I think Pandora's Tower and the last Story would be great ported to Switch in HD. Metroid Prime Trilogy is an obvious choice too. Though not a wii game Skyrim's joycon motion control support on Switch was actually quite fun - so there is scope to add motion controls to games that didn't have it before. If we are talking about porting games to Switch though, I think that the new OLED model has real scope to make the Labo VR viable again - particularly for porting 3DS games with the 3D intact. Games that make good use of the 3DS's slider like A Link Between Worlds could look really good in VR on the OLED screen, and the increased resolution of the screen could make Breath of the Wild's VR mode actually playable too.
I don't want to say that this video makes two generations of Nintendo motion control feel like a waste, but man, there are so many Wii/Wii U games work without it. I don't know if these ports are a testament to the original games, or just a statement on how little motion control really added to a lot of Wii games. (Not all of them, obviously)
You have a good point. I know Nintendo always wants to do something new, but their obsession with innovation is often more of a hindrance than a benefit. Like you said, the fact that so many of their games work just as good, if not better, without their gimmicks shows that they don't NEED to reinvent the wheel with every system they put out.
Well, it is kinda true. That's still the major flaw most Wii titles had, being locked to requiring motion controls. Many of them have really been improved without them.
I'm still confused why the IR camera on the right joy-con hasn't been utilised as a Wiimote-like pointer as yet. I realise that this would put the buttons upside-down but surely we could get an accessory that essentially places the joy-con inside of a Wii Remote shaped controller shell and remaps the buttons? I really feel like this is the reason we didn't get Galaxy 2 in 3D All-Stars so would love to see both of these things become a reality.

I wonder why Nintendo doesn't keep offset the pointer to just the center of screen everytime you start pressing the aim button. I mean people usually assume they are pointing at the center of the screen everytime they start pointing right?

@@synon7449 As much as I love that console I've always thought many things happened in that era so Nintendo, kinda, reacted. Like a kick in the balls that is hard to see, but necessary. And of course, the 3rd party support that the Switch DOES have
I'm really happy that all these wii games are on the switch. But the one that I'm happy about the most is Xenoblade Chronicles. I used to have it for the 3Ds but back then I couldn't really get into it because I was too stupid to understand the mechanics of the game. But after playing the second game on the switch I decided to buy the Definitive Edition and I just love playing it. Definitely my favorite game of all time for me now

It gives you a good idea of the huge audience that switch is reaching, allowing for a lot of variety: games for fitness, games with motion controls, traditional rpgs, SNES/NES games, puzzle games, fighting games, all of the Nintendo franchises. It really feels like a come back to the Wii/DS era, in software, in hardware capabilities/gameplay mechanics, and sales.
After 10 years, this is the first I hear about the sensor bar being used in Skyward Sword hahaha. That may explain why I was constantly having to calibrate it. I would remove the sensor bar when playing zelda, so I calibrated every time I used a pointing ability
The one thing I used to do with my Nintendo Wii is take it with me everywhere I go along with my portable television and I would just plug it into walls. But I think this is a good idea. The one wii remastered game I think would be pretty cool (but I doubt it) is new Super Mario Bros Wii
Great video! All I need is Donkey Kong Country Returns, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid Other M, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 to be ported to Switch and then I can comfortably disconnect my Nintendo Wii from my TV
Metroid Prime Trilogy needs to happen by now giving us not only motion as an option but updated stick controls as well would be brilliant and I don’t imagine too difficult of a conversion
Everyone wants Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch, but how do you translate the motion puzzles in 3 to the Switch Lite? You had to put your Wiimote forward and rotate it to progress, is that gonna make people toss their Lites across a room?
I'd love to see Return to Dreamland come to Switch. Maybe put it in a bundle with Amazing Mirror, Nightmare in Dreamland, Super Star Ultra, and Squeak Squad. Bring those old GBA and DS games into widescreen while leaving the pixel graphics alone, maybe bring in more complex movesets into Amazing Mirror and Nightmare in Dreamland, and bring in online multiplayer.
@@AngelEMtz Kirby and the Amazing Mirror and Return to Dreamland are such awesome 2D platformers. I really wanna see them make another game like Amazing Mirror. I love the concept of Kirby Metroidvania.
Doesn’t one of the joy con have an IR sensor? Maybe it would be possible for Nintendo to release a sensor bar for switch and then boom you’ve got your wii remote back.
Wait, so I’m not crazy when I say that the motion controls on the Wii do. Better job than the motion controls on the switch? I also feel that the Wii remote and nunchuck feel better in hand than the joy cons when they are detached from the switch. In fact when I play switch, majority of the time it’s pro controller. Can anybody also say the same things that I am saying?
The gyro controls on switch ARE better but wii games use the ar sensor for the position of the pointer and instead the switch has to compensate for the loss of ar by using its improved gyro which doesn't work perfectly. Skyward swords combat doesnt use ar and is just gyro and the switch easily beats the Wii version in accuracy for that sort of thing. Also yeah everyone has been saying the joy cons are uncomfortable since the switch released and the wiimote and nunchuk were designed for one play style while the joycon had to be designed for several.
Would be pretty easy for Nintendo to add actual Wii remote support to the Switch. Just update the firmware and release a USB sensor bar or adapter. Not really needed as the Joycon gyro works well enough
It's in such an awkward position, though. Puts the buttons at the very bottom of the remote, making them difficult to access, and the R & ZR buttons are effectively useless. I'm thinking they should actually release a Wii Remote style controller for the Switch.
I hope Nintendo ports Galaxy 2 to the Switch. I'm tired of having to set up the Wii sensor bar on my TV. I just don't want to have to pay full price for it.
They gave us Mario Galaxy, Sonic Colors is on its way, Skyward Sword is here, and DKC Now all I need are Galaxy 2, Kirby’s return to Dreamland, and Super Paper Mario
I still have my Gamecube flaps, they're sitting next to my Wii I believe. For years I didn't even know they were flaps and that there were controller ports underneath, I just left them closed because I had no idea they even opened lol. Also, can Super Mario Galaxy please be available on the Switch again, and Galaxy 2 as well? (I already have 3D All-Stars, and both games plus 64 and Sunshine on my Wii which is still working perfectly, but still!)
Sonic Colors and No More Heroes (some of my favorite games) got Wiimakes, so while backwards compatibility would've been nice, I'm still fairly happy! 0:22 I am *so glad* you started with Muramasa the Demon Blade. That was a really great game. I'd loove to see a Wiimake of that and some others: MadWorld, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and even WiiWare like Bit.Trip (series), Lost Winds (series), Art Style (series), Gyrostarr... And while we're at it, there's a couple Gamecube and Nintendo handheld games that would be nice to get rereleases... Viewtiful Joe, Sonic Advance (series), Sonic Battle, Sonic Rush (series), Kirby Squeak Squad...
I was thinking about this too, Wii games look perfect on Switch, they look just how they should look if they did Wii U correctly. But they choose to emulate a Wii...
@@diegone080 I meant the look, I though it was clear repeating it two times in the same phrase xD Wii's resolution is not Wii U's resolution, so any Wii game or Wii app won't look as good on a Wii U as they do ported to the Switch with the new resolution. Wii U should had have the option to upgrade at least the resolution of the games by the console itself.
I was gonna ask why no one has mentioned this here? Being spoon-fed decade old games with next to no additional content or changes isn't a good thing for the consumer in any way. I'd fork out 50/60 for maybe a HD collection (like Mass Effect Trilogy) but no way am I justifying that for one wii game that's higher res.
Another interesting port was Go Vacation. It's kinda like Wii Sports Resort, but the island is a semi-open world. The Switch port added new features like a photo mode and restaurants. My Wii ports wishlist would be Super Paper Mario, Epic Mickey, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story and Wii Sports Resort.
I still have my Wii U set up and Wii games look great on it displayed on a modern tv. The only one of the Switch Wii/Wii U ports I’ve bought so far is the Mario collection, I just don’t feel like they’re worth it. I am however very interested in picking up Skyward Sword. I hated the motion controls on SS so I’m definitely interested in trying the button controls. Edit: just seen another post. All that said, it would be great to see some ports of Wii games that are horrendously expensive in the second hand market, like Fire Emblem and The Last Story.

What's that game at 8:05? The one where you're fishing.
I LOVE Super Mario Galaxy and I NEED the second on Switch!
5 years from now: "The Nintendo something is becoming the Switch 4K"

Unless we’re getting a Ninjabread Man remaster, I’m *not* interested *at all*!
If the cookie doesn't crumble this time around. Otherwise, the dough is a no-go,
My favorite 20 minute long game
Lol
It's impossible because DDI no longer exist
We could get somebody else to remaster it then.
Still waiting for Twilight Princess for the Switch. They already did the work on Wii U. Just please bring it over to switch.
They might do a double pack with WWHD
@@QueenslayerSora that’s what I’m hoping for. Nintendo really is awful and giving their fans what they want lol but by George we still love them to death
@@QueenslayerSora Nintendo has become too stingy to do a Zelda double pack
@@FakYuhGoogel I feel like they doing the same thing with Mario remember that we had 3D world before 3D all star so they wanted to get SSHD settled and if BOTW2 gets pushed back then we get the double pack
@@QueenslayerSora I still doubt that Nintendo would release those two Zelda games for $60 combined. I do think that they will release multiple Zelda games until BotW2 comes out though, so aside from those two, we could see a $70 double pack of OoT 3D and MM 3D for Switch.
I wonder why Nintendo doesn't keep offset the pointer to just the center of screen everytime you start pressing the aim button. I mean people usually assume they are pointing at the center of the screen everytime they start pointing right?
The switch has been a massive port machine the last few years. I wonder how the switch library would be without the various Wii and Wii U re-releases.
Someone compiled all first party exclusives along with some 2nd party ones, and, welp, still quite a lot of games even removing the ports! Sadly I cannot find the image but its library standing by itself is still quite strong
@@MrDiana1706 I saw that. That’s why I said the last couple of years. The majority of those exclusives were made in the first year.
@@synon7449 oh, ok i get it. Yeah, specially 2020, although the reasons in that as we know is beyond anyone even Nintendo. Right now there's Advance Wars and atleast that's more of testing the waters than making filler
@@MrDiana1706 pretty sure Nintendo knows why they themselves are pushing out so many ports lol. Safe to assume it’s to fill out the gaps in the release schedule and present those games over to a new audience. I just can’t help but wonder, if the “failure” of a system that is the Wii U didn’t exist nor the games that came with it, what would the switch’s library look like.
@@synon7449 As much as I love that console I've always thought many things happened in that era so Nintendo, kinda, reacted. Like a kick in the balls that is hard to see, but necessary. The games were superb, yeah, but you know what I mean. The Switch library would look kinda like that in terms of quantity, although with a bit more, considering Nintendo lasted a while to release games in the WiiU era because they were almost the only ones doing so, because they had to release for that console AND the 3DS which didn't get as rich support as the DS, with the rise of smartphones AND bc they understimated the jump to HD.
Definitely my favorite game of all time for me now
Super Paper Mario for Switch!!!!
Glad to see someone finally acknowledge that the sensor bar was the best for aiming and that gyro doesn't even come close. I miss the sensor bar.
Wii games I'd love to see them bring over:
MadWorld
Red Steel 2 and maybe 1 (If they like actually remake it)
The Conduit and 2 maybe bring that studio back and make another?
Zelda HD collection and Metroid Prime Trilogy
And Super Mario Galaxy 2 of course.
Can someone please let me know which Golf game for Switch he was referring to at the 7:56 mark? I’d love to gift it to my friend. Thanks in advance!
I’m ready for sonic colors, for the second time 😅. I just really love the game.
Would really love a Muramasa port, I always wanted it on Wii but never got it. I'm sure if I ever make the move to pick up a used Wii copy a port would be announced the next day :/
(I know it was also ported to vita but I never had one of those, either)
We NEED Metroid Prime Trilogy on Switch
It gives you a good idea of the huge audience that switch is reaching, allowing for a lot of variety: games for fitness, games with motion controls, traditional rpgs, SNES/NES games, puzzle games, fighting games, all of the Nintendo franchises. It really feels like a come back to the Wii/DS era, in software, in hardware capabilities/gameplay mechanics, and sales.
Hopefully we’ll see The Last Story get a second chance...
After 10 years, this is the first I hear about the sensor bar being used in Skyward Sword hahaha. That may explain why I was constantly having to calibrate it. I would remove the sensor bar when playing zelda, so I calibrated every time I used a pointing ability
I want a Sin and Punishment: Star Successor remaster.
Amazing game! Would love a remaster also!
The one thing I used to do with my Nintendo Wii is take it with me everywhere I go along with my portable television and I would just plug it into walls. But I think this is a good idea. The one wii remastered game I think would be pretty cool (but I doubt it) is new Super Mario Bros Wii
I don't know why not on the video: Metroid Prime Trilogy is perfect on the Wii and I'm still waiting for the port on Switch
Great video! All I need is Donkey Kong Country Returns, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Metroid Other M, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 to be ported to Switch and then I can comfortably disconnect my Nintendo Wii from my TV
I'd love to see Another Code: R on the Switch. But that game is almost exclusively pointer controls. It could work with touch, though.
Metroid Prime Trilogy needs to happen by now giving us not only motion as an option but updated stick controls as well would be brilliant and I don’t imagine too difficult of a conversion
It’s probably going to happen once we have a release window for Prime 4.
The only games I want are Galaxy 2, Mario Sports Mix, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land. Those are my favorite Wii games of all time.
I would love to play all those Kirby games. I've seen gameplay of those and they look so great.
I've never played a Kirby game in my life.
Just need mario galaxy 2 now
If Nintendo made a new sensor bar or made the old one compatible with the Switch, and let us use Wii Remotes it would be absolutly perfect.
Yup
Now we need metroid prime trilogy, mario galaxy 2 and super paper mario remasters!!
I'm still waiting for the Windwaker HD port. Are the keeping it for a rainy day or something?
I've had my wii since I was a fetus and I still have the gamecube flaps 😎
You would think the IR sensor on the back of the JoyCon could do something to help make pointer controls similar to the Wii counter parts.
It's in such an awkward position, though. Puts the buttons at the very bottom of the remote, making them difficult to access, and the R & ZR buttons are effectively useless. I'm thinking they should actually release a Wii Remote style controller for the Switch.
@@logicalfundy I was hoping it could just be beaming backwards. Something with it. It's gotten as much use as the IR sensor on the Game Boy.
I hope Nintendo ports Galaxy 2 to the Switch. I'm tired of having to set up the Wii sensor bar on my TV. I just don't want to have to pay full price for it.
Reminded me of the lack of controller audio, usually not much, but worked to great effect on some of the best Wii games
Next up: Sin and Punishment Star Successor please
They gave us Mario Galaxy, Sonic Colors is on its way, Skyward Sword is here, and DKC
Now all I need are Galaxy 2, Kirby’s return to Dreamland, and Super Paper Mario
I,d be down if smash bros brawl got a remake on switch
That Space Emissary two player game mode was truly spectacular. That made Brawl my all time favorite Smash, even better than Ultimate
Just add subspace emissary to ultimate and brawl will be useless
It's called Project M or Legacy XP.
I hope Nintendo makes super mario galaxy 2 hd with no added content for $70 so I can laugh in your face. 🤣🤣🤣
0:22 You just took me on a trip down memory lane. I remember all those amazing games
I was thinking about this too, Wii games look perfect on Switch, they look just how they should look if they did Wii U correctly. But they choose to emulate a Wii...
what do you mean? Wii games on wii u are just from retrocompatibility and virtual console, things which aren't avaiable on the switch
@@diegone080 I meant the look, I though it was clear repeating it two times in the same phrase xD
Wii's resolution is not Wii U's resolution, so any Wii game or Wii app won't look as good on a Wii U as they do ported to the Switch with the new resolution.
Wii U should had have the option to upgrade at least the resolution of the games by the console itself.
It would be great if Nintendo switch got something like a sensor bar, with a virtual console for Wii games
They could absolutely do a USB sensor bar and Wii remotes are Bluetooth so there is nothing but software preventing them from connecting to the Switch
I'd love to see Punch-Out on Switch.
Talking about Wii...
I know you guys love the Wii U, and I bought one just now!
Any title I should try?
every metroid game on the eshop
Your not funny
@@backup_almeknassi9824 Ok...?
@@pit2992 You said talking about wii and then went straight to wii u. Dont know if u joking or not.
Hmm let’s see
Yoshi’s woolly world is good
In terms of older games punch out wii is really good, and literally all the virtual console games
It’s a good thing that they’re selling decade old games again for $60?
I was gonna ask why no one has mentioned this here? Being spoon-fed decade old games with next to no additional content or changes isn't a good thing for the consumer in any way. I'd fork out 50/60 for maybe a HD collection (like Mass Effect Trilogy) but no way am I justifying that for one wii game that's higher res.
@@JoeW473 I love the Switch, but this channel definitely has a bias.
@@JoeW473 guess it's a good thing that a large chunk of these Wii games do come with additional content or changes then, huh?
@@jaidens.g.1920 such as?
The price is a bit of a issue. But being able to play childhood favorites on a new console makes a lot of people happy.
We need Metroid Prime Trilogy on Switch
I think they will wait to release it with Prime 4. 😞
Lol at the intro, I've been looking for my flap for about a week now 😂
Just get dolphin: higher fps, better resolution, play in any system and just use your old copy, fuck paying twice for the same game.
Im still waiting for super mario galaxy 2, nintendo can’t get away so easily
I’m so glad xenoblade got put in switch, I feel like that was the best Wii game they could’ve brought to newer hardware.
You mean the WiiU Remastered is becoming the Wii HD?
What?

Does anyone remember BoomBlox? That is a game series I would love to see return😁
And they're all going to cost 60 bucks 😭
The Wii was a weird case were the games were either multi million sellers or only bought by a very niche audience, like the Dreamcast, Wii U or Saturn
I think More Wii games should be ported to the Switch were people are more willing to buy games, for example The Last Story, solid game with a high budget that not that many people played, and it also would run well this time
Switch is Giving Many Wii Games a Deserved Second Life*
*For $60 each
The thing is the right joycon could replicate the wii pointer by using the IR camera and IR stickers on the TV
Gamecube > Wii
I disagree

I want to get a wii u this week but I’m debating wether to get Nintendo switch Oled or ps5
get a steam deck, perhaps. you can play the games from every system that way.
@@hamzabeg6882 steam deck I’ve heard of it but I don’t really understand it. Is it a Nintendo switch kindoff

A steam deck is essentially a mid teir gaming PC in a handheld form factor. Get it if you want that. Side note this device does not come with windows in case were expecting that.
Switch oled doesn't have many benefits over a base switch. So if you want the new Nintendo system you should probably get a base switch.
I would wait on a PS5 if you want one. Their aren't many games on it yet and you may be able to get it cheaper in the future.
@@SickScavenger it's steams Switch styled handheld PC. as a huge switch fan, this is basically the switch of my dreams. It's basically a mid tier gaming laptop in an all in one switch form factor. In addition, it can be booted with any OS you wish, although they say the default Steam OS should be enough for most people.
