantage to the 579. I average 5.5-6 for the full day. Usually 3-4hrs of hwy empty. 3-4hrs driving around with 2of those hrs running the hydro’s to pump a total of 6-7K gal and 3-4hrs hwy loaded right around 75-90K pounds.
I got about the same MPG in a 2000 379 with a 60 series.
Ask Bruce Wilson for the color code on his blue Peterbilt trucks.Thats a nice colour!
lol I agree with your opinion on automatics. That’s why we are having major safety issues on the highway. Some people shouldn’t be aloud to drive a car let alone a big truck.
I don't mind the 'On the hunt' episodes. They're entertaining.
At 28:00 mark Thermo King makes a tri_pac unit that does the same thing as that one you are looking at. You should be able to find a good deal on a used unit. That you were in at 37:20 has the auto engine shutoff feature and it shuts the truck down after a few minutes at idle to save fuel.
Highballin ... the bad guys warehouse was Canpars Toronto maintenance shop on Front St
now just another waterfront condo tower
“Honey sorry I spent our house down payment but check out this c500” 👌👌👌
Somebody woke up on the nasty side of the bed today ..... everybody stop pickin' on Mark !! :)
Yeah he ate a whole jar of olives for breakfast now he's salty
Hey mark, the last automatic that i looked at would not start unless the brake pedal was being pushed. Just FYI.
