Years passed, and i forgot their name... until the other night, i saw their name on the front of a music venue outside Boston while i worked. I like the sound just as much- gritty, raw, aggressive... wish i could go back a few days, and see them live. F* work.😊

You said it!!! I was never much of a hardcore fan, but when I heard this album when it came out, I was immediately sucked into the incredibly thick and chunky sound!! The vocals are beautiful and threatening all in one!! What I liked most about this album was the somewhat doom-laden element in almost every song!!! Brilliant debut effort, right down to the album cover! It took me a while to figure out that it's actually the bathtub drain with the blood of a troubled teenager!

I saw these guys @ OzzFest in 98, with the singer from Ugly Kid Joe.
They put on a great performance on the 2nd stage & I still have my tour shirt, in pristine condition 🙂
But TOOL ruled the day 🥰 On the main stage, OF COURSE.
The most hilarious memory of the day was, a couple bands before Tool, was Coal Chamber (I think it was them)
and they did a song, which to me sounded like they were complaining about having toilet paper stuck to their shoes & the would scream "poop" & spin around in circles 🤣🤣🤣
My girlfriend, Eloise, was pissed at me & was even more angry after that song.
She told me the name of the song & what it was about but I couldn't stop laughing.
All in all, I wish I'd have gone by myself. I was long since over babysitting drunken stoners.

All the extra parts in this album give it such a real raw, authentic vibe, like the ending and some of the sound clips on other tracks. So the album just flows and fits with what real life is like. Hardcore tends to still have that real world approach to it. Lot of metal tends to go into exaggerated scenarios & intensified story telling. But albums like this remind me how grounded music can be while still heavy. The riffs are pretty basic in retrospect but that gives it a more raw feel instead of extremely overproduced, multi-layered guitar wank going on now. There's probably not that many albums like this in existence, at least as real as this one was. It's kinda the cousin or brother of a Pantera album in my opinion in terms of rawness, production, vocal quality & cadence, realness, riffs, etc.

Totally different kind of music. Keith’s vocals were amazing,(he has a great hardcore voice too) he has a beautiful voice when he’s not singing hardcore. We were in the studio several days a week, it was fun times. He almost got signed to a major label with my friends band, but he decided to go to Europe and go solo. When I heard years later he became Mina, safe to say we were all shocked ,but he’s doing great with LOA again. Have not seen him in years ,

I first saw Life of Agony at a dive bar in Baltimore in 1991. There were about 15 or 20 people at the gig. I bought their demo and played the cassette over and over until they played their next all ages gig in Bmore. I bought the 2nd demo and was super impressed! Then this album was released. I bought it and listened to it a couple of times. I decided to revisit it today, after a few decades and I'm still not able to really get into it.
I miss the rawness and power of the two demos. Early 90's metal/hardcore from that part of the world was something truly special. 🙂

@@soundframemusic Alright, I'll take the Pepsi challenge. First up, Pain of Truth-No blame just facts. Singer sucks, no voice he's just hollering, music is good, mix is terrible, way to fucking loud... loud doesn't mean good. Next, Age of Apocalypse-Grim Wisdom, better than PoT decent mix, singer lacks range. Next, Gridiron-No Good at Goodbyes, Drummer Kicks fucking ass, if it's drum tracked then he's good. If not he is badass. again with the mix... Believe it or not you don't have to turn everything all the way up, Same with the singer, lacks range. But I am seeing a trend here with the hip hop influence. Sorry, stuck in the 90's... get off my lawn. Fuck, running out of time, I will check the others out. Over all, you can hear the influence and it sounds good. Not a fan of the super loud mix. Mina Caputo or Keith as I knew him (shout out to Jenna Jolt for the introduction) has a hell of a voice, these modern bands have a different style and it's not a fair comparison. But most importantly \m/ rock on
