@@tomfitzpatrick7335 That was actually already supposed to be a film years ago, which was cancelled. I've always said it should've been 'The Shape Returns.' Not only is it the title for the main theme anyway, but it would've fit especially well with the titles of the next two films and would've helped separate the Blumhouse trilogy. The Shape Returns, The Shape Kills, The Shape Ends. Has a better ring to it, in my opinion
Just got out of the theater. It was very well done, and pays tribute to the original while being its own thing. The “new Laurie” is very likeable, and the movie takes its time building up Michael’s lore until he regains his mask and continues what he started. There are also tons of tributes to the other sequels laced throughout the movie, containing the spirit of the franchise to make up for the erased timeline. And it earns its R rating!
I hate that it is called Halloween. There is now 3 films called Halloween. Should've called it Halloween: The Shape Halloween Returns Halloween : Michael Myers or something else really...
No Dave, because he's a known comedic actor and comedic writer and has never written a horror screenplay before. It was surprising to see. But let me guess, you saw that he had a screenplay credit and thought, immediately, "This is going to be the best Halloween movie since the original!" Nice try though.
Ken Mabie - FIND ME ON BITCHUTE Where? I waited the whole video to hear them mention it. I kept wondering why they discussing whether its set up for a sequel or not. The stinger makes it obvious...
The fact they reference the original ending by having Laurie thrown off the balcony and when Michael turns around, she disappears, was a GREAT homage to the original. Well made film.
Red88Rex Laurie took Michael’s spot in a few of those homages like when her granddaughter is in the classroom and sees her and when she’s thrown off the balcony
No need to get hostile. Also i am not a fan of the horror movie genre. If you do not respect that. Fine by me But i am entitled to say what i feel and like what i like.
He looks like the kind of guy that would save you from a serial killer in a park in the middle of the night, and after asking if you are ok, he would just walk away with his hands in his pockets, like nothing really happened. He was never really there.
The opening credits was an homage to the original in reverse AND a metaphor for the plot. Michael was old and docile, then suddenly revived back to his younger days
Laurie makes money off journalists/podcasters paying to talk to her about her experience. I loved that aspect. She's able to amass this fortress and armory through her trauma which eventually gives her the skill to actually go toe to toe with Michael. It's a really nice, natural character arc for her.
I thought the movie was fine (better than most of the Halloween sequels), but I don't think it's better than Halloween 2 (1981) when it comes to being conclusive.
glad im not the only one, i LOVE that movie almost as much as the original simply cause of nostalgia when i was 10 watching michael trudge through the hospital
My favorite part is when THAT GUY is on the ground, staring up at Michael, and finally tells him to "say something". And Michael responds by stomping his head in, as James said, "like a watermelon." In my theater, some laughed, others shrieked or were grossed out. Me? I just sat there with a satisfied, sadistic smile on my face. That moment pleased me. ^_^
If the Red Letter Media trope is that Mike has to bring up Star Trek no matter what, then the Cinemassacre trope is that James has to bring up at least one universal horror movie per review.
I LOVE these Cinemassacre Video videos. It's the VHS design. It makes me feel like a teenager again. :D I think its the only thing I love almost as much as the Nerd or James & Mike Mondays.

Just got back from seeing it. I'm getting the same vibes, best of all the Halloween sequels. They just really nailed it with the tone and atmosphere. Also I like the new dudes Kieran, Justin, and Tony. They fit well into what you guys are doing. Keep up the good work!

Cool review, great breakdown, and dialogue (I just subscribed). I love the way you guys bounce ideas off each others, that's pretty awesome. I have not seen the movie yet, but it seems pretty awesome.
I honestly love how he isn’t really drawn towards Laurie or her family. She thinks he is. But he’s not. He’s really just wandering around killing randoms until he’s driven towards her place where there’s no one else around. He’s drawn towards Haddonfield more than anything.
zachary S yea not at all. He ends up there and it’s the only house around him lol. I’m a huge fan of him just wandering the town committing random acts of murder.
Supposedly Nick castle was only in the scene where Michael is at the asylum. The breathing sounds all throughout the movie are also provided by Nick castle
My daughter called the twist at the beginning of the movie. When the character is introduced my daughter was like "I bet blank blank blank" and then blank blank blank happened.
Halloween 2 is still my favorite of the Halloween sequels. I haven’t seen this one yet. I think Laurie and Michael being related was really interesting, and was hoping they would keep it in this one.
Weirdly enough, Halloween 2 is a comfort movie for me. I play it in the background while I'm doing packing, unpacking, reorganizing or making lists on the old laptop.
I think my favorite reference was Allyson's costume towards the end of the film, and how it resembles Laurie's outfit in the original. The way they did that was really subtle and really clever. Also, it was John's son Cody who who helped him with the music, John Carpenter doesn't have a daughter.
I can't tell you how much I was hoping to hear Stone Cold Steve Austin's entrance music start playing at the beginning of the video when you hear the glass shatter hahaha
I'm the king! I'm the king! Holy shit that was hilarious. I hadn't noticed that all this time and to top it off I had just watched that episode of Seinfeld. Great group review.
The irony of the part where you consider Michael Myers superhuman strength and making excuses for things when you remember that there was a trailer for Glass before this movie for me
I didn't really like the fact that Laurie called him "the shape". I mean I get is as a callback, but he's never referred to as the shape in the movies, it's just what he's called in the credits (if i remember correctly).
I immediately thought it was foreshadowing her as the new killer. Her ex-boyfriend somehow made it out of the movie alive... Could be so she can kill him now.
When it came to the opening credits i was kind of hoping to see the skull inside the pumpkin again, But still it was cool that this movie went full old school,
I think what they were trying to go for in terms of Myers' immortality is that. He can get hurt, he can get killed, but unlike a human being, he's pure evil and it would take a hell of a lot more than what Laurie threw at him to destroy him. I bet if they do a continuation of this, it's gonna be like terminator, where he loses more body parts, but still keeps going.
Ah yes, “Halloween”, not to be confused with “Halloween” or “Halloween”.

Halloween: The Shape
Halloween Returns
Halloween : Michael Myers

Just rented this video 2 days ago I've been following Cinemassacre for years but never saw this perfect timing!
I wonder why a closeup was made to the knife on Laurie's granddaughter hand at the end of the movie. Is that meaningful information or just a tease?
I thought something similar but I was wondering if the curse would pass down to her. I hope is what you said because that is awesome.
It has to do with the fact Laurie kept throwing away her weapon in the original but Allison holds on to it even when they get away!
