BAL Exact- Slide motor/gearbox replacement
When it comes to RV life, one thing that we can expect is that eventually, something will break. The chances of that happening are greatly increased when we are talking about moving parts. Slide rooms are one of the most moved parts in a modern RV, so it stands to reason they will eventually break. This video will show what failed in our BAL EXACT SLIDE cable drive slide-out room. It also shows how to access the internal working parts of the system, and the replacement of the motor and gearbox. I will share how we find a reliable and authorized mobile service provider, wherever we happen to be. I will also look at the part that broke and show what happened and what caused the gearbox to fail.
A special thanks to Goldsmith Mobile RV Repair Service for their prompt and professional service.

In the market for a front living 5er in 2026. Love the finishes, but Keystone is still massively missing the mark. Putting the entrance door in front of the slide means NO access to the half bath, or even bedroom on the road? Toe breaker vents still in the floors? Seriously? Is your design team awake? Go look at an Alliance 385FL and learn. Correct these huge design flaws!

@keyblazerslittlegarage3563 Thank you for your feedback. I understand the importance of convenient bathroom and bedroom layouts. While the current floor plan you're interested in is one of only two of 10 models that don't provide this convenience, Montana is continually working to improve Floorplan designs based on customer feedback. The engineering team at the Keystone Innovation Lab continues actively researching and testing floor vent systems. Current studies indicate that floor vents provide the most efficient method for distributing temperature evenly throughout the RV. They remain committed to ongoing research to enhance the Montana product's comfort and performance. you mentioned being in the market for a new RV in 2026, I encourage you to stay informed about upcoming Montana model changes. Keystone Montana values customer input and is dedicated to evolving their designs to meet customer needs and expectations.

This just showed up on my radar. However, I've used Blu Tech filters in my build for more than three years now. My build is a Toyota 4Runner that gets me where no consumer water sources exist. Instead, I pull water from wherever, including cattle troughs, yes, cattle troughs, using Blu Tech's 0.2-micron filter without ever illness. I do not use UV technology. Great product!

Is the charging cord that plugs into a charging block that you used in this video something new or only available if buying the BT7 that includes the TPMS? I'm interested in the BT7 but I don't want the TPMS. Just the monitor and one camera system. I don't have a 12V plug so I would use the other charging cord because I do have a USB A plug and a 110V outlet in my truck.

  • @robh063

It's too bad they don't make these that will power up the monitor with a USB C port. My Chevy truck doesn't have any 12V power sources that utilize a cigarette lighter type plug. That means I have to buy a different adapter and Jerry Rig the whole thing. Then because I have a 42 foot 5th wheel, I have to buy an extension antenna too. By the time I'm done, I'll have an extra $75 invested.

I am a little surprised you didn't know the difference between Glacier Fresh and Blutech as an rver. I have noticed Blutech on many rv's. @Raven5763 I definitely should have paid closer attention, that's for sure. I'm on the right track now, lol! That's why I decided to do the video, so others had one more source for better research. I usually research the heck out of products beforehand. I guess I got lazy on that one. I do have folks stop by and ask about our blu system regularly, and I tell them how I learned my lesson. I have even had people ask if they could taste the water and compare it to the taste of what they are using. So far, everyone has said the blu tech tastes much better.

VERY BAD to use any kind of dish soap on the exterior paint of a car or motor home. Dish soap completely strips all wax off the clear coat that you may have applied. If you get dish soap on an un-waxwd or un-sealed clear coat....it dries out the clear coat and greatly decrewaes the clear coats life and it causes cloudiness in the clear coat and/or paint.

❤ the new modern FBP schemes….but 1. Floor vents, no. 2. Brown wood valances, no (fabric softens it and modernizes it). 3. Brown wood trim throughout, no. 4. No way to fully darken the windows with those shades. 5. No island extension(s). 6. Sink is old school compared to Jayco. 7. Brown (again) wood pantry. 8. Brown wood bedroom surround. Also ❤ bathroom, shower wall pattern and shower lighting. Keystone Montana Legacy was a real competitor to Jayco Pinnacle, but the new Pinnacle and even the North Point are WAY more modern, otherwise the Montana would be in my top three!

Hi Jonesin, just an update from my last email I sent you about leveling: I had a Keystone tech come to my house for a minor issue with my 2024 Alpine 3303ck wiring for my backup camera. I asked him about the auto-level concern I had on my first campout with this new trailer. The concern was that when I pushed auto-level on the keypad, the front went all the way down, and I stopped it immediately because I got nervous. The tech said the trailer's auto level was from the factory its meant to go down first before it starts leveling. The tech pushed the auto level on my trailer, and the trailer front end went all the way down like it did at the campground for me. After about 5 sec of nothing happening, the trailer started to go into auto-level mode. The trailer did auto level very well with a 0 degree showing on the control pad.

The premium is what I have and did the video on,the second is the non premium, and they do NOT come with the lights. I did ask about an aftermarket kit. As of today, there is not one available. He did say they may put one out eventually, so keep an eye out for that. Now, just for my clarification, do you have an Alpine or an Alpine by Avalanch? I will be reaching out to the product manager at Keystone to see what they are using on each of the Alpine products.

Thank you for getting back to me with this information. I truly appreciate that. Mine is a 2024 Alpine 3910RK Not the avalanche. If you would happen to find out any more information, I would appreciate you passing it on to me Thank you again!!

@guybrick4490 can you tell me what your build date is on your unit? I actually just got off the phone with the product manager at Alpine. They are using the premium system on all of them now. Some of the first 2024s still had the older system or non premium system. Also, would you be willing to send me a picture of your key pad and one of your jacks? This is all curiosity at this point.

Can you use your older cameras with the halo?

I used my cameras from my bt6. It just depends on how old they are. The cameras from the bt6 and bt7 touch will work

locking up the brake is very bad , probably scrap the tire, do not know how was your set up with the original drums, but on every rig I had iIcould lock up the brake on all 4 wheels with drum brake, but brake fade is an issue

Hi Jonesin, enjoyed your I have a question we bought a new 5th with the new Lippert Titian leveling system and today 9/26/24 we took it out camping for the first time at a campground that had slightly uneven dirt site. I was able to get the trailer of my truck and when I push the auto level both of the front jack retracted all the way up dropping the front of the trailer down to the ground and the other rear jacks didn’t do anything . I was hoping they would start leveling but no. I had to manually level out my trailer. Did I do something in correct or is the leveling systems out of calibration? Thank you

@DUIA77 If the site was so unlevel that the front dropped all the way, the auto level would time out like that. So you did not do anything wrong. In a case like this, you will have to put the system into manual mode to extend the rear jacks. I have had this happen a couple of times.

Excellent review! I bought an Itehil RO but it’s not really a good fit for long term RVing, unless AHBL. So I pondered the Clearsource system, thought it was a bit big and clunky and then found Glacier Fresh…off to UA-cam to find your video first in my GF search. Thank you! I appreciate your honesty and detailed review.

@banddirector24 Thank you for watching, and especially taking the time to leave a comment. For us, I guess the 3rd time has been the charm. We are over 3 months into the blu tech and still love the results we see. One of the most common questions we get after" does it really work" is how involved is the maintenance? So it's time for maintenance for us. So watch for a video on that. Should be coming in the next couple of weeks.

Do the side cameras help you back into a spot? I park on boards in my driveway. Lining the 5th with them can be an issue. I am thinking the side cameras may help with that.

@tommcl386 I do use my side cameras when backing into tight spots. And sometimes, to see where my wife is when backing up, lol. But seriously, mostly when backing in tight spots

Do they still have the cable slides? That's the only thing holding me up from buying one.

    • @Jonesin2Go
      @Jonesin2Go 4 місяці тому

@ScottW-b7z all of the main slides, such as living areas on the main level, would be hydraulic. The small slide boxes on upper decks will be cable. This change was made due to all of the issues with the schwintech systems

I know several people that have had nothing but problems with those cable slides. It's a shame because we really like Montana.

IMO cable are the worst on the market. I find it hard to believe that you don't have more problems with those than any others.

They actually have far less warranty claims. But who knows what new system will hit the industry next

I love the BT7 touch that I just got this spring. Is my current touch compatible with the TPMS, or do I (again) have to buy a whole new system? Since it's Haloview, I am pretty sure I already know the answer.☹️

@tonystaut3743 I will send them an email. I used my existing cameras. I would say at minimum you would need the new screen and tire sensors. I will ask and get back to you.

@tonystaut3743 good news is yes there will be an upgrade kit coming out soon that will allow you to just upgrade the monitor and add sensors
