I definitely have to agree that life of agony is one of the most underrated bands in human history. Mina has helped me through a lot of tough times over the years and it was so nice to see this band tour the river runs red album after all these years and as always still kick everyone’s ass all over the venue every time!!!!
story time, I was about 10 or 11 years old, loved rock/alternative music. My uncle was drinking in a local bar and met "some guys in a band" that invited him to check out what they were filming in our little long island town. He asked if he could bring me, and low and behold, I ended up being on the set of this very video shoot for hours. They were so nice to me, particularly Alan and Joey Z, Joey hung out with me all day, let me play his guitar. It was an incredible experience I still treasure to this day, as I am almost 40. Those guys didn't have to go out of their way like they did for a young fan, but they were so cool. It inspired me to start my own band that week. We never went too far, but it was a great time.
Great story Dude!! Love when our musical idols stay grounded and real despite having fame & fortune! BTW, do you remember the location, and where was this video shot on Long Island? I believe the band formed in Queens, NYC.....
@LIRocker87 I do!! It was an abandoned duck farm in East moriches, a littletown on eastern long Island, those barn like structures they were jamming in were old duck houses!
Some people on here obviously have never heard the album river runs red . This song is actually the first Life of Agony song that was mellow enough to get radio airplay. Keith Caputo is a great singer, no matter who he is today. These guys put out some great music in the nineties, give them their due respect.
I couldn’t agree more. Luckily I was introduced to that album in 1993 at 13 years old. I’ve never heard anything like it & probably never will again. Changed my life.
Soul Searching Sun was probably their most different Cd but it is also my favorite I think they really came together great musically on that album, it may not have been as gritty as the other CD's but artistically it was my favorite
I remember seeing this band during the Biohazard/Type O era and they were awesome. Soul Searching Son is my personal fave but most of that stuff back then was really good. The Stain Remains probably hit me the hardest from them because of that last verse and how deep it was but the first 3 albums I love. I haven't heard any of the later stuff but might get around to Broken Valley one day, my wife goes crazy when I play this music. Be well, stay strong and peace with love sprinkle each day for all of you.
This is such an amazing song! The radio edit used in this video, however, is something that I will never get used to. Lyrically, without those missing lines, the emotional punch doesn't land quite as squarely. Musically, without those missing bars, the choruses become jammed too close together, making it feel a bit more repetitive than the arrangement that the band intended. Also, it's kind of sad that Roadrunner doesn't know (or care) which album this song is from.
They have so many great songs but this one always had a different feel to it. Badass solo Joey Z.. I'll never forget the time I seen LOA back in 05 in Pittsburgh. Great times..
Keith came up with such a badass vocal line to this jam. Especially the chorus parts. The riff is killer but simple and Keith really detracts from that. It all just sounds so good together. Great band.
@@ghostb613 Of course it matters when Caputo wrote it. She was Keith then, to claim it doesn’t matter, is to deny the validity of her existence as Keith. I’m sure Mina wouldn’t deny it.
Yet another extremely under rated song! such a shame, this track certainly deserved a much greater rotation when it came out. Kick ass theme, Kick ass vocals, Kick ass guitar solo, KICK ASS
Saw these guys and gal at marquee club London in 1994 ish , supporting pro pain and totally stole the show. Saw them again in Norwich England 2018... still fuckin awesome!!! Pls come back ASAP
You are cool, Keith/Mina Caputo! This is a real hit and I love it and you seem to be a sensitive human being which is all what matters for me. Life is fucking hard. I just wish you and the whole band the very best. We are all in the same boat.
i agree, LOA has changed over the years. I liked the earlier shit as well, but have enjoyed watching progressively change. Always keeping it fresh. NYHC REPRESENT!

I remember listening to a live interview with LOA on 107.9 out of Waterloo, IA when Soul Searching Sun had just dropped. I remember the band saying that the original cut of the music video for this song had been stolen so it had to be re-shot. I also recall them saying that the stolen video was much, much better than the re-shoot because the re-shoot had to be done on the cheap since the original shoot had used up the video budget. I would love to see what that stolen cut looks like.
This is fantastic, I heard Michale Graves do a cover of this and always wondered why it was never really released or anything, I knew about Life of Agony but never gave them a real listen and never knew this was their recording, I can see why he covered this song, it's fantastic! This is truly an amazing song!
I can proudly say that my band opened for LOA twice, in 2004 and 2005 in Springfield, Va., at this club (now closed) called Jaxx. I can also say that Joey Z is on our band's 2nd CD on our song Breathe. Being able to say my band, along with my Brothers for life in CRB, were able to record at Method of Groove Studio is both an honor and a fan's dream come true. Joey gave my band permission to cover some LOA songs and it was awesome to play them live to not only our fans, but to those who'd never heard of LOA and turn those people into fans! La Famiglia Forever, Joey! CRB
Life of Agony were never a 'metal' band. They are a band spanning genre's of guitar based rock music. River Runs Red was a 'New York Hardcore' style album, 'Ugly' was a metal album, 'Soul Searching Sun' was a Rock Album, 'Broken Valley' has elements of all three. If all you can respond is "this isn't metal!" then you're listening to the wrong band. They are one of the most consistently good bands at whatever they do. There. I'll get off my high horse.... now go listen to some madball or something!
I remeber "Weeds" playing on the VHS at the gym in the 90-ties. One of the brightest memories of my teen age. It's kinda strange to see who Keith is nowadays, but when you listen to lyrics and interviews closer, it all makes sense. Not gonna give up on this band. As their guitarist said yesterday at the Sound Of Revoution festival, where they were palying along withmy favorite band Madball: "Be free, be yourself, that's what it's all about!"
I'm sorry but it's like a bitch you meet that constantly has sex with you...then you get married to it and the sex stops...after getting married to river runs red she lied and turned into this trash.
I saw them before they where ever signed in like 93 with maybe Megaderh in the old Studio 54 when it turned into The Ritz in Manhattan NYC. I knew they where something and then not long after they exploded. Back then to hear such a heavy band with a New York sound and good vocals was rare and groundbreaking.
This song and video exactly shows the chaos in my head.... So i glad i heard this words :) "I keep searching for something that I never found While these weeds get deeper as I turn around And time growns older and I've grown colder So long has passed that I forgot to count"
this song was playing on the radio in 97 while I was losing my V card, that's why I'll never forget this song lol... I also won't forget hiding in her closet when her mom came home and then sneaking out her bedroom window
I genuinely LOVE every iteration of this band, every album. I love River Runs Red as much as anyone does, I love Ugly and Broken Valley, and quite honestly, Soul Searching Sun is my favorite LOA record, especially when you include the extra tracks from that album found on the Roadrunner compilation 1989-1999, and HELL YES "A Place Where There's No Pain" is going to be in my car cd changer for a long time when i get it in April. Love this band always.

They make great music ..if you don't like it why are you here then.....
Love Life of agony. River runs red is on of the greatest albums I've ever heard
Totally agree this band was amazing. Every album so diff but river runs red a masterpiece!
I couldn’t agree more. Luckily I was introduced to that album in 1993 at 13 years old. I’ve never heard anything like it & probably never will again. Changed my life.
Soul Searching Sun was so different from River Runs Red. But I love both equally. They didn’t get softer but suckier. They did it right.
One of the best Songs in the History of Rockmusic. Timeless Masterpiece.
Weeds itsn't from the album "Ugly"... It's from 1997, "Soul Searching Sun", album... Great Song!!!!
This shit kills me man. Mina, whether a boy or a girl, you are beautiful either fucking way. Be light!!!
OMG I'd totally forgotten about this. Haven't heard this in like 20 years, but still love it!!!
Awesome. Lowland version pretty great! Didn't known you had it in you Keith!
I love how Keith is swaying as the rest of the band is rockin hard and it just works perfect. So much talent.
BUT POSERS MO!
Soul Searching Sun was probably their most different Cd but it is also my favorite I think they really came together great musically on that album, it may not have been as gritty as the other CD's but artistically it was my favorite
Sounds like a quote from American Psycho :-P "Ya like Life Of Agony?"
2019....so fucking many years later and this song still gets me through the bs. I'll learn one day. Thank you LOA for keeping me alive.

Exactly: the 'abstract' background of the album is hanging in the background of the video. It is the painting of the sun.
