The Chevrolet Task Force (or in some cases, Task-Force) is a light-duty (3100-short bed & 3200-long bed) and medium-duty (3600) truck series by Chevrolet introduced in 1955, its first major redesign since 1947. Known as the Blue Chip in the parallel GMC it had more modern design than the preceding Advance Design without sacrificing ruggedness or durability.
First available on March 25, 1955, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years from 1955 (2nd series) until 1957. Model years 1955 & 1956 had the “egg crate grill”. 1955 had the emblems below the lateral line of the front fender, whereas in 1956, the emblem was located above the lateral line and the hood emblem was a bit higher on the hood. In 1957, the grill changed to a more open design and the hood was given “spears” resembling the Bel Air.
In 1958 the series was renamed “Apache”, found on fender emblems, given a second set of headlights, and received other minor changes. The model continued with minor changes through 1959.
In 1960 the truck was redesigned as the C/K Series, but retained the Apache name. In 1962 that line was sold as the C/K Series.
GM redesigned their truck line for the second half of 1955, but sold both designs that year; the previous design became known as the 1st Series, and the all-new design as the 2nd Series. Commercial trucks and various other heavy duty models were also available.[1] Chevrolet and GMC named their new series independently.
The trucks were differentiated by running gear and interiors; Chevrolet used Chevrolet engines, and GMC used GMC inline-sixes and Pontiac V8s (Oldsmobile V8s for heavy-duty trucks).
For the first time in GM history, trucks were available with optional power steering, power brakes, and V8s. A column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission was standard, with an optional floor-shift-4 speed manual or Hydramatic automatic. The electrical system got an upgrade to 12 volts.
The new body featured the truck industry's first wrap-around windshield,[2] and an optional wrap-around rear window for Deluxe cab models.[3] Headlights became integrated into the fenders. The cab is taller in size, and in-cab steps replaced the running boards of previous models. A "step" between the cab and rear fender aided access to items inside the pickup bed. Redesigned bed fenders were carried through the next generation body that ended in 1966.

They should include an LS engine option since it is a restomod. Nicely done, Sir.
Could always find a 3D printed one to
I have a spare motor or two.
For sure, but I have an engine from a Hurst Oldsmobile 4-4-2 I scrapped a while ago that should be able to fit.
I'll bet Iceman collections can fix you right up with 1.
As a word nerd (though NOT a mechanic!), what is a "restomod", please?
I have an older issue of this model. I'm building it with the stock 235 cid I-6.
Me gusta tu contenido, soy de Querétaro, México. Tienes buena técnica y es apasionante ver los procesos de armado. Saludos
My only suggestion would have been to leave the inner front fenders the light blue, since it is a custom.😊
I haven't built this custom version but I built the stock one when it came out eons ago. It's a fantastic and highly detailed kit. I love that they included the inline 6 engine.
This came out great. Can't wait to get one of these.
What a nice looking truck Chris.
Nice build👍
Nice video and build up! The wheels are definitely 1980's -1990's wheels.
Chris, when a sharpie gets clogged, how do you unclog it?
Forgive my ignorance but can you explain the coating of modge podge in the bed please. Thank you.
I'm going broke watching your videos. Great video Chris, keep em coming, i'll keep watching.
I am well ahead of you: broke and skinny!
Love it Chris! I live in a small town and I know at least 2 of us here watch your vids.
Keep up the great builds!
Great looking model. I used to live for building models when I was young. But then, 1/25 scale car models like this used to cost only $1.25 - $1.50 each. I was shocked seeing what the current prices are for the same kits I used to build as a kid. Bottles of paint that I used to pay $.59 for are now $5 - 6.00. Luckily I've stocked up quite a good collection of kits through the years to keep me busy for probably the rest of my life. Lol.
Great kit and review.
Full watch and share .
Awesome build .
BEST IN SHOW !!!
Mike
Nicely done Chris! Looks like the exact color scheme I did my stock ‘60 Chevy pickup. I had the same tight fit when putting the interior into the cab…
I don't comment too often on your builds. This is a beauty..
Love the 6 cylinder engine, not many of those engines are out. Love the video and the review, keep on building. Have a great day.
Just love it! Great job Chris!!! Love the color.
Kit looks nice but the wheels and steering wheel look like They would fit better on an S10 Mini truck.
Great-looking build Chris, and a good choice not using any of the flames or scallops decals on the truck it looks great as it is 👍👍
I would love to kitbash two identical trucks to make a crew cab out of them. Already put my pre-order with Burbanks House Of Hobbies!
Please post a video when finished! 😊
Thanks Chris, Ny Fav C10 truck years 1960 to 1966
Chris you hit it right on with the Color 👍👍and your right about the Steering Wheel such a nice Dash , Also you have a very Steady Hand when your using the Chrome & other Pens 👍👍 Great Job Chris 👍👍
Nice job as always, love your color scheme.
Have you seen any 62 trucks to build? I had 2 one custom fleet,v8 - other 235 stepside , wish had them back, real trucks . Not the candy…. Trucks today .
This needs to be a 4x4 with a big block and lifted
You could probably kit bash one with one from Revell, 1978 GMC Big Country Pickup.
Chevy used coil springs GMC used leaf springs. 60-62 only torsion bar front.
Another great video Chris. I made the same mistake on assembling the front spindles. I went back to look at your video and found the right way to do it!
Nicely built detailing and colors
When you buy model cars you really don’t have to do the extra that’s why it comes with directions?
What glue do you usually use for things like side mirrors or wipers, things like that
The option engine was a 283 smb , no Ls , back then they had taste real hp.
What's in the green jar that you use to prep before applying a decal?
👍👍
Building a 60 fleet for some reason the roof has to holes in it
You need a smaller brush for detailing.
Looks like a pain in the butt to build with tube glue!
❤. IT ! . AN OTH"R GRRR88T TRUCK 😮 BROTH"R 😮🤩🤪🐎🤠
What paint pen did you use for the shut lines around the doors? I've seen a stock version 1960 chevy that I'm watching on ebay. Thanks for a great channel 👍🏻🤗
Gundam markers and Molotow Blackliners work well for door seams.
@@hpiguy thanks mate, cheers for the heads up on that.👍🏻
I absolutely love that kit! Suggestion for the Round 2 guys, for the next reissue, why not make it a 1960 CMC K1000 4x4? And since the 283 can be found everywhere, why not put in the GMC-exclusive big 305 V6? That would open up a lot of possibilities for the kitbash guys, as well as make one heck of a cool truck as is! But sadly I've heard that GMC are a huge pain when it comes to licensing; is that true?
Nice build Chris!
Definitely going to get one!
Besides the 1934 pick up ,
The 60 Chevy pickup is one of my favorite kits!
I built this kit in its original stock form in 2000 and it was just as impressive as the earlier 1950 Chevy pickup. I'm glad to see it back out again with the customizing parts, because with that you can truly individualize it some more. One of the things that impressed me about this kit too when I got it was that it had a full list of factory paint schemes in the instructions, and this decal sheet is miles better because in the late 90s/early 2000s AMT/Ertl's decal sheets were three pairs of license plates and nothing else! Now I've seen the full build, the Mod Podge on the "woodgrain" on the bed floor gives it a nice varnished effect that adds to the custom look.
I want one
The first time I’ve seen you’re videos are when I was going to get my first one that was the 1977 ford pinto and I saw pictures of you’re pinto.
Nice looking kit. I always paint the underside of trucks with a wood bed flat black and say it is undercoating. Very nice detail work. Thanks for sharing.
Great video brother! I'm getting a couple if not three! Got the ideas bouncing around in my head on customization!
The kustom parts are not my thing, but it is a nice kit regardless. Great job on the build too.
Great job, seats look like suede 👍ya that steering wheel looks like a hubcap😊
I love how nice this cars are and more cleaner then the ones I’ve built.
Nice truck sir q tips make good axal shafts
That is a neat hood on that truck. Thanks for the build.
Really cool. 👍
Great job, kit looks awesome.

At 78, I've owned (to drive) over 100 cars. This truck was NOT nice to me - that's all I'll say. Well, I might build it just to store firecrackers. Not your fault, Chris. Your build is much nicer than I deserve. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Nuthin's prettier than a vintage HoJo's ashtray!
Well, and the model looks good too,
