So good to see this kit ! I built this as a Monogram model back in the early eighties and it was such a nice easy build that looked really good . i still have it somewhere but it’s almost definately not in the best condition . I hope they re release the other trucks from that collection , in particular the Chevy Bison , that was the first truck I ever built and I have loved them from that time period ever since !
The parts you were wondering on the roof are air vents .Inside cab on roof is handle that controls the fresh air intake those viens contol the air flow into that handle operated door
1/32 scale - not so big it won't sit on a tiny house shelf - not so small you can't detail the heck out of it. And there are LOTS of different kits in the scale. THIS semi tractor build is a great example of this size. Great job on the build - dig the details. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice work, I love it! You don't want to go to sleep on these current 1/32 car and truck kits, they have rather nice detail and build up quite well.
I miss building and still love the old 1/43 amt matchbox model trucks. I've got 1 truck and 1 trailer model still in original wrapped boxes. I just look at them and admire them, lol.
Ya Chris , these were great fun builds. They mostly were branded as snap kits in the 80's. There were several trucks and trailers. My best friend and I built a bunch of them and ran all over the house and yard. Of course my dad was a truck driver too!!!! Great build PS the roof detail acted like an air scoop for the roof vent just behind the marker lights. there was also a vent in the middle of the cowl just behind the hood for fresh air through the dash. Talk about your old school "Air Conditioning"... LOL Cheers from Ontario Canada, EH! Earl
I've got the Revell or Monogram 1:32nd scale MACK R tanker truck that came with the trailer, it's the press fit model, the truck is the same as the one you're doing the build review on the only difference is mine is molded in blue and the tanker trailer is molded in grey and has the sticker decals, I bought this back in September 2010😊❤👍
These old Snap Tite trucks really go together nicely. Built four of them many years ago. The first one I built was a Freightliner cab over back in 1980 which I've never seen them reissue. I think this Mack came with a tanker trailer at one time but I don't think there were any separate trailer kits; those tended to come in tractor-trailer sets. Another great job; in looking at the thumbnail I thought it was another 25th scale AMT truck.
Mack R semi truck 1/32 scale model kit came out beautiful luv old bulldog look from that era of Mack rigs after mid 2000s there where junk trucks since then.
Great job I'm glad they came back out with that mack when I use to drive heavy haul that was the first truck I drove if I wanted ac I opened the vents an roll the windows down it was my favorite truck to drive 13spd with a Cummins engine in it
Nice to see some more 1/32 scale vehicles. I am downsizing and making 1/32& 1/35 kits now so great to see~ love your channel PS. I so do agree that the manufacturers should re issue a lot more of these smaller scale kits.Airfix ,Revell Gunze Sanyo and others to name but afew
Had to watch in fast-forward, need sleep for work. You did an incredible job on such a simple kit; I built the 78/79 Peterbilt cabover a few years ago in the same scale line. You may have big hands, but watching in fast-forward, you have the skill of a ballerina! (((🤣)))
On top of the cab you did perfectly they are air vents for 55 mph air conditioning lol used by a grab handle back in the day!!! Most r models were tin cans no ac lol
Great build Chris , built a 40 year old Monogram GMC General a few weeks ago I’ve got a cabinet full of these kits put a little effort in and you’d never know they were a cheap snap kit
Oh for f🤬ck sake....just what I needed, another inspiring hpiguys build video....with the alluring voices of the Syrens from the Greek mythology and beautiful colours! I'm already waiting on four classic MPC Corvettes, '57 and '60, 830:12, 1-3717, 1-3725 and 6355, a Revell 1965 Chevelle and a 1971 Plymouth Duster....give us a break will you, been drooling over one these Mack's for a good while....I need to be strong, I can do this, look and walk away....😉😆😂
I watched the video to see what I had done wrong on my first attempt. The most glaring mistake was I put the Chevy decal on the wrong side of the mud flaps. The Bision was an easy kit, now I m looking forward to the 1/24 kit.
Chris, Great build. You painted your engine yellow. A Mack R would have a Mack engine, which comes from the factory painted Mack gold. And Mack uses a gold bulldog, when the engine is a Mack engine. The bulldog is chrome, when the engine is another brand. I built (first issue- molded in red)one. Cut the sleeper off. Added spoke wheels off the 2 Mack CF firetrucks. And made a scratch built dump box for it. I painted it orange, to be a highway department truck.1/32 scale is a great scale to work with, because the details are just as good as 1/25.
BRASS BULLDOG, NOT GOLD. EVERYTHING ELSE YOU MENTIONED IS CORRECT. I ACTUALLY HAVE A REAL BRASS BULLDOG HOOD ORNAMENT. I'M BUILDING A 80'S CAB OVER MACK SEMI AND I WILL DISPLAY THE HOOD ORNAMENT WITH IT.
Chris that thing that has the marker light in the middle is the air vent for in the cab also called the roof vent

I build one of these as the Mack from The Road Warrior. Took a lot of scratch building and not a single part wasn't modified in one way or another. But it's the end result that counts.
I loved watching the process of assembling and painting this badass Mack! I never worked with model kits before but since I love American trucks my parents got me a Kenworth W900 Aerodyne model kit from Revell for my birthday. I want to make it look good and since I am so inexperienced this video helps a lot. Waiting to get some time off work and I will get to assembling it. Definitely a hobby I really wanna get into. (edit) The Revell model kits really look amazing, but other than Revell can you recommend some other brands for US semi trucks and 60-70's Buicks? I am from Europe and I cannot find anything like that anywhere near here.
When i was a kid my uncle drove a Mack truck and he gave me and my late father a Mack hat pin and i still have them and i'm pushing 60 now that how old they are
Very nice looking model. You did an impressive job on this one. What do you think of that red spray paint? I’ve heard several really bad comments about that paint. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice build and color choices. Crispness of the chrome tree parts was excellent. You have much steadier hands than I would, doing that much brush detailing. I would buy and build this in 1:25, but have no interest whatsoever in mixing my scale with 1:32. The plastic open-back hollow treadless tires here are especially disappointing. I can even see that hollow inner side on the tandems when the model was being spun around on turntable on camera. To my naked eye, it would be even more noticeable. Agree there should be decals for console and gauges, to sharpen the interior.
Daniel. Yes there was a tank trailer ( which would make a great Rubber Duck with the Mack!!) and a box trailer. I know there was also a rare tank/ flatbed pup trailer. Made. I even had a Dale Earnhardt tuck / drop Trailer and NSCAR race car kit but I sold it !! I wish I never did!!
@@IamGalvatron Thanks for the info. I recall seeing someone building up a version to re-create the truck from Convoy, it could have been partially scratch built. It even had the duck hood ornament.

I have two R models in 1/32. I'm waiting on the Superliner in 1/32 . And the these R model r snap type kits. I have the ones with tanker trailers.
Thank you Chris for all the models you have done. I have learned some much from you.
Very nice work, I love it! You don't want to go to sleep on these current 1/32 car and truck kits, they have rather nice detail and build up quite well.

Fantastic build Chris! A classic Mack in great colors. Can't wait for the Bison to be released.

The part in between the 3 center marker lights is a roof vent

Excellent job on the Mack R tractor Chris! That red with that striping package really pops!
do that in dark blue, add a dump bed get rid of the sleeper, and you have the last dump truck dad drove for years, i love this truck, nice build
That looks really great Chris Yes I would like to see some more 1/32 scale tractors👍👍
Chris this looks great. 1/32 scale would be a good size because it takes up less space. Thanks for the video.
Those things on roof are air vents for in the cab, and you got them right.
That's a really great model and the brackets on the roof for a air conditioning unit.

I'd love to see this kit eventually include parts to make the Rubber Duck from Convoy.
One piece mirrors !!! Yes. The worst part of building the big trucks in my opinion. Grat build. 👏👏🇨🇦
👍👍👍👍
Always a great review! As far as I know, all the snap-together kits are Level 1, branded as 'Snaptite.'
Roof scoops direct air to the vent that pushes open for ventilating the cab.
Planning on getting it to build the Rubber Duck from Convoy
Revell have brought that kit out here in Oz with a tank trailer as well with Aussie markings..nice model
The bit on top of the roof is where the air comes in through the roof for the vent
Masterful build sir beautiful
Glad you like it!

Some Trailer Hoses would top it off nicely.
1:32nd scale

Great job on the truck,All the r models I've been arnd and drove had the company name on the radiator guard thats attached to the bumper
It would be really cool if they could make modern truck models

Cool beans!

When you put the clear coat on did you spray paint it or ham brushed it for the body and the fuel tanks and the front windshield

Hockey sticks 👍👍
Nice build …Does the silver sharpie wear off over time or if touched ?
very nice Chris, When can we see a fórmula 1? Congratulations, nice job
I have one that is a KISS end of the road tour truck they also have AC/DC and motorhead tour trucks all three with trailers
Very handsome build!!
Is this ex-Monogram? They did a 1:32 Mack firetruck too, didn't they?
Nice job, Chris.
I was 13 when I built this Mack

Rubber Duck truck from the 1978 movie Convoy
I have Mack R conventional Cement truck running around the county that I live in before?
Nice job 👍 I'm curious about this floor polish you use. Is that in place of clear coat and how u apply it ?
Sir, the yellow that you used isn't cat yellow. But it's still cool
Also there was a 1/32 scale Kenworth K100 cabover
Those are air vents on the roof of the cab

Is the same model of Mack Truck from the movie Convoy?
Sort of. This appears to be an R600 while the Convoy truck was an R700. The R700 had a longer hood. The sleeper on the Convoy truck was larger.

Mack R Truck, color in black.
The thing you can't identify on the roof is a fresh air vent.

Decals not dekals
Yes. Pronounced De-kal not deck-kill.
Well if this kit was a cabover , it would look like the tractor from the TV series , BJ and the bear .
that would make a cool convoy replica with a bit of kitbashing the wheels off of the international transtar co, and a bit of scratchbuilding
If you another one make it the rubber duck convoy
