Being a vanner myself and in the process of restoring a 73 Dodge van, I can only applaud you rescuing this old Dodge conversion van. I’m not surprised you got the 318 running as they are very dependable motors that run a long time. A quarter million miles on it, the previous owner said? Amazing! If you want to get a little better mileage out of it find then find an old Dodge truck with a 4 speed O/D automatic from late 80s or early 90s. That would be a 518 or 46RH you need. My 73 has a 360 with a 518 and it works pretty nice. I just push a button to turn in the O/D when I’m traveling above 50 mph. You can set it up to work automatically too like it did in the donor vehicle. Good luck. Will be watching for more in this van.
Thank for watching and thanks for that tip. She said reverse is out, so I was planning on rebuilding it or finding a replacement 727. I like your suggestion better!
You can pull a door lock cylinder out and take it to a locksmith and have a key made..I've done it a few times..
Hour long vids are as long as I like, but 2 to 4 vids on the same thing is a very acceptable option.😃
It's a shaggin' wagon. Can't wait to see what your guys are gonna do with it.
Thank you! Its coming along. We can hardly wait to take it on a trip.
Wow...
Fun Fact : In 2025 , Texas will no longer require us to submit our vehicles to an annual state inspection ..Everyone will still pay the $7.50 annual fee , and the 17 counties surrounding Dallas-Ft. Worth and Houston will still need to submit to the emission sniff testing ( we're in Montgomery which is one of those stinky counties that makes us pass the ding-dang cotton-pick'n emission sniffy test on our vehicles )
HUGE THUMBS UP on your latest ULTRA MASSIVE project
😇❤
Hi, I used to live In London UK. Luckily We retired to the coast 21 years ago. Nowadays within the huge ring road around London, the M25 motorway, Only new or near-new vehicles can drive in the area known as the ULEZ. - ULTRA LOW EMISSION ZONE. If your vehicle Is not acceptable you pay a daily £12.50 charge. Many 1000s of vehicles have been sold even trucks even ambulances, fire engines and police vehicles. It's pure madness.
@@TUMBLINJEST But even still , the UK's VOSA MOT test is far more strict and detailed than the typical U.S. vehicle inspection . Here , -if you have good brakes , a good horn , good tyres/tires , good windshield wipers , quiet non-smoking exhaust , and working lights all around -your vehicle will pass ..I have sympathy for the vintage car enthusiasts in the UK and throughout Europe in general
ANOTHER FUN FACT : I was actually born in the '80's at Lakenheath AFB , UK 😉
Thanks for sticking around! Can hardly wait for those inspections to go away. I feel sick any time I'm forced to allow someone else drive my vehicles.
Doesn’t matter how long the video is as long as it is interesting.
I’d watch a 24 hour live stream like big brother or something hahah not in a creepy way.
Can wait to see it works my family had one when i was born to until I turned 21 then sold it but it was the greatest van we ever had and what I like the best of this video is that all the family is involved and happy
Thank you so much!
Hour long v8deos are the key.
Doesn't matter the end if it means a part 2 or 3. 5 10 and 20 min video aren't too enjoyable. Your product is a representation of your determination and YOU.❤
Thank you!
i like the long videos better then the short videos
Brings back memories
Very cool my parents had a friend that was very talented and painted many vans years ago. He was nice guy even with many health problems he still did some cool stuff. Sadly his health caught up with him. I do wish I had some pictures of his artwork.
It’s becoming a lost art.
thats awesome man
Thanks! Can’t wait to cruise it
Every example of Old School deserves to be saved! Thanks for the content 👍🇦🇷
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching!
Dang man seeing that sweet old shaggin van in the scrapyard hurts😢
Yeah, that was a gut punch to see.
The quality of your videos is really good. Thanks for the video.
Glad you like them!
Thank you for rescuing that old van . Keep the video's coming. Never give up. God bless.
I didn't hear him sneeze.
Thank you Tim! I appreciate the support.
I Love The Old School Dodge Van.I Can't Wait To See Brought Back To It's Former Glory.
@@TexasHillbilly DO YOU DO FOR HIRE WORK? I HAVE A CLASS 8 TRACTOR I NEED MOVED FROM THE MIDWEST TO FLORIDA FOR $2600 OR UNDER IF YOU WANT THE WORK.

Definitely!
Very much like the video!! Like long start finish vids!

Welcome to the channel. Thanks for watching!
Love start to finish videos and understand about family time and job love seeing a project finished to
Yes! Thank you!
It's so awesome to see another older vehicle being refurbished. Back in those days vehicles were built better then our vehicles in the 20th. Century!! You are a Blessed man that your( Ohana) Family is on board with you!! I would love to see your end results!!
P.s I'll watch video no matter how long it is.
Thank you for the kind words!
You have a pretty smart son
Appreciate that. He’s wise beyond his years.
Any old Van like this is cool, it doesn't matter if it's a Chevy Dodge of Ford.
21:40, believe it or not, they actually put that seam in there from the factory, it was not extended for a conversion.
These Vans were used as airport service and church use, Vehicles, the extra space at the back was added for cargo space, from the factory.
I meant that line is where the shorter versions typical have there end cap. It came out wrong.
I so much love to see happy children. Keep doing what your doing, much love
Thank you.
What a gem! 😍
Greetings from the Netherlands 👍
Thanks for watching from the Netherlands!
AWESOME! Thanks for a great video 📹.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your hour long videos are fine with me. I'll watch your videos no matter the running time. You all make great content, editing, entertainment and education, plus the family involvement is awesome.
Can't wait to see more.
Thank you!
I remember those Mural Vans from the 1970's! I was 16 in 1977. I thought those were so cool. I wanted one! I liked the Ford Econoline Van, 1976 model with the 302 or 351 Cleveland V8.
When I was a baby parents had a 79 Econoline the same color at this one. No mural, but it was cool.
Awesome looking van in the photo, can't wait to see how you fix it up,should be excellent, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks as always Donald.
Great video, I think consistency is key monthly, weekly, just keep being a great Dad and you will be shown the way
Great input. Tanks you!
Great to see a video on a 70's Boogie van rescue. So many of these rolling works of art got neglected and scrapped. Subscribed!
I agree. There is a boogie vans group in Austin that’s growing. I typically try to avoid that part of Texas, but glad to see they are being saved.
I use to have a show van. I had a 1976 Ford Ecoline. It had pictures of a white polor bear looking over a cliff in the sunset. It had flairs and spoilers and four zoomies. Black fury roof and blue carpet. It had a 12 inch steering wheel. Aluminum rims. I was in a van club. Central Illinois Van Club. Loved it! The van was silver. CB handle Silver Bear.
Awesome Van! Thanks for sharing.
Love the van
Very best of luck from the UK. Looking forward to part two. Jim.
Thank you Jim!
Just found this channel... can't wait to see you restore this
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching.
I personally like longer videos, I feel a greater connection with the project. but I have nothing against shorter videos! I prefer videos that include all the little things that come with the project, successful and unsuccessful, personally, I'm constantly doing something on vehicles, it relaxes and satisfies me
Thanks for your input! And thanks for watching.
Love it. And glad to see this much footage as of now. I just subscribed because of this van
Thanks for watching!
...EST CARRO DE FAMINH
VAI DA TRABANLHO MAIS VALE APENA E UM OTIMO CARRO 😮 ❤

I have 1999 dodge ram van that I restored it took me about 1 year with the 318 I drive it everyday and now I’m working on another car repair job and yes I would love to see your van from start to finish buddy thank you
Right on! Thanks for watching.
yes i like long videos we get to see more and I love the van.
Thank you!
Beautiful content Mate. Looking forward to next
Much appreciated!
With all the options you have with late model cars/trucks in the junkyards you can have a large choice of seats to choose from. Like late model Ram pick up trucks or car seats out of a Lexus or Cadillac, etc. Or make the aft end of the interior have a fold down seats that turn into a bed. The person that suggested the overdrive automatic transmission would be an excellent way to get more mpg between fill ups.
I like your channel is the best video in the USA
I am from the UK
Thank you!
Awesome van , please get it back on the road
That’s the plan!
I prefer videos this long as we see the progress as it happens keep doing what you do I'm sitting here with baited breath 😊
Awesome! Thank you! Appreciate the input.
30 to 40 minute videos are great to me but you do it the way that's easier for you and I'll watch! I am looking forward to seeing this old girl shined up though!
Just came across your channel and enjoyed this video ❤
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching.
Nice video..your little boy is such a hero..
Cute family..
Thank you so much!
Just found your channel! I’m hooked! 🙏✌️
Awesome! Thank you! Glad to have you.
i feel you about the heat as I live in Australia though its rained for the last 2 weeks and my cars cheap BS ethanol fuel drew in a ton of water
10% eternal here. Its wreaks havoc on small engines. Some stations still have ethanol free, but they’re hard to find.
Yes
Very nice👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you!
Put a sticker on it that says you see this van rocking don't bother knocking🇺🇲
Would like to see the full restoration on this van, hour long videos are worth the wait so as many videos as it takes, want to see as much work as possible not cutting out jobs , take it slow with much detail as possible. Thanks all the way from Wales in the UK
You got it brother from UK.
Great video and a awsome van, glad its been rescued, enjoy long video and subscribe🇳🇴😀
Thanks for the sub!
Felicidades por tu excelente trabajo espero te la quedes para disfrutar con tu hermosa familia . Saludos de Puebla-Mexico.
Muchas Gracias!

Awesome thank you!
Good luck
Hi pal from England tack your time pal i will be subscribing to you to see the van get built ok 👍 👍
Thank you for watching
That's such a super cool van brother let's go.
Let’s go Cleet!
@@TexasHillbilly heck yeab brother
I would keep it at an hour and focus on one part of the build. Engine running and driving , cleanup, detailing , tear down and rebuild. On this van I would love to see an updated interior but on the outside have a mural artist recreate the mural......love you channel , just found it. I'm happy to see you involve the family and your interactions with each of them. You have a very nice family .
Thanks for watching and that's great advice on the video lengths. I appreciate your support.
I love to see you take it all the way like a two hour or whatever😂😂😂😂😅🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Hahaha, thank you. I'm thinking about long videos for new rescues, then shorter videos in between. Maybe long ones for when we successfully drive the vehicles for the first time.
I tried contacting the owners several times over the past year to try and buy this van but never got any reply’s. I saw the thumbnail and it was unmistakable what I was looking at. I really missed out on this but I am glad I can see what you guys are going to do with it. Just subscribed to see future videos of this van.
Thank you! Yeah, that old ad is still up. The person that posted it for sale isn't even the owner. I got him to reply once, but he no longer lived in the area, so he couldnt tell me any more about it. I ended up finding the actual owner and Im glad I did. She's a treasure.
Fyi, on the rear bumper whiskey net passenger side you can put a floor jack and a piece of wood maybe a 4 x 4 blocks back to shape 🤔🤔🤔🤔🏀👍
Ill give it a shot. Tried that on our pinto. It wouldnt budge.
Super video, thanks for posting. I would go for longer videos covering start to finish. Best of luck with the channel I hope it is successful.
Thank you!
Buenas tardes , te escribo desde España , es la primera vez que veo tus videos , me ha encantado , tienes un nuevo suscriptor , que dios te bendiga.
Thank you for watching!
FYI, Most of those roof racks were antennas for the radio and my van was set up just like that/ that's why I know
Interesting. There is an antenna cable ran towards the rear of the roof. Ill check and see if it ties into the rack somehow.
Like the new trailer, y'all needed that badly. Now you have just a few projects to get finished. I had a 1977 Dodge Tradesman panel side van that I raced MX out of, and that thing had a 360, ran like a raped ape. No LS swap, do a hemi or a 440 swap if anything.
Thanks for sharing! I love the earlier front ends. The LS is a contingency plan in case the 318 was toast. It seams to be pretty healthy, so were sticking with it for now.
Mix bleach "strong", & detergent "strong", with water and wash down to remove stains & sanitize.
All of the ones you point out in the junkyard with "3 little windows" are Mark III conversion vans converted here in Ocala FL
No way! That’s cool.
Hi from England, I subscribed to your channel as it looked interesting. for content, just follow what you do to the van, mistakes and everything as we are humans. Along the way your family helps so that's a good thing. You will learn new skills as you go, and we watch the results, so it is all good eh. Enjoy your new journey. - Ian.
Thanks for the sub, Ian!
I would watch longer videos
I have my Mark III Dodge B2500. This guy needs to sell me his Pinto, and as a Disabled Veteran who has been a mechanic for more than 45 years, I'll come down and show him the proper way to recomission a vintage Mopar!!
Thank you for your service.
The front end is exactly like my 79 dodge Rockwood camper.
Awesome!
Hello from Germany, that is a nice save! I think videos of anywhere between 45 to 90 minutes would be great .
Thanks for watching and thanks for your input!
Notice your from Kerrville I live in Center Point I have a 99 dodge van you’re vans looking good
Thanks for watching from down the road!
I like the size of this video length. 1hr -2hr is probably fine.
Hey mate , I was recommended your channel by a friend in the States (I'm in New Zealand) , excellent stuff and what an awesome van!! Personally I think this would suit a series type format given the amount of work it's going to take, other more simple revivals can be done in maybe up to 2 hour videos, as I don't mind watching for that length of time. Great content though mate, look forward to more!
Thanks for subscribing and the input! Also, thanks to your friend for sharing our channel.
Use PB Blaster for rusted together metals to free up movement,
Id love to use PB Blaster if I could afford it.
Love your vids, maybe post a few short vids inbetween your hr long ones just to keep the viewers taste buds satisfied, i do think you should go back and rescue that ford econaline supervan on slots and whitewalls tho, that would make a cool wknd camper, the inside was stripd out ready for it, also love the way your whole family is so enthusiastic about the mural van, keep your vids coming dude🤙
Id love to save that Supervan. Maybe in the future if it's still sitting there. Thank you for watching!
you could put a stroker kit in the engine 318 becomes a 392 and 360 becomes a 408. there are so many options for the small block mopar now the prices have down you can build them as cheap as a chevy then lot less wiring
Im not opposed to that.
You should really save the van with the bull head on it! Reminds me of the A team van
I wish I could. That van was rad.
@@TexasHillbilly was... still is rad.
Thanks for the awesome content and awesome job on the van what year is it and very cool
Thank you! It’s a 79.
@@TexasHillbilly your welcome again I would love to see a second episode on the van my mom has one kinda like that but it is a camper and it is a 80 and she loves it
Love the van maybe paint the rear window trim silver, Can you show the cb radio?
I know I can make black match, but silver will be more difficult. If I can make it match well enough, I will try silver.
I believe that was the heat that was bypassed on the rear unit. Probably a leak in the heater core. If it also has rear air, the refrigerant lines will be aluminum.
Maybe so. It does have 4 lines running to it. Maybe two of them are high pressure hoses for refrigerant...?
@@TexasHillbilly yeah, should have a small line (liquid line) and a larger line (suction). The compressor looked rough like maybe the clutch and hub were seized.
Long videos are best
New sub... was just a quick blip what was that... a Ford Pinto in the driveway ? Love the van !
Good eye. There’s a whole series on rescuing the Pinto.
I'll have to check that out I'm in my 60s now but I had a 72 Ford Pinto and you could not kill that car it was one of the best cars I ever had you could beat the crap out of it it never let me down. My 74 Super Beetle was a good car as well. I can remember you could put retreads on it for like $35 and have all brand new tires those were the days. Cost very little to fill the tank and you can run around all weekend
HI its from western cape franschhoek and you are on the hoek
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for watching. Awesome to have so many new viewers from so far away!
Hour long episodes are fine.
TexasHillbilly: Somebody knew the complimentary color chart well when airbrushing that van; looks pretty cool. Nice to see you finally got a breakout video. Seems like the UA-cam stars lined up. I make shorts and am quite happy with the viewer reception and conservative growth of my channel. What happened to the FOX? German car made in Brazil fry your brain cells?.
Thank you. Yeah, it’s been nice seeing these stats these last few days. The fox is still here. We’ll get back on it soon.
The motor, a small block from the looks of it, If you decide to swap it, what motor would you replace it with? Me personally, I like the 'long-haul' recordings, because it lets somebody see the progress.
Thanks for your input. If the 318 kicks the bucket, I do have a 6.0/4L80 waiting for a new home. I know LS swaps are cliche now. But my focus is making it run reliably and decently economical for long trips. I want to be able to trust it. If you think about it, LS swaps are todays SBC swap.
Hour long videos are cool. Dividing the videos in parts is okay with me.
What's the latest updates on the Omni? My Omni is up & running. I had to replace the mechanical fuel pump. Next on the list is the replacement of the standard gauge cluster to the full gauge cluster. It should be a plug and play upgrade. I also have to find a re- manufactured power rack & pinion, mine is leaking out of all the seals, etc. Great video on the Dodge Van. It will take awhile but will be a great cruiser!!
Part 2 on the Omni maybe this weekend.
@@TexasHillbilly Oh okay, awesome! Thanks!
i love these big old school retro shaggy vans too bad the shaggy carpet was far too gone :(
Too long in the elements. It’s okay, we’ll get it back to par.
I'm catching you and your family from Iran your pld van my wish
Glad to have you watching! Thank you.
I see everything one time I’m a new though
From 1978 to 1998 parts will fit on your 79 dodge
Nice long production run. Do you know what years had the round headlights like mine? Was it just 78-79?
