Had the pleasure of traveling on this line a few years ago. Absolutely loved it. And I have a Station Master Bear from Holt Station too. It’s such a lovely project and the fantastic work and care put in by those who run it has to be seen to be believed. If you’re ever in this part of Norfolk folks don’t miss this. ✨💖✨
I really enjoyed watching this. Without the help of dedicated volunteers that help maintain these beautiful pieces of our rail history throughout the UK we would never get to see the beauty of old days of steam and diesel DMU units. Thanks for uploading this fab video. I have now subscribed to you channel!!!
Great video but pity you didn't show more of the actual journey so your viewers could see the beautiful countryside.I live in Sheringham and have taken the trip to Holt and back many times just for the experience. North Norfolk is like heaven on earth to me and I was born and lived in London till 17 years ago. It has the best of English countryside, clean air, pretty villages, great seaside towns (including Sheringham), well kept farmland, an abundace of woodland and of course wonderful beaches and it's not flat like much of Norfolk. If you come here make sure you take a trip on the North Norfolk Railway and it's also worth taking a return trip on the Sheringham to Norwich line for some great scenery.
Thanks for the comment, Frank. As it was my first visit I concentrated on the trains rather than the view. I will have a look at what I shot so might have enough footage for another version with more scenery.
Went up and down four times all day with our beagle in 2019, Hopefully will do again this year sadly without Bertie beagle. Lovely time staff most pleasant.
The main thing which interests me about the Railway is the History Timeline of Policemen Bobbies & Firefighters. 19th, 20th & 21st Centuries Emergency Services.
The most important part of a heritage train ride is going over the rail joints. Modern trains don't ride these joints well, but period stock does. What's more relaxing when trying to enjoy the fine scenery, the regular clickety-click or that dratted music?
Sorry you don't like the parts where there is music. For a lot of the footage the sound of the rail joints was almost inaudible. Though you consider that to be the most important part of a heritage train ride, I for one consider the locomotives, rolling stock, and infrastructure to be more important.
@@UKHeritageRailways I don't disagree with you when the subject is the "railway". My comments were only about the "ride". There's places where music will fit, but not with beautiful countryside going by the window while we're vicariously riding in coaches of a certain age. The suspended disbelief is ruined.
It is interesting to watch your video - an interesting plot and beautiful angles. Thanks! Subscribed! I noticed a difference (4:51): in Russia, a signal that there are no obstacles to the departure of a train is served by a minimized white flag, and you have a detailed green flag.
Thanks again for the compliments. The train guard, or conductor, depending which country you are in, also has a red flag as well. The green flag was how all trains were given the ok for departure many years ago. Now you only see it on heritage railways. I have subscribed to your channel as well.
@@UKHeritageRailways Thank you! The red flag also exists in the alarm system. The green flag was a long time ago, but it was replaced with yellow. Most likely because it is more contrasting. Signaling with flags (at night - with lights) still exists, because trains can be long (up to 20 wagons).
At the NNR, Do you know what happened to the flatbed wagon carrying a “Navy” style blue with white grey tip torpedo? I have seen it before in 2020 or 2021. 🤨❓
The standard 4 is a lovely loco, but it would be lovely if the Ivatt 4 could be based at NNR as such an appropriate loco for this last surviving bit of M&GN land.
There are the sounds of the train mixed in with the music. On the outward journey there are no locomotive sounds to be heard and very little track noise. On the DMU section the music is hiding the conversations of the people on the train so you are not missing anything. All the footage where there is locomotive action there is no music. What are you listening to the video on?
Leo, I did not notice the "litter bin" until you pointed it out and I went back and saw it. I'm with Charles...I think the way he set up this opening shot is fine. I'm of the opinion most people would never notice that litter bin.
Again, as intended. The videos' format of 3840 x 1670 will give a full screen picture on a 21 x 9 monitor. I don't see how full screen 16 x 9 is more "fun". Do you find Cinemascope films annoying?
@@UKHeritageRailways I have knowledge of what cinema scope is but it's not matter of format here it's a matter on medium I just feel full scale non letterbox videos on UA-cam are better since you don't feel part of the picture is lost my apologies for any offence

Thank you for this great video. Delightfully British.
Thank you, Robert.
A nice introduction and preview for our visit next month. Thank you.
Many thanks. Glad you liked it.

Spot on!
Great work guys 👌
Thanks, Vaughan.
Was just thinking (this afternoon) about spending a day at the NNR next week - after the Test Match has concluded.

That was a brilliant idea
Thank you David. The approach of the train was slow so it was the only way to shorten the sequence.
Recently spent a day riding 3 different steam engines on this line! Well worth the money! A great day out for all the family!!
Brilliant video well done great camera work as well bye for now Philip
Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Welcome as a subscriber.
The Railway first opened on the 16th June 1887. One year later in 1888 in the City of London was Jack the Ripper!
How delightful...
Thanks, Declan.
Great video
Thank you, Jerin.
Like it
Neat and clean
Thanks for liking. I hope you enjoy the others.
It sure is!
What a pretty line.
Steam railways in the summer really are great!! :-D
They certainly are.

Hey Charles I would of pulled the shot closer to avoid litter bin in shot at start of video
As the bin is partly covered in greenery it's not a problem. A closer shot would not be what I intended.

Letterboxing the shot is annoying go each to edge to edge shooting much more fun
