Brilliant! The converters have been around as long as foreign cars with separate turn and brake lights. I have a Haloview system and I’ve found the customer service to be top notch and responsive.
It's pretty sad to spend all that money on a camera system, and then have to spend even more money to make it work as advertised. Thanks for the video. I've already received my cam and am doing the installation this week.
Thanks for watching. I have had a couple of conversations with their engineers. They are aware of what I did to make it work. Let's see if they come up with a fix of their own.
I just bought the newer BT7 Touch and can't seem to get the trigger wire to work. Here is a copy of what I sent to Haloview, but would appreciate anyone's thoughts on this issue. Hello, I am having difficulties with the trigger wire for the side cameras. I have the BT7 touch and the BTC129 side cameras. I hooked up the trigger wires to the left and right brake light wires in my 5th wheel pin box. When I use the left and right signal in my truck, it does not switch to the right or left cameras. I have the trigger setting set to ON. It seems to be sending the signal to the cameras as when the signal in on the touch screen becomes inactive as evidenced by the screen saying "screen lock" or "trigger lock", something like that, and you can use the touch screen. When you turn the signal off, you can then use the screen again. Similarly, when you press on the brake, the screen also becomes inactive. This is likely due to the fact that trailers share brake and turn signal wires. I followed this video, ua-cam.com/video/6JwkSdRFO8Y/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Jonesin2Go, which confirms the shared brake/signal light issue. I set up the system just like the guy in video and still get the same result. I used the Curt turn signal isolator as he did as well. I tested all wires for voltage and verified that the signal wires are getting over 12 volts with each signal pulse so the current is there. For some reason the cameras are not reacting to the signal. I did find at times if I push and hold the brake pedal down, it will eventually trigger the right camera to come up on the screen. If I let off the brake, it goes back to Quad View. That tells me the system is getting trigger signals, but it appears the turn signal is not triggering the camera.
I think the Halo system was designed for campers like my Jayco where the side marker lights also blank with the blinker but they do not light up brighter when you hit the brake lights so they must be already separated from the brake lights
Jeff I think you are on to so.ething there. I have had a few conversations with the engineers at haloview about this and I believe they are looking at it. Fortunately I was able to make it work by using the tail light converter.
I wired side cameras to original ground and positive wire. Then i bought Curt converter and connected wires on right side of converter to the trigger wires. So the lights and camera are powered by original wires and then are triggered by the curt converter wires. It seems to work. Wayne
I had the same problem with my install and all I had to do is hook the trigger wire to the signal wire before it splits to the brake light wire before the fuse box under the dash if you have the proper testers you can find the correct wire and dont have to buy any more parts.
I was getting ready to do an install of this system. I hadn't thought about using the trigger wires as on my RD7 system I've always just used the split screen like you did. However, I'm thinking I might like that functionality better. Couple of questions for you. 1. Do you use the single screen with the turn signals more or the split screen after using it for a while? 2. Are you happy with the angle from the side cameras. I have the old style currently that was made without having the built in blinker, so in my Cougar I just have them mounted in the aluminum skirting at the bottom of the camper. They are way too low. After seeing your video I had the random thought that if I was going to fish a couple of wires I could actually mount them up on the very front of my camper as high as I wanted. I had backup lights mounted up at the roofline on a previous camper and have always thought that the view with a camera being similar would be optimal as you would be able to tell more about your tires vs the edge of a ditch or something when backing in and have more of a general view. Just a random thought I had. I'll probably end up mounting them at the marker light location which will probably still be better and it's a couple feet higher than where my current cameras are but just curious.
Hi thanks for watching. I usually just monitor the rear camera. I do have the split screen set to all 4 cameras as I have one mounted on my king pin also. I don't really use the split screen much. As far as the angle of the side cameras those are adjustable so yes I think I have mine in a good spot.
Thanks for the reply… btw… we have a FB group called “Camping UA-cam Community Support”. It’s over 500 channels. If you want to visit. Feel free to share your content there.
That is very simple actually. Take the screws out that hold the fiberglass up,then just use a fish tape. The wires will come out in the front(battery) compartment. And then just route them into the LPG compartment.
Is there a way to program the blinker so it goes in the split screen where the rear camera is always showing and then only the site camera with the blinker on? The reason why I ask is because the rear camera is really nice to be able to view when passing then merging over in front of another vehicle so you can see if you've cleared that vehicle to merge over.
I have installed the converter in the front cargo compartment with the ground going directly to the battery. When i activate the left turn signal, the left camera initially comes up and than apply the brake, the camera swiches to the right camera and vise versa. Do you have any fix for this?
Not yet. mine does that as well. I am still working with them on this issue. I do have a thought about that. When you are making a left turn for instanse and it switched to the right camera. You would be able to check for obsticles considering " tail swing"" i will let you know if I come up with fix.
My husband and I just installed the BT7 system using the trigger wire and converter box. We initially had a wrong wire at the pin box hooked up wrong. After correcting our mistake, we noticed that the converter box started buzzing when we turned the truck on. Is this an indication the converter box is not good? When pushing the brake, the cameras still black out and do not go back to Camera 4. I am concerned we may have burnt the converter box because of the wrong connection.
@@Jonesin2Go It was grounded to the pin box (converter in front storage) so my husband ran another ground wire to the battery bar. We ended up getting a new converter just to rule out any issues. It no longers buzzes but here is the issue: When the right blinker is activated, Camera 1 is activated, which is correct. However, when the brake is applied, Camera 1 immediately goes to Camera 2. Once he releases the brakes, it will immediately go back to Camera 1. Once he has completed his turn and the blinker goes off, the system will go to the back camera as it should. We are not sure why the side cameras are switching when the brake is applied and released.
Mine does the same. Did you use the curt converter? I actually kind of like that it switches side cameras when the brake is applied so that you can check for obstacles that could be struck with tail swing. I am going to test another brand Converter to see if it still happens.
We did use a Curt converter. What is strange is that when we are stopped with the foot on the brake the side cameras are bouncing back and forth. Also the side cameras don’t work if we have our truck lights on. They only work when the marker lights are on. Once we get to our destination, we are going to check for any bad fuses. Please let us know if you find a solution. We will do likewise.
@Robyn Mitts the cameras bouncing back and forth is usually a weak ground on the converter. But the headlights should not affect anything that one is strange
I thinking of getting this for my trailer. I'm a newbie. Can this be wired directly thru a rear marker light? I have 3 marker lights on top of the rear of the trailer. I'm thinking of installing the rear camera on the center one. In regards to the green trigger wire, can you just leave it and not connect it so it will not trigger when you use the brakes when backing up? That way I will not need the tailgate converter and just use 3 way split on the screen all the time. Is that possible? Do you also know if it records all 3 screens or just one screen at time because I saw one video on you tube also. The guy said that it can't record all screens in the monitor. Thank you.
Yes you can use the marker light for your power. As far as the trigger wire you do not have to use it. So yes you can use the split screen and not worry about the trigger wire. I believe it will only record one camera at a time
Be careful with those 3 marker lights. They are there for a specific purpose...to let drivers following you know that your trailer is (I believe) over 80 inches wide. You *could* receive a citation for not having all 3. Nothing says you couldn't mount the camera above or below and tie into their power source, just don't replace one of the lights with a camera.
You will probably have to repeat the pairing process. Where you have to push the button on each camera. I had that happen once. And it's been fine after

What happens if you turn on the emergency lights?
The 4 way flashers will confuse the system. It will likely show a black screen as the system will not know what camera to activate.
How did you 'fish' the wires from the pin box to the side marker lights to get the cameras to work with the turn signals???

I don't think so.
Smart fix. Do you if Haloview has fixed this on their end?
I haven't seen one yet. The tail light converter is a cheap easy solution. I will keep an eye out for a fix from haloview

Yes you can.
My side cameras have moisture in them making it blurry useless. Tried calling them with no luck
Sorry to hear you have a bad camera. Have you tried sending them an email? That's how I have communicated with them.

thanks for reaching out. the answer is yes, i have with no luck. both side view cams have very bad water cataracts. @@Jonesin2Go
