There has been much discussion on the Allen Key size. Apparently there is variation based on production. .025, .035, .049, .050 seem to be used with .035 and .049 the most common.
This is excellent!! Thank you! I have the S&W M&P Shield 9mm crimson trace...with the GReen laser. I bought what I needed to replace the battery, thanks to you and your teaching....I have a functioning laser again!! Thanks again!!!
Thank you so much! I had a hard time taking the screw out because I kept turning and turning and it never seemed to loosen. Didnt realize it never fully came out and I just had to 'bang' it out. Thanks for this video
I just got my .035 allen keys off the net and they do not fit the Crimson Trace Laser. I just spoke with Crimson Trace and they said it was a .049 key for both battery replacement and site adjustment. The lady I spoke with was very nice and two keys are on the way! I'll keep the .035 keys as I have two Bodyguards and the other one originally had the Insight laser.
Just thought I would mention this for anyone who doesn’t know, if you laser needs a new battery and it’s a Crimson Trace, they do lifetime replacement on their batteries!
@@AxlesGarage they only send me 1 battery lol they said in thge email that they were gonna to send me a load for stock up but they lied ig i waited 3 months for one battery lol
My 40 shield came with the right size Allen to adjust laser and change the batteries but I had no clue I had to take the barrel off to get to the batteries
Thank YOU! I just got a new .380 with a laser, and it would not work, right out of the box. So, I did each step with you, and "Bingo," my batteries was changed. Captain Carpman
@@antionethegamer8292 You can call Crimson Trace and they will send you one, usually free, or buy a small set of Allen wrenches at a toll store, they are good to have around the house.
I tried to change battery on my M&P Shield 2.0 with integrated Green Crimson Trace, but the laser part doesn't seem want to come off. Any difference btwn Bodyguard 380 and M&P Shield 2.0?
I have a shield 2.0 with a crimson trace laser, my batteries need changed, but the screw is stuck in the laser and I can’t get the laser out of the frame
Don’t pop the actual screw out, the laser housing. Lol. Before someone damages their stuff. It literally required next to no pressure, so it should come right out.
The screw is a captured screw. It’s not supposed to come all the way out. Push slightly forward on the rear of the laser while pushing the pin tool through the bottom of the frame.
Can't get the screw to catch after replacing the batteries , Yikes . . . I need this firearm for when I drive to work. Any thoughts on getting the screw back in ? Help
Alas, the moment you remove the laser sight assembly (well, actually once you start to loosen the hold-down screw) you've lost the zeroing. Replace the batteries, and back to the range to zero in, again. Hmm, how long do the batteries last? Not how long you had them in, because obviously you kept them until the beam was very weak. To keep the beam bright (especially for red lasers that disappear in bright light compared to green lasers), what is the replacement interval? Yes, how much you use the sight affects longevity of the battery, but I would suspect the recommended replacement interval is a year to make sure you actually have it usable for the next year. Before purchasing the S&W M&P 9 M2.0 Shield, I wanted to see how the battery gets changed. Thanks for showing that. Oh, and as for the metal sticker atop the laser assembly, you might be able to get foil tape to cut to size to put on top to seal those openings. The hardware store should have 1.5 mil aluminum foil tape. Besides cleaning solution, sealing the openings would also keep out powder.
I never really use the laser so the original batteries lasted about 3 years. I use the iron sights at the range. I bought it new, but second hand. I would not have gotten the laser option otherwise.
Ok I put fresh new batteries it clicked when I put them in but why does my laze sometimes don’t turn on like I retake the battery out and put it in and sometimes it doesn’t turn on or it turns on and turns off like the battery’s are not fully put in good but it is and sometimes it works fine but once I put the laser back into the gun and tight it up with the Allen wrench it doesn’t turn on and now it turns on for a bit and then just turns off? Can anyone help me
Awesome so it’s just a pair of 357 batteries, I remember the clerk at the store told me to register the trace laser with S&W and not lose the sticker because they will send you free replacement batteries maybe once a year or so, which is pretty cool’
Axle's Garage It’s the Crimson Trace Warranty! www.crimsontrace.com/support/free-batteries-for-life/ And thank you, I just put in some new batteries! I was worried that the reason they offered that warranty was because they used some special or rare battery that’s not easy to get, but 357, had a couple lying around!

LOL, Thanks Larry. I don't pick the ads that run, UA-cam actually picks the ads specifically for the user (you). They look at your watch history and pick ads they think would target you.
Not sure if your married but I honestly told my fiance I will tattoo a ring on my finger. Its cheaper and can't complain can't take it off lol helpful video by the way. Success on my end

If you can't get the screw out, you should go to a gunsmith before anything gets damaged.
I have the same gun. And the same problem
Same gun, same problem. Just very lightly put a flat head in the crease above the screw and pop it out!

Does the Crimson trace come installed on this Smith and Wesson 45ACP from the factory or what?
It no longer does. However, if you do have a shield 45ACP, the CT LG-485-g will fit it.
I keep the tiny parts in the boxes. I keep the boxes in shelving units.

Maybe it's not seated all the way???
Any tips on why my lazer light won't turn off
Contact Crimson Trace, there is an internal malfunction
I have a insight laser would the batteries still work they’re pretty much the same laser so I wouldn’t see why not
Would be very similar.
I was about to turn because this isn't my laser until I heard him tell the dog to shut up 🤣🤣🤣

Not without modification. The frame is specifically molded for the Crimson Trace laser.
