Being English and living in Australia I have had some wonderful holidays in Sheringham, taken by my cousin who has a home there. You may say "ah Australia they have the best beaches" but I have spent the best and most memorable holidays in Sheringham. Your walk through the town, railway station and seeing familiar shops and landmarks has been a complete joy for me. Thank you for this memorable video.
You're welcome Helen, thanks for watching
I will watch this video probably many times! I was born in Heath Road, Sheringham in 1948, but left to come to New Zealand in 1958, I have never been back. But it is true there is no place like home and 62 years later it is still, in many respects, ''Home''.
I well remember the view from the top of Beeston Bump, it was known as Beeston Hill back then, the field between the Bump and the township used to be covered in poppies and on the left side, a young lady kept her horses and ran a riding school, where I learned to ride. I was thrilled to see what appear to be the old railway gates between the old and new stations. We used to ride on them as they opened to let trains pass. It was punishable by a kick up the backside from the local coppers, but worth it! The bridge over the tracks was another great place to be, they were steam trains in those days and you would get covered in dust and soot as the train funnel went under you. We also got on well with the signalman in that signal box.
We used to go home from school, to West Runton on a train called, ''The Norfolkman'' and my brother and I became very adept at getting into the First Class Dining Room and pinching sugar cubes. There are several other things I remember well, my uncle, from London, used to play on the Golf Links each time he came to visit and I can recall sitting watching him play, and making Daisy Chains with my Aunt. I have a permanent reminder of the Golf Club, I tripped over outside the Clubhouse and still have the scar over my eye!
So thank you for this, you made an old Shannock quite nostalgic!
Thanks for sharing enjoyed reading
So lovely to stumble upon your comment! Heath Road is my road! It’s still a wonderful road to live on! :)
@@amymallett9523 Hello Amy, nice to hear from you. The house I was born in is the little bungalow on the inside of the bend in the road. That was in April 1948. We lived there until I was 5 years old. I have seen the place on Google Earth and it has been extended a bit, with an extra bedroom built on and the garages added but I still recognize it🙂
The town I was born in and still have family there! You must come back to film the famous 40s Weekend. Locals and visitors dress in WW2 uniforms and clothes and use authentic prams, cars and bikes etc. Thousands flock to Sheringham for this wonderful 'going back in history' celebration.
Sounds like an idea
I was at the 40s weekend for one day last year (2021) with my sister. It was fabulous and we hope to come for the whole weekend this year. We dressed as land girls.
Oh wow that sounds amazing when in the year does this happen please would love to go thank you
I stayed in Sheringham for 2 months in 2018 and it was the best experience of my life! Such beauty

Look forward to the railway journey
Really do love your videos of Norfolk brings back so many happy memories of family holidays! X
Thanks kay
We are staying near Sheringham this week and today we had lunch at Camellia Tea Shop and then walked to Weybourne on the Coast path, passing the small boating lake (yes it is a boating lake) which had model boats on it, then passing the golf course and the coast watch hut as seen in your video. The walk is about 3 miles to Weybourne car park and the views are tremendous. We did all this because you had featured it in your video - you are doing a wonderful job Tim, thank you so much🥰🥰
wow only just seen this comment Bridgette .. that means a lot im glad you have enjoyed them
My Grandma lived in Sheringham and so we spent every half term there, it’s like a second home. We try to go back every year since she passed as we miss the place so much. The murals of the fishermen on the wall are of real people, especially the man in orange. The Salvation Army play a big part in the town too and the band March and play down the high street into the sea front on Sunday evenings in the summer. Such a beautiful town. Thank you for sharing.

Beautifully made video Tim. I love Sheringham and was last there two summers ago when I took my elderly mother there and she loved it too. We had a cream tea on Sheringham Station. I didn't realize there was so much down on the seafront with those quaint little houses and "The Wee Retreat". What a great place to live. Thumbs up as ever👍👍👍

Love your videos Tim. Excellent !!!
Thanks Stuart
Watched this video before planning a few days in North Norfolk, google street view did nothing for me, but your video showed me just how lovely Sheringham is, so we enjoyed a fabulous day there. Thank you!
Your welcome
Thank you for this brilliant video Tim. I moved from East London to Sheringham in 2003 and never regretted it. To me it's now my home town and I love every inch of it and it's lovely, friendly people. As for the Tesco store, I was one of those that opposed it but now, as do many, I do my main shop there every week and because it closeness to the town centre it seems there are far more people using the local shops which I also use especially for seafood and meat. There are 2 butchers shops where you can buy different types of game from pigeon to venison. It truly is the perfect place to live.
Wow thanks for that Frank you are very lucky it's beautiful don't forget to hit subscribe

Thanks jane
Top work again tim.
Thanks for watching martin
I was going to ask you to do Sheringham, one of my favourite places in Norfolk, actually my favourite. Fell in love with Sheringham in December 2019, it was a rainy cold day. I live in Cape Town South Africa, my daughter and her precious family live in Norfolk, Ormesby. I love Norfolk, the people, the places it's just so incredibly beautiful, peaceful and safe.
Wow , thanks Judy, I love it too
A small village up the coast towards Wells, Glandford, also has a shell museum. The coast path links up with Peddars way, a long distance path that stretches down to North Suffolk.
Love your work! Lots of love from London
Thank you
Hi Tim love watching your videos, they give me a sense of being there and make me look forward to going back to those places , when I was younger we used to stay in East runton and go to Cromer , sherringham , wells ,
Blakeney ( seals ) and loads more places , but don’t really get back there very often , when we come we tend to stay in great ( GREAT ) Yarmouth , a fantastic place , I sometimes look at the live web cam just to see the place , Keep up the great work , gives a lot of enjoyment to so many 👍👍👍👍👍
very nice thing to say thanks Peter

Often used to sail my yacht on the model boat pond when I was young
shame no one does anymore
Great videos we moved to Norfolk 13 years ago and are finding places and going to them which we didn’t know about thanks
No problem 👍
1:26 - you see the faint dark line in the water, bottom left? That's the Sheringham Snorkel Trail. An old Victorian pipe is acting as a human-made reef with some amazing nature to be seen. I hope to be there this summer. Make sure to check weather and tides and snorkel to your abilities!
Great video, Tim, some really top-notch drone pans and circles!
wow ill have to check that out!
Good to see the place again and it doesn't seem to have changed that much since i was last there but i'm glad you mentioned the Lobster and i'm glad it's still there.

Great video! Great work editing ....... Thanks

In the 1970s I camped with my youth club on cliff-top and recall a roped ladder down to beach. Doubt it's still there with the madness of health & safety.
yes I doubt it lol
Nice views and great commentary.
Thanks malcome
I visited Sheringham last September via the NNR, which I’d come to film for my channel. Anyway, Ilive nowhere near Norfolk, but your videos are brilliant! Excellent photography and high production values plus the informative narration too, fab! Keep it up, your channels certainly going places, literally! Cheers!
Lol thanks nigel
Thank you for this superb vlog. It was really nice to see Sheringham again. Sadly enough I can't visit the UK this year.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely gorgeous beach, and stunning turquoise water. Thank you kindly for the walking tour, Tim. Your voice sounds very familiar in a tv or radio kind of way, very soothing. ;-> xo Mojo xo

Seriously, how to you get such great weather all the time!! Awesome footage of a place I've driven by, but never stopped at.
Lol I wait for the good weather and just go go go im hoping nxt week fingers crossed
Pungleperrys in Sheringham is the place to go, the cakes and sausage rolls are above and beyond. We always go there a couple of times on our summer holiday at West Runton. Now things are getting back to normal, we can look forward to going again in August. Great video Tim as always, the weather looked fantastic and the sea so blue. Who needs the Mediterranean when we have fabulous places like Sheringham? I`m looking forward to your Poppy Line trip, let`s hope they still do a cream tea.
Thanks for watching Chris
Watching from Perth, Western Australia Tim.. your a very interesting guide.. you should be paid well by the British Tourism Board for your work.. Excellent!!
LOL if only , thanks for watching Heather
Another gorgeous part of the world 👍
Couldn't agree more!
Steam railway from Sherringham to Holt, fantastic as wel👍
beautiful tour
Glad you enjoyed it
Another great video Tim. For all Tesco trying to blend in, to me it still jars horrendously, even if it is just outside of the main part of the town.
Of course a major part of Sheringham (at least for the tourist) is the steam railway, and something I hope to be doing once again late August this year. A ride on the train from Holt, sausage and chips on the front at Sheringham, then back to my hotel in Norwich is a good day for me. Hopefully the railway and everywhere else will be operating far more to normal by then.
Yes let's hope so, thanks for watching
Wonderful wonderful Sheringham. Will be there next week and we usually walk from there to Cromer along the cliff tops which is a lovely walk about 4 1/2 miles. Enjoying all your videos😍
Thanks so much for your support this year
@@WalkWithMeTim You’re very welcome. We live in Northamptonshire but our daughter lives in Norwich so it was lovely to see our ‘go to’ county during lockdown. We were really sad to see the cafe on Winterton beach had to be demolished a few weeks ago. Let’s hope they can set up another one. Looking forward to watching more of your fab videos in 2021 😃😃🥰
@@bridgetteparker5149 yes it's sad I loved that cafe... check out some of my Christmas videos too
@@WalkWithMeTim Already have lol 😀😀
Weaver fish stings are Very painful. I got stung on that beach as a child. The holes are linked to the casts. This is the lugworms burrow. Great fishing bait, if you can dig fast enough. Great video. Thanks
Thanks kay, nxt time I'll keep my flip flops on
