Welcome back old pal! Let's see what you're made of! First do pretty hard levels... and then immediately jump to the impossible ones within three levels.
I made the mistake of, after beating Chapter 1, immediately playing the B-side instead of moving onto chapter 2. Those 970 deaths were worth it, though, because I got to hear this song.
In the regular art Madeline looks confused and afraid at the A side of the tape In the B Side art Badeline isn’t even looking at the tape, she’s flipped it over and knows exactly what she’s getting into Even the art has symbolisms
@@WuchtaArt I don't know, I think the point stands even though she isn't actually confused. She seems almost... hopeful. Unlike Badeline, whose completely, maniacally giddy.
I just love that, when the level starts, the game says "music by Maxo", but in Portuguese they decided to write "música de Maxo", which kind of reads either like "music by Maxo" or "macho music". Reading that the first time was so unexpected and it just makes me laugh.
Sometimes I sit here and wonder how people draw Madeline as petite when she's obviously at the damn pinnacle of physical fitness with all the parkour and acrobatics she does without needing to stop and rest she's probably jacked, honestly
Whey I mean, if you don't weigh much it costs less energy to run and pull yourself up, so being petit could help a lot actually, but even if she isn't jacked she would still be pretty strong for her size
by "petite" i mean "stick thin and probably couldn't even do a pull-up" Madeline is definitely smol, but there's no way she doesn't have some meat on those bones
When I accidentally came here during my first playthrough I thought something like "I must have to unlock something to beat this." It took a couple of A sides to realize there's no easy ways to beat the game. 10/10 game
*This theme embodies the feeling of going from discouraged to empowered* I've never played a game that could shape my emotions like this until Celeste.
when I first heard this song I was already emotive because.. well.. I was playing Celeste (which conquered the first place in my heart), but I started to hear things that was very familiar to me, not because it's a Celeste theme, but it is a mix by MAXO! who has stolen my heart decades ago!! I LOVE YOU MAXO AND ALL THE MUSIC THAT YOU DO!!!
The more fast paced drum & bass sound of this compared to its A-side counterpart gives the song this sense of new found confidence after coming back to the mountain that I really like
Getting slapped around by 1B for the first time was somehow really satisfying. Meeting a challenge and improving through adversity just feels really good. I'm glad this game was challenging, but also fun. Made every try feel worth it. Also, Lena, this is my favorite track. You seriously nailed this OST 100%. It's perfect!
This song is one of the best remixes of a song I've ever heard, no joke. The whole song just sounds so heavenly and intense at the same time. This might just be my single favorite song in the OST. Never gonna stop loving this game!
Fun fact: Maxo had also made soundtrack for I Wanna Be The Cat, in pretty similar style and sound. So, when I was playing that B-Side, the music and the fact, that platforming started to get tight really started to fuse these two games for me lol
What I really like about 1B (and to some degree, 1C as well) is that there, you can really see how you are improving at the game. When I first did it, which was before I even did chapter 4a, I died like 500 times (yes, I was TERRIBLE :D) but now, i can reliably clear it in less than 10 deaths, sometimes even deathless. 1B really rewards you for being patient.
In spite of the difficulty spike, I really enjoyed the B-sides and even some of the C-sides. The trick for me was that I started looking at the rooms more like puzzles than platforming challenges, and I had fun figuring out how to solve them.
not gonna lie, that shit was surprisingly hard, especially considering that this is the first level. The amount of near-pixel perfect jumps you have to do is ridiculous

While not the best song out of all in the soundtrack (it's got some tough competition), I can imagine this being the theme for Madeline's stage in Smash.
