Exactly like the 3DS XL with the bigger screen that's still 240p. This has a bigger screen that's still 720p. Now, people asking for 4k are insane, but I don't think a 1080p screen is too much to ask for when my four year old Walmart phone can do it.
Then a year and half they released the new 3ds (and pretty much fuck everyone that though the XL was the last model... That kill my trust in them forever -_-).
Completely underwhelming for the crowd that plays in docked mode. I would think that OLED would have been better for a Switch Lite version. @@joshuamelton1633 I think the Screen is a good addition for both the lite and regular switch. ESPECIALLY the increased screen size, because those bezels are stupid big and wasted real estate. But yeah, for docked players pretty much an useless addition. And also not really worth upgrading to, sicne that would be a steep price to basically justify a bigger screen. Sure it got a new Kickstand, which is cool, better speakers I guess, for those who actually bother and a Lan Port on the Dock, but those are pretty damn minor things. A slight performance boost certainly would have been nice. And an 1080p Screen. 4K Docked and 1080p mobile (without performance loss) would have been a damn great thing, but that's Nintendo I guess.
The switch pro rumors were based on nothing more than the desire of the people to not have such a weak system. I don’t think Nintendo ever implied that was realistic
No more iconic duo than the gaming community and setting themselves up with unrealistic expectations lmao I suppose the most exciting rumors will always rise to the top, just the nature of hype culture
I do believe that the switch pro will just end up to be the next model who will take over the original switch instead of being the same system with 4k feature
@UnjustifiedRecs even if a pro comes out it will be a small bump in power like the new 3ds, not some magic tablet that will play everything, the tech for that is still too expensive
True however weak compared to what? Compared to the two set top box competitors consoles? Sure its weaker and thats to be expected, its a hybrid portable console. I wasn't expecting 4k 60fps high demanding games. I got what I expected a powerful efficient portable hybrid thats able to run most not all but most 3rd party games from the bigger much more powerful competators. I think games like doom eternal look amazing on the switch despite the 30fps and blurred textures. Is it ps4 level? Heck no! But thats to be expected for such a small form factor. Gamers complain about the switch power like they didn't know it was never going to compete or go head to head with ps4 and xbox one on a graphical level. In order to be at that level the switch would of cost close to $500.00! People act like games such as doom eternal looks like an n64 game compared to the ps4 version. Most ports like doom eternal, witcher 3, overwatch, aliens, crysis and others look and run great for a small portable console hybrid. Gamers need to enjoy the switch for what it can do and stop worrying about what they believe it should do.
How can that not be, when he uploads early in the morning? If the video is ready by morning, Doesn't that imply that he edits the video BEFORE? Like, the night before? Like, when the news didn't exist?

@@SEiMEi_EXiSTS I think if they made the joy cons bigger it might fix the drift issue. They are to small for the abuse of gaming. I cringe ever time I put a joy con in my hand. Feels cheap to me. But can you use a controller with the switch in hand held mode?
Joycons are trash, even if they didn't drift I'd still hate them. Cheap, uncomfortable, bad layout, they are the actual worst Nintendo controller ever. I'd rather waggle a wiimote.
@Anderz42 i actually picked up the X-machina customs the put out because they are bigger and fit my hands. Sadly i get no use out of them because well honestly docked is better lol
I don't even need more gaming power. As we can see by the existing games Nintendo is able to make nice games for the Switch with the current power. The things I need are a fix for the drifting issue and dedicated gaming servers. Luckily it doesn't even need a new Switch revision for those fixes, but sadly that Nintendo still doesn't care. I'd also love to see N64 and GC games on the internet service. Those things should be done before a new Switch revision, because what's the point in more power, if games are unplayable due to drifting and bad internet service? Since I don't like to buy new Joycons every 3-6 months, I seldom play on my Switch anymore and even bought an XBox for the very first time.

I've been avoiding all of the Nintendo based channels for the past few months just because nobody would shut up about it how they were SURE it would have 4K 60 FPS from Nintendo, the king of budget(for their wallet) over performance. The new 3DS only had 5 exclusives and a lot of people weren't really happy about it, considering that the only good games out of that batch was Minecraft and a watered down port of Xenoblade Chronicles. I like how the video started with “Well there’s been talk about some new Nintendo Switch for years now” yeah man you were the one talking about it every day 😂
This doesn't surprise me, because I pay attention to how Nintendo has handled their portables since the beginning. This is essentially the XL Switch revision, similar to the XL versions of the DS and 3DS. It doesn't necessarily void the possibility of a Switch Pro. But there is a decent chance that, if these rumors are based on anything. It was a misunderstanding of what this model was.

You raise an excellent point about the focus on portability. If anything, I would have liked to see something like the PlayStation TV: a simple black or white box with enhanced hardware capabilities and a Pro Controller in the package instead of Joy-Cons. That way, you would have three distinct flavors of Switch: the original hybrid, the cheaper portable-only one, and the enhanced TV-only one.
If they could get it around $100-150. That would be great. I think Joycons and a holder would be a better value since we would 'technically' have two controllers out of the box, and I think a pro controller is cheaper than a set of Joycons?
Can't wait for the podcast this weekend! At least an hour of people trying to say how they were right even though nothing happened how they said it would.
The interesting thing is that these chips they're using are rated for much higher performance than any switch has ever done (without being hacked) ... A hacked switch can reach the CPU and graphics speeds the chip was designed for, and if a firmware update happens, Nintendo could make this and all Mariko switches run at full speed , and that would make most games run at 720p 60fps / 1080p 30-60 fps (docked) without much if any resolution drops or frame drops in games.
@@jeja6801 a 10-50% boost in performance in handheld mode would do only a few minutes less on total battery life, but stabilize almost all games to basically 720p 60fps (30fps for some) And any boost in performance to docked mode would do 0 damage to battery life.

So if you’re only using it handheld then you should buy a Lite
I never play the Switch docked, so I'll be picking it up this holiday. I'm fine with buying another Switch with how much playtime I get out of it on the go daily. I'll be handing mine down to my little brother, so hey, 2 birds 1 stone: I get a new Switch and an easy present.
As someone who has been thinking of getting a new switch due to having mine since launch, and battery fatigue for it setting in, this is a welcome update. The dock especially will be nice as I currently buy USB Ethernet adapters for all my docks: my 3 in the house and my 1 traveling packed one, and I hope it is true gigabit, not gigabit adapter running at 10/100 fast Ethernet
This actually gets me thinking. If the 4K resides in the dock, why not just make a Pro Dock accessory that can upscale any Switch and sell it separately?
The Switch itself is partially (I believe about 70% when I read the report years ago, but might be wrong) responsible for playing on the big screen. So both Switch and dock would need to endure what power is needed to get 4k out of it. To be fair, a $500 Switch should do it, since a lot of phones can already output at 4k.
For me, this is great because I still use the launch switch without the upgraded chip, my screen has back light bleed, and I barely play docked mode. Literally a perfect storm for me! Definitely buying it!
They probably did this on purpose as most people buy it for "second console" and it would fit perfect next to a PS5 (which will dominate the market) and also cause white color in electric devices is a trend nowdays.

If this was meant to get people to want to upgrade, it would have been announced in a direct, or at E3, instead, it was a Twitter drop letting people in the market for a switch know, there’s a third option. I think the market is more for people who play handheld, but might not have access to a bigger screen for docking, like people living in very densely populated countries?

Exactly like the 3DS XL with the bigger screen that's still 240p. This has a bigger screen that's still 720p. Now, people asking for 4k are insane, but I don't think a 1080p screen is too much to ask for when my four year old Walmart phone can do it.
Then a year and half they released the new 3ds (and pretty much fuck everyone that though the XL was the last model... That kill my trust in them forever -_-).

Completely underwhelming for the crowd that plays in docked mode. I would think that OLED would have been better for a Switch Lite version. Uhh ok

That kickstand is the stability update I've been waiting for.
The switch pro rumors were based on nothing more than the desire of the people to not have such a weak system. I don’t think Nintendo ever implied that was realistic
No more iconic duo than the gaming community and setting themselves up with unrealistic expectations lmao
I suppose the most exciting rumors will always rise to the top, just the nature of hype culture
I do believe that the switch pro will just end up to be the next model who will take over the original switch instead of being the same system with 4k feature
@UnjustifiedRecs this
@UnjustifiedRecs even if a pro comes out it will be a small bump in power like the new 3ds, not some magic tablet that will play everything, the tech for that is still too expensive

No one: Let’s improve everything about the switch EXCEPT it’s gaming power
I don't even need more gaming power. As we can see by the existing games Nintendo is able to make nice games for the Switch with the current power. The things I need are a fix for the drifting issue and dedicated gaming servers. Luckily it doesn't even need a new Switch revision for those fixes, but sadly that Nintendo still doesn't care. I'd also love to see N64 and GC games on the internet service.
Those things should be done before a new Switch revision, because what's the point in more power, if games are unplayable due to drifting and bad internet service? You raise an excellent point about the focus on portability. If anything, I would have liked to see something like the PlayStation TV: a simple black or white box with enhanced hardware capabilities and a Pro Controller in the package instead of Joy-Cons. That way, you would have three distinct flavors of Switch: the original hybrid, the cheaper portable-only one, and the enhanced TV-only one.

I still wish it had bluetooth and 4k output with dlss but ohwell... maybe next switch
Same this is perfect for people that have had 1 switch for 3 or 4 years now
This actually gets me thinking.

Nintendo always dissapoints, this is a big Nintendo Fail.
They may have dissapointed you but I doubt it will dissapoint them and their investors. Of course people looking for a new switch would think about spending the extra $50 for a superior model
@@tupops You are far from ever being an investor with that poor information you manage. The Switch market is stagnant?
They sold 37% more units in this year compared to the previous one. The company's anual net income: 2017: 900 million ; 2018: 1250 million ; 2019: 1750 million ; 2020: 2380 million. Yeah man those investors must be hella mad!!
@@tupops the current sales say otherwise
@@tupops Haha dude you're clueless. Software upgrade? They make killer games and sell hundreds of millions of them. It's japan's number one company and they are 130 years old. Shorting Nintendo stocks? Haha stay away from finance or you'll end up broke
@@ultimate9056 they've dissapointed investors many times before, they will do it again, it has dissapointed many fans today, go look at Twitter.
Underwhelming after waiting 4 years for a new beefier Switch. Looks like the wait continues.
Here's the thing, a bunch of people bought the og switch during covid. All those people would be mad if an new all better switch pro came out
You can keep on waiting but that switch pro isn't coming. The only situation in that I see the switch pro becoming a thing is if it's Nintendo's next console and for the extra 50, the OLED is fine (Considering you don't have switch that is)
It's clear as a bell that Nintendo is following the exact same structure they did with the 3DS. Which would make this the "XL" version.
So I'm just going to go ahead and wait for the "new" Nintendo switch.
As I'm pretty sure that's what they're going to be doing next before the switch 2 or whatever the true next gen version is years and years down the road most likely somewhere around the 10 year mark so 2027 I guess.
@@Biotyn The switch is always selling that's no excuse. They should also stop overcharging for it.
Here you go everyone, eat your heart’s out lol
Anyone predicting a 4k oled switch was certifiably delusional!
Is it though? Every big time report that reported on the OLED model absolutely backed their claims with DLSS 4K tech. It wasn't a delusional idea considering so many verified leaders corroborated this same leak. 4K DLSS tech on a Switch is entirely doable
It's a massive let down that this model brings absolutely nothing new other than a screen, so much opportunity
@@GoodlyPenguin
Nice cope.
@@davidbronstein2040 How is it cope? I literally don't give a shit about buying a Switch OLED since it offers no substantial upgrades than the latest model Switch on the store shelves right now. Keep typing "cope" and "seethe" even though I'm right.
If Nintendo doesn't fix the joy-cons drifting problem, there's no meaning of a new Switch revision... That's just for me.
How is it that so many of you have this issue. I have 6 joycons since 2017 and they're all fine. But also, can't you get the replaced for free?
"dock is curved so it's a little bit premium" -___-
the dock feels like empty box made of plastic
Don't reach too far you'll pull something.
@Ben Law right over your head, huh?
I just want a locked 60fps, you can keep 4K
Me too
Welp, good this one has neither.
atleast stable 30fps
I agree a solid 60fps would be more important than 4k.
How about neither?
I haven't heard anyone address the issue of the 0.1 inch increase in length. I'm sure we are all going to need new accessories to fit this...
This is an interesting reveal...personally, I think I'll stick with my launch Switch for now. I'm somewhat relieved that there will not be exclusive "OLED Model Only" games (Mainly because of aggressive scalping of systems nowdays). Also, I play docked mode almost exclusively, so no real benefit to upgrade for me.
As for the model itself, it looks good. I really like the white color.
Bless you dude, that's a reasonable stance to take. Also for what it's worth, those joy-cons are the same as the current models. Which means they are susceptible to drift... but if you want a white pair they should be available fairly soon.
I called it, only young gamers would think that Nintendo was going to launch a Switch Pro, they never released a "Pro" version, just a model that's slightly better than the last one.
It’s not even better tbh. No battery or graphic changes and still the same joycons.
Ahh so the Game Boy Color, DSi, and New 3DS never happened then? I guess a ton of my childhood just never happened before
I don't even expect there to be pro models of the Series X and PS5.
@@dbclass2969 the DSi was a ds with camera and the new 3DS was a 3ds with slightly better power. The gb color doesn't count because it's basically a new console.
@@steveluna1627 Actually the GameBoy Color is built on the same hardware, they just added some power to make it compatible with color lcd screens. It's the same as the new 3DS.
I don’t even care much about a 4K switch I care a lot more about being able to run games at a stable 60 fps
Enjoy that 20 fps a bit longer Nintendo can't compete with Xbox or ps5
@@chaikagaz ya lol that’s why I have a series X so I’ll only have to enjoy my 5-25 FPS for Nintendo games
With no joycon upgrade or 4k I feel like the oled would benefit the mini better. But the Lan port is nice especially if you play online a lot.
Nintendo has online play? What, no way?
@@GODCONVOYPRIME I didn't say it has online now!??! I said it has a Lan port, which will be a more stable connection. Smh
For some reason, I think Nintendo Japan are having a party drinking Piña Colada made of tears from everybody speculating for a Switch Pro.
The current Switch's "kickstand" is a glorified plastic paperclip haha. It feels like it will snap at any moment
Nintendo Switch (OLED Model). Hey, at least its a better name than the New Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo: How can we get rid of our older hardware before the pro version?
Actually yeah, sinister but smart. Then if they did a Pro soon after, I'd be mad and sorry for all those that got baited with literally nothing
This was the rumored pro version. But I’m sure every UA-cam channel is going to be like “seriously guys it’s still coming I’m super serious!” 🤦🏻♂️
Ah, at least, the Nintendo Switch XL
Ethernet built in helps the docked experience. Multiplayer gaming over Wifi lag is a real problem. Using a USB adapter for Ethernet was a real savor for the current system. Adding the Ethernet was a must. That said, I'll be keeping my current model for now.
Very good details!! I missed that change on the dock slots when I looked at the data on the website but you, sir, have a very good eye. I was looking forward for your vid since the announcement and you never fail. Now, I can't wait to get your hands on this new OLED model and dissect the dock. Like you, I feel like there is something about the dock. Keep it up!
