My phone has OLED as well and it makes such a huge different. The colours are so much more vibrant. Looking forward to seeing games like Pokémon or Mario on the OLED screen.
Out of the three, the OG Switch is kinda the best used in TV mode, the Lite is the best handheld version and the OLED one is the best for tabletop play. Roughly speaking.
I second this. Sure it looks nice for the OLED but 99.99% I’ve been playing on TV and pro controller. The battery life for for OG switch was already horrible, I can’t imagine if using OLED display.
I really like how Nintendo is giving people more and better features and options lately with console revisions instead of removing them. The Gamecube and Wii both removed key features on all new models for their console revisions(Digital out for GC, GC support for Wii, Wifi removal, and automatic disc tray in Wii mini). With the switch, they increased the battery life the first time around, gave people a cheap option for handheld only(still okay), and this time they did a more refined switch (Vastly improved kickstand, bigger more vibrant screen with same battery life, improved dock, improved vent fins, upgraded base storage capacity, improved speakers, while maintaining full compatibility with all accessories backwards and forwards). I don't know if Nintendo plans to phase out the v2 switch, but it sure would be okay if they put the oled price at $300. This isn't an upgrade worthy system to me but I love the option.
Because surely they were going to release a model with increased performance, effectively making the other 84 million units they sold obsolete to the benefit of a minority of "enthusiasts" who make up probably less than 5% of the entire Switch owners demographic while also expecting to sell games.
Yeah it cracks me up people think they would do something like that 4 years into the Switch's life cycle when it's STILL topping the console sales charts.
@@zarqornd6881 Not really, since most of the userbase still had the base consoles or the equivalent slim/S variants, so it would've been dumb to tailor the games to the upgraded versions.
I see what you guys mean with the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One, but I think that this is a different case. The Pro version of those consoles were intended to offer a more ehntusiast-oriented experience while the base consoles were meant to be the standard 1080p/30fps. Sadly, that is not the case for the base Switch. It's mid generation and it struggles to maintain even sub 720p resolustions at a stable framerate. From our point of view it does make sense to release a Pro version because we want our games to be playable. But we run into a few problems. Do they keep developing games mainly for the standard Switch and use a Pro revision just for resolution/stable fps? Here's not a case of more fps/resolution, it's a case of making game meet a playable standard. How would they justify a Pro variant that runs games in 30fps while they run constantly in the 25-to-20 range on the standard model? I don't think that people would suddenly go like "yes, it's ok to have sub 540p games run at 20fps because a Pro variant exist". That simply wouldn't be acceptable. It's strange, but I think they are much more likely to force everyone deal with unstable framerates and low resolutions than release a Pro variant where 1) only a minority of people will buy it and games for it and 2) risk to start seeing drops in game sales because the standard Switch with 84 million units sold is considered the "unplayable" version.
Do you all think a true "switch pro" is still in the works? Or is this all we're getting? I play docked almost always... I don't really see this as a big step up
@@TreadTheDonutDuck maybe. But I feel as if nintendo has to know that people want a performance upgrade. And the only upgrade here is the screen. Same internal machine... it seems disappointing to me.
I hope they release the switch and dock separately as well, I couldn’t really care less about the LAN port so I find the price a bit too high for what it’s worth.
The funny part about all this is that people are trying to get Nintendo to focus on cutting-edge hardware. That hasn't been their focus since the console war with Sega back in the 90s. Nintendo has been focusing on unique and interesting games while bolstering their own IP. If you want a cutting-edge handheld, buy an Aya Neo. If you want access to a library of good first-party titles, then by yourself a Switch.
I'm thankful that it isn't the Switch Pro, because I don't know about anyone else, but I HATE it when a new console revision comes out that gives people a bigger boost in hardware power, when most of us don't have the money to buy a brand new Switch revision which simply just has better hardware. I can't afford a new Switch, and I'm certainly not gonna purchase it just for 4K. I would spend money on a UI revision however lol; the Switch's UI feels so rushed, unfinished and lifeless.
The thing is, this is a "pro" version; a second pro version, to be exact. UA-camrs' and enthusiasts' definition of "pro", and Nintendo's definition of "pro", are 2 different things.
Utterly disappointed unless you don't have a switch already I see very little reason to upgrade especially since nothing has been changed on the inside

@@mattmanley7118 I only mentioned it because you said "nothing" has been changed on the inside. But you're definitely right regarding the use of an SD Card
(I’m going to put the same thing I put on another video here.) Honestly, I’m not disappointed like most people. The Switch doubles as Nintendo’s Handheld and they did stuff like this with the 3DS and DS all the time. They should’ve called it the Switch XL, because that’s what it seems to be. I think the leaks kind of ruined the reveal though, similar to 3D All-Stars. Rumors claimed that collection would remake three Mario games, when they ended up just being ports. Still great in my opinion, but the leaks put people’s expectations too high. I think the same thing is happening here, where the leakers made this look like the “ULTIMATE SWITCH” with really good performance and enhanced graphics that would compete with Xbox and PlayStation’s new consoles. (I still think the Switch is better than those consoles because of its games) In the end, everybody should just keep their expectations low so they don’t get disappointed. If you are considering buying a Switch for the first time, get this one. If you already have a Switch, you probably shouldn’t get it.
Would've liked Bluetooth headphone support. A better Bluetooth chip would probably also make it so the Switch's controllers don't feel laggy when you are using a lot of them on the same console
I’m bummed it’s essentially a new screen. Would’ve loved even a slight upgrade to CPU/GPU or really any performance enhancing components. The white looks slick though.
So this revision is mostly focused on enhancing the hardware as opposed to the software. The only remaining hardware annoyance would be the lack of Bluetooth headphone support. They’ll probably wait to add higher resolutions or DLSS for a 2023 revision, or the Switch’s successor. I’m betting on the successor having more VR compatibility.
I think this is exactly what a mid life upgrade should look like. More storage space, upgraded features, but not like an entire next Gen console several years early. The mid life console upgrades IMO should not replace the older models, and are often used to charge the consumers twice as often for a new console because the old model is now obsolete (looking at New 3DS)
There's a comparison on Nintendo's website that shows the battery life between the V2 and OLED model are the same: 5.5-9 hours depending on what you play.
The heat vent is better too. My OG Switch's vent started breaking apart from the heat, while my V2's is fine. The issue is how I can, at any moment, pick up my V2 in the wrong way and accidentally break the vent because it's so fragile. So the improvement on the OLED model is nice.
@@TheMorbidHobo That's hardly noticeable on smaller screens. Like 720p on my tablet vs 720p on my smaller phone don't look much different. Just one is a bigger screen.
Crazy that we still haven’t got an upgraded joycon
Or, you know, one that works
That kick stand should make it better at rooftop stands
Because surely they were going to release a model with increased performance, effectively making the other 84 million units they sold obsolete to the benefit of a minority of "enthusiasts" who make up probably less than 5% of the entire Switch owners demographic while also expecting to sell games.
Lol no, nobody ever claimed that. You can do a performance upgrade while still supporting the base console 100%, see New 3DS, PS4 Pro, Xbox One X.
Worked fine for 3DS, PS4, and X Box One. Series X/S has this out the gate.
Improved audio could potentially be one of the low-key best parts

Remember how there were like 5 different models of the 3DS? This is like that. This is why you should never trust Reddit rumors.
I'm sorry, but the switch that we actually all wanted is in another castle........
