"Eulogy" from Tool's "Ænima" album (1996).
I'll be honest, I never knew that the weird and quiet sound was actually a bass. I still think that it's just a bunch of weird noises. Great noises though! So, everything sounds fine and professional until the riff at 2:38 kicks in. Everything suddenly sounds out of tune and I really don't know why. Anyway, it all feels like a big downgrade from 2:38 because my low D string still sounds like garbage for some reason. One thing that's also worth mentioning is the riff at 5:20. It's all fine until you have to play these dissonant notes at 5:48. It just sounds wrong. I'm not going to do any more Tool covers until I fixed the problem with my low E string. Although this one doesn't bad the clankiness of "Jambi", I still feel like a bass shouldn't sound like mine does. Anyway, enjoy.
Some important information that nobody is going to read.
Tuning: D-A-D-G
Artist: Tool
Bassist: Justin Chancellor
Album: Ænima (1996)
Song: EULOGY
Bass: Ibanez SR1805
Never noticed the intro on bass. Sounds like right in two, good job man nice cover
That bass sound in the beginning reminds me of disposition on Lateralus or something from 10,000 days.
Sound like right in two at the beginning
Oh dude, I got my whammy two days ago! Eulogy, you're next!
Enjoy!
Gold man! Thanks again, this is one of the first tool songs that hit me back in the day, so it is so fun to play for me. It's almost as if my fingers know where to go before reading your tab... almost, but not really :)
So good!
Thanks man! I think this is actually also one of the first Tool songs I discovered on my own that I really, really loved and repeated for weeks.
This song is such a bop
^^^ SCAM
Thx for re uploading!!!
No problem!
Amazing, this one's next on the list
Good luck!
Bass towards the end at 5:11 sounds like Would? Alice chains intro
The bass intro also reminds me of that song "watch the weather change"
Disposition!
Great cover! I never noticed the bass riff in the beginning, nor the part right after it. The rest was about what I'd expect, Adam's and Justin's riffs tend to be very similar. My only complaint is that the 5-string tabs are a little bit confusing. I was under the impression you were playing on the A string when you were playing on the low D string
Thanks! That would also be my complaint to 19 year old me who just started putting out videos on the regular.

@@lucaspate1837 ok, give me YOUR bass cover please, since you know how to do it correctly
Paul D’amour wrote the bass part for this song
1000 thanks for this cover man
A pleasure :)
I wonder how would it sounds with your Warwick..amazing job anyway, keep it up!
That harmonic part at the beginning sounds amazing, but I don't hear anything resembling that on the track. There's a mild swell which sounds nothing like the part you showed, even when I pump the volume to max. In a few of their live performances, he plays some kind of harmonic riff, but still doesn't really sound like what you play, and Adam plays something along with it too. How did you get that riff? It just sounds so mesmerizing.
It is so unbelievably faint in the studio version of the song, faint to the point where I had to be in a quiet room and hold my phone speaker to my ear to barely hear it, but it's there 👌
Its definitely there I hear it.
It is there.
re-listen with headphones
Just ordered my whammy, can’t wait.
Yessss! It's really fun to play around with so enjoy once you have it!
LeoBassCovers Up until now I’ve been stuck using my fender mustang expression pedal to do the job, this will sound better for sure, plus I won’t need a separate preset for the diatonic pitch stuff.
LeoBassCovers Thanks for your Channel btw it’s wonderful
I think the low D sounds fine
Hey Leo I was wondering wat u think of this Ibanez sr1805 because I have one coming in this week?
Oof, you definitely shouldn't ask me that haha. I really didn't like it cause it just lacked bass for me. At times, it just felt like a semi-bass cause it had so much treble with whatever you were doing. It just didn't work for the covers I used. But it is a great bass still. I just didn't like it.
what are your flanger settings on?
Honestly can't remember..
Are you playing the low fifth string at all? I have a four string as my first bass and wondering if I should invest in a five string or just hold off. I'm kind of new to string instruments but I played alto sax for 15 years so at least I can understand the sheet music. Thanks for sharing! :)
Honestly, just ignore that 5th string in both the video and the tab. This video (along with some of the other older videos) is like 4-5 years old by now and for some reason, I decided to show the 5th string in the tab on screen. Tool is usually drop D so you don't touch the 5th string, ever. I'd say, hold off for now :)
@@LeoBassCovers2 Wow! Thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it. Tool is amazing. Saw them live in Winston Salem once. Started off with Lateralus back when it first came out and within a few weeks I had every album. Drop D sounds kicks ass, I understand why so many artists go that route. Now Deftones on the other hand, another favorite band of mine, all those crazy tunings, there's no way to ignore that fifth string I'm guessing. 🤣😂
No problem! And yeah, it's something a lot of bassists do really. Buying an extra 5 string to just play those songs. However, don't be fooled. A lot of 5 string basses are really awful basses, especially the cheaper ones. The same goes for the bass in this video, which I should after a year of recording with it. But once you have a decent 5 string, it feels sooo nice to play that low B.
Which pedal are you using? 😯
The DigiTech Bass Whammy :)
Why have you not done 46&2????
Cause CoverSolutions has already done it.
@@LeoBassCovers2 fair
You’re amazing and thank your for this.
But it’s a little awkward to watch this played on a five string redundantly. It’s probably better for those here to learn, to see you play it on a four string.
Thanks! This video was made almost 5 years ago and yeah.. I agree. Though I still play everything on a 5 string, I have changed and improved the onscreen tabs a lot over the years :)
sound like baris manco - gulpembe
I'd love to cover that one though
Checkmate
See the video is amazing but why is also amazing is that bass. What is that bass.
Thank you! It's a Ibanez SR1805
@@LeoBassCovers2 wait that’s an Ibanez that was not what I was expecting. To be fair I have a GSR200 and it sound’s beautiful but I wasn’t expecting Ibanez. Thank you
:| My whammy pedal is sick.. sounds like a dying cat.
Nooooo
That’s not the bass in the beginning because the sound in the beginning Justin Chancellor look it up
